I have 2 small terrier mix dogs. One is 10 and the other 2. The 2 year old is a bit slow and had a hard time potty training. He got into the habit of sneaking into our living room and pooping on the carpet. He also occasionally peed. I was having the carpet professionally cleaned every 6 months and was going broke. I Googled "indoor electric fence" not knowing if there was such a thing and discovered PetSafe Pawz Away Barrier. I read all the reviews and decided to give it a shot. I placed the base near the entrance to the dining/living room area. It was amazing! My older dog clearly heard the warning beep and got the mildest static shock and hasn't gone near the area since! (We've had it 2 weeks.) The younger, slower dog went in the "no no zone" and stayed. He looked around when he heard the warning beep and stayed put with the first mild shock. He did the same with the next beep and stronger shock. No response. On the third warning and shock, he jumped straight up and left the zone! He hasn't been near that doorway since!!! All it has taken is one zap each and they stay away. I bought 2 units and 2 collars. The one unit keeps them out of the living/dining room areas. I'm going to place the other unit in a heavy duty zip lock bag and put it near the gate in our back yard. Both dogs love to bolt when the gate gets left open. This is a fantastic devise! I was expecting to pay around $300 for some kind of indoor fence and only spent $100. You won't be disappointed. I sure wasn't!!

This little gadget literally saved the life of my cat. She was crapping and peeing on our leather sofa every day. She also loved to do this on our sheepskin carpets. Nothing stopped her. She now wears this collar during the day and is confined at night so we can take it off and give her neck a rest. We have several pods strategically located in different areas of the house. She has been flawlessly using her cat box and does not cross the boundaries. She may live to be a very old cat thanks to this. Love it! The collar does need to be tight enough to contact the skin, or it will not work...so play with it till you see the dog or cat respond to the "signal". ;-)

This system is expensive and brilliant if it worked well. I put the receiver to keep the dogs from sneaking upstairs and peeing on the carpet. This seemed to work on the little Scottie but did not work on the large white dog who was the real culprit. Her coat is so thick she never felt it. I ended up having to use an ugly child gate instead...

Love this item! It worked wonderfully. We have 9 month old Cockapoo that always wants to run out the front door and with 4 kids the door is opened a lot. After one day she won't go near the door. When she ran out the front door she would take off and not come back for anything. It could take up to 1 hour to catch her. Living close to a State Road we were very worried she would end up hit by a car. This has solved that problem. Our wonderful puppy is much safer because of this product.

I FIGURED OUT HOW TO FIX THE COLLAR WHEN THE COLLAR DOES NOT RESPOND EVEN AFTER PUTTING IN NEW BATTERIES.
OPEN THE CASE AND REMOVE THE BATTERY HOUSING. THEN TAKE A BUTTER KNIFE AND DIRECTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE
CIRCUIT BOARD IS A LITTLE METAL ARM, GENTLY PRY THE ARM UPWARD SO IT MAKES BETTER CONTACT WITH THE BATTERIES
IN THE HOUSING. THIS IS MY SECOND COLLAR AND WAS PRETTY FRUSTRATED THAT IT NEVER WORKED AFTER A FEW MONTHS.
NOW IT DOES! THIS IS A GREAT DEVICE FOR MY CAT WHO LIKES TO URINATE IN CERTAIN AREAS OF THE HOUSE. WORKS GREAT!!!! NOW THAT I FIXED IT I WILL GIVE THIS ITEM 5 STARS!!!!!
