THIS PLAYPEN LOOKS NICE BUT MY TWO CATS WERE OUT OF THIS THING IN 30SECONDS. WISH I HAD KNOWN BEFORE TIME. NOW I GOTTA BUY A REGULAR CAGE TO KEEP THEM SECURE. IT WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF $. WHY WOULDNT THE MANUFACTURER SEAL THE BOTTOM OR ATLEAST ALLOW THE BOTTOM TO ZIPPEN LIKE THE TOP SO U COULD JUST PLACE THE USELESS MAT ON TOP OF IT TO REMOVE IT FOR WASHING AT A LATER DATE. ITS NOT FOR GROWING PETS

This arrived quickly and is very big! It is taller than we expected which may make it hard for mama kitty to get out, but we can work with that. This is so well made and very sturdy. The top and bottom do ZIP on. Some of the reviews say it is velcro, but it is not. It is a sturdy zipper. We are going to use it for four kittens that were born two weeks ago. Seems that male stray I adopted is not a boy. Anyway, like I said, very good size, very sturdy, and goes almost up to my chest. I have crawled inside, and there is plenty of room. This will be great for the kittens and would be good for a small or medium dog. The picture makes the screen seem dark, but it is really easy to see out of and through.

I purchased this product as an alterantive to a crate for my beagle/chihuahua mix. The item was a perfect size for her and all of her necessities. Unfortunately, the bottom panel that has the velcro attached to it, doesnt line up properly with the playpen. And because my dog notice the gap in between panel, she dug her out it and bit up my carpet while i was at work. I am now buying her a crate.

Just received this item, set up was a breeze. Let my Jack Russell check it out and he was very happy. It is just what I needed to keep him confined when I am away from home, and also to use when visiting friends. Wish there were a few more instructions on care, basically came with none. But not a reason not to purchase-

As my wife and I were driving down a country road, we watched as an individual dropped something in the ditch and then drove off. Once we arrived at that location, we realized he had dropped a Dachsund dog. Upon further inspection, we found the dog to have a dislocated knee and dislocated hip and infections in both ears. We took the dog to the vet and continue to treat him. Thusly, we now have another pet in addition to the dog we already have and the two cats that someone else dropped in our neighborhood that we adopted. Because my wife and I are at work for ten hours during the day and we didn't want to coop up our new pet in a cage, we decided to check our favorite website Amazon for a better alternative. After extensive research, we decided on the 59-inch Pet Dog Play Pen for which this review is written.

We received the pen by the scheduled date and it appeared to be nicely constructed and included a nice canvas storage/carry bag. It was very easy to set up as you basically just unfold it and it pops up like a tent. You then must zip the top and bottom panels in and it's ready to go in about five minutes total. We were excited about our new purchase thinking that we had solved our problem for $77. We were especially pleased that the pen had an easily cleanable bottom since we have hardwood floors and our new guest had already relieved himself numerous times on the floor. Unfortunately, our happiness was short-lived.

The first day of use, the Dachsund broke through the mesh door. We sewed a hard plastic utility fencing over the hole but he separated the zipper and broke free again on the second day. My wife resewed a new piece of plastic fencing large enough to cover the zipper and we stapled it and taped over it as well...he still broke through. I then took a plastic storage tub top and nailed a 4-inch x 4-inch piece of lumber to the bottom for weighting and blocked the doorway with it but the dog moved this and escaped again. It was at this point that we decided to scrap this play pen and buy a large metal kennel which has since acheived our goal albeit an ugly addition to our living room. We were out $95 for the kennel which wouldn't have been quite so bad if we hadn't already wasted $77 on the play pen.

In summary, I can only surmise that the play pen would be a good purchase if you have a very docile pet but for any other animal that really wants to get out, I don't see this item doing the trick. It's light so it won't scratch the floor, it's got a bottom so it will protect the floor, it's roomy and it looks better than a metal cage in a living room but none of this means anything if your pet can easily escape its confines.
