This muzzle works great for my Akita. He is not able to pull this muzzle off. My dog does great with people, but not well with other dogs so this was perfect for those bi-annual visits to the vet office. This allows me feel more comfortable bringing him out in public (walks, vet, etc.) without worrying that someone's loose dog/cat may come too close to him.

These work perfectly on the shape of the Akita muzzle. They don't chafe like so many other muzzles. Highly recommended for allowing aggressive dogs to play together without worrying about fights.

I followed the sizing chart and bought a size 10 for my 173 lb Saint Bernard (his muzzle measures 14.5"). The basket fits over his muzzle, though just barely, but the strap that goes behind his head is about 6-8" too short!! I would not recommend this muzzle for a giant breed dog, especially those that have a big square shaped head like Saints or Newfies.
