This is a gift that keeps giving! The battery does not last very long, so you need to continually buy more. It is ridiculous. Also, the transmitter is too heavy for a small dog's neck and moves around too much. This caused my dog to develop chafed skin and a rash after wearing it only a short while. Since this item is made for small dogs, this should have been taken into consideration before production. It may not be a problem with a dog who has a dense coat. My dog is a mini hot dog, with a thin/fine coat, so I cannot speak about the effect on other breeds. Finally, the settings are not consistent. I had to replace the first item I bought and the settings on the second were not the same. hey should all be calibrated the same when manufactured.
