Company Of Animals No-Bark Collar

Pet Tag Classic No Bark Collar, Red, SmallWhen I first put this on my dog, she went immediately out the door and proceeded to bark for the next 5 minutes at the neighbor's dog. I switched it to buzz, and she continued to bark as much as before. I was thinking "Oh, bother, it's not going to work at all, I'm going to have to send it back." But it was a Friday afternoon, and we were busy. So I thought I'd deal with it on Monday. Well, I have to say other than the kids whining about when I would set up the pool, it was the quietest weekend on record!! Come Monday morning I realized it WAS working the dog was MUCH quieter. We could let her out in the back yard without having to call her right back in from barking like crazy at the neighbor's horses etc. So it DOES work, and we are VERY happy with it!! Yeah!!! And the kids are thrilled that she is not getting shocked. They were not happy that she was going to get shocked. I did not even realize it when I bought it, that is was not a shock, but a sound and a buzz device. So it was a double bonus it works, and it works without hurting her!! This is a great product and we are very happy with it. Not too expensive and does what it says it will do. win win.

We purchased this bark collar for our little Rat Terrior who would continually go wild barking at the passing neighbors everytime they passed.

We have looked at shock collars but didnt like the idea of hurting the dog, especially since ours is very small. Most reviews on the no shock collars were not very positive or successful. However when we saw this paticular No Bark Collar, the few reviews listed were positive. Still not very confident but needing a solution, we purchased it.

From the very first day it was placed on our dog, we saw immediate results. Our dog now goes through her daily routines in the yard without a bark! The collar is amazing. We have always had it set on the sound only option, never needing to set it to vibrate. However, she does know when its not on her and will bark as usual. We love the collar and HIGHLY recommend it!

I have to say this exceeded all expectations for me, in spite of one of them not working upon arrival (Amazon exchanged it with just one click so it's a non-issue).

I have two small Pomeranians and I've tried everything...spraying water, yelling "no", using a calming voice...saying "sit" and getting something to eat to distract, everything. These two dogs I adore still worked each other into a frenzy if ANY door is opened or they hear a noise. I could not even go out the back door for a minute without ear piercing barks and throwing their bodies at the door as though I had just entered the chamber of death never to return to them, and one of them even biting anyone's heels when leaving. In spite of training and sweetness in every other way, I have devil dogs upon open doors.

I would NEVER shock my dog for any reason, it would be as bad as shocking a child for misbehaving in my eyes. Yes, I know it's done and it works but I don't think that way. I had a citronella collar in the past when I had another dog who is now in heaven and I had roommates bothered by her barking. When she barked, it squirted a mist of citronella. I thought at the time it was very humane and now I have such regret after reading an article about how awful and almost painful that is for their sensitive noses and shouldn't ever be used. She only wore it for 6 months but I would never go that route again--and it was expensive and inconvenient always having to refill it. Too, it was really too bulky. I thought I was doing the kindest thing in training but I was wrong.

I put this on my loudest barker the first night it arrived and it was as though angels flew down from the clouds and whispered "sssshhhhh". Kismet barked once and it vibrated (I did this to myself and there is NO shock involved, no pain, truly like putting a back massager that barely works on your wrist. A soft vibration buzz. I couldn't imagine it making a dent in the devil dog bark extravaganza)--to my surprise, I opened the door, she lunged and barked then she looked around, confused, like "what the heck was that tickle?" She hasn't barked since except seemingly to test it with a half bark a couple times! We tested it with all the normal bark inducers, walking in and out, a knock on the door got half a bark...but it was the strangest thing I"ve ever seen. And to think of all the years I made guests wanna cover their ears and dreaded opening a knock at the door due to the insanity that ensued!

The best part is this truly is tiny and thin. My dog has actually NEVER worn a collar...we use a harness when she walks so I figured this would drive her mad as she is a small and very fluffy Pom. She shook her head once and that was it. This is not in the way AT ALL. It's only about 1/4" thick. She eats and drinks and plays without even knowing it's there.

If the vibration doesn't work, you can also have it make a high pitched sound. And you can set it on a higher vibration level. We didn't need to do either.

As I mentioned, the second one didn't work but Amazon exchanged it at no cost or charge for a new one (you can bark yourself to test it in a little dog pitched bark! I think the battery was dead on the second and though that's easy to replace, I shouldn't have to on a new unit so I instead exchanged it.) but the good part about that is I got to see that when the OTHER dog barked right next to Kismet, Kismet's collar didn't go off. I think it reads her throat vibration.

My other dog who had the anti-bark collar in the past learned instantly how to still communicate without barking if she needed to go outside by going "buff". Kismet does the same.

This is probably like the best thing I've bought this year. Right up there with the ipad, I swear. This is like the magical peace machine. And cheap! Two of these are less than the price of one citronella collar that requires refills and is way bulkier!

Cons: One didn't work upon arrival. Although it was exchanged free by Amazon, that still was an inconvenience. But for me there are no other drawbacks or issues with it.

UPDATE: After much use I can say a couple things: Still love it, still works BUT when not in use, like if you take it off for awhile, turn it off. The battery that comes with it runs down a little too quickly for my liking. No matter, we replace it and my dog learns instantly to hush again...but still it runs out faster than I would like so keep some spares on hand.

The collar is light and is powered by several button batteries, the type you find in watches. It has a Low-High adjustment for the beep/vibrate on one side, and a switch between Beep/Off/Vibrate on the other. The collar is not a quick release clip so you'll have to open up the strap each time you want to put it on your pet.

I have a Petsafe invisible dog fence and the collars. My dogs have learned beeping warning signs of being too close to the boundaries. This barking collar is perfect because it beeps/vibrates as opposed to shocks. The beeping tells my dogs to stop barking and that something is wrong. Just be careful if you have multiple dogs, one barking could set off the other, but could also deter the other from joining in on the barking.

I have a 20lb cockapoo and a 7 lb chiweenie and THANK GOD for this product, honestly. I ordered only one initially and planned to switch it back and forth between the two dogs until I was sure it worked and let me be clear here it does! I'm on here ordering collar #2 and see all the negative reviews, so had to write one myself.

Does it go off at random times for no good reason? At first, yes. But once the dog gets used to it, the dog avoids bumping into things and calms down a bit. Is that a bad thing to happen to a little dog? Hell no! Does it go off sometimes when there's a really loud noise nearby? Sure but that doesn't happen often. Unless you have construction going on in your house, I'm not sure that this is a valid concern.

For the cockapoo, I use the low setting on vibrate it's still kind of strong though, so I just don't have the collar tight against his neck. He used to bark NONSTOP when people walked by or came in my house, now he only barks a little bit and then stops. The vibration initially scared him (a lot) but he's used to it now and we're at a happy medium -for both of us, with him barking a bit and then stopping.

The chiweenie gets the lowest sound setting as the vibration would shake her whole body. The sounds works well enough for her and we've seen the same result it scared her quite a bit initially, but now instead of yapping at the air for an hour straight, she'll yip a few times and then gets annoyed with the sound so she stops. Again, happy medium.

I've tried lots of products (from silent whistles to shock collars) and this one is the best solution hands down. Don't listen to the haters on this one, trust me. If you buy it, give everyone a few weeks to adjust and it works just fine. It's not an instant fix, it takes getting used to and tweaking depending on your dog.
