Meaty Flavor Bites

KONG Premium Treats Meaty Flavor Bites, Beef and CheeseWell at least the treats are made in the USA, we're using the Kong rubber tire toy, and while the 'treats' are fairly large, it is too easy for our GSD puppy to get them out I just feel that the 'treats' should be larger and the packaging marked for what Kong toy would be correct.

My dog is fussy about what treats he'll respond to. These treats are effective training treats. I break them into little bits to get more mileage from them. They are pricey. Rural King here seems to have stopped carrying them so I was glad to find them on-line

Buy Meaty Flavor Bites Now

So the reason I bought these and paid so much money for this lil bag of treats it because I wanted a treat that would fit perfectly in the kong so I don't have to shove several treats into it. Okay so they say fits perfectly into Kong so I'm expecting one treat will fit perfectly inside (as described) so as I'm running out for work, I can shove one it, give to my dog and go. These treats are tiny!! They would fit a doll-house sized kong perhaps? I have a small dog kong and yeah, I can shove one far into the bottom of a kong but it still will fall out unless I fill it with peanut butter or another substance. SOOO disappointed!

My dogs love these! They smell great and my guys will do anything for them. The ingredients are first rate and they are perfect for treating and training (or just plain spoiling!).

My dog goes nuts over these, and I was so happy to find something that inspires such loyalty in her that also has good healthy ingredients.

Previously the only treat she went crazy for (having tried freeze dried liver bits, duck jerky, zukes treats in various flavors, and all other kinds of real-ingredient treats) was something that had high-fructose corn syrup as the 2nd ingredient -definitely not something i ever wanted to feed her. So i was super excited to see that these have only healthy ingredients, and no wheat, sweeteners, or fillers. My dog has great recall, thanks in parts to these tasty treats!

They are large (the size of half an unshelled walnut) so i break them into 1/6ths to use as training rewards. The only downside is that if you break them up ahead of time, their edges will crumble a bit in your pocket, but nothing too bad.

Gentle Leader Headcollar - Royal Blue Small

Gentle Leader Headcollar - Royal Blue SmallGreat concept well executed. We have tried other harnesses, including one that the leash connects to under the chin, and another that tightens around the body when the leash is jerked, but our little Spanky pulled relentlessly. Two minutes wearing this head collar and he was walking along with the other dogs. He does not like the head collar, but it seems that he is willing to wear it if it means going out for a walk. [..]

Holt Dog Walking Collar Red Size 3

Holt Dog Walking Collar Red Size 3See customer photos for a side-by-side comparison of the old-style Halti and the new-style Holt.

I won't rant and rave about the benefits and drawbacks of using a headcollar each dog is different and responds differently to various training tools, and I'm assuming that you've found this product based off your own research and recommendations from trainers and friends.

The hard part is deciding which headcollar type to use. In the past decade, I've used several different headcollars, including the Halti, the Gentle Leader, the Petmate AKC Headcollar, and the Holt. In my opinion, the Holt is the sturdiest, most comfortable, and most flexible headcollar of the whole bunch, and is a worthy successor to my previous favorite, the Halti.

The Company Of Animals Halti Head Halter Black Size Halti Head Halter Black Sz 0 Training & Behavioral Aids

The Halti was, previously, the best halter for a very simple reason: it had side-straps on either side of the dog's face that prevented the noseband from riding up a dog's face and digging into the dog's eyes. It also worked without cinching the dog's mouth shut, like the Gentle Leader. However, the noseband was not padded, and while I made my own homemade padding for the noseband, it was at least very wide to prevent the material from biting into the dog's skin (unlike the Gentle Leader). The Halti generally came only in black, though colors could be found online. The Halti, despite being designed to function loose (and allowing a dog the full use of its mouth), often made your dog look "vicious" by wearing a "muzzle", particularly in the black color. Prior to the holt, this was the most comfortable.

HALTI PROS: comfort, looseness, prevents noseband from riding up, safety buckle connects to collar

HALTI CONS: limited colors, no padded noseband, can not be cinched tight for short-nose breeds

Gentle Leader Head Collar, Size: Small, Color: Royal Blue

The Gentle Leader, however, was the choice for short-nosed breeds. The Halti suffered when a shorter-snouted dog pawed at the noseband to remove it. The Gentle Leader's design cinched the dog's mouth closed with a locking mechanism, allowing it to be used snugly on short-nosed breeds. For standard-shaped noses, the cinching could be kept more loose to allow for more comfort. It did not have the side straps like the Halti, so it could ride up into the dog's eyes. The noseband was narrow and not padded (unless you shell out extra $ for the premium version not found in stores), so it bit into the dog's skin at the top of the nose. However, it came in multiple colors which helped it look less like a muzzle.

GENTLE LEADER PROS: color choices, cinches tight for short-nose breeds, safety buckle connects to collar

GENTLE LEADER CONS: uncomfortable narrow non-padded noseband (note: premium GL has nose padding, but still narrow), can ride up into eyes

Petmate 3/4-Inch by 16-24-Inch Medium AKC Padded Dog Halter, Brown

New to the game was the Petmate AKC-branded headcollar. This came in many colors and was pre-fitted with a fleece padded noseband. The noseband color is always brown, and there are additional options for colors of the straps. This headcollar looked the least like a muzzle. However, the locking mechanism was not sturdy and would often slide, allowing dogs (even long-nosed breeds) to paw the noseband off their face. It also did not come with a safety strap to connect the headcollar to a dog's normal buckle collar (though one could be homemade very easily). It also buckles underneath the neck, rather than on the side of the face.

PETMATE AKC PROS: color choices, fleece padded noseband

PETMATE AKC CONS: loose & slide-able lock, no safety strap to connect to collar

Now, onto the Holt. The Holt is identical to the Halti except for two key features: a "camlock" and a foam-padded noseband. The camlock is a very tight locking mechanism that does NOT budge when the dog paws at the noseband. It is a great tool to keep the headcollar ON your dog. For short-nosed breeds, the camlock can be set tight and will stay in place. It has the same great features of the halti to prevent the noseband from riding up into the eyes, and the safety strap to connect the headcollar to a buckle collar. In addition, the noseband is padded with black foam material, not fleece, and is extremely soft and comfortable. It is sewn on the underside of the headcollar, and does not interrupt the color (can not be seen while the dog is wearing the headcollar). The Holt comes in a variety of colors, including red, pink, and blue.

HOLT PROS: extremely comfortable, foam padded noseband, noseband doesn't ride up into eyes, camlock keeps noseband in place even with short-nosed breeds, multiple colors

HOLT CONS: ???

If you are considering a headcollar to train your dog, I highly recommend the Holt for all breeds. It is a worthy successor to the Halti and addresses the cons of that headcollar.

Please note that I have included customer photos showing the Halti and the Holt side-by-side in the "customer photo" section here:

Coastal Holt Dog Walking Collar, Blue, Size 0

I LOVE THIS!!!!!! I can't be more happy than I am with the Holt head collar. I have a 5 month old German Shepard and it has changed our walks like no other. I can't wait to show my friends. I am ordering two more so I will have one in the car and camper. My dog still rubs against me once on a while to let me know she wants it off but I just give it a LITTLE tug and she stops. She is a puppy after all. It doesn't hurt her and she gets her three mile a day walk. Even my kids will walk the dog now. THAT'S AMAZING!

My dog and I thought we should review this product together. And since my keyboarding skills are better, I' m writing for both of us. Dog comments are in [brackets]:

As a dog owner [grrrrr, that's not politically correct....we prefer "dog's human partner"]. OK, as a "partner", I think this is a better collar than the Gentle Leader we once owned [grrrrrr]. The nose band is wider and well padded, it goes on easily. Some dog owners, PARTNERS will like the connecting strap that clips to a regular collar, but its hardly necessary. My only issue is that the collar's fastening clip is too close to the dog's ear and might get caught.[grrrrrrr, just be careful, why don't you?]

[as a dog, I resent all collars, but this one isn't TOO awful. It helps my human partner think he can contol our walks, even though that is pure human fantasy...I mean if I really wanted to get away, I could. Anyhow, my nose feels a little better using this collar, even though it still bothers me to have to wear it]

It works but dog never did get used to it. He continued to rub and pull with paws stopping all the time. But by the end of each walk he would more or less stop trying but would then rub his face against my leg.

The strap that goes from chin to collar I had to remove since he put his foot thru it. It DOES stop the dog from pulling and many other dogs might not react this way.

Mendota Products Leather Snap Lead

Mendota Products Leather Snap Lead , Chestnut, 3/4-Inch x 6-FeetThis lead is extremely strong and rather stiff. Will have to walk the dog for a while to loosen it up, but it should work for show purposes. Snap is very firm and feels secure. Ring at the handle end is convenient -I can use a toggle to connect the lead to just about anywhere.

I ordered this lead because it was the best deal I could find on Amazon. The lead is made of a decent leather that seems to hold together well. I have used it for one month now in dog obedience school, and it has help up. I would note the brass clip is rather cheap and hard to get onto the dogs collar. Overall, I would order this brand again.

Company Of Animals No-Bark Collar

Pet Tag Classic No Bark Collar, Red, SmallWhen I first put this on my dog, she went immediately out the door and proceeded to bark for the next 5 minutes at the neighbor's dog. I switched it to buzz, and she continued to bark as much as before. I was thinking "Oh, bother, it's not going to work at all, I'm going to have to send it back." But it was a Friday afternoon, and we were busy. So I thought I'd deal with it on Monday. Well, I have to say other than the kids whining about when I would set up the pool, it was the quietest weekend on record!! Come Monday morning I realized it WAS working the dog was MUCH quieter. We could let her out in the back yard without having to call her right back in from barking like crazy at the neighbor's horses etc. So it DOES work, and we are VERY happy with it!! Yeah!!! And the kids are thrilled that she is not getting shocked. They were not happy that she was going to get shocked. I did not even realize it when I bought it, that is was not a shock, but a sound and a buzz device. So it was a double bonus it works, and it works without hurting her!! This is a great product and we are very happy with it. Not too expensive and does what it says it will do. win win.

We purchased this bark collar for our little Rat Terrior who would continually go wild barking at the passing neighbors everytime they passed.

We have looked at shock collars but didnt like the idea of hurting the dog, especially since ours is very small. Most reviews on the no shock collars were not very positive or successful. However when we saw this paticular No Bark Collar, the few reviews listed were positive. Still not very confident but needing a solution, we purchased it.

From the very first day it was placed on our dog, we saw immediate results. Our dog now goes through her daily routines in the yard without a bark! The collar is amazing. We have always had it set on the sound only option, never needing to set it to vibrate. However, she does know when its not on her and will bark as usual. We love the collar and HIGHLY recommend it!

I have to say this exceeded all expectations for me, in spite of one of them not working upon arrival (Amazon exchanged it with just one click so it's a non-issue).

I have two small Pomeranians and I've tried everything...spraying water, yelling "no", using a calming voice...saying "sit" and getting something to eat to distract, everything. These two dogs I adore still worked each other into a frenzy if ANY door is opened or they hear a noise. I could not even go out the back door for a minute without ear piercing barks and throwing their bodies at the door as though I had just entered the chamber of death never to return to them, and one of them even biting anyone's heels when leaving. In spite of training and sweetness in every other way, I have devil dogs upon open doors.

I would NEVER shock my dog for any reason, it would be as bad as shocking a child for misbehaving in my eyes. Yes, I know it's done and it works but I don't think that way. I had a citronella collar in the past when I had another dog who is now in heaven and I had roommates bothered by her barking. When she barked, it squirted a mist of citronella. I thought at the time it was very humane and now I have such regret after reading an article about how awful and almost painful that is for their sensitive noses and shouldn't ever be used. She only wore it for 6 months but I would never go that route again--and it was expensive and inconvenient always having to refill it. Too, it was really too bulky. I thought I was doing the kindest thing in training but I was wrong.

I put this on my loudest barker the first night it arrived and it was as though angels flew down from the clouds and whispered "sssshhhhh". Kismet barked once and it vibrated (I did this to myself and there is NO shock involved, no pain, truly like putting a back massager that barely works on your wrist. A soft vibration buzz. I couldn't imagine it making a dent in the devil dog bark extravaganza)--to my surprise, I opened the door, she lunged and barked then she looked around, confused, like "what the heck was that tickle?" She hasn't barked since except seemingly to test it with a half bark a couple times! We tested it with all the normal bark inducers, walking in and out, a knock on the door got half a bark...but it was the strangest thing I"ve ever seen. And to think of all the years I made guests wanna cover their ears and dreaded opening a knock at the door due to the insanity that ensued!

The best part is this truly is tiny and thin. My dog has actually NEVER worn a collar...we use a harness when she walks so I figured this would drive her mad as she is a small and very fluffy Pom. She shook her head once and that was it. This is not in the way AT ALL. It's only about 1/4" thick. She eats and drinks and plays without even knowing it's there.

If the vibration doesn't work, you can also have it make a high pitched sound. And you can set it on a higher vibration level. We didn't need to do either.

As I mentioned, the second one didn't work but Amazon exchanged it at no cost or charge for a new one (you can bark yourself to test it in a little dog pitched bark! I think the battery was dead on the second and though that's easy to replace, I shouldn't have to on a new unit so I instead exchanged it.) but the good part about that is I got to see that when the OTHER dog barked right next to Kismet, Kismet's collar didn't go off. I think it reads her throat vibration.

My other dog who had the anti-bark collar in the past learned instantly how to still communicate without barking if she needed to go outside by going "buff". Kismet does the same.

This is probably like the best thing I've bought this year. Right up there with the ipad, I swear. This is like the magical peace machine. And cheap! Two of these are less than the price of one citronella collar that requires refills and is way bulkier!

Cons: One didn't work upon arrival. Although it was exchanged free by Amazon, that still was an inconvenience. But for me there are no other drawbacks or issues with it.

UPDATE: After much use I can say a couple things: Still love it, still works BUT when not in use, like if you take it off for awhile, turn it off. The battery that comes with it runs down a little too quickly for my liking. No matter, we replace it and my dog learns instantly to hush again...but still it runs out faster than I would like so keep some spares on hand.

The collar is light and is powered by several button batteries, the type you find in watches. It has a Low-High adjustment for the beep/vibrate on one side, and a switch between Beep/Off/Vibrate on the other. The collar is not a quick release clip so you'll have to open up the strap each time you want to put it on your pet.

I have a Petsafe invisible dog fence and the collars. My dogs have learned beeping warning signs of being too close to the boundaries. This barking collar is perfect because it beeps/vibrates as opposed to shocks. The beeping tells my dogs to stop barking and that something is wrong. Just be careful if you have multiple dogs, one barking could set off the other, but could also deter the other from joining in on the barking.

I have a 20lb cockapoo and a 7 lb chiweenie and THANK GOD for this product, honestly. I ordered only one initially and planned to switch it back and forth between the two dogs until I was sure it worked and let me be clear here it does! I'm on here ordering collar #2 and see all the negative reviews, so had to write one myself.

Does it go off at random times for no good reason? At first, yes. But once the dog gets used to it, the dog avoids bumping into things and calms down a bit. Is that a bad thing to happen to a little dog? Hell no! Does it go off sometimes when there's a really loud noise nearby? Sure but that doesn't happen often. Unless you have construction going on in your house, I'm not sure that this is a valid concern.

For the cockapoo, I use the low setting on vibrate it's still kind of strong though, so I just don't have the collar tight against his neck. He used to bark NONSTOP when people walked by or came in my house, now he only barks a little bit and then stops. The vibration initially scared him (a lot) but he's used to it now and we're at a happy medium -for both of us, with him barking a bit and then stopping.

The chiweenie gets the lowest sound setting as the vibration would shake her whole body. The sounds works well enough for her and we've seen the same result it scared her quite a bit initially, but now instead of yapping at the air for an hour straight, she'll yip a few times and then gets annoyed with the sound so she stops. Again, happy medium.

I've tried lots of products (from silent whistles to shock collars) and this one is the best solution hands down. Don't listen to the haters on this one, trust me. If you buy it, give everyone a few weeks to adjust and it works just fine. It's not an instant fix, it takes getting used to and tweaking depending on your dog.

Sportdog Sd-105s Remote Large Dog Training Collar

Sportdog Sd-105s Remote Large Dog Training CollarI purchsed the SD-105S yard trainer for my Border collie mix to help with her tendency to chase cars. I have only had this product for a couple of weeks, but it has worked wonders. I no longer hesitate when taking her for walks off leash, the tone only option brings her right back to my side instantly. Highly recommend this product.

We own a large Doberman that is quite stubborn and unfortunately has quite a prey drive. We did not want to lose him over chasing squirrels into the street, so we opted to get him a shock collar. After much research, I determined this was the best shock collar for my budget ($200). This is great shock collar and i highly recommend it. I am very pleased with the quality and function. Like other reviewers have stated, you only need to shock your dog maybe twice before they get the association between the tone and shock. From that point on you give them tone only and they correct themselves.

Natural Chicken Breast Fresh Breath Treats for Dogs 15 Oz Made in USA

Natural Chicken Breast Fresh Breath Treats for Dogs 15 Oz Made in USAI am writing this review with the caveat that I bought them about 2.5 weeks ago and with the purchase price on each individual bag at $9.00. I just looked and today, the same bag is $23 and change PLUS $12 shipping. Big difference.

I bought 3 of these as I was looking for made in the USA Dog Chicken treats with no additional by products and/or chemicals. The treats do smell more than others that have chemicals as they don't use anything to mask the treat. I have two cavalier spaniels and they love the treats. I am confident in giving these treats to my dogs and happy they are not at risk of getting sick from bad chicken jerky.

At $9 a bag, this is a great product. But with the price I just saw at what amounts to $35 for a single bag, I would not buy again. I probably would find the nearest petco or order the colorado chicken jerky from petco online for a chicken jerky with similar pure ingredients.

Red Dingo Dog Lead, Large, Yellow

Red Dingo Dog Lead, Large, YellowThe wrist loop is very comfortable. It is well made and should last us a while. And, the yellow collar we bought to match looks great on our big black dog!

I have a 100lbs German Shepherd dog and purchased this leash (along with matching collar and harness) and I am pretty happy with it, it is beautiful yellow color, somewhat soft yet very strong material; looks like it's impossible to break. The padding at the end of the leash is very comfortable on my hands. Shipping was on time, overall I am satisfied, I would recommend this leash to anyone who cares for large dog(s).

The lead is durable, colour hasn't faded and the clasp is strong, looks great too. My only suggestion is that the handle needs to be stronger as it is a large dog lead and the length is too long I know it's adjustable but when there is a 60kg dog on the end u can't adjust much.

Zack & Zoey Nylon Brite Stripe Dog Collar, 11 to 14-Inch, RaspberryThis is a very pretty collar and does not look like something you got at a run-of-the-mill pet store. It is well-made and seems comfortable on my dog.

This collar is very pretty and my dog looks very cute in it. Just make sure you get the right size: I measured my dog's neckline and it was about 10 in so I ordered the 8-11 in size and it was too small, would not fit at all. The 11-14 in is perfect, though. she looks adorable in it.

Herm Sprenger Extra Hook Links for Dog Training Collar, Medium 3-MmThe only thing missing in the product description is the quantity of links provided. I saw other offers for less than 1/2 this price for 3 links, so I assumed this was for more links. It was not, only received three links.

*******UPDATE:******** The seller Sally at "Haute Dauge" has made several attempts to contact me and make this right. We connected through email and she offered me a refund and cleared up a few things that was simply a misunderstanding. Her product is the Stainless Steel version which would explain the cost and my mistake of it not being a Herm Sprenger because it didn't match my collar. It IS in fact a Herm Sprenger. There was also a misunderstanding with her importer about the size. At any rate, Sally was a pleasure to work with and really cares about her customers. I highly recommend doing business with Haute Dauge. No longer disappointed. In fact, I decided to keep the link for a larger collar I have so I've changed my rating from 1 Star to 4. Thanks Sally!
