SportDOG Copper-Plated Sports Bell

SportDOG Copper-Plated Sports BellI just adopted a Brittany Spaniel and was afraid to let him run loose while I hiked. This bell works very well. I can hear him when he is out of sight and don't have to be calling him all of the time, ruining the fun for both of us.

The nylon strap won't wear out like some of the metal "s" hooks I've had in the past. The bells are perfect--great sound and good size for my 60 to 70 pound dogs. I walk in the local state forest and these are a necessity during hunting season.

I use a bell to keep track of my dog's location when we are hiking in the woods. This one works well. The motion of him walking makes it jangle, and it is reasonably loud.

Calling it "copper plated" is a bit of a stretch. It looks more like copper-colored paint to me.

I've bought a number of bells that all look like this. The problem is that they don't last. The top loop is not securely welded to the bell body. After 6-9 months, it separates, and the bell quits working. For a $10 bell, it isn't that big of a deal, but it is frustrating that the company can't just weld it correctly and make a bell that lasts forever.

The dog who wears this bell is tough on equipment wears out collars, etc. I love that it allows me to know where he is AND it warns wildlife so we haven't had any skunkings or squirrel-i-cides since he's wearing this on our hikes.
