I'll keep this short and sweet. This product does not work. Don't waste your time or money. I didn't want to give it even one star.

We tried this with our yappy shih tzu. He barked at anyone walking by the house, as well as when someone came into the house. The Bark off worked the 1st few days we got it. After that he just ignored it. I thought the batteries ran out, cause we left it on 24 hours a day. New batteries had no effect.

We gave it to a friend to try on her barking dog. He ignored it from the first time they used it. It's a wonderful idea. Too bad it doesn't work.

This product doesn't work period... close distance, far distance, lo, hi... The product also mentions it is inaudible to humans, well... my right ear was hurting for a while after using the device while role playing with my dog by the door, and I was about 5' away from it! If you have sensitive ears... watch out!!! At least I had a coupon and didn't paid full price, but still I wasted my money.

We started using this with our schnauzer puppy -setting it on low. Worked for us. She doesn't bark in the house anymore unless someone comes to the door --which is acceptable dog behavior in our book. Took about 2 weeks for it to sink in. I'm thinking of putting one in a sheltered area outside -near the sidewalk where she still barks at passerbys (she is a dog afterall). This won't stop a dog from barking completely, but it will help your dog to distinguish when to use "inside voice." Like all training tools, you have to give it some time to work. Maybe we were successfull because our dog is relatively young...not sure what impact it will have on older dogs. I've recommended it to neighbors...and they are trying it!

After reading the other reviews, I'm thinking we got very lucky with this product. We purchased it from Bed Bath and Beyond after trying a $100 citronella bark collar that did not work with our pet, desperate for something to help stop the barking! We have two miniature dachshunds who really like to hear themselves yap while we are away, according to our neighbors. We set the BarkOff by the front door, near the couches where the dogs like to lay. After the first night with it on we saw an immediate improvement with their barking! Now, a week later, they aren't making a peep! We only turn it on when we are leaving the house because we are unsure exactly what noises might set it off apart from barking and do not want it sounding unnecessarily. For the price of this product, give it a try! We are so happy with the results.
