My older male dog, had begun to urinate in my living room after the introduction of a new younger male into the household. I never was able to catch him doing it so correcting the behavior effectively was just not happening. I purchased a large scat mat and a large extention and placed them on either side of the coffee table leg that my dog had repeatedly urinated on. The first afternoon it was down, I noticed a few drops of urine on the mat, cleaned it up and waited. For several days no dog went near the area, then the old fella must have forgotten and revisited one more time. It has been over a week with no accidents anywhere in the house. Hurray! Hurray! A problem that I have been trying to catch and correct for several months is finally under control! I plan to leave the mats in place for a few months just to insure the lesson is reinforced if need be and the behavior does not begin again.

I really like this product and would highly recommend to anyone with a similar problem. For those of you who worry about using something intended to give a shock, this is a static shock, like when you shuffle across the carpet and then touch a doorknob. My husband forgot and three times stepped on it with his bare feet in the same night. He said that it was not painful just startling and bit unpleasant. Come to think of it, I haven't seen him in the living room lately either (lol).

I cant believe how effective this mat is. one of our cats decided she owned our master bedroom and bed, to the point bad things were happening in our sleep. we tried everything, this was our second to last resort. We ordered the large version with battery only and placed it in front of our bedroom door. all it took was one step on the mat and the cats (2) will not go past the door way into the bedroom. We have had the mat for about 3 months now. The cats understand the mat has something to do with the shock, so we have to leave it out so they wont re-enter the bedroom, but it has been disabled for a month (we dont have a battery in it any more). just the presence of the mat keeps them away from the room. we tried touching the mat ourselves, thinking if the cats were going to go thru this we need to have an idea of what the effect was. it is similar to a mild static shock on the high setting. You can hold your hand on it getting 'shocked' repeatedly with only mild discomfort. I think it is more the scare factor that keeps the cats away.

I bought the scat mat on a last ditch, exasperated hope. My headboard is wide and serves as a bookshelf, nightlight, storage cubby. My cat, Squirt*, has determined it is the perfect spot to lie waiting for his snoozing family to wake in the morning. The alarm goes off, he hops down to snuggle and in a few minutes the day begins. All is fine until the weekend comes along. No alarm on weekends. I can hear his thoughts as I try to enjoy an extra precious 30 minutes of sleep: Why are my people sleeping so long? Where is my attention? Where is my breakfast? Hellooo, hungry bored cat here! Oh look! Mini blinds right next to me!

And so the flapping of the blinds begins. First it's a subtle little thwack of metal. Then we progress to full on banging. Then it's yowling and banging. I reach over my head and grab the little furry heathen, and kindly air-lift (aka launch) him to the foot of the bed. I must have some serious half-asleep pitching skills because the cat always lands on the bed and becomes an immediate projectile right back to the headboard.

Sadly, this has been going on for years. It has taken me this long to crack. My options: continue conceding and get up early, get a new bed or maybe, just maybe, the scat mat would work. (in our home getting rid of the pet is never an option).

I started the setting on low and tested it. The shock isn't more than when you pet them in the static of winter and shock their nose or ear. I certainly wasn't willing to use something so powerful I couldn't tolerate it myself. After a test run on each of the settings I decided it was annoying but not likely painful for him at all.

The morning after the set-up was interesting. He was waiting contently at the foot of the bed. Odd, I thought, but not completely unusual. The next morning I lay there, eyes half closed and waiting. He approached the headboard from my husband's side of the bed (away from the scat mat) , jumped up, and lay next to it patiently waiting. That was the give away. He'd obviously met the mat. I checked the indicator light and it did reflect it had been triggered.

While I never saw the mat meeting incident, we've had it set up for a month now and he hasn't once thwacked the blinds. Why on earth didn't I buy this thing sooner? For less than $50 I have my weekend alarm-free sleep back! I can imagine countless applications for various pets and their behavioral schemeing. Doorways, trash cans, furniture, if you have a challenge and a little imagination, this thing can work wonders.

I just tried this earlier in the day, this is very effective. I tested this mat out on myself first with the high setting, I decided to keep the shock to medium/ low setting for my cat as she is a petite 12 lb cat. Kitty likes to hop on the counter then on the top of the fridge then on top of the cabnites near the ceiling, I don't need paw prints on my counter thank you very much, much less the germs from the litter box or walking round on the floor where I prepare food. Well to test the mat I put the setting on medium and put the mat in a doorway I prefer my cat not use, she jumped two feet in the air and ran so fast I could not help but laugh, needless to say she has not used that doorway since then. I will leave this on the kitchen counter for a few days(I'll be sure to clear the area) to ensure kitty learns to stay off the counter. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the harness itself.

What I had a problem with was the smell when I opened the package. The odor was like a strong stale cigarette smoke, I actually had to soak it in soapy water to try to get rid of the smell. I would suggest no smoking in the area that this item is kept.

I have purchased other harnesses on line and did not have the same problem.

This product works like magic for my 100 lb black lab. He always used to pull really bad and as soon as this was on him he started walking at my side perfectly. Also, the duo tone of the harness helps you remember what side goes on top and what side goes on bottom.

One day at the dog park there was a lady with a mastiff (150 lb) and I had her try the easy walk harness on him (we refit it) and take him for a walk and he instantaneously turned into a sweet angel when she walked him. I'm pretty sure she is going to switch from a prong collar to an easy walk :)

The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that when I used it for a long walk he ended up with pretty bad irritation under his front arm pits. It was from the harness pushing his legs closer to his body during our 2 mile walk. We took him to the vet (it was pretty bad) and he went on antibiotics and now we just throw some Gold Bond powder on his arm pits before we take him out and we haven't had a problem since!

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has a dog who pulls or anyone who has children and wants their kids to be able to walk the dog without worries!

Easy Walk Harness - Large, Royal Blue

This is the only harness that we have found effective for walking our Rhodesian Ridgeback and which is made of solid/strong materials by design. Instead of encouraging him to pull harder (like a top connecting harness would) this gently draws in at the connection point at front of his chest and encourages him to look around and focus on us. He is 7 months old and and has already broken out of a similarly designed by breaking the plastic buckles which connect the front and girth straps.

How did I survive before without this leash? Hands-free leash lets you get your dog and retrieve the groceries, shopping bags, etc all at the same time. I use it to go get my mail, get things in/out of my car, shopping, and just about everywhere else in between. I no longer have to worry about juggling things.. It's one less thing to worry about! We even use it while skateboardingthe bungee cord is a wonderful safety feature. The latch also merits mention bc you dont have to pull down the clasp to open it like most traditional latches. It's a single motion latch-on. So smooth.

Also, the handle with reflective band is great for city sidewalk walking, where you need a short/tight handle on your dog.

The only thing I would change is making the leash length adjustable and the adjustable waist even smaller (I am using it without the fanny pack. Although its good for keeping poop bags and tissues, it adds length to the leash and I just don't need it). I'm average weight and the waist hits lower on my waist than I would like. But overall, I've found this leash to be worth every penny.

First of all, I hardly ever write reviews, so that should show you right away how much I like this leash. Second of all, I didn't even buy it from amazon, but the website I ordered from doesn't have a comment or review submission box, so I decided to say something about it here...because I like it so much :)

I was impressed with this leash right awayright out of the package, it felt much more durable than I expected it to be. I was wary of the nylon loops the leash is supposed to attach to, thinking they might be too flimsy to accommodate the tugging of my 50 lb. dog on our jogs, but they actually seem to be incredibly sturdy. The fanny pack is an added bonus! I usually stick my keys and my phone in my bra when I jog, but it's SO uncomfortable and I've had stuff fall out on more than one occasion. It's surprisingly handy having your stuff zippered and secure. The quick-release feature of the leash is also pretty cool because you can keep the belt (and your personal belongings stashed in the fanny pack) on your body. I haven't needed to do this yet, but I can see how it would be useful for getting in and out of the car with your dog.

The bungee leash is awesome. My dog can speed up or slow down as she pleases without getting whiplash or jerking me around. The elastic waistband complements the gentle give of the leash, so all of our walks and jogs go very smoothly now. I feel very little (if any) resistance, and no sudden jerks whatsoever.

I honestly don't think the leash is too long at all, but my neighborhood has very little traffic so I very rarely have to grab the safety loop to keep my dog out of harm's way. I can, however, see how the elasticity and length of the leash could lead to some safety issues...if you needed to grab your dog quickly, the leash will stretch at LEAST another 10" or 12" before you'd have enough tension to pull him to your side. Obviously, exercise caution and be aware of your surroundings; I really think you'll enjoy this product as much as I do. Money well spent!

I have used this for 10 walks so far, each walk is just under 3 miles. My dog is 27 lbs., male, and likes to pee on every corner as we walk. Not that he needs to pee, just likes to "pee-mail" all his buddies.... this is not good for a brisk work out/walk and I just could not break him of this habit. I was using the extendable leashes for the last 4 years but my arm was getting more and more sore from the jerking it took each time he would stop too long to pee. I ignored it the best I could until one day last month I went to pick up something and got a terrible jolt of pain from my ear all the way down my arm.... the same areas that are strained during the walks. That was it, time to find a different solution. I am SO HAPPY WITH THIS LEASH it is hard to say enough. This is basically a very nice fanny pack with elasticized straps that adjust to fit your shape. The pack hold my house keys, dog poop bags, id, and iPhone with room enough for some money, too. There is a little hole you can put ear buds or the dog poop bags through so you can just pull them out or not hold your iPhone if you want to listen to music while walking. Also, when you adjust the waist straps be sure to fold them tightly and then use the attached band to hold them to the desired spot. One time I did not fold them tightly enough and the first good pull my dog made it came loose but once I did it correctly that problem was solved immediately. The leash detaches from the waist and you can hook it to either side, which is very handy. Also, and this is the best part for my situation, the leash itself also has a bungee type elastic built into the leash and this alleviates the pull when my dog tries to sneak a quick pee....also, my dog learned (from the very first walk) that this leash is prohibitive to his pee stops and he does not try to do it nearly as often now....

The best part of all is my arm is almost back to normal! Plus, I had forgotten just how wonderful it is to really get to swing my arms while I'm walking, which really improves my gait, posture and stamina. I love this leash and I highly recommend it. I am so glad I decided to buy it.... it is pricey but IMO it is worth it..... it seems really well made. If anything goes wrong with it I will be back to update my review.

**update 10/9/12** have continued to use approx. 5 6 times a week since purchase in August. I only like it more and have zero complaints. Although, my dog stays either right behind me or just to my side on our walks. He rarely goes in front of me but I could see where that could be a little scary, as another reviewer stated here, as your dog could, conceivably, dart out and away from you. I do not work out by a road but if I did and my dog was the "prey driven" type I would definitely keep my hand on the leash which might defeat the purpose for you. Other than that, I still love and highly recommend. My dog has pulled on this so many times, and so hard, and the leash is holding up incredibly well. My shoulder appreciates not getting jerked out of the socket, too.

I have a couple of similar products. But this one is my new gold standard. The leash has a loop handle near the clasp that let's you quickly be able to control you dog and keep it close to you (with my others, you have to grab on to the stretchy piece, which works okay with my dog, but wouldn't be my choice with a larger or less well behaved dog). I like the ability to hook a second lead on the other side. The bag is small, but I prefer that. And it is well set up -a special spot for poop bags, and an opening so that you can pull one through without unzipping the bag; a clip for your keys; and room enough for plenty of treats if you keep them small. Materials are high quality, and I love the color. A bit on the spendy side, I think. But for me, worth it.

I love this product for the belt, which works great for storing treats, my phone, baggies and anything else I need for a training session. I recently started using the belt with the leash and the first trip out my rescue dog pulled apart the plastic clip and got free to chase a squirrel. A stronger clasp or different connection would be preferred, but I love the handle and bungee section on the leash and will find a way to alter the original to suit my needs. A well trained dog would probably not have this problem.

We started using this with our schnauzer puppy -setting it on low. Worked for us. She doesn't bark in the house anymore unless someone comes to the door --which is acceptable dog behavior in our book. Took about 2 weeks for it to sink in. I'm thinking of putting one in a sheltered area outside -near the sidewalk where she still barks at passerbys (she is a dog afterall). This won't stop a dog from barking completely, but it will help your dog to distinguish when to use "inside voice." Like all training tools, you have to give it some time to work. Maybe we were successfull because our dog is relatively young...not sure what impact it will have on older dogs. I've recommended it to neighbors...and they are trying it!

i have a dog that i trained to go potty in the house. these are the best i have ever tried. i'm just sorry that the stores i go to, target, petsmart, walmart don't carry these any more. just in case i have run low. so i'm glad i found them online and at such a greater savings. i wanted to order them in the larger count size, but they were out of them at the time. i hope they have them in stock now. you can even "rub hard" on the pad to wipe up dog dodo. i have rubbed really hard just to see how well they stand up they don't rip or anything. i even spray dog rug cleaner on it to make it cleaner where he goes potty. and the pkg states that it wicks away the pee quickly. and it sure does. and when you open them up you can shake it like a towel to open it up for the floor and not worry it's going to rip or the inner padding shift. the other type of pads if you hold them up to the light, you'll see how sparce the padding is. and any other brand does not hold a candle to this brand's deodorizing quality. try them.

I have a large dog, and these pads don't always contain moisture at the edges. They work fairly well when hit squarely in the center, but required frequent mopping to clean spillovers in the area. I won't buy these pads again.

One of my dogs will not walk on the wet grass outside, so has decided to use the garage. My only hope until solving this issue is putting down pads. The Hartz large size pads have worked better for me than any other I've tried. They are hard to find, so at least now I have a source. The typical "puppy" pads are useless with a medium sized adult dog. I should try for a sponsorship from Hartz!

I've purchased a lot of pads in an attempt to try to find the best. This is by far the worst pad for leaking! Although it says "Guaranteed floor protection and leak-proof disposal" in the description, don't believe it. My dog always goes in the corners of the pads. These pads are unable to contain liquid around the corners/edges. It just leaks right off. So the 12-hour claim might be accurate IF your dog can go right in the center. Also, I don't have a "large" dog. He's only 17 pounds!

My dogs are already becoming efficient on the jump after just a few hours of play off and on throughout the day.

With my dachshund this is very interactive and easier on his joints than the jump. Very easy to put together and tear down. No screws or snaps. Just put the poles in like pegs. Even if you aren't serious about doing real agility it's a good thinking and physical exercise for indoors. When the snow melts i'll have to see how well it does outdoors. If it blows i'm sure you could weigh it down in the middle and ends with something like small sand bags or even a bag of rice.

note: when i originally ordered the set from pricebully the jump was 11.99, the poles, 16.99 and the chute was 19.99. So I would look around for a lower price before buying to see if you can find it cheaper first.

Low cost but heavy duty enough to set up in yard and use daily. My mini aussie is 17" and he works them just fine.

I borrowed this same exact set from a friend who bought it at a bargain outlet store for $7.99. For $7.99 it might be worth the aggrivation. If paying regular price of $20+ don't bother. The poles are hard to get into the fittings and don't stay well. I was using for a dog training class and it took my assistant and I forever to get it together and then it kept coming apart. Luckily I didn't have many dogs going through it. Using PVC piping and fittings purchased at my local hardware store, I made a set for myslef for under $25.00 that is much easier to put together. There is a part that had to be ordered on-line as I could not get at either Home Depot, Lowes or the 3 plumbing supply stores I went to. The part which has to be ordered on-line is the 4 way tee which you would need 2 of. This part is apparently considered to be furniture grade PVC. I got the piece on-line at FORMUFIT. They also have downloadable instructions on their site on how to make a jump, a pause box and weave poles. However, their weave poles require more of the 4 way tees than copying this set.

I was quite skeptical to buy these weave poles, but am very happy that I did. The assembly was quick and easy. The poles are of good quality and they stand up well. They are the perfect size for my small dog, but my large dog can use it also.

My dogs liked these products, but I have since switched to only giving them products made in the USA and food/treats which do not include meat by-products. I don't always trust USA manufacturers, but they do have fewer quality control problems than some foreign countries I could name.

Premier Busy Buddy Tug-a-Jug Treat Dispensing Dog Toy

This toy takes more effort to get food out than the Buster Cube, which I like because it occupies the dog longer. I find that the cube, even on its "hardest" setting only takes a few minutes to get out most of the food, and then the rest doesn't come out no matter how long the dogs work it. With the bottle the dogs can get nearly all the food out if they keep at it.

At first you should fill the bottle so that it is over half full. This way food can come out more easily when it is on its side. This will encourage the dog to play with it. Once the food level goes down food will only come out as they toss and pull the bottle. It took my dog a few days to get to this, but now she seems to have mastered it. She stands the bottle up and knocks it over, putting food into the neck, then she works the rope a bit and manages to get a piece of kibble out. When I first got the toy I thought she would never be able to figure it out, but she has. Even so, it takes a fair amount of work to get out just a few pieces of food, so it can keep them occupied all day.

Our 16 month old yellow lab loves to play with empty 2 liter pop bottles. I bought him this toy because I worried he would cut his mouth and gums on the sharp plastic shards of those flimsy bottles. No worry about that with the Tug-a-Jug...this toy will most likely survive through the next millennium!

To fill with treats, just twist off the bottom; couldn't be easier. It's a lot of fun watching our dog figure out how to get at the goodies inside.

I honestly don't think the rope pull is going to last very long; especially if you are buying this for an aggressive chewer. However, don't let that stop you from buying the tug-a-jug. Even without the rope, it's still a great and challenging toy.

Tucker was nervous about this toy at first (as you'll see in the video) but really warmed up to it quickly and has enjoyed gnawing on it. However, this has not worked very well for us as a treat dispenser. I consider Tucker to be quite a clever puppy, but after fiddling with the tug-a-jug for a couple days, he just began bringing the thing to me and dropping it at my feet for me to dispense the treats for him. (I suppose that may be evidence of just how clever he is!)

I have a medium size dog 38 pounds. He enjoys to chew on things but I have never thought of him as a heavy chewer. The night I received this he was so excited about it. It was so tempting to see, hear and smell the treats. Well, within 20 minutes the toy was in the garbage. He chewed off the rubber toy that blocks the treats from coming out. He then started to chew where the smell of the treats is able to escape. The plastic fell apart so easily! He then started to break off little pieces. I woudl not recommend this for a medium or large sized dog!

I was very disappointed with the tug-a-jug. It came in the mail today. The dog had it for 5 minutes and she had the rubber rope chewed in half in that short amount of time. A waste of money for me. I have yet to find something that this black lab doesn't destroy in record time.
