For anyone interested in getting a Pug, but absolutely knows nothing about the breed, this is the level 100 intro. It doesn't cover Pug specific health problems such as sensitivity to high heat, cleaning, etc. It is only the most basic of basic information. Only the first 15-20 minutes of the video actually cover the Pug. The remaining part of the disc is a generic training video with another type of dog, Aussie, I think. My real praise for the video is just for the cute factor of the Pug puppy featured in the DVD. He is a star in the making. The music on the video is repeated throughout and can be quite annoying.

There is a lot of information specific to pugs like; shedding, overheating, housetraining issues, as well as their eyes. This was not covered. It was very generic about dogs. I think the title is misleading.

The product itself is excellent. I have a high-drive 75lb German Shepard and the highest setting I have to use for a correction is 50. This may seem like a lot but realize the charge is going through three coats of fur. I tried this setting on myself and while it does get your attention it does not hurt.

The unit is rechargeable and easy to use. Also, once you lock in the level of correction you want you don't have to worry about accidentally raising/lowering the correction level.

The workmanship on these is definitely superior, but the leather is very stiff. I even treated it a few times with mink oil to soften it up; limited success. It was a hassle to return, so I ended up chucking it in a bin for the next yard sale.

Good quality and just what I was looking for. My dog is a Chow Chow and has a very thick coat, especially around his neck. All of the typical nylon collars are horrible when it comes to causing the mattes in his fur. The rolled leather collar helps keep him matte-free. Also received this in a very timely manner.

Simple Solution Potty Training Aid 16oz

After seeing some of the earlier reviews I was a bit skeptical about this product. I got it anyway because it was only $6 and if it works cool and if not then whatever, I'll just go back to what I was doing before. Yorkies are notorious for being difficult to housebreak. With this, and earlier reviews, in mind I really didn't have high expectations. The first time we took her out and sprayed she went right away! I've had it for a week now and everyday she goes when I spray it and has started to go without me spraying. This worked for me. While she doesn't go in the exact spot that I sprayed she will sniff the area and then about 30-45 seconds to 1 minute later relieve herself.

Simple Solutions is a good brand, but this product is a huge FAIL! i would spray the area where i wanted my dog to use the bathroom & instead of going to the spot, it seemed like he would avoid it. When he did go over to the spot, he would lick the sprayed area. As far as training my dog, it didn't work for me.

I can't say that this works on training pads because I don't use them to potty train my dogs, but I have been using it on my PupPad (the artificial grass potty training pad), and the spray seems to work in conjunction with the pad. I've washed the PupPad numerous times, so the original "dog pee scent" has been washed away, and after spraying the pad again with this spray, my 5 month old puppy knows to go potty on it. I haven't tested it on any other training pads, so I can't say that it works 100%. It does seem to work on the artificial grass though.

Without immersion I had two fail after the dog ran in shallow water at the beach. Otherwise, while they worked the dog responded very well and only needed a vibration or beep to remind him when needed. After the last failure I continued to have him wear the defunct collar, and he still behaved well; well almost. Unless you live in a dry area, don't waste your money.

I will probably always have one of this on my dog since we do a lot of night time walks. Issues: 1. Batter use is a bit high. 2. Reflective strip is going away within a few months. 3. Fiber optic element pulls out easily but can be put back easily as well. 4. Not waterproof just water resistant be forewarned. 5. Easily slide back to full size position with current clasping mechanism. All these issues aside I have purchased several for friends and relatives due to the safety factor. Better than a hanging medallion in medium and short haired dogs collar tends to disappear in long coated dogs.

Even though my dog is on a lease it is still dark when I walk. I really like the quality.

Housebreaking / Training Pads-DTP4

I have had several house trained dogs for 15 years and these are the most absorbant pads I have found. They are more expensive but worth the extra cost because less expensive products are not as absorbant and require more frequent replacement. Also, cheaper pads bunch up when they have been urinated on and leak through.

My black lab could definitely feel the shock. I don't like to shock her, so after a few warnings, we switched to the vibrate. It seems like the device take too long to respond after it falls to sleep. I have to hit the mode button a few times, then I'm checking to make sure it's not on shock, by that time she's annihilated what ever she was getting in trouble for LOL.

I think if you are using this device during a training session, it would be GREAT! As a deterrent of bad behavior using only occasionally, not so much. I love that it is rechargeable, and it doesn't seem uncomfortable for the 75+ lb "puppy". You can't go wrong with the price...

I have 7 dogs. Some prefer to stare me down when they have to go out, some just cry. My English bulldog loves to ring these bells. She rams into them and creates a loud noise, but at least I know that she has to go out. I never really taught her how to use them...I just hung them on the patio door and she watched one of my other dogs. It took her a while, but now she uses her bells all the time. She just turned 1 and has been potty trained since she was about 4 months old. These bells help a lot. Of course, there are false alarms...sometimes she just wants to go and play. But, I'll take that over accidents on the carpet any day!

English Bulldogs are NOT the easiest dogs to train (nor are they the brightest), but she seemed to catch on well.

My dog has learnt to tap the bell and we totally love it. Even with a slight tap, the ring/chime (whatever) is audible and you can then attend to the dogs need. The bell is just very effective.

Innotek Train-INN-FS15 Free Spirit Basic Remote Trainer

I gave it a 3 star only because after 2 days, I had it on my dogs and also had another collar with the tags and it would lose the connection from the collar to the remote. The only way to fix it was to remove the battery in the collar and put it back in. I called the customer service on the product. More than likely I will send the product back because I had a previous collar from Innotek that I thought stopped working but suddenly started and much prefer it. I have had it for 13 years.

Have tried a few different sprays that are supposed to keep the dogs from chewing. Our little pommeranian mix disliked a couple of them but our cattle dog mix liked the taste of them and would chew even more. This one worked the first time! They had both started chewing on the corner of my hope chest and I sprayed it on the area they had chewed on. Both dogs just had to lick to see what it was. The faces they made were comical and the water dish was soon in use. They will not chew or lick anything with this on it...just the smell reminds them how bad it tastes.

Our dog trainer recommends using Grannick's but you must put a spray inside the dog's lip when you spray it on furniture. Then the dog remembers the intensity of that experience next time he even faintly tastes it. It works much longer that way. The real fix is to always crate your puppy when out of your view.

We've used the Gentle Leader with two dogs, and with patience, they are a great training tool and a relief from dogs that pull. The key is to start when they are puppies, if you have that ability. You have to make sure they are properly fitted that being tight enough on the nose and the back of the head. So make sure you buy the correct size, which means if you adopt a puppy which grows into a larger dog, you'll have to invest in another at some point. The good news is, you'll have the smaller one for when you adopt your next dog!

We have a lab puppy that is 5 months old. I have been struggling with the martingale collar trying to teach her to 'walk' rather than run and pull and make a complete mess of our quality walk time (I do it twice a day as she is full of beans and needs 2 x 20 min walks, and am the reluctantly nominated 'leader of the pack'!). I have been increasingly frustrated and have been feeling emotional rage towards our lovable puppy.

I am disappointed with this product. The collar is very very narrow in width, not wide like the plain style medium sized one from Gentle Leader even though it's the same size. The clasp to keep the muzzle part in place won't stay put so it is constantly falling off my dog's muzzle. I've used other gentle leaders before and this one just wasn't the same quality.

I purchased this as a recommendation of our vet...my dog HATES it!! I have given up on the head collar entirely and use the leash with a harness. She is happier, and I can actually get her to WALK instead of constantly rubbing her face into the ground or with her paws to get the silly thing off. Even with the instructional DVD I can see no advantage to investing any more time or aggravation into using the head collar. Turned out to be an expensive leash...maybe it just didn't fit her properly, either way, I will not try a head collar again
