Trekking Dog Harness

I was very satisfied with this harness when I first took it out of package. It was just what I was looking for very sturdy and well-made. I got it for my 22 pound jack russell mix. Well, I thought it was great until I tried it on him. I adjusted the straps and it fit him very well, except for one area. The second strap went right over his, well, let's say if my dog was a female, it would have been a perfect fit. There was just no way getting the second strap buckled and adjusted without it being right over his boy part. So unfortunately it is useless to me and my dog. But, I repeat, if I had a girl dog, we would both be loving it. (I also want to add that this probably won't be an issue if you have a medium or large male dog, probably will just affect the small male dogs.)

I purchased the medium harness for my dog. She is 47 pounds of muscle with a 15 inch neck and 26.5 inch chest. At first I wasn't too sure this would work for us since she is very muscular with a deep chest and lean back end, but we made it work. Be patient if you have a wiggly dog; this harness has 5 different adjustments. For my dog, this is how I adjusted it: The two upper buckles from the chest pad are adjusted pretty far down, maybe two inches left on either side to work with. The first strap doesn't have too much room left in the event she grows, as you can see in the picture I posted. The bottom strap of the chest pad is adjusted as small as it would go; still a hair big, but it still works. The rear strap is adjusted pretty small, but I did leave it a bit loose so she isn't uncomfortable when she sits down.

Color: The color wasn't really what I expected, but I like it much better that what the picture shows. On my computer it looks like the harness is grayish/tan with a reddish trim; although the color is noted as 'olive'. It is actually a greenish/gray color with brown trim.

The harness appears to be very well made and quite sturdy and I REALLY like that the straps have padding for comfort. The handle on top is a nice touch, too. If you are looking for a solution to pulling this probably isn't the product for you. (In my opinion the only solution to pulling is diligent training.) When we initially set out on our hike it seemed to help with her pulling quite a bit, but as she got comfortable with it she tended to pull more, especially when she picked up a really exciting scent she wanted to follow. I will say that it did give me more control over her and I did not have to worry about damaging her trachea from her pulling. Another plus--I'm pretty confident that this harness will not pull over her head as a previous one did. I'm not sure yet if this will work out for summer since it gets so hot here, but we'll be sure to put it to the test.

One more note...Although the company is in GA; the harness is made in India if that is a deciding factor.

This is the best harness on the market. Not only does it function as a harness but also as a seatbelt for our dog. I have two greyhounds, which are soft seeking missiles. They're not happy just laying on the floor for very long and get fussy, because they don't have much body fat or thick fur for padding. Their beds at home are kuranda beds, which is another type of cot-style bed that is designed for heavy use. They're wonderful but you can't really travel with them AND the dogs unless you have a large vehicle. I've forsaken the large expensive "mega pillow" style beds because they're hard to clean and you have to replace them basically every year after they go flat, and besides, they also have the same bulk problem for traveling. So, my poor hounds have had to just travel with these roll up fleece beds I bought from a greyhound adoption group.

So, I was really excited to find this bed. I hardly ever see this style of bed for large dogs, and when I have, they're really expensive, which isn't worth it for a bed they're only going to use maybe 10-15 times a year. It's the perfect size one greyhound. I actually just ordered a 2nd one for my other dog. There was no assembly required, I just unfolded the bed and put on the fitted sheet. I just had to pat on the bed and my dog laid on it immediately and looked pleased.

The metal frame seems to be really sturdy and good quality. The canvas isn't anything spectacular, it's not like the stuff on my kuranda beds. It's the kind you'd find on one of those $20 canvas folding chairs. However, at this price point, that's ok. Also, they reinforced the canvas at some critical points with webbed nylon strapping. That, plus the quilted fitted sheet should negate the low quality canvas. When collapsed, the bed fits nicely in the back of my Jetta's trunk.

Premier Pet Leash

I originally bought this leash to match the harness which seemed pretty good. My fiance was walking our puppy one night and was getting into the elevator when the leash popped off. He told me this and I got worried. We live in the city and cars do not care nor stop for anything or anyone. I bought another premier leash thinking that maybe the leash was not properly put on or that one might've been defective. Since the company seemed like a reputable one, I bought another leash to replace it. This time I was NOT so lucky. I was walking my baby this morning and the leash just popped off. My baby knowing where the dog run is wanted to go and was running across a large avenue and was struck by a bus. She is now in the ICU of a veterinary hospital. How can a company continue to sell a leash that is NOT secure???!!!!! What's the point of the leash?????!!!!!! These are our babies that they are putting in danger. PLEASE do not risk getting this leash it is not worth it.

I bought a premier leash in 08 and it released my dog several times. Freaked me out. I've had no trouble with the collar but wont be buying the leash again.

The function of a leash is to stay connected to the dog. Whats up with that Premier! NOT COOL! Hope its been redesigned.

The closure on the leash is poor. My dog escaped twice before I realized there was a real problem with this leash. The first time I had assumed I didn't get it fully attached to the loop on his collar. The second time he broke free it was a night on a very busy urban street. If he would have wandered off it would have been over! We got back home and my husband and I tested it by attaching the leash to the collar and pulling. The collar repeatedly broke free of the leash with minimal effort. I have not used the leash since and certainly would never buy it again.

I bought this leash at the animal shelter where I adopted my dog. Even though it's only been a week, this leash has come off of his collar twice. As soon as I got my dog safely home, I sat and figured out what the problem is. The reason it pops off is the ring on the collar twists up against the trigger and pushes it back just far enough to release the ring. It WILL happen eventually if the ring gets in the right position. In my case, I was using this leash with a Gentle Leader collar. The ring on that collar is a very small diameter and round. I think this leash might work better with a collar that had a D-ring of a very thick diameter, but I'm not willing to risk it.

I have another leash with a smaller more rounded trigger. I tried the same set up and I was unable to pop the trigger.

If you already own this leash, consider replacing it or figuring out a backup method to keep it attached when it does fail.

Years ago I had a saxophone neck strap with that exact kind of clasp on it. After about the third time I caught my 1960 Selmer Mark VI tenor by the thumb hook, I scrapped the strap. The problem with that kind of hook is if you attach it to a small ring, the proximal side of the ring can push on the opening mechanism while giving the distal side leverage to push through the opening.

Perfect length and thickness for keeping the dog in one spot overnight near the family. He doesn't whine anymore!! Sleeps through the night.

It is very hard to find chain leashes any more. They are good for years and years. This one is not only strong enough for our Jack Russell monster puppy, it is beautifully made and attractive. It should take Gracie's whole lifetime to wear it out.

This chain leash is not very good for large breed dogs. The leash is long enough; however, it is not really 1/2 (.5) inches thick. It's about 1/4 thick; which, if you're expecting to put it to a though/mean large breed dog. It will hurt your hands, rip apart the nylon handle, or snap altogether.

I will use the Chain b/c I'm using it on my docile female old-English shepherd which was trained not to pull.

Finally, the clasp is way too small. If you want to use it to grab a multi-ring collar, it won't work for you.

If you need a though and decent-medium chain leash, this is not the chain you want.

I recommend the Coastal Pet Titan over this one for a large breed dog.

We have two chihuahua's that go outside 90% of the time, occasionally if the weather is bad we have to let them use the pad in our bathroom upstairs. I was looking for a pad that would fit our 25x30 tray, but the measurements on this pad also includes the non-absorbant 2" border so these pads are more like 26x26 of usable pad. I wasn't impressed. We've had to double these up and thankfully they are almost used up so we can go back to our old (more expensive brand). The absorbancy is also just average, but if you only have one small dog and it fits your tray I'm sure they do the job.

I wanted something more durable than the "regular" Puppy Bumper for my very active young dog. The "Ultra" Puppy Bumper costs a little more than the regular Puppy Bumper, but was well worth the extra price to me. The straps that hook onto the dog collar are made of a sturdy webbing type material and these are well sewn into the thick cotton bumper. My 10 lb dog is always chasing butterflies, flying leaves, bugs, frogs, and anything else that moves and he can easily slide or push his way through our wrought iron gate to get to them. I have absolutely no fear that this bumper will come apart on him. I never leave this guy out unsupervised, but now I can work in the yard and let him play without having him leashed or my constantly looking over my shoulder to see where he is. It looks like he is wearing a life preserver, but I guess that is what it is to me. He looks cute in the Tropical Fantasy design.

Something that could be an issue is the weight of the Ultra Puppy Bumper. It is made of a thick cotton material and may be heavy for really small dogs especially in hot humid climates like where I live. I plan on using it sparingly when my dog is outside only, not for long periods of time. He doesn't seem to mind wearing it, though. It was not yet available for Amazon Prime shipping when I purchased it on Amazon.com, but I would buy it from the merchant again.

I would recommend, with the caveat that only even-tempered people should use these on dogs. (Ok, only even-tempered people should _own_ dogs...) It is a very effective method of instant punishment, but punishment is only effective if coupled with praise and reward for good behavior.

That said, the product doesn't use too much current and the vibrate feature is very humane. Buy a pair of rechargable AAA batteries, since the collar drains them any time the dog is wearing the collar (whether or not it has been discharged).

This collar is very weak. I even put brand new batteries in and it was still very weak, I could hold it against my hand and barely feel anything. It had no affect on any of my dogs and they are short haired medium size dogs. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Save the trouble and spend the extra money for a nicer collar.

We bought this for our medium sized houd/terrier mix. Our front yard isnt fenced and we wanted a way to let her out to play and run without going into the streetwhich is what she always didwe would call and she would ignore us, she was a rescue pet so she was grown when we got her. Our budget is tight so we bout this collar inspite of the bad reviews. It works GREAT! we have hardly had to use the shock, the vibrate gets her attention. Be sure to put the batteries in corectly and leave the lower switch on the same frequency or it wont work. batteries to drain out of it, we only leave it on her for short amounts of time anywayas I recomend you do. The collar will loosen a little but you really cant beat the quality for the price. Remote is nice easy to use except the on off and 3 frequency switches are not marked and were a little confusing. when we couldnt get it to work we re-set it and figured out it was the frequency switch on another setting. I say GO!

Innotek Train-INN-FS15 Free Spirit Basic Remote Trainer

I gave it a 3 star only because after 2 days, I had it on my dogs and also had another collar with the tags and it would lose the connection from the collar to the remote. The only way to fix it was to remove the battery in the collar and put it back in. I called the customer service on the product. More than likely I will send the product back because I had a previous collar from Innotek that I thought stopped working but suddenly started and much prefer it. I have had it for 13 years.
