this is a great snap on when training but it is quit large for puppies whom are the ones in training and for smaller dogs, I just snap it on to me or the leash, for a puppy she/he will be dragging it. the quality is great.

Easy Walk Harness (S/M)(Black)

Can't find this S/M size in stores, but small is too small and medium is too big. We got the harness right away, perfect, brand new, cheaper than Easy Walk Harnesses in Petsmart. Oliver doggie is not near as "pully" with this harness on. Very happy with this purchase!

Hamilton 4' Medium Chain Dog Lead with Black Nylon Handle

We have a hyper beagle, could be an oxy moron but none the less he would have to be crated every night or he would get into everything. Then he started to whine every night, worse than a baby...tried a few things. Found this leash and he is now chained to a door. Perfect length and thickness for keeping the dog in one spot overnight near the family. He doesn't whine anymore!! Sleeps through the night.

It is very hard to find chain leashes any more. They are good for years and years. This one is not only strong enough for our Jack Russell monster puppy, it is beautifully made and attractive. It should take Gracie's whole lifetime to wear it out.

This chain leash is not very good for large breed dogs. The leash is long enough; however, it is not really 1/2 (.5) inches thick. It's about 1/4 thick; which, if you're expecting to put it to a though/mean large breed dog. It will hurt your hands, rip apart the nylon handle, or snap altogether.

I will use the Chain b/c I'm using it on my docile female old-English shepherd which was trained not to pull.

Finally, the clasp is way too small. If you want to use it to grab a multi-ring collar, it won't work for you.

If you need a though and decent-medium chain leash, this is not the chain you want.

I recommend the Coastal Pet Titan over this one for a large breed dog.

I can't review this product because, although I ordered it, I didn't receive it. I contacted customer service and requested a replacement which was promptly shipped -but again it was the chicken chips product, not the chickent and sweet potato product. This time I requested a call from customer service, which I promptly received. The customer service representative asssured me that the issue would be investigated. I told her that the package had a pasted on bar code label that said it contained the sweet potato product. I was told that while the investigation is taking place, the product would be removed from Amazon's web site. As you can see, this hasn't happened yet, so you should be aware that if you order this you may receive something else. Also I was told that I would receive a refund without being required to go through the hassle of returning the incorrect product. This hasn't happened yet either. I do want to state, for the record, that in general I am a very satisfied Amazon customer. Usually I find Amazon's customer service to be exemplary. Just not in this case.

We have used one of these before on a larger Newfie mix with some success. We adopted a three-year old Lab mix and this form of lead was more troublesome than helpful. So, I guess it can work with some dogs but definitely is not a cure all solution.

After reading the reviews and losing all of my security deposit (and then some) from my last apartment due to my cat's constant scratching of the woodwork, I decided to try this item. I really had my doubts about my luck with it as my cat can be very fussy about being directed to do anything like where to scratch. At 1st, as some dissatisfied users reported, my cat showed absolutely no interest in the post. When he would scratch the woodwork, I would place him at the post and he not only showed no interest in the post, but even retracted his claws as a further insult.

I thought "another waste of money." Then I remembered that one of the posts I read in the reviews was from a lady who had the same disinterested reaction from her cat and who enticed her cat to scratch the post by teasing the cat with his favorite swinging cat toy on top of and around the post. Feeling I had nothing to lose, I gave it a try and I simply couldn't believe it. The cat dug his claws deep into the post while swatting at the cat toy and the rest is history. He became so interested in the scratching post that he forgot the toy. Afterwards, he tried to scratch the walls only a few times and just saying "no' sent him to the nearby cat toy. Another good recommendation I read was to place the scratching post near where most of his scratching behavior usually takes place.

I also want to comment on how sturdy this item is. It only took about a minute or so to assemble and is solidly constructed and not likely to tip over. I have a huge Ragdoll cat over 20 pounds of muscle and he hasn't knocked it over yet and he vigorously uses the post now. Sorry for this being so lengthy, but I hope it can help someone who, like me, was a sceptic and at first thought this isn't going to work. Thanks to whomever posted the hint about using the cat toy to provoke interest in the post. You saved me a lot of heartache.

My cats love this thing! It is tall enough for them to stretch out and scratch their little hearts out, and they climb all over it and even sit on top of it! Well worth the mony spent! And it has a wide base, so the thing doesnt even tilt when they attack it full force running full speed from across the room!

I bought the Ultimate Scratching Post after having read so many recommendations. I have to admit, this post is a nice size. It's sturdy and attractive. However, my kitty will have nothing to do with it. I've tried enticing her with catnip and toys. I've even scratched it myself, which got her attention, but no go. She'd rather scratch my furniture. Considering the price, I regret buying it.

UPDATE: Despite not being used, I left this post out near my furniture. After some months, my cat has discovered it and found that she likes it. So for those whose cats haven't taken to the post, there is hope. I will increase the star rating to four stars. Not all cats will take to this post right away; but if they do, it's a very nice, attractive post that's sturdy and holds up well.

I have three cats, one of whom only likes sisal, and none of them will use it. I've put it where their favorite scratching post normally went, dangled toys over it, and although they'll trap a toy against it, none of them has the slightest inclination to scratch it. The sisal isn't the ropey stuff that normally gets wrapped around carpeted scratching posts. It's really smooth feeling so maybe that's why. On the plus side it looks great and it's really tall, which would be nice for my cat that likes to stretch all the way up when she scratches, but no dice. Our family was recently blessed with the sweetest little puppy but he's definitely more of a chewer than any dog I've ever had. My husband and I are both techno geeks so we have a lot of not only expensive but dangerous electrical stuff that we just can't pick up off the floor. The smell isn't too bad...smells like rubbing alcohol but wash your hands after spraying, especially if you're like me and an occasional nail biter! I learned this the hard way. :)

My dogs (half chihuahua, half whippet) are high energy and tend to chew when nervous. I wanted to get them a new bed cause their last one was so chewed they hardly had enough room on it. While kitten proofing my room for my new Siamese (he's 8 weeks old), I decided that my rug tassels looks like heaven for a tiny cat. I looked at a whole bunch of "no chew" sprays online, but this one seemed to have the best reviews. Figuring it couldn't hurt, I went over to my local pet store and purchased a small bottle. I sprayed every wire, tassel, cord,piece of tape and carpet edge. After using 3/4 of my 8 oz bottle, my room REEKED of rubbing alcohol for about 1 hr. I left my window open and let the room settle. My kitten arrived two days ago and sure enough, he tried to chew up my carpet tassels. One tiny bite, and he immediately dropped the tassel and went back to his toys. I have since taken to following him around the room and spraying anything he bites. I've even sprayed this on the edge of my bed sheets. Nothing has stained.

By accident, I did get some on his food bowl. I rushed it to the sink and washed it with plain old soap and hot water. This spray came right off. Just be careful where you spray and this stuff will work!

Did not work on my dog, actually, I am her human, but I am not surprised in the least. She is a Jack Russell and Lab mix. Size of a lab and 70 lbs of ATTITUDE. KONG Naturals Incline Scratcher Cat Toy

I originally got this for my 2 cats for basic function as a cat scratcher. The moment I introduced it to them they had a blast with it. Climbing on it, hiding behind it, trying desperately to get that toy out if it. They stick their paws in it and then their heads, when that doesn't work they try on the other side, then go back again. They chase each other around it and fight over it. It lasted nearly a year until when they were playing tag, one cat was perched on top of it in wait, the other came pounding toward her, took a flying leap on top of it and completely crushed it, scaring both cats enough to jump 10 feet. I laughed for hours. This item is not only functional but I found it provides hours of entertainment for cat and human alike.

I give the Kong Incline Cat Scratcher two stars because our four kitties do like the incline and the scratching pad. However, the overall unit is lightweight and flimsy. The toy in the base intrigued them but unfortunately it's not a furry mouse as shown in the picture, but instead is (was) just a paper pom-pom. Our smallest kitty had the toy in shreds by the end of the second day. The base of the Kong scratcher is cardboard and the unit moves at the slightest touch, so you need to add extra weight in order to use it. We bought the Bergan Turbo Cat Scratcher at the same time, and I'd recommend it over the Kong. The Bergan model has a similar scratching mat and a heavy plastic base that stays in place. And our kitties love pushing the ball around the track on the Bergan. Overall, at around $12.00, the Bergan is more expensive but promises to last much longer.

Update on 9/07/10: Be aware that the refills that Amazon sells to accompany this Kong cat scratcher are too big for the base. The only way to use them is to cut them down, which is a pretty messy process. Meanwhile, our Bergan is still going strong. (Their refills do fit their base.)

I opened up the cat scratcher, spread a little nip on and my cat went to town on it. He barely gave me a chance to set it up. He has used incline scratchers before so this was something he was familiar with.

I would recommend trying to weigh down the scratcher if your cat is over 7 lbs. I just stuck a little 10lb weight inside the little hole in the back. They are more apt to use the scratcher if it doesn't move around on them while they are scratching away.

I bought this online because the price was so much better. I bought the incline scratcher and 2 packages of refills for what it would have cost for just the incline scratcher at a local pet store.

If you're cat doesn't take to it you can't really blame the scratcher. Cats are persnickety creatures. My cat loves the incline scratcher but will not go near the pole with the rope for scratching.

The cat is happy, I'm happy and my furniture is spared.

The 1st day I received this I sprinkled some of the inluded catnip around and it was on ever since. One cat likes the toy in the middle more than the others, but they all scratch on it constantly instead of my furniture!! That was the goal, so I give it 5 stars for sure! My little shy cat seems to come out more often and is always laying on it or by it. She loves it and I get a laugh at her rolling down it as she plays! My cat prefers incline scratchers and will definitely still go for carpets and chairs if I don't have an alternate close by so this seemed to fill the bill (at first) at a good price. However, I second many of the other reviewers. .. It is light weight so, as someone else suggested, I put a few weights inside to stablize it. My puss IMMEDIATELY pulled out the suspended paper ball (NOT a little mouse toy as pictured) and IMMEDIATELY shredded it...so much for that aspect. I also used transparent packing tape to reinforce the whole thing since it seemed to be tearing slightly at the folds from heavy use (the good thing).

IF you can order this so that the shipping is free, and if you just want another scratcher to place around the house to keep your puss off furniture scratching..this is a good price vs retail (Target for instance) for this kind of thing. Its the least ugly of the products that provide unobtrusive scratch pads...I keep searching around for an alternate that looks a bit better before I'd buy it again though. Just quite flimsy ...so there's nothing special about getting this through Amazon (the price IS a bit better but not that much)..so sorry about that though. I was quite hopeful this was 'the one'...for cheap, serviceable, and least ugly. Close but not a winner.
