I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the harness itself.

What I had a problem with was the smell when I opened the package. The odor was like a strong stale cigarette smoke, I actually had to soak it in soapy water to try to get rid of the smell. I would suggest no smoking in the area that this item is kept.

I have purchased other harnesses on line and did not have the same problem.

This product works like magic for my 100 lb black lab. He always used to pull really bad and as soon as this was on him he started walking at my side perfectly. Also, the duo tone of the harness helps you remember what side goes on top and what side goes on bottom.

One day at the dog park there was a lady with a mastiff (150 lb) and I had her try the easy walk harness on him (we refit it) and take him for a walk and he instantaneously turned into a sweet angel when she walked him. I'm pretty sure she is going to switch from a prong collar to an easy walk :)

The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that when I used it for a long walk he ended up with pretty bad irritation under his front arm pits. It was from the harness pushing his legs closer to his body during our 2 mile walk. We took him to the vet (it was pretty bad) and he went on antibiotics and now we just throw some Gold Bond powder on his arm pits before we take him out and we haven't had a problem since!

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has a dog who pulls or anyone who has children and wants their kids to be able to walk the dog without worries!

Lupine Designer Combo Dog Collar

I got Lupine products as a last hope when my two puppies repeatedly chewed through collars, harnesses, and leashes. Since they had the replacement guarantee, even if the product is chewed by your own pet, I figured that while the product may not be made of steel like my puppies need, at least I might save some money. The products I ordered were so cute, fit well, and strong. My puppies' teeth were, as expected, stronger and I quickly was taking advantage of the guarantee. Wow. Just received the collars today. I ordered 3 altogether. One in the 1 inch size, and the other two in the smaller 3/4 inch size. They are beautiful. They lay well. Have two large D rings, one for the tags and one for the leash. This is very important, because if the tags are put on the leash D ring, it hangs funny at the choker loop, making it dangerous. I just returned 3 collars yday that lacked the second D ring.

Another thing I like about this collar, as compared to the ones I just sent back, is the size of the choker loop. The one I sent back had a huge loop, making it possible to seriously choke. This one, it seems smaller. It ends up tight on the neck, but not choking the "life out" of the poor dog :) I only needed this type of collar due to the fact my dogs (Standard Poodle, Giant Schnoodle and a Jack Russell) have smaller heads than they do necks. With a normal collar, if they back up while on lead, the collar can easily slip off. This collar fixes that problem. Awesome product, as the lifetime guarantee proves :) thank you amazon and Lupine!

This martingale-style collar is just what I was looking for. My dog is unable to slip out of it, which is the point. I hope that as it becomes more worn and softer, it will loosen more easily. After a few weeks of daily use, it is still stiff enough that ones the dog tugs so that the collar tightens, it will not release again. The color in the photo is a bit deceiving. The collar is a bright fuchsia leaning toward pink, with plum colored flowers. If I had realized just how very PINK this was, I would have selected a different color and style.

We have two sneaky dogs that need martingale collars for different reasons.

Sasha, 22lb, schnauzer mix she backs out of her collar if she wants to go somewhere else while she's on a walk. She can slip out of a harness so that won't work.

Rommel, 20lb, corgi mix he will chew any collar/harness he can reach. If he does get loose he is very hard to catch.

If you go to Petco or the like you can get a plain martingale collar that is an inch thick and not made for a smaller dog. Plus it has no style. These collars are stylish, they aren't one size fits all, plus they have the extra D-ring so it's just like a regular collar. I guess that's why they call it a combo collar. That is something I haven't seen with any other company.

The Lupine collars were highly recommended to us by the head of the Nat'l Bull Terrier Rescue. She said that they were much better than regular chokers and worked well for the stronger breeds. We bought one and were very impressed. It was comfortable for the dog but effective in pulling her back since it functions like a choke collar. We did have to manually release it a few times (as other reviewers have stated), though I wouldn't say that it was uncomfortably tight on her when it did "stick". The collars are very well made and clearly very sturdy. The design was really nice too. All told, I would buy Lupine collars again without hesitation!

We don't hunt, which is what these collars are made for, but we have four big dogs and like to do long forest hikes with them off lead. They're great dogs and stay by our sides most of the time, but once in a while, they get distracted and disappear into the undergrowth to check out a stream. They are well trained and don't chase wildlife and normally are perfect hikers, but they're retrievers and sometimes they can't resist the siren call of a stream. The oldest one has twice gone down steep slopes she wasn't able to get her old hips back up again. She's strong as on ox on a flat trail and can go downhill with the best of them, but she's mostly a front paw drive dog now. The first time she disappeared, one of our other dogs showed us where she went towe couldn't find her on our own. The second time, we got a glimpse of her down the hill and were able to find her ourselves. With these collars, we won't ever be trying to figure out where Kelty decided to check out the stream and hope for a glimpse of her or wait for the other dogs to to take us to her.

The collars aren't cheap, but considering what it costs to keep a dog, it's a good investment. So far they have worked fantastic and we've had fun keeping track of how much further the young dogs walk up and down the trail around us. The collars are waterproof, and even after a long beach romp, there's no leakage. I would imagine they are great for hunters, but they're also good if you have a dog who mistakes itself for Magellan or other any other explorer.

I previously had two dc 30 collars and they worked fine but could not find any more so I ordered the new dc 40 and I have had no problems with it. It works just as well as the dc 30 collars. The only difference is the collar is orange and made of rubber and the old ones are made of nylon. Also the charger is a bit different. I'm not sure which is best both have good points. The nylon seems to be a tougher material where as the rubber one is more flexible and the hunter orange is very easy to see in the woods. I will buy another one when the need arrives. Update: I have had this collar for a year now and have had no problems with it. I hunt a lot and use these collars on every dog. I have 3 dogs and getting another in 2 months. I will be ordering another of these collars since they have proven to be reliable. Also the rubber ones are better since the nylons ones are starting to come apart at the ends. If you have any doubts about this product because of the few bad reviews just notice that they are not amazon verified!

Couldn't ask for a better system. I have used the DC-40 every day since I got it and haven't had a single problem. I'm constantly amazed at how well it works. All my hunting friends want one now. My husband has had three of these Garmin DC-40 tracking collars in the last month and he says they are nothing but junk. Premier Pet Leash

I originally bought this leash to match the harness which seemed pretty good. My fiance was walking our puppy one night and was getting into the elevator when the leash popped off. He told me this and I got worried. We live in the city and cars do not care nor stop for anything or anyone. I bought another premier leash thinking that maybe the leash was not properly put on or that one might've been defective. Since the company seemed like a reputable one, I bought another leash to replace it. This time I was NOT so lucky. I was walking my baby this morning and the leash just popped off. My baby knowing where the dog run is wanted to go and was running across a large avenue and was struck by a bus. She is now in the ICU of a veterinary hospital. How can a company continue to sell a leash that is NOT secure???!!!!! What's the point of the leash?????!!!!!! These are our babies that they are putting in danger. PLEASE do not risk getting this leash it is not worth it.

I bought a premier leash in 08 and it released my dog several times. Freaked me out. I've had no trouble with the collar but wont be buying the leash again.

The closure on the leash is poor. My dog escaped twice before I realized there was a real problem with this leash. The first time I had assumed I didn't get it fully attached to the loop on his collar. The second time he broke free it was a night on a very busy urban street. If he would have wandered off it would have been over! We got back home and my husband and I tested it by attaching the leash to the collar and pulling. The collar repeatedly broke free of the leash with minimal effort. I have not used the leash since and certainly would never buy it again.

I bought this leash at the animal shelter where I adopted my dog. Even though it's only been a week, this leash has come off of his collar twice. As soon as I got my dog safely home, I sat and figured out what the problem is. The reason it pops off is the ring on the collar twists up against the trigger and pushes it back just far enough to release the ring. It WILL happen eventually if the ring gets in the right position. In my case, I was using this leash with a Gentle Leader collar. The ring on that collar is a very small diameter and round. I think this leash might work better with a collar that had a D-ring of a very thick diameter, but I'm not willing to risk it.

I have another leash with a smaller more rounded trigger. I tried the same set up and I was unable to pop the trigger.

If you already own this leash, consider replacing it or figuring out a backup method to keep it attached when it does fail.

I added two Schipperke puppies to my home eight years ago. Shortly after they arrived, they became sick with a parasite known as coccidia. From that moment on, I lived a wretched existence comprised of constant cleaning (both the dogs and anything they came near), dog antibiotics, vet bills, emergency room visits, more vet bills, on and on. By the time they were two years of age, they were down to eating only rice mixed with turkey baby food (per vet instructions) and my bank account was depleted by thousands of dollars. Yet still they suffered from diarrhea and occasional bouts of vomiting. One day I found this food on the internet, and thought, "what the hell I've tried everything else." When the food arrived, I mixed the "dust" (reminded me of fish chum we used as kids) with cooked turkey, water, and olive oil. I fed it to the dogs. They loved it, but I expected after a year of rice and Gerber's, they'd have loved anything. By day three, their diarrhea had stopped, and the only time it has returned in the past six years is when I have run out of this food and fed them something different. Truly. Day THREE! After a two-year ordeal! This food saved my dogs' lives. I notice that the formula has changed a bit over the years, and now the package directions suggest adding an egg and fish oil and not to use olive oil. I just keep making it the way I always have. They still love it.

There are downsides to using this food: it's soft, so plaque and tartar build up much faster than if the dogs were eating crunchy food. Also, I have to make a "batch" of food for them. I usually buy 2-1/2 lbs. of ground turkey, cook it up, grind it in the food processor, add it to 2 cups of dust, 2-1/2 cups of water, 1/4 cup olive oil, then mix it all together. Then, using a small ice cream scoop (1/4 cup), I put the food into those small disposable plastic containers made by Glad. This usually gives me 56 containers (two weeks' worth of breakfast and dinner for both dogs). I freeze the containers, putting them into the refrigerator the night before as necessary. In the morning, I dump the containers in their bowls, and microwave for 20 seconds. I guess this is a long way of saying it's more labor intensive than throwing a handful of kibble into a bowl. But, it has definitely been worth it for me and my dogs.

I would enthusiastically recommend this food to any pet owner.

My dog started having seizures around the age of four. I kept track of them, on the calender, and noticed that the seizures happened about every 30 days. The vet told me that it was probably a brain tumor, since epileptic seizures usually start at a younger age. This did not make sense to me, since the seizures were consistent in their timing. I decided to switch him to a grain free diet and found Urban Wolf. My dog has been seizure-free for quite some time now,(he just turned 11.) I do recommend that you give your dog a vitamin supplement, such as Pet Tabs. (By the way, he gets a double-dose of the Pet Tabs and it has greatly reduced his itching to the point where he's no longer on steroids.) I have also tried the doggie burgers from the pet store. They gave the poor little guy really hard stools. This stuff is worth the time and trouble to make, he's much healthier now.

When I opened the bag initially, I was horrified to see some sort of brown powder-ish fluff, instead of little freeze-dried chunks of vegetables, as I was expecting. Well, I made some anyway according to the package directions, and my dogs absolutely LOVE it.

I have 12 dogs, including one 18-yr-old and one 15-yr-old who are VERY finicky (probably cats in their former lives) and even those two absolutely loved it, so suffice to say it tastes VERY good to them, even though to be frank it smelled kind of iffy to me. Definitely not a bad smell, just an unusual smell of some sort of herbs, and I was worried that no one would eat it-Wrong!)

To clarify, this is NOT "8 lb of food for $100"; this is a mix of freeze-dried vegetables that you combine with meat (raw or cooked) and an egg and maybe some fish oil for good measure. Even with 12 dogs this will take us forever to get through. In the meanwhile I'm storing the powder in wide-mouthed jars to keep the moisture out. You can go to the Urban Wolf website (google for it) to get estimates of how long a bag will last. Also check out the nutritional information while you are there.

I don't plan on using this when lots of vegetables are in season, but for the times of year when choices are fewer, this is a great way to ensure a diversity of vitamins.

SSSCAT Cat Training Aid

We put up a camera to catch our new kitty getting on the counters but we found we had more than one counter surfer!

I'm going to add some more info now that we've had the Ssscat for awhile. I took it down from 5 stars to 4 mostly because it doesn't always work. As you can see in the video with the second cat. I thought it was because of the batteries but after testing with fresh/more powerful batteries I found that it simply works when it wants too.

The reason I still give it 4 stars is because it's put fear into my cats and simply placing in an area I don't want them to be seems to be enough to keep them away.

So all in all, it's done what we need it to do even if it doesn't always work the way it's supposed to, however it is a bit overpriced for something that doesn't always work.

The Ssscat does what it says it senses your cat, and then lets loose a spray and an alarm squeal. We have a very bad cat, but after a few encounters with this thing, he has stayed off the countertops. We recently got a second, so that we can have one for the dining room table and one for the baby's bassinet, and they're working fine as well. (You can call me a control freak, but there's something very satisfying about hearing the spray & alarm at 2 in the morning, followed by the sounds of a running cat.)

A couple pieces of advice: (1) You will need 4 AAA batteries per unit. (2) The spray is good for a few months to a year, depending on how many times you forget the unit is there and spray yourself. At that point, you can either buy the refill can or just rely on the sound alarm. (3) The alarm usually goes off once after you arm the unit, while it's "warming up." To avoid wasting a spray, I set it to "sound only" until the warm up alarm is over, then turn it to the "sound + spray" setting.

One of our cats likes to piddle on the futon in our porch. I have two ssscats set up in there. Now she stays away even though they are not turned on. She just has to see them and she runs. I assembled and set this item up on my kitchen counter. I wanted to train my cat to believe that the universe would punish him for intruding upon the place where food comes from. My wife and I hid around the corner, and got ready for some laughs. The cat jumped on the counter, and went about his business knocking down food items for the other cat, who I suspect is the actual brains of the operation. The SSSCAT sat silently, implicitly advocating the intrusion through inaction; like the Vatican during the Holocaust.

Finally, I grabbed my coffee can full of pennies, and did what had to be done. The SSSCAT responded by spraying me with air, from about 10 feet away.

And that's the SSSCAT for you. It has deterred the cat approximately zero times for every dozen times it sprays a human. We don't go near the counters anymore. Conversely, our cat has doubled his countergoing efforts; possibly to mock our attempts to curtail the incursions, for he knows good and well that the SSSCAT is on his side.

I predict at this point that the SSSCAT will eventually deplete itself and end up in the trash. I certainly don't plan to buy any refills.

And maybe someday down the road, my wife and I will re-learn how to approach the kitchen counter without fear.
