We don't hunt, which is what these collars are made for, but we have four big dogs and like to do long forest hikes with them off lead. They're great dogs and stay by our sides most of the time, but once in a while, they get distracted and disappear into the undergrowth to check out a stream. They are well trained and don't chase wildlife and normally are perfect hikers, but they're retrievers and sometimes they can't resist the siren call of a stream. The oldest one has twice gone down steep slopes she wasn't able to get her old hips back up again. She's strong as on ox on a flat trail and can go downhill with the best of them, but she's mostly a front paw drive dog now. The first time she disappeared, one of our other dogs showed us where she went towe couldn't find her on our own. The second time, we got a glimpse of her down the hill and were able to find her ourselves. With these collars, we won't ever be trying to figure out where Kelty decided to check out the stream and hope for a glimpse of her or wait for the other dogs to to take us to her.

The collars aren't cheap, but considering what it costs to keep a dog, it's a good investment. So far they have worked fantastic and we've had fun keeping track of how much further the young dogs walk up and down the trail around us. The collars are waterproof, and even after a long beach romp, there's no leakage. I would imagine they are great for hunters, but they're also good if you have a dog who mistakes itself for Magellan or other any other explorer.

I previously had two dc 30 collars and they worked fine but could not find any more so I ordered the new dc 40 and I have had no problems with it. It works just as well as the dc 30 collars. The only difference is the collar is orange and made of rubber and the old ones are made of nylon. Also the charger is a bit different. I'm not sure which is best both have good points. The nylon seems to be a tougher material where as the rubber one is more flexible and the hunter orange is very easy to see in the woods. I will buy another one when the need arrives. Update: I have had this collar for a year now and have had no problems with it. I hunt a lot and use these collars on every dog. I have 3 dogs and getting another in 2 months. I will be ordering another of these collars since they have proven to be reliable. Also the rubber ones are better since the nylons ones are starting to come apart at the ends. If you have any doubts about this product because of the few bad reviews just notice that they are not amazon verified!

Couldn't ask for a better system. I have used the DC-40 every day since I got it and haven't had a single problem. I'm constantly amazed at how well it works. All my hunting friends want one now. I got an extra collar when I ordered mine because when I go hunting with a friend they are usually the one that can't find their dog or catch it when we do find it. I let a friend borrow it Saturday and it saved the day. The dog we put it on took off over 3 miles through thick woods that had no roads or trails. We were able to go straight to the dog. Never lost signal with my extented range antenna.

My husband has had three of these Garmin DC-40 tracking collars in the last month and he says they are nothing but junk. Each one started mall functioning in less than a day and he has returned them to the seller each time. The original DC-30 that he bought has been fantastic, but Garmin has stopped making that model. Word is there is a DC-50 made but they are afraid to release it, because no one would purchase the non working DC-40's They better do something soon or they will loose the hunters who purchase from them. Don't waste your money on the DC-40 collar, you will have nothing but problems! That's our opinion.

Honestly, I'm not crazy about this lead. The leather is NOT soft. It's rough on my wrist. It might become softer after it's broken-in, but I don't plan on using it that much. The length is fine when walking, but when my dog does her little circle dance to take a poop; it's too short. I have to walk around in circles with her hoping nobody calls Bellevue. Also, the clip is humongo! It's difficult to hook to the collar ring. The color (brown) is dull. Bottom Line: I wouldn't buy another one!

It is well made of heavy leather, with a strong clip. The length is perfect for my shepard collie mix to walk by my side and even occasionally sniff the ground while being close enough for complete control in all situations. This lead is exactly what I wanted for our daily walks.

... your dogs' tags don't set it off. I thought it was a failure because it seemed to go off randomly, until I figured out it was his tags jingling that set it off. So I found a tag that wraps his collar instead of hanging and that solved the problem.

Big news around my house is that it works on a 50lb compulsive barker. It emits a sound different than the other sonic items I've tried and he absolutely hates the sound and stops barking immediately. He not only doesn't bark but once, he runs off if someone else barks. Result is no one barks, because he's always been the instigator. He's also seemed to break his compulsion he barks less altogether.

When he doesn't have it on and starts barking because of someone arriving I just hold it up and approach him he stops barking.

So I tried shock, other sonic bark-stoppers, and citronella, and this is the only one that has worked! Whew, it is quiet here again, after 3+ years! I'd about given up hope, but 4 dogs were moving in next door and I got desperate. If it hadn't had a money-back guarantee I wouldn't have tried it.

BTW, I got it from Better Life 24/7 and their customer service is excellent. You need only order any 6-volt battery for this. The battery from the failed Spray Sense collar work fine.

I read a review regarding this collar prior to ordering it. And she was spot on! This collar is terrific! The very first day that I put it on my dog he improved! There are certain things that cause him to bark excessively, like the Gardner or Pool man and I could never get him to stop barking. The collar emits a tone that gets louder and longer every time he barks. Typically by the 3rd time he is barking excessively he stops and gives up. I no longer have to waste my yelling at him to make him stop, he wouldn't listen to me when he was like that anyway. As far as the intermittent barking, a kid playing out side or a neighbor walking their dogs by, has improved dramatically. The issue that the other reviewer mentioned about multiple dogs, and another one without the collar sets off the sound on the dog with the collar, is totally true. However, I have noticed an improvement in my non collared dogs barking. He barks way less now too! Thank you for such a wonderful product! I love it! My only down side comment would be that the battery is hard to find. We had to order it online, couldn't find it at any stores around us. My comment to anyone looking for a No Bark Collar, get the BETTER LIFE, SUPER HUSH PUPPY 2 "NO SHOCK" No bark collar. There is no reason to shock your dog to get them to stop barking this product is amazing! Thank you!

As another reviewer pointed out, this does go off if your dog shakes his head with a tag on his collar so I took off his other collar off to prevent "misfires". Found it still goes off if he wrestles the cat, jumps off the couch, walks... breathes....

Does NOT come with a battery (which the instructions say the company sells) so they should just charge you an extra buck or two and include the battery so it's ready to go straight out of the box. Feels light in weight which is good for the dog but in this case light might equal cheap since it is malfunctioning. Looks ridiculously big on a 15lb dog would be nice to have a smaller size for traditionally tiny+yappy breeds that might need it. Sounds like a fairly loud microwave oven beeeeeep!!!! going off next to your ear and I kind of feel bad for this going off randomly next to his head. Customer service said they could send a replacement but this is getting boxed up and going back.

After reading all the reviews,and being awaken by good old "Roxie" at 3:30 AM something had to be done.After purchasing the unit,it went to work right away.Peace and restful sleep again. I have been telling all my friends about the "Hush Puppy", and of how "Roxie" is trying to figure out what went wrong. I bought two of this product for my son's dogs. They worked, but only for a day.

And unfortunely you CAN hear them. By day two we were not only listening to barking

but also a high pitched noise which made it all that much more annoying.

My lovely grand dogs just wiggled their ears a bit and continued barking.

On the companies behalf my sons dogs are both part pit bull and a mix of great dane. Not many things stop

them from doing what they want to do. I thought I would give this product a try, but they did not work.

The delivery of this product was quick.

If the noise doesn't bother you and your dog is little and more agreeable this product might work for you.

I used this to teach my dog to tell me when he needed to go out so that he wouldn't learn to bark instead. I didn't want my dog to scratch on the door or bark to tell me he wanted to go out, so I started early with him to touch the bell with his nose to indicate he wanted to go out. I have one at the back door, one at the top of the stairs, and one on my desk at work (he is a service dog). I trained him to "touch" to indicate he needs to go. Since he already had a schedule to go out at 11, 2, 5, 8, and 10pm, I jsut made him touch it at those times that I was going to take him anyway. He got used to touching before the door would open. Now, if he needs to go and it isn't a regularly scheduled time, he will touch the bell. I hear the sound, and I will let him out (as will my family members). I did this with my prior dogs too, but the bell I had before was a heavy sleigh bell which was just too big for a papillon. This is light enough for any sized dog to use.

this product is well made. it actually looks good hanging on the door. i've had it for several months now and neither of my dogs ring the bell. one did it once but it was more out curiousity then anything else. now when i ring the bell, they come running. they know it means i'm letting them outside. i took care of a puppy for 5 months and tried training him as well. he never rang it either; but he too, knows when i ring the bell it's time to go outside. i will admit that once we used the bell for about a week, he would not go in the house and as soon as i rang the bell, to the door he ran.

This product actually works. I was worried that my new puppy, an Australian Cattle Dog, would have accidents because she doesn't make noises at the door like my Basset Hound does. However on the first try, she realized if she touched the bells, she could go outside and potty. The only reason I don't "love" it is because it jingles every time I open the door too. :)

We ordered this to help housebreak our 2 month old puppy, and he learned quickly and was accident-free in 2 weeks. The potty bells have also saved our door from a lot of puppy scratches -we just hung them on a nail beside the door and he hits them with his nose when he wants to go out. WARNING: be sure during training when he rings the bells, you only take him on a leash to his potty spot, then reward and bring him straight back in. At first we let him out off leash and he rang the bell like crazy to go outside for "play time".

I didn't know if it would work, but tried it out on my very rambunctious 7 month old Australian Shepherd and it works. I was worried that, if I could get her to ring the bells, that she would pull it all to pieces, but she hasn't done that. Not sure what would happen to it if she had claw, bite, or pull at the bells. It wasn't altogether flimsy, but it it was real tough made either.

My dog was obsessed with this toy when I first got it. Even after he got the treats out, he would carry it around and gnaw on it. The problem is, the holes are so narrow they quickly deformed and after only about a week of having it they no longer could hold treats. As much as he loved it, it was not worth ordering another one because it didn't last longer than a week. Great toy for weaker chewers, but for stronger chewers or bigger dogs like mine I wouldn't recommend it.

My dog who loves to chew cannot live with out this toy. I have to buy her one every month because she is a constant chewer. Will order may more in the future.

Some of the negative reviews crack me up. Typical modern day attitude, blame everything on somebody else. Common sense will do much more than any instruction manual. Petsmart can't control the fact that an animal is an animal, which is why it is YOUR responsibility to properly train your animal, and not turn them loose till they are fully trained and under control. For the first couple days I took our cat past all the flags and scolded him if he tried to go near them (without the collar). I had to be very careful and keep a leash on him at first, because he would freak out and run blindly in any direction(including up my leg with sharp claws) when he got shocked. Only after he figured things out and knew that the beep would be followed by a shock, and promptly back away till the beep stopped, did I leave the collar on him without a leash.
