I bought this unit for my 4 yr old boxer and his boxer husky mixed pup; out of the box I charged the first one up for the first of three 5 hour charges it asks to do for the initial use.I put the collar on the boxer and adjusted it to snug fit. Then put the second receiver on the charger for 5 hours; he instantly started behaving different as he had an auto shock collar that I had borrowed from a friend; the story behind him is that he will go into a barking frenzy when anyone passes by or the high school begins to shoot off the track and field gun or announces stuff on the football field. He litterally barks at everything and wont stop even after the person or object has passed our yard 20 minutes ago... I put this collar on him and he was mostly obedient; no longer barking at the windi wanted the remote so i could train him to bark at the things i dont mind and of importance (he is to protect the yard by letting people know hes there, bark at the birds to keep them out of the yard, and bark when someone knocks on the door; since our rental is very long and we dont have a door bell. I put it on and immediately he was being trained to only do such things and i instantly rewarded him for doing so. When the rare occasion he got to barking for more than a few good barks for passers by i just beeped him and the confusion stopped him, when he wouldnt respond i turned up the dial and did it again; if he didnt respond i lowered the dial and tried vibrate (if no response; i then issued a low shock) by this time he is in a frenzy bark and increased to lvl 7 and shock (a good yelp but absolutely no barking) since ive only used a 7 lvl shock on him twice he has never gotten out of control in any sort of frenzy since. The puppy however is much like his father and will continuously bark and wont stop even by vocal command; snugged the collar on her and the beep is usually enough to stop her; but when the rare occasion i have to shock her she never yelps and is confused by the shock and stops her actions all together; when inside for inhome training she responds very well to the beep, but the shock she yet again will stop and instantly return to my side never yelping even on lvl 7 (assuming length of coat is the reason but dont want to give her a shave to make best contact) i know she feels it because her tail goes between her legsi dont want to shave her because her weight also worries me; if I have to shock her at lvl 7 i dont want to possibly hurt her or put fear in her about her master.

The collars are very effective; syncing them with the extremely basic instructions is a bit annoying at first (absolutely dont try to sinch with the remote on 0; if done pull the battery from the remote which will desync)

turn receiver on the select which dog 1,2, or 3 you want the receiver to be set to; press any correction button. if you screw this up; turn off receiver by holding down the power button for three seconds and it will beep loud. Then turn it back on the exact same way you turned it off and repeat step on the one you want. if you turn both on they will both sync to that one button. If you sync one to #1 and want to sync 2 to #2 leave #1 on and turn on #2 and sync it

#1 on sync to remote light 1

#2 on (dont turn #1 off) sync to remote light 2

it says you will have to do this everytime you charge (incorrect; its everytime you turn the receiver off)

I wish it came with another charger for the second receiver.

this product is very good and one of the best ive seen; stand alone time seems to be about 5-7 days with turning it off at night since your only supposed to have them on your dog for upto 12 hours since the can get sores from the prongs.

I did not receive the second set of prongs for each receiver... i dont know if im using short or long; all four sets received are all the same... unlike my last auto correct collar; pretty sure this was their bad.

I recommend this product to everyone since it can control 1,2, or 3 dogs and it wont correct at the same time like the cheaper models. The newest model has an auto feature but is more than the price of a double unit...

Syncing is a little annoying everytime but once you get the hang of it; it is sooooo simple if you dont have the remote set to 0

Purchased this item based on features and price, both of which seemed to meet my needs. HOWEVER, the manual (translated from Chinese I assume) is difficult to comprehend and requires multiple readings (for me at least). It's poorly organized as well and there's no warranty or contact information. The website listed doesn't exist and there's no warranty/registration card. So, if it ever malfunctions, I guess I'm on my own. Had I known that, I would have purchased another similar product.

This is not the collar for me (my dogs actually).

I have tried at least five different training collars for one or more of my five dogs since 2006. When I first saw the Aetertek I was intrigued it claimed to be well made, controlled up to three dogs independently with sound and vibration control and seven levels of shock. It also had a much cooler looking handset compared to those cheaper two dog Chinese units. So I got one four months ago.

In all fairness let me list the good points first.

1 It is well made and while I have only had it for four months it seems like it will last a long time.

2 It came with a nice cloth case.

3 The time between recharging of the collars was sufficient for all day use with recharging nightly.

4 It really does all those things advertised. Mine came with two collars but you can get a third if you need to control a third dog.

5 I have not tested the waterproofness but the collar units look tight.

6 The vinyl plastic collars are heavy duty and the hardware is good quality with heavy chrome plating. 1st class if you like vinyl.

Now let me tell you what I do not like about the Aetertek the cool looking handset is difficult to use. I stopped using it because of this.

If one of your dogs is getting into mischief and needs prompt correction you have push the tiny little button on the side of the handset to cycle through dog 1, dog 2, dog 3 until you are correcting the right dog. If you are in the sun the tiny LED's are hard to see.

Then you have to decide whether to use the ultrasonic whistle, the vibrator or the shock.

If you choose shocking you then rotate the wheel to select which of the seven levels of shock to apply.

By this time my dog has turned over several flower pots, eaten the neighbor's cat and is bounding gleefully towards traffic. Meanwhile my other dog starts acting up. If I am lucky that dog's unit has a higher numerical value so I do not have to cycle all the way through the menu again to correct that dog.

By now I am beginning to appreciate the dorky looking handset of the cheaper units. The cheaper unit is bigger, the buttons are bigger and there are only three well laid out, well-spaced out buttons for each dog. I can jump from dog 1 to dog 2 in a microsecond. You don't need seven levels of shock. Two is enough. The cheaper unit worked better for me.

There are other minor complaints about the Aetertek but they are not important. The handset makes this product useless to me.

In summary this is an idea that sounds better in theory than in execution, in my opinion. Until the designer comes up with a simpler more ergonomic handset this goes back in its nice cloth case and in the drawer. The replacement for my old less expensive, dorky looking 2-dog training collar just arrived.

The aetertek 216s-550s works well. The collar is cheap and will need to be replaced and the battery life is poor. If you do not want to have to remove the collar all of the time and charge the battery I would recommend something else. If this is not an issue, then this unit will work. The unit will get my hyper cattle dog attention.

I bought this collar because my 80 lb American Pit Bull Terrier likes to forget he is on a leash. He is unaltered so he has an uncontrollable urge to pee on every twig we walk by. This collar stopped all of the pulling. The rope portion sits high enough that when I pull, it stops him instantly. He is quickly reminded that he is not in charge. Nothing had worked with my dog. Choke chains were terrible. He would just as soon turn blue in the face. Pronged collars worked at first, however, it seemed to intensify his need to pull when we saw a dog. This collar works perfectly. You have to have him on your left side to make the rope tighten properly. If the dog is out in front or on your right, he can pull because it is not cinching properly. I would recommend this collar to everyone I know with a large dog.

This is the second one of these collars I've purchased and I love the new design. This one has buckles for both collar pieces instead of the older model that needed to be fitted every time. I have three large dogs, one that pulls, and one that will jump toward dogs in excitement when we pass by. This collar has helped me control and correct both dogs, especially the dog that leaps at other dogs (I am a 125 lb female and this dog is 95 lbs). I really like the shorter leash too! It's great for jogging with the dogs since I don't have to deal with all of the extra leash.

My husband used to injure his back when walking the dogs if they pulled using other leashes. We used to use a pinch collar, which didn't work well for us and our powerful dogs (it was like they didn't even feel the correction!). My husband liked the first one we got so much that we got another one for the 80 lb dog that pulls on walks. By doing a quick firm correction they understand what you want them to do and it really doesn't take much. It's easier on all of us!

I'm not a pet person but they always seem to find me. The latest is a 100 lb, one year old German Shepherd with an incredible chase instinct which ran the streets, wild, before coming to me. Not a mean bone in him, absolutely beautiful, plays well with others, strong as an ox, can clear a four foot fence from a sitting position, but will chase a squirrel through the side of a metal storage building, then out the other end. Yes, the squirrel needed two holes. One in, one out. No, the dog didn't.

I read the reviews on this collar and bit on the science, i.e., that by raising the collar closer to the dog's head, your training issues would disappear.

No.

Yes, upon putting on the collar the 1st time, the results were amazing. I, too, was ready to Hail Cesar!

However, I'm betting most of those glowing reviews were written after the 1st walk. Or two. And by persons who didn't know you can buy a short leash and gain much of the control provided thereby for a fraction that this thing costs.

In my case at least, the dog very quickly became used to the collar position and reverted to his old ways. His indifference was accelerated, no doubt, by the fact that the nylon straps which separate the two collars began to collapse, making the 3" rise more like 1". I'm thinking of taking the collar to an upholstery friend and see if he can sew some plastic stiffeners onto the separating straps, making the rise once again the full 3". And yes, I've tried adjusting it a dozen times, nothing makes it work like new. This may be a German Shepherd design problem, I don't know, that's why the review is labeled Your Experience May Vary.

The other negative, like you need another than the fact that it doesn't work for more than a few days, is that the collar is amazingly difficult to put on the dog. Of course, if your dog is a placid little thing, you might not have this problem. Trust me, it is a problem getting it on this monster I've rescued ... but after, what's it been, six weeks now, he is getting used to the noose going over his head and the snapping of the two collars but it is still a pain.

All this said, it is a well made piece (aside from collapsing on itself and edit 3/26/12 below) and given the two collars provides a bit of additional security (again, edit 3/26/12 below) when walking something as big and untrained as Axle. But, for the money and my experience to date, I'd go with a short or better yet two handle leash (Kong makes a really nice one with a sliding grab) and leave this on Amazon's shelves.

Edited 3/8/12: If you read the negative reviews, you'll see anti-commentary from the same one or two reviewers, one of whom claims to be an expert on this dog collar because he/she is a vegan! This is a forum for product reviews ... not member/poster/reviewer reviews. This thing is advertised as the greatest training aid since everything. Stating that it doesn't work, collapses on itself (contrary to the pretty picture provided), is grossly overpriced, or has the potential to hurt the dog relates to the PRODUCT, not the member/poster/reviewer. Please limit your comments to the product and leave us alone, we can't all be dog whisperers. Besides, if you're so damn gifted, why did you find it necessary to buy this piece of crap in the first place?

Edited 3/26/12: Took the Axle for his usual, 3 mile, walk this morning. If we leave early enough, break of dawn early enough, we can get back before the squirrels come out in force. Decided to use this collar. Halfway around, an early rising squirrel popped out of a tree. As continues to be his habit, Axel lunged. Then, as he has learned, he stood still and watched. However, this time the metal ring on this "high quality" training device/collar had failed, without warning spreading enough that the leash snap popped out. Loose dog. Fortunately, he didn't realize that he was unhooked and, again, as he's allowed to do, continuing standing perfectly still, on 'point' if you will, intently watching the squirrel scamper up and down the tree. I re-hooked him, temporarily using the second ring to finish the walk. Now, as noted, this is a tractor of a dog with a very strong prey instinct, particularly as to cats and squirrels. So, once again, your experience may vary. As far as the lead, an easy fix would be to replace the cheapie metal rings with stronger, miniature, screw together D rings from one of the box stores or better yet Amazon. If you've a large, spirited dog and buying this collar, I would recommend this fix before one of the rings fails ... particularly if you walk the dog anywhere near traffic.

This is an amazing collar for training. I always had a problem with my leash dipping too far back and during a "correction" I'd always feel like I could be hurting my dogs trachea. Especially since i have such a strong active breed (boxer/pit) he is prone to pulling. Now, (with the help of training in addition to this leash) we are able to go on walks and he walks right by my side. No pulling or tugging. You only need a slight correction for the dog to feel it when it is that high on his head. I love it. $50 is pretty expensive for a dog collar, but I think the investment was worth the relief my dog is feeling around his neck.

This is a well made lead with a nice padded feel on the side with the dog bone design. It cost less then buying a lead from the chain pet stores but has all of the quality I expect. The leash is very strong and my use is to walk my male doberman on casual walks.

I've owned this lead for nearly 5 months (I know, I'm slow to post my review) but I can say with confidence that it holds up very well to wear and tear. My dog tends to pull pretty hard so, generally, leashes that have more give are more comfortable for me to walk her (such as leads with a bungee core or the ones with a spool that feed out more line). I say that as an FYI as you're making a decision on what type of lead to buy based on your dog and it's certainly not a knock on this product at all.

I would recommend this for anyone buying a lead for a dog that does well with fixed-length leads.

Got this leash because it was cheap. It's just the right length and doesn't bother my GSD puppy who would constantly bite on the (heavier) leash I got from petsmart.

This leash looks nice and is lightweight BUT The entire leash is fraying (threads coming loose) -didn't have high expectations considering how cheap it was/is but it's falling apart wayy too quickly (under 2 weeks)... so I'd recommend you get something else a little bit more expensive and save yourself the hassle.

I put this on the halter of my blind horse's sighted companion, so she can always know where he is. It's soft enough to not irritate the sensitive ears of the horse wearing it, yet loud enough to let the other horse know what's going on.

Great product, good construction, fairly loud 'ding'. I bought this to try training our dog into letting us know when she has to potty. Although she will probably never figure it out, I can't blame the bell.

I used this to teach my dog to tell me when he needed to go out so that he wouldn't learn to bark instead. I didn't want my dog to scratch on the door or bark to tell me he wanted to go out, so I started early with him to touch the bell with his nose to indicate he wanted to go out. I have one at the back door, one at the top of the stairs, and one on my desk at work (he is a service dog). I trained him to "touch" to indicate he needs to go. Since he already had a schedule to go out at 11, 2, 5, 8, and 10pm, I jsut made him touch it at those times that I was going to take him anyway. He got used to touching before the door would open. Now, if he needs to go and it isn't a regularly scheduled time, he will touch the bell. I hear the sound, and I will let him out (as will my family members). I did this with my prior dogs too, but the bell I had before was a heavy sleigh bell which was just too big for a papillon. This is light enough for any sized dog to use.

this product is well made. it actually looks good hanging on the door. i've had it for several months now and neither of my dogs ring the bell. one did it once but it was more out curiousity then anything else. now when i ring the bell, they come running. they know it means i'm letting them outside. i took care of a puppy for 5 months and tried training him as well. he never rang it either; but he too, knows when i ring the bell it's time to go outside. i will admit that once we used the bell for about a week, he would not go in the house and as soon as i rang the bell, to the door he ran.

We ordered this to help housebreak our 2 month old puppy, and he learned quickly and was accident-free in 2 weeks. The potty bells have also saved our door from a lot of puppy scratches -we just hung them on a nail beside the door and he hits them with his nose when he wants to go out. I didn't know if it would work, but tried it out on my very rambunctious 7 month old Australian Shepherd and it works. I was worried that, if I could get her to ring the bells, that she would pull it all to pieces, but she hasn't done that. Not sure what would happen to it if she had claw, bite, or pull at the bells. I have 2 Boston's and they have been getting into my flower bed, eating my trees, and just tearing up my yard. I asked my friend what device he used for his dogs and it was about 300 bucks for a 1 dog kit. I found this one for like 104 but it has 2 dog collars. Out of all the cheaper units I felt this one would be the best of the low end. This is my first training collar that I've owned.

A few things that stood out was water proof, vibrate/sound option and 7 different shock levels vs 3.

I've had this unit now for about 3 weeks and it's been working as designed. I've only used the shock once because the respond well to the buzz. They have been a little better about the flower beds but that's still a work in progress, but it's been I think worth the investment. Before I used the color I tested the shock levels on my had as I wanted to know the power I would be pushing out and I keep it on 2 by default. 5/6/7 pack a nice punch! I think the collar lasts about 3-5 days I've only charged it twice. But I don't have it on all the time. At night the collar is off and off the dogs, but it seems like it lasts pretty long.

Not really cons but just a heads up. One charger so at night I do the charge, if you don't need them on all the time you can get by but some people would want to have two chargers just to get them charged at once. The collars are ok the are a thick like plastic, I don't care as long as they stay on and the collar does its job. My wife thinks they are ugly but what ever. The collar comes with 2 different sets of prongs so if your dog has thick fur.

No regrets buying the unit, if I had to do it over again I still would buy this unit. I'm very happy with the product, I think it works well and it's a good quality.

The product arrived faster than I thought and it came with a case to keep it in. We used it the very first time and took one dog out at a time for our first time out with it. We found that our animals responded to the shock but set on the highest setting. We are hoping that they soon will learn the warning sound and vibration and won't have to use the shock forever. The shock is not that strong, even on the highest setting but enough to get the job done or it may be that we have two hard headed dogs. This is our first time using it on both of them and they both did well. I would say we are going to get our money out of it. Well done, we will put in another written review after using it a bit more.

Update, I would recommend this product. We had both dogs out again and one shock is all it took and the beep warning was all we used after that. We will be testing the collars every day so that these two 9 month old pups can play in the yard. When we adopted them from the pound we had to tie them out at the farm or just plain not let them out except in the dog run and now they can be normal dogs and enjoy the outside.

I am giving this product 5 stars. We lowered the shock to setting 4 and that will do the trick and we can now let them out of the house (while we stay warm inside) and they do stay in the boundry lines we set for them and only remind them with the beep.

after having this for my dogs for a few months, I can tell you it is the best training tool I have used for a dog. I now only have to tell them NO and they stop what they are doing and come to me. it is amazing how quickly a dog progresses with this collar. I think I have only had to use the "shock" part a couple of times before they realized when I say no, they need to stop and come to me. The only reason I din't give it 5 of 5 stars is that I am finding that after a few months the batteries in the collars are not holding a charge quite as long as they used too.

The range on these are not what I expected, but they do work good for the price. The only other thing is that the collars stay charged for only a few days. Other than that, these are great dogs respond really well and they seem to be waterproof right now. My dogs love the water and they have already gone for a swim with them on and they still work!

These have been wonderful to use while my husband and I have been training our 2 huskies to stop digging in the yard. I would recommend getting one of each size. I have small hands and bf has large ones. Since we are both active in treating our 9 week old pup, having one of each size has been very beneficial. :) Highly recommend!

***UPDATE***: 4-29-09 I have been using the small in puppy classes and in our class we play a game called pass the puppy while the owners are in a sitting position. I like the ability to 'lock' the treats up in the tote so other noisy pups cannot get in their and steal 'em :) I have used it with jeans and spandex pants with no issues with the clip keeping it on. This is a really nice treat pouch like the size and as others have said, easy to clean just turn inside out, wash and let air dry. It stays on very well also never had a problem with it falling off. The drawstring closure is very easy to use. Size is perfect too if you're wondering, definitely get the 2 cup if your dog is in training, the 1 cup is very small.

The reason I gave it only 4 stars is because of what it lacks. It would have been nice to have a little pocket on the outside to put an (unused) poop bag and/or a clicker. The other thing I noticed is that the inside pocket does bunch up a bit and makes it difficult to get to the bottom of the bag easily. All in all though, it's a nice bag. And one more note: It would be nice to be able to choose your color vs. being told colors vary and having to accept whatever they happen to ship.

I originally bought it in an attempt to train my new dog to go potty. However, she is so good at going twice a day that I didn't need to train her with bells. I did have to extend the bells downwards by tying a ribbon at the door handle (for the dog to reach so as not to scratch the door frame or smear the glass pane). Now that the bells are not used by the dog, we still enjoy the pleasant ring whenever the kitchen door opens/closes. I am very happy with the leather and the metal used to make this unit. Good value too.

I have a pit/shepherd mix so when she isn't pulling me down the street...she is pulling me down the street to sniffing something. I got this harness because all the other ones I have gotten her always leave marks afterwards especially if I take her hiking. This harness is kick ass and is perfect for any dog who pulls and you can leave it on them even when they are not on a leash because it is so comfortable. On top of this being a great product I would like to say the seller is just as great. I ordered the wrong size and when I wanted an exchange the seller got back to me within half an hour to inform me that they where currently out of stock but to place a new order and to donate the harness I have on top of a full refund

The harness works fine, but it does take time for the dog to get used to being pulled back. I think this should come with a manual to help the new owner learn to train their dog with it. I was being walked by my dog, now unless he see's a cat, I get to walk him, more or less.

My dog is a champion puller. I used the trick of walking 180 degrees away from the dog when he pulls. That really did work to have him walk without pulling all the time. But since you basically go in circles with that plan--this harness allows us to take actual walks together. It is a very gentle way to remind a dog not to pull. However, my dog can certainly pull forward and disregard the gentle pull of the harness if he he wants. So it helps to train--but it does not stop a dog from pulling. I love the harness--it works for me. Today, I walked him with just a collar on--well, the harness makes for a much better walk.
