Wee-Wee Pads for Adult Dogs

I have tried a wide variety of pads from premium priced to cheapies. I have two dogs a small cocker and an 85 lb basset hound mix -really big guy with a large holding tank. They are crossed trained to go out when possible -but in middle of night or if I am away all day -they know its good to go on the pads.

This is simply the most absorbent I have found. Others were OK for the cocker. But the big guy has so much in him when he pees -and these absorb it all and stay awfully dry underneath.

Shop around as well -even these pads have a wide variance in price. I always buy the 75 pack size which is hard to find -but search -you will find it.

Great pad, excellent overall value. Especially at the lower end of the pricing spectrum I usually pay $116 delivered for 300 pads)(which lasts a long time)

I have a 15 lb pug and she uses the pad 2-3 times a day (winter). Although this fits my schedule, comparing it to the Petco brand pads, it's much thinner in the absorbtion department. As soon as the liquid lands, it spreads out and that takes up about 1/3 of the pad. Since my dog will not pee on the same spot again, the pad has about a 3 time useage. The Petco brand is more thicker and the liquid will not spread out so far therefore you have a 4-5 time usage. Once you break down the amount of pads you use a day vs the cost, the Petco brand comes out cheaper in the long run. That's why this only gets a 3 star from me.

I have ordered from them 3-4 times this year since I got a puppy in May, and now my order from August my latest box is a rip off. It's still "four paws" but it's not the same kind of pad. The pads they used to send were the good kind that look and felt softer and actually worked. The new kind is thin and more coarse and does not absorb much at all. HUGE difference. It is much cheaper quality.

This is a very sneaky move. They know that I won't bother sending it back because it's not worth it to ship it and get what becomes a partial refund. I end up losing money. So you win, you can keep my money. But you won't be getting any more. If you had sent me the kind that I had always gotten from you, you would have had my business indefinitely. Now you ruined it. Enjoy this bad review.

Oh yea, if you decide to do the right thing and send me the real product I wanted for free, I will take this down. I'm not sure if Amazon allows you to delete a comment, but I will at the very least amend this one. But for now, everyone, DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT, as of September 2010, they are selling the CHEAP VERSION.

I have been ordering these pads from Petsolution through Amazon since September 07 and re-order monthly. I use this product for my incontinent mother to save her mattress from accidents. I also place one pad on her wheel chair and on her electric lift reclining chair. It is so much easier to throw away a pad than it is to try washing the chairs or mattress. It also extends the useful life of the chairs and mattress. By placing pads on top of the mattress, then putting on the bed sheet and laying another pad on top of the sheet can also eliminate the need to wash the bed linen daily. This saves energy as well. Joybies Pads for Piddlers(TM)

I bought these to go along with my Joybies Piddle Pants for my cat who is very naughty. They work well. Since I started using them I have not had to wash the carpet. Though I do wish the piddle pants had a vinyl lining on the bottom or inside, because I have noticed it has a tendency to leak a bit into the material of the pants. I've washed my blanket the cat likes to sleep on a couple of times because of the leakage and not knowing she's gone until later, but that would be fixed if the pants had a vinyl lining to hold it in. But these pads work well for what they're for.

Your piddle pants and diapers have been a blessing for my senile senior cat. I would highly recommend your products.

I am sure this product works great. And I really needed it. Unfortunately, by the time it arrived, my cat had passed away.

I placed this order on Feb. 19. The stated arrival date was between March 18 and March 26. Joybies listed it as shipped on Feb. 24. It arrived on April 3, 2013. The post mark was April 1, 2013! What the heck?!? After my cat passed away, I forgot about this order. But, having this product in the time frame promised, would have saved me a lot of hassle, as my cat was urinating on the bed every day prior to his death.

Jones Natural Chews Pumpers 1 per pack

Four dogs. They were hard pressed to keep these away from the cats. Had to break one up for the cats so the dogs could eat theirs. These are hard chews and I had to use a hammer to break it up for the cats.

Larger dogs will go through these pretty fast, but they are worth the pleasure I know they had munching on them. My smaller guys chewed 5-10 minutes.

For a long chew, the Tendons are one of the best, but I will order these again since all my fuzzy friends flipped over them...

I have a picky rottweiler mix who, despite her rottie heritage, really isn't a tough chewer. She won't even carry something in her mouth if it's "too heavy" and she won't chow down on something if it's too tough. I bought one of these at a local pet store just to see if she would eat it, and I was totally shocked when she wolfed it down. I have drawers full of various bones and treats that I end up having to donate to charity so I had pretty much given up on trying new things, but I'm glad I found these!

I can't find them anymore at the local store so I'm left ordering them on Amazon..started giving them to her after dinner and now that's all she wants! They don't seem to stain but they do break up into a lot of pieces, and she's not very "drooly" maybe it would stain the carpet if she was.

Also, these can be eaten pretty fast. They're more like pork ears than a rawhide or bone, they break up pretty fast once the dog starts eating them. All in all, though, I love giving them to her and I LOVE Jones Natural chews. We've tried a bunch of their bones and love them all! (well, most of them she's picky!) They also have good guides as to what kind of bone to buy for your dog based on their chewing preference and size.

Easy Walk Harness - Small, Fawn

It's ironic that I selected this harness because I thought it would be easy to put on given the two-buckle system versus a step-in harness. To be fair, it could be my dog's issue only. Neither my daughter nor I could get this harness on properly. We were at obedience school and twice it ended up on the dog's butt and then on the ground. We gave up and tried a one-buckle harness that my daughter wanted. It worked much better. It could be that my dog was too impatient and jumping around that we could not figure out the two-buckle system (even though we practiced without the dog). The medium was a little too big for my 15+-pound dog, but the small would have been too small and I think the straps were thinner which I didn't like. Maybe others will have better luck. BTW, although a small detail, a matching lead makes the look much more polished and put together.

I don't know why... but put this on your pooch and it instantly stops pulling. I put the leash back on the collar, and I get pulling again.

Start this harness with your puppy to nip the habit of pulling from the beginning. The "tween" sizes are ony found on-line and much cheaper than in the pet stores. Machine washes/dryes well. Great investment!

I have a small cocker spaniel that likes to pull and would not tolerate the head harness/gentle leader. After using this for 3 months I can say it does keep her from pulling. Not that she doesn't try still. The only negatives are the price and the way you have to put it on takes a few seconds more. Overall though I am very satisfied.

I am very impressed with these collars. They are made of very heavy-duty nylon and I like the way they are designed so that the buckle does not rest directly against the dog's neck. The buckle is padded by a layer of the collar itself. It also has a sewn-in reflective strip for additional safety. I think they will hold up very well. The 21" size fits both my pit bull and my German shepherd. I highly recommend these collars.

I used this thing for 3 weeks. My routine: My dog wore the collar for 2 hours per day. I used the shock function maybe 2 or 3 times (total, over 3 weeks) then used only vibrate -maybe 2 times per day. After our walk, I then I took the receiver collar off her and removed the battery, as per the instructions to prolong battery life.

Even with this VERY limited use, the receiver battery (a special 6V type) went dead in a week -5 to 7 days. The unit shipped with 2 batteries, but when I went shopping for a replacement, I found they cost $10 each at my local discount store. And the Duracell I bought didn't last any longer than the off-brand batteries that came with the collar.

Also, note that the shock level buttons are backwards of what most people would assume: "1" is the highest shock, and "6" is the lowest. I.e., smaller number = bigger shock. The directions do say this, but it's counter-intuitive -and the first time I gave my 80-lb dog a "1", she jumped about two feet in the air. (I apologized profusely to her for not reading the directions.)

Now, the good news is that my dog did respond to the training, and learned quickly. But I need something that doesn't cost me $10 per week. I'm returning this one.

The 2 batteries that came with this collar died after a week. Battery for collar starts at $3.00 on line , can't find any in stores. Collar battery lasted 3 days. After spending a week searching for new batteries, I finally get them and the collar doesn't work. I strongly recommend not buying this collar.

I've been diligent in making potty time not play time. If we're planning on going out and he rings the bell while I'm getting ready, we go out and go potty and then come back in and wait a while until we go back out for play. Freedom No-Pull Harness

After thirty years of dogs and dog training I have become pretty stink-eyed when it comes to manufacturers' claims that a particular product will help fix your dog. I purchased this freedom harness because it was recommended for use on reactive dogs in Grisha Stewart's book on Behavior Adjustment Training, and I happen to have my dog enrolled in a BAT class. After using the harness on my shy, reactive dog I have come to believe that Stewart is wrong in her recommendation.

First, I will admit that the design of the harness is excellent, as are construction and materials (heavy-duty metal parts, but the plastic clasps are standard issue). The velvet lining on the belly strap is a thoughtful detail. There is one sharp edge on my harness, where the strap end was heat sealed. The sliding handle on the double-ended leash is a useful safety backup when handling a strong dog -I looped it over my wrist while I worked the rest of the lead. I found that I could use the chest attachment to keep my dog in a close heel, while the martingale loop on his back was good for giving gentle corrections. A tug on the chest leash turned my dog around efficiently, when quickness was needed. My dog did attempt to back out of the harness, but was unable to.

I was convinced this was a great product as long as I was handling my dog in a calm, controlled environment. When I took him into the real world and he reacted to a trigger, however, the tightening of the belly strap as I restrained him made him even more agitated, and it just spiraled up from there. I believe that action -the forced restriction of the chest -is inappropriate and harmful for the reactive dog. It causes panic in the shy dog, especially, ramping up the fight or flight response.

This harness may be appropriate for a dog who is of sound temperament, but is simply headstrong on the leash or too strong for the handler. It does provide control. I do not recommend it, however, because of the very negative effect it had on my dog. I did not like the noncommittal response I got from the company when I noticed them of the harness's detrimental effect, either.

If you decide to give it a try, be careful with sizing. My cattledog fell in between sizing brackets (a medium in girth and breed recommendation, but a medium 1" strap in weight). I ordered up, getting a 1" strap. The smaller strap would have been adequate for him. I recommend phoning the company for sizing guidance. There is very little room for adjustment, so be exact. The harness is somewhat confusing to put on your dog at first, but it goes on easily once you get the orientation figured out.

We tried several different harnesses which all were uncomfortable for our golden. I researched extensively what I wanted for my dog harness, and came up with the Freedom No Pull Harness. From the very first time I put it on my dog, it was a miracle! She walked with no discomfort, and she did not pull at all. I love the leash that comes with it. It is a must to have with the harness. I HIGHLY recommend this harness for every dog.

I literally have 5-6 harnesses, but they bunched up or pulled in a weird way. This harness is so easy to fit on the dog. I love that you can attach the leash to the front and back. This has made a huge difference in walking our puppy. Great product no negatives.

I purchased my new pup's first Freedom harness at the urging of kd's breeder. Upon receiving it, I realized I had purchased the harness in a larger size several years ago for my now-deceased larger dog and never used it -I found it too complicated to put on Roger. BUT WAIT!

Then the Freedom harness I purchased for my puppy a year after Roger's death is much smaller, as kd is a Cairn Terrier and will not get anywhere close to Roger's size.

At first, I was using a more attractive harness on kd which has a lot of padding on the shoulder area; sort of a webbed design. But I wasn't grooming kd properly, including my leaving her harness on when she was napping (pure laziness on my part).

When I took kd to be groomed, my groomer found out about my lack of brushing kd a min. of 2x/week AND the fur problem because of the harness I'd used.

I was so glad I kept the Freedom No-Pull Dog Harness brochure that came with kd's harness, as it had fair visuals on how to place the harness on one's canine. Though it looks complicated, the Freedom No-Pull harness is so simple after correctly assembling it on one's dog. And it offers great comfort and control for one's dog.

In the Freedom harness, there's extra care in providing velvet-like material padding where the harness gathers under the dog's front legs. Most harnesses don't have such protection, and the mesh material can irritate some dogs under their front legs due to this design flaw.

I also love how the colors I selected include more visible "neon-like" web material on the top of the harness (where the metal loop assembly is woven into the main harness). This helps drivers and other pedestrians and dog walkers see me and my dog's harness at night and in low-light conditions.

I heartily recommend this product after using it for two weeks on my pet. I'm ordering another, as the only issue I have is my pet's comfort when the harness gets soaked in our Seattle rain storms. I'll hopefully only need two Freedom harnesses for our worst weather (Dec.-Feb.). It'd be great if the manufacturer could design this harness with better water-wicking capabilities.

Recently, I adopted a very skittish Shepherd mix dog from a local shelter. While she has good leash manners for the most part, when she sees a trigger (and trust me, there are lots of them), she freaks out and goes into the red zone where I cannot control her with praise, treats, voice commands, etc. There were several times where she panicked so thoroughly that she nearly escaped from me. Honestly, were this to happen, I don't know if I could catch her before she ended up getting hurt/killed. So I started doing my research. I knew I needed a quality harness, BUT her last owners had severely traumatized her to leashes/harnesses to the point where she would collapse/pee in fear when she saw them. I managed to get her over her leash fear, but she was still terrified of harnesses. Therefore, I was very skeptical about using one. During one of my many online searches, I found a forum where they were discussing no pull harnesses. The Freedom was the favorite and had high praises and recommendations, so I ordered it on a whim. Truly, I did not know what to expect when I opened the package.

I was blown away.

The quality of the craftsmanship is evident the material is heavy duty as are the metal clasps and D rings. The double ended leash is very unique and different from anything I have ever seen. The piece itself is like a work of art and is very attractive even as an accessory! Though I wouldn't say it's all beauty and no function. The harness is designed smartly, so that I don't have to wrangle my dog's legs through any loops and further exploit her fear. It slips over the head easily and then clips on either side. As soon as I started walking, I felt a difference. Merely wearing the harness changed my dog's behavior drastically. The gentle tightening around the chest is enough of a deterrent that she walks calmly next to me without much of a correction. The product also came with a lovely, glossy flyer explaining several ways to use the harness. It is not just a one trick pony! There are four different methods. If the dog is reactive or easily frightened, one end of the leash can be put on the dog's collar and one on the front, so there's no squeezing if that is a problem. On a side note, the velvet lining on the chest strap is wonderful for dogs with short hair such as my lab/pit mix. It prevents her skin from getting chafed which is much appreciated.

I am now going to order one of these harnesses in every color and for each of my dogs.

By the way, not only is this product beautifully made and wonderfully effective it's made in the USA. I love that I can support my own economy by purchasing a quality product that works. I see that the most "helpful" review on this product is currently a One Star and while I respect that person's opinion, I do have to disagree. No one training tool is going to "fix" your dog, and I am not claiming that this tool will work for every dog, but it does work for mine. The price is right, and the shipping is fast, so if you're on the market for a new dog harness, please give this a try.

ABC's of Behavior Shaping; Proactive Behavior Management Seminar DVD Set

You are getting a lot of information for your 5 hours of viewing. What this doesn't give you and what is really needed is a web link to where you can get a copy of the notes from this seminar. This was originally taped in 1996 and was a weekend seminar with Patty Ruzzo and Leslie Nelson also presenting.

If you're really into the science of behavior then Ted will clearly outline all the reasons why things work and don't work. He backs up examples with real life experiences from working with a variety of animals and the mistakes that he has made in the past.

A lot of what Ted was talking about in 1996 has since been used very effectively by a lot of dog trainers in developing a variety of programs. If you've ever wondered where some of the information came from, here's a good starting point for finding it.

One thing that hasn't continued since this seminar was the thought of starting your dog out as a puppy on a variable rate of reinforcement and rewards while teaching behaviors. Why did this get lost? I could imagine that a lot of owners would have less ring issues if they had followed Ted's suggestion in this. This whole section really needs more than I can give you here.

I also like how Ted suggested that you should be training your dog a variety of behaviors. Not just teaching for the obedience ring, but including tracking and agility and play in their repetoire of trained behaviors.

Worth the time and money. Yes, there are some video/audio issues from the original recording but not bad for the technology ten years ago.

Our five rescued dogs LOVE this toy! We followed the instructions online for introducing it to them gradually and getting them used to it by making things very easy at first, to boost their success rate, confidence, and interest... Now two of them use it on the "hardest" level and absolutely BEG for the chance to play with their puzzle!

All I have to do is take it out and they recognize it by sight and can't wait to have their turn with their game. I have to put the other four in a closed room while one uses it, and I hear whining until each has had their turn.

And of course, it achieves the desired effect: dogs that are MENTALLY stimulated AND worn out and ready for a nap afterwards!

We also have a plastic Ottosson toy, and a benefit to that one is that it has rubber feet, and only four pieces come out (the others just slide) so it is much easier to put away when finished. Also, the treat holes in this game are smaller, and it's kind of hard to get the treat to stay in the tube while you're inserting the tube into the board. These are human considerations from the dogs' perspective, that one is a bit easy to get the hang of; not so with this challenging toy.

The construction is very good, and stands up to our dogs' sometimes overly-enthusiastic attempts at getting to the treats (they weight between 50 and 75 lbs.)

For treats we use Premier Liver Biscotti and they work very well.

I'd recommend this toy to any of my friends who are owned by dogs and have. Our dogs are our kids, so we value a product that provides them with a means to stimulate their little minds and bodies in a constructive way.

If you have a dog that is destructive due to boredom, this toy is just what you need!

My dog absolutely LOVES this toy. He's a 70lb sheperad/lab mix and works this toy to get treats out. He's not a chewer, which is good, as the product is made from pressed board and wouldn't stand up to a chewer for more than about 10 minutes.

I would have given this 5 stars if:

1) it was only about 30 dollars

2) it had a little more difficulty to get at the treats on the middle layer.

All in all though, if you have a smart dog that needs some entertainment, this is a good product.

4 stars for the cat. I wouldn't recommend it for large dogs. I have a cat and two large dogs. The cat loved this toy and quickly learned to pull the drawer open by pulling on the handle with his paw. The dogs struggled. The handles are small and the drawers are close together. There just isn't much space for them to manuver a drawer open, and if they did manage to get it open they kept shutting it with their noses when they tried to get the treat out. Small dogs with little feet and noses would probably like it just fine.

Fantastic dog toy, you can make it hard or easy, don't slide the covers closed all the way at first, and after your dog gets it there it a small bowl shaped piece you put upside down between the sliders so the dog has to lift it (another spot for a treat), then slide the covers to get the rest of the treats.

I found that lifting the bowl and sliding the first slider was a good challenge for my terrier, but the cover on one side has to be slid the opposite direction as the slider on the other side, and that took her quite a bit longer to understand. Many many hours of enjoyment, and keeping her thinking and challenged keeps her out of trouble.

Great toy for dogs. I'm not using it as described, but am using it to teach my dog scent discrimination (so only one peg gets the food in it). Once the dog gets the idea of how to find the food, this becomes a really fun game. Took about 3 training sessions to get the dog to stop running off with the pegs and to hunt for the food. My dog now goes wild when I pull the toy down and get it out of the box! It's a great way to play with your dog.

Awesome stuff, it stopped my puppy from chewing on the molding around the floor (knawing off our paint and huge chips of wood), our wooden chairs, and anything else we didn't want her destroying. I also recommend telling them 'no, that's not your toy', and then giving them one of they're toys that they're allowed to chew on and say 'chew on your toy' to help redirect that behavior. It's natural for dogs and especially teething puppies to want to chew on things and they need to have something they can chew on, but this spray really helps to let them know what they can't touch. It's really powerful stuff, definitely hold your breath when spraying it (a mask would probably be better) because if you breathe it in while it's airborne it will linger in your mouth and it tastes HORRIBLE!!

I just got a new puppy and she is chewing on every cord that I have in my house. Given that my other dog is well past that stage I never really worried about having so many power cords, USB cables and printer cables running through my workspace. However, the new baby nearly gnawed through my HDMI cable and I was not happy with that.

As a temporary measure I rubbed some hot sauce (sparingly) on the cables and that seemed to help. I then ordered this spray hoping that it would do the job. Let me just say, it is really potent. Every time that I use it I taste it in the air and I HATE it. It makes my lips swell and the taste lingers for hours. However, the puppy doesn't seem nearly as affected by it as I am. My older dog sniffed the cable that I sprayed (just to see what I was doing) and she ran away from it. Maybe really young dogs--my puppy is 8 weeks old--don't have as finely developed sense of taste as slightly older dogs do. Anyway, I will continue to use it, only AFTER I buy some sort of gas-mask, and I will update this review with my progress.

We've got a young lab that will chew on "anything" and was pulling up/chewing up our neighbor's solar yard and walkway lights. I sprayed this all over the new ones I bought to replace the damaged ones. The dog left them alone for about 3 weeks then, I found one back at our place (but not chewed up). I sprayed it, reset it, and resprayed all of the other ones again. This does seem to work.

Cleared my sinuses right out. Taste and smell does tend to linger. Seems to deter my cat pretty well. Suggest using in well-ventilated environment.

The reviews are right. This doesn't really work. My puppies didn't like the taste. However, they still licked on it. They would just shake their heads after they lick it. Then lick on it again. I wouldn't buy it again.

I have a pit/shepherd mix so when she isn't pulling me down the street...she is pulling me down the street to sniffing something. The harness works fine, but it does take time for the dog to get used to being pulled back. I think this should come with a manual to help the new owner learn to train their dog with it. I was being walked by my dog, now unless he see's a cat, I get to walk him, more or less.

My dog is a champion puller. I used the trick of walking 180 degrees away from the dog when he pulls. That really did work to have him walk without pulling all the time. But since you basically go in circles with that plan--this harness allows us to take actual walks together. It is a very gentle way to remind a dog not to pull. However, my dog can certainly pull forward and disregard the gentle pull of the harness if he he wants. So it helps to train--but it does not stop a dog from pulling. I love the harness--it works for me. Today, I walked him with just a collar on--well, the harness makes for a much better walk.
