Easy Walk Harness - Large, Green

I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the harness itself.

What I had a problem with was the smell when I opened the package. The odor was like a strong stale cigarette smoke, I actually had to soak it in soapy water to try to get rid of the smell. I would suggest no smoking in the area that this item is kept.

I have purchased other harnesses on line and did not have the same problem.

This product works like magic for my 100 lb black lab. He always used to pull really bad and as soon as this was on him he started walking at my side perfectly. Also, the duo tone of the harness helps you remember what side goes on top and what side goes on bottom.

One day at the dog park there was a lady with a mastiff (150 lb) and I had her try the easy walk harness on him (we refit it) and take him for a walk and he instantaneously turned into a sweet angel when she walked him. I'm pretty sure she is going to switch from a prong collar to an easy walk :)

The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that when I used it for a long walk he ended up with pretty bad irritation under his front arm pits. It was from the harness pushing his legs closer to his body during our 2 mile walk. We took him to the vet (it was pretty bad) and he went on antibiotics and now we just throw some Gold Bond powder on his arm pits before we take him out and we haven't had a problem since!

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who has a dog who pulls or anyone who has children and wants their kids to be able to walk the dog without worries!

Katie's Bumpers Double Tug Training Toy

My dog LOVES to tug. When he saw this, he latched on and had me worn out quickly. I left him alone with the tug for 30 seconds or less, while I grabbed a treat for him, and with the tug laying on the couch, he managed to chew through one of the handles. I say 30 seconds, but it was probably more like 20 seconds; the treats were less than 10 feet away. Turned my back and it was done. It's still usable, just not as I intended it to be.

If your dog is chewing through everything then this is the toy for you. (There is also a black one which is a bit stronger, but I found this one was more than strong enough for my dog.) This toy holds up to heavy duty chewing. I have a Mountain Cur that wants to tear apart toyssoft toys last for maybe a half hour if we are lucky (amazingly she never has tried to tear apart a Kongshe seems to know if she destroys it then it won't be a game to get the treats out anymore) so we were looking for something for her to play with/chew on as she seems to want to just sit down and chew on something sometimes. This toy works perfectly. I liked this shape better than the ring or ball option as it looked more like a stick and would be easier for her to hold and chew. After about 3 months there is NO DAMAGE at all to the toy. NONE. Not even one tooth mark. I am stunned. And my dog loved it right from the first time she say it (in fact she was jumping up trying to help me open the envelope it came in she was so excited to get to it).

There are only a couple things that are a teeny bit annoying about this toy. The first is that is smellssort of like fake baconor some of those stinky dog treats. And if you touch ityour hand will smell like that. After three months the smell does seem to be a bit less, but is still def. there and noticeable if you are touching or next to the toy. The second thing that is a little annoying is how hard and heavy this toy is. So if your dog likes to pick up toys and throw them around be careful you are not in the path (or anything breakable) as it will hurt if it hits you.

Overall though I would highly recommend this toyand I think so would my dog!

This toy has held up to punishment and serious chewing from my teenage Lab who can eat his way thru just about any "indestructible" toy. It's heavy and the rubber gives which he finds satisfying. Expensive ... but have a feeling this will last a few years, so you get what you pay for. Also my husband discovered it doubles as a great foot massager!

My dog will eat, chew, and destroy anything. Regardless of how tough, the Kongs last 10 minutes, the Tuff toys are good for an hour. This toy is tough to destroy, but she doesn't like it. And, it's not because it can't be destroyed. She'll chew a rubber ball, a bone, a dish, or even a piece of plastic. For some reason, this is low on the hit list. Go figure...

This is vey very durable play stick. My dog is a stick freak. She chews on sticks every chance she gets. Why do you think her name is Twiggy? :). Anyway, this toy is the only one that she doesn't chew up in a day or two. I guess because it is so tough it isn't her favorite toy though...but she will play with it if I interact with her. I have a miniature American Eskimo dog who hadn't been socialized well as a puppy and tended to be aggressive around strangers and other animals because of her own fear. We've worked hard to rehabilitate her and she's come a long way, but is so anxious that she still barks like crazy when a stranger appears, the kids downstairs are playing outside, the dogs next door bark, or when the doorbell rings (even on TV!). Once she goes into that "red zone," her eyes glaze over and it takes 20 minutes to calm her down. We bought this remote trainer in the hopes that it would stop the anxious barking.

Oh. My. Gosh. Her reaction was almost immediate! The next time she started barking, I hit the button once and she perked her ears up, stopped barking, and ran to me. I was shocked. We tested it again by ringing the doorbell, and this time it was one little yip, then she went and laid on her bed. (Wha?!?) It was amazing. I guess the noise distracts her enough to pull her out of that anxious mode and reroutes her brain so she doesn't work herself up. It even seems to work on the agression. When she growled at my husband because he sat on the couch next to me, I hit the button, she shook her head, then ran up and licked him. Wow! It's like a magic remote control, and we rarely even have to use it anymore. She's learned quickly what behavior we want, without yelling at her. Now we're focusing on curbing the aggression towards other dogs, and getting her to come when called, though I haven't had to use the remote yet. It's definitely progress! She's become visibly more loving and happy now that her mind doesn't put itself into that anxious cycle too often.

Now, that being said, I think this will only work for SOME dogs. My mom tried it on her Golden Retrievers and they just kept barking, ignoring the sound completely. I think it will work best for dogs who are especially sensitive to sounds, and from what I've heard, smaller dogs seem to be more of this type. So I'd suggest borrowing a friend's or getting the $10 "Bark-Off" at Bed, Bath and Beyond first to test out the idea of sound training. If your dog responds to it, then spring for this remote. I'd say it's definitely a great tool if your dog responds to sound!

I love this thing. I purchased mine through Petco in an attempt to correct my cat's bad behaviors. He would wake me up at 3 in the morning pawing on the blinds trying to get outside, claw at the furniture and occasionally become aggressive. One quick press of the button, even if I am in another room, causes him to instantly stop his annoying behaviors! This thing has definitely allowed me to get better sleep. First off, it's a tool. You have to use it as part of your training. Otherwise it won't work. You can't expect it to change the dog's behavior right away. I made this mistake.

I have 2 dogs. A poodle and an aussie. My aussie really took to the device. She was very sensitive to the remote trainer. My poodle is very thick headed. He doesn't understand half of the things I try to teach him unless it involves food. So, it worked for the aussie, but not for the poodle. You just gotta find out what works best on your dog. You know if your dog is trainable or not.

As for what you hear, you can hear one tone, quietly and very high pitched. The other tone you can't hear at all. I can't remember which tone (positive/negative) was which, tho. It also takes a 9 volt battery.

My dog definitely heard the remote she would stop for a very brief second, look at the remote with her ears perked up, then go about whatever it was she had been doing. It did nothing to discourage negative behavior.

I bought this product at a local Petco, hoping it would shut up the horrible barking dogs our neighbors refuse to control. I brought it home and pointed it first at my own two dogs. One dog (at a distance of only about 5 feet) had no reaction at all; the other dog just perked up his ears and then went about his business. Outside, the neighbor dogs didn't even respond to it (not even a flick of the ears) and our dogs just ignored it totally.

Our cat, however, FREAKED OUT and clearly heard the noise.

Great for cats, very, very ineffective for dogs (at least the four I tested it on).

Pish Pad

I have been using Pish Pads for my puppies and show dogs since 2005. I bought a 5 yd. roll and cut it into pieces. I am still using the original roll and have since bought a second roll. They have been washed over and over again and still look as good as the day I bought them. I hang them outdoors to dry and when weather prohibits, I throw them in the dryer. I also use bleach occassionally (although not recommended) and they haven't faded at all. I have tried many of the training pads available and none of them are comparable to the Pish Pad. I was frustrated with other training pads that my puppies would drag around the room or worse yet, shred to pieces. Thanks to the 'stay-put' backing, the Pish Pad stays in one place. The 3 layer construction allows the urine to be quickly absorbed and yet the middle layer keeps it from leaking through and onto the floor. While the initial purchase was pricey, over time they have more than paid for themselves. I did hear someone complain of experiencing them separating, so when I cut them, I stiched all the way around them. Not one of mine has any edges that are separated. If you're not sure, they come in smaller pieces so you can try them yourself. I have found them absolutely the best!

We have 2 Havanese dogs that use these pads daily when we are not home. They last and hold up to washing them in the washer and then hang dry. We use HE detergent, oxy clean, and they do not stink and are holding up just great. Have been using them for almost a year now. We have not had any issues with the pads peeling a part. The only bad thing about them is the price.

I bought this item for my elderly dog for when I am away. They claim to be washable and the blue liner pulls away from the pad. The pad holds liquid but too pricey for the length of time they can be reused. Had my roll for only a month. Don't bother with this product.

I used to go to the store at least once a month to purchase my dogs bark collar batteries. They are usually $11 a pop. I was able to find this bargain with 4 batteries. Now I won't have to make four separate trips when the batteries go dead. I think I saved around $5 on the batteries in total, but I saved more in gas and transportation to go buy these batteries.

Purchased this collar for my 100# Rhodesian Ridgeback as an alternative to a choke collar for training. It is so light weight, more like a bracelet than a collar. It would only be appropriate in the show ring for a large dog. I love the design idea, it would be nice to switch sides with my dog but still have the control of a choke collar. I have yet to find one in heavy gauge without prongs. I'll keep looking. Overall made well and a small size would be appropriate for a dog under 20#.

I purchased a Petlawn, as I live in an apartment in NY, and it's not always easy to get out in the snow and ice in the winter.

This product does everything they say it's going to to. I had my puppy housebroken in 2 weeks, and we started him at 8 weeks. I intend to use this inside at all times, but if you keep your puppy going outside while using the Petlawn, you can train them to go in both areas.

So, if you want to use this part time and go outside the rest of the time, that's not a problem at all.

I had a problem with the first grass that came with my Petlawn, but the company was very helpful and replaced that grass, and in a very speedy fashion. Very good people to do business with for sure!!

UPDATE on this product:

I have maintained this product the way the company itself recommended and the odor from it is disgusting!!!

I did call the company this evening, and they offered NO HELP at all.

Not even as much to send a new piece of grass in case that might be the issue.

Why? Because they sent me a defective piece of grass originally, so they replaced that defective piece, so now because of that, they won't try to help me resolve this problem.

I will be throwing it out and I've only had it since July of 2012, so it's up to you, but I'd think twice about buying it....I wish I had.

Easy Walk Harness - Small, Red

This harness was recommended by a trainer and it worked flawlessly. Even better because after a few initial tugs by the dog, they settled right down. Wonderful walking harness.

I bought this product for our new rescue puppy, a Shih-Tzu mix. She was able to chew on the front part of the harness therefore it didn't last more than about 4mo. We have another product now that I got at PetSmart, it is heavier and the design makes it impossible to chew on it. I'm almost always happy with products from AMAZON but this time it would have been better to just go downtown.

Gentle Leader Quick Release Head Collar, Medium, Fawn

My 65 lb dog does great with this gentle leader. Even my 4 year old and 8 year old can walk the dog when he wears this, because it prevents the dog from pulling. I highly recommend that you watch the included video on how to properly useit. The dog needs to wear it a few times without a leash attached to get used to the feeling of having something around it's mouth. Give your dog a treat when you put it on the first few times, so the dog realizes he will get rewarded for wearing it. After they are used to it, attach the leash and go for a walk. If the dog starts to pull, a gentle tug on the leash will stop them.

we took in a rescue dalmatian that had horrible other animals skills and would chase and bark at everything on our walks pulling and tugging make it extremely hard to walk her.

After about a month now using the gentle leader we have taught her to sit lay down and our walks are now really walks and not a cat hunt ..

I got the medium size, in red not fawn but everything else is the same. I love it, it's made my walks & runs with my dog so much easier and stress free. At first, most dogs won't like it. They will throw themselves on the floor, try wiping it with a paw, etc. Just keep trying but don't leave it on them unattended. My dog is a constant puller, and at times it comes on very sudden which is annoying. This took care of the issue immediately. Makes me want to take him out more often. Definitely recommended.

I bought the Gentle Leader Head Collar for my 65lb female Rhodesian Ridgeback who thinks she's a sled dog. She was constantly pulling and choking herself with a regular collar, so I decided to try this.

It somewhat worked. When she pulled, it turned her head, which she didn't like. She pulled a lot less often. But, she hated the collar so much that she would constantly swipe at it with her paws while we were walking. It was a funny looking dance, but I take the dogs for a walk to relax, not to annoy the hell out of them. Before or after a walk she would rub her face on the carpet or grass in attempts to get the collar off of her. In addition, because the hookup of the leash/collar is under her head, I found that she would walk over it a lot and it would end up under one of her arms. They we had to do an untangle dance. Not fun at all.

I decided to try the Sporn Pet Halter instead after watching their videos and trying my other dog's regular harness on her. It really works. I'm not sure about the science behind it, but it has completely solved my sled dog problem and we walk much happier now.

Over the last year, since my elderly Golden Retriever developed kidney problems, I have tried a number of different sizes and brands of "puppy training pads," with varied success. Do yourself a favor, and purchase something that is a little higher quality. The other brand i bought was the Four Paws, Wee Wee XL puppy pads and they are amazing! The biggest thing i noticed was how much better the wee wee XL pads were at controlling odors. This "out" brand doesn't hold any odors, as soon as a dog pees on the pad the smell will remain until you throw the pad out. The wee wee's are sooo much better in this regard.

This program is great for off leash control. The methods are based off of the Koehler method, but I would say they are scaled back for the modern day "house dog" who enjoys the conveniences of human society. The only thing that I would have liked is some kind of a way to ask some questions, but I have been to the site and it is obvious people do not watch the videos thoroughly and end up asking about things covered in the video over and over, so i suppose that is understandable, but really some customer service would help, especially with dogs, since they can be unique. I also felt that all the methods may not work as well for certain dogs, like a doberman, or pit bull, or any more sporty, working, or energetic type dog that needs to be who they are and perhaps engage in some work that is more suited for their personalities. There is also no schedule laid out in the program, and even though some people need to go on longer with training, there should be some kind of basic organization to the whole thing. These methods are the best so far aside from directly communicating with dogs (which we obviously can't do at this time), and have given great results compared to methods applied in the past. There is also the probability, especially in a bigger city, that some people will see your method and through utter ignorance give you a hard time(Stand your ground and kill them with kindness). These are the things that this method is up against,so it is a test for you and your dog, but if you have a calm collected personality, patience, time, and the will to see your dog makes it to the freedom they deserve this is the path for you. I also applied this to several dogs, and for some dogs they just get it right away and have those personalities that just follow and listen without much of a hassle to the Master, and then there are the dogs that are very nice, but always want to be leading (male doberman), and then there are the ones that will just not cooperate in anyway and always be giving a hard time for a long time. Consider if YOU are mentally ready to take on the challenge that you face, dogs are incredibly intelligent and we should not forget this, they will find every loop hole they can if that is who they are.I am a novice, but I have also used this method on an out of control, timid, German shepherdwolf hybrid, and I cannot say everyone will get the same result, but literally it was amazing to see this beautiful dog go from being hidden away constantly to getting complete off leash freedom, Your dog will also get this "look" the bottom jaw drops, the tongue comes out and it looks like a dog smile, this is a good sign. Good luck!

My dog chewed right through the leash. The training video could be more to the point and not so long and drawn out. While it may help with a pulling dog, so would a pronged choker collar. Which, by the way, he says you may have to resort to anyhow. I think it did not help in other aspects of training, I can get same results with treat training, the expense of the product is not worth the outcome.

We have a very large yellow lab that was hard to walk outside because of the strong pull he had. I was hopefull that this would help but it made him harder to handle with the blue collar. Every time we went for a walk he became very upset and harder to handle. We reviewed the cd over and over but nothing worked. Wew went back to his old collar and now he is happier but still pulls.

I have struggled for years to find an effective flea treatment that didn't cause a toxic reaction (skin or in general) with my dogs and cat. I bought this product only because it advertised it as natural/herbal and not chemical. True indeed, but the oils they use can be just as harmful, if not worse. I bought this for my two puppies. One of them became sick overnight from an allergic reaction. I also did some research right after and learned that the main ingredient, Pennyroyal Oil, is toxic and can be fatal if ingested. It was also once used as an abortifacient, so I wouldn't recommend pregnant women being exposed to it. You may be wondering if this product works? I asked a veterinarian today if herbal collars work mentioning this brand in particular. He claimed that these collars do not work and are commercialized and a waste of money.

I tried to make a return through Amazon, but unfortunately it is not covered under the return policy. Please look elsewhere...you'll be glad you did.

Other notes: I tried to find other reviews online regarding this product and didn't find too many. I did find two different pet websites with the exact same reviews. Looks like some employee from Petguard is making up reviews for the company to make it look good. Now that is pathetic.

I use treats for obedience and agility classes. I need a treat that is not crunchy, but chewy and capable of breaking up into small bits. This product is easily broken up...too easily. It reminds me of a thin layer of chocolate but does not melt as such. The selling point is the natural dehydration, rather than freeze dried. I did not find it useful for my purpose.

Very small pieces easy for little dogs to eat. Great to take on trips not messy , easy to break little bits off for little dogs
