My pug does not like a harness that goes over his head. He likes stepping into and out of this harness. It is easy to click on and off. He prefers this harness over all others I have tried. I highly recommend it, especially for pugs, who have delicate necks and should not wear neck collars.

I bought the DogTek 400 because I needed two collars; however, I can't get them to both operate individually. Using one collar works great, but can't use them on both my dogs at the same time. We only had to use the flash button a couple of times on the low setting to correct our dogs and now we just use the beep and they immediately stop misbehaving. If I could get them synced to use together I would rate them at 5 stars

The Precision Pet ProValu crate would be the perfect crate if not for two major issues.

First the pros:

Now, the two major issues. First, I bought the 24x18x19 one door crate. This is the second to the smallest crate available. The issue is the height of the entrance to the crate. It seems extremely high in comparison to crates I've had in the past. I have a puppy and he basically has to jump in and out of the crate. When you are trying to crate train a puppy, this is a big issue. You want it to be easy for the puppy to go in and out on it's own. They should basically be able to step in and out, without having to jump.

Which leads us to the second big issue. All of the corners are rounded on the crate and most of the wire ends are on the outside of the crate. The one big exception is the two wires that stick up on INSIDE of the entrance to the crate. Not only was my puppy having to jump in and out of the crate, but his belly was getting scratched every time he did. This is a dealbreaker for me. I can't have my puppy injuring himself everytime he goes in and out, not to mention what he might do to himself while he is in there with these sharp wires sticking up on the inside of the crate. I though surely this had to be a manufacturing defect on the crate I got, but I went to a local pet store that had this same crate. They were setup in every size and sure enough, they all had the wires sticking up on the inside of the entrance.

It really is a shame, because I think this would be the perfect crate if those two issues could be fixed.

I don't feel it's adequate for my dog, much less for any heavier. My dog is a Maltipoo that weighs under 10 pounds and I don't feel confident that it could keep her, and hasn't without extra closures.

I discovered upon receipt that this collar uses the new PetSafe proprietary battery, not two cr2032 batteries as indicated by the seller. If you don't mind expensive batteries, no problem. I bought this one over several others offered on Amazon and elsewhere specifically because it supposedly used the cr2032's, which can be bought in bulk cheap. Going to keep it, but I am disappointed.

PetSafe, I imagine, felt it a clever move to boost profits by changing the design to take only their batteries. When these batteries die, I will look into changing systems altogether, or attempt modification of the receiver to accept cr2032's.

Ruff Riders Roadie Canine Vehicle Safety and Training Harness - Size Medium1

First of all, it is really annoying that, at the time of this review, Amazon has all the different sizes of the Ruff Rider Roadie broken out as separate listings rather than as one listing with different size options.

A note about the sizing: be sure to consult not just Amazon, but the Ruff Rider website, as the sizing information is more detailed on the Ruff Rider site. Basically, there are two smalls, two mediums, etc. Be sure to measure carefully my dog measured for a Small 2, but at 48 lbs., I would never have expected her to be a small in anything. Also, go up a size if they are even close to the borderline. She was right in the middle of the range for this size but could probably stand to go up a size.

I ordered two of these, a Small 2 for my 48 lb. dog and a Medium 1 for my boyfriend's dog. Note that the medium had an extra adjustment strap on the chest (although we didn't find it useful) and had wider straps. Importantly, we were not able to fit my seatbelt buckles through the loops in the Small 2, but they fit just fine through the Medium 1. This means we had to use a large carabiner for the Small 2 to properly attach it to the car. *A note about carabiners*: if you are not already familiar with carabiners through rock climbing or related sports, be sure to familiarize yourself with them before using one for this purpose. You need to get a real one with a locking closure, not a novelty one, and it needs to be rated for the appropriate amount of force (usually given in kilonewtons). It takes a pretty heavy duty one to adequately attach your Ruff Rider Roadie (if needed), as 50+ lbs. of dog in an accident at 70 mph can exert a much greater amount of force than a person slipping and falling from a rock ledge.

The primary design flaw I encountered is that the dog can step on the seat belt buckle (accidentally or otherwise), thus releasing both the belt and their Roadie. A solution to this would be to use a high-quality carabiner to attach the Roadie to your vehicle's car seat attachments, circumventing the seat belt entirely.

Having said all that about sizing and attaching the product to the car, I have to say that the overall construction of this product is great. It is strong and the stitching is strong. I did a lot of research into this before making a purchase, because I was going on a cross-country roadtrip and wanted to keep my dogs safe in the event of an accident and also keep myself and my boyfriend safe 100 lbs. of dogs flying forward in an accident is not safe for anyone. I discovered that because dog seatbelts don't have to be approved by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or anything like that, the quality can be really inadequate. Most are probably fine for keeping your dog from jumping around the car, but are not sufficient to protect you and your dog in an accident. For example, plastic buckles are unlikely to hold up in a high-speed impact. The manufacturers of sub-par products probably know this but are hoping that their customers either don't care about this aspect or won't apply critical thinking skills to the situation.

Both of our dogs seemed to not mind this product, even when being walked in it out of the car. My dog is squirmy but had no issues putting it on via setting it over her head first then pulling her legs through. However, she was able to back out of it once when I was getting her out of the car.

Altogether, I was really impressed with the quality of this product, particularly its construction. It's worth the money to keep your dogs, yourself, and your family safe in the car.

SIZING: Ok. Let me start off my saying that this harness RUNS VERY SMALL. My dog's measurements are on the lower end of those listed for the small 2, (not even...he has a 18 inch neck and 24 inch chest) but that one was way too small. He is around 45 pounds. I tried the medium and it fit just fine. A little loose on him, but the manufacturer states that this harness is better a little loose than skintight. Also, the smaller size was impossible to put on, the medium was a struggle but get on fine.

FIT: The medium has wider straps which I prefer. I don't know how reliable this is in a crash compared to other dog seatbelts but the wide straps are great for when you need to make sudden stops. The medium has a yellow chest adjustment strap the small didn't have. It cinches the neck area maybe 1-3 inches smaller. There is a side adjustment strap. I wouldn't call these adjustment straps, because they're not really adjustment straps, they're more of a cinch.

CONSTRUCTION: This is a top notch product. The harness is built very sturdily and uses very strong (but soft) nylon webbing. It is all one piece with minimal hardware which I like. The strap that connects the harness to your car is securely attached to the actual harness. It is one piece. The straps are wide but because there are no adjusters (beside the cinches) or extra material, it ends up being very light. Also, your dog will be comfortable laying on the harness in long car rides as there is not bulky hardware to lay on. The connecting strap can be folded up into an elastic loop when not in use.

PUTTING IT ON: This is the worst thing about the harness. You have to maneuver your dog into it. If you dog doesn't appreciate being handled it it's limits or having it's feet touched you will have a pretty bad time. You either have to bend your dog's neck or legs in order to get this on. It's a lot of bending. Remember, this is a harness that doesn't adjust! It cinches tighter only. My dog hates this process and sulks. Taking it off is more difficult than putting it on!

Aside from sizing and putting in on, I think this is the best dog seatbelt harness out there. It is very well made and was actually made to keep your dog safe rather than just out of the driver's way.

You know how you see something and you really hope it will work for you? I really had high hopes for this product.

I ordered the Medium#1 for my older dog and the Small#2 for my young dog.

According to the sizing charts, I should have bought the Small#1 (her neck is 18", chest 21") for my young dog but wanted to give her room to grow as she is only 1 year old. It is a good thing I ordered the Small#2 because while it fits once I get it on her, it is a struggle to get it on. I can't imagine how difficult it would have been to put the Small#1 on her. I watched the video on the manufacturer's website and I tried both methods to put it on and they are both difficult for me. (Maybe the dog in the video is used to having it put on and therefore doesn't offer any resistance). I'm hoping it will get easier as I use it. I did try the Medium#1 on her to see if it was any better and it was easier to get on her but it was way too big even after adjustment.

My older dog has arthritis and I could not get the Medium#1 on him without causing him pain. I thought perhaps a Medium#2 would be better but given the struggle I had with the young dog even with the next size larger, I have decided to return the Medium#1 and go back to using the old harness which has a large buckle across the shoulders and does not require me to push or pull on his sore joints.

I do give them kudos on construction. It seems very sturdy and I'm sure the lack of plastic buckles makes it much more likely to stay on the dog in the event of an accident. And I really like the tether that can be used as a short leash. And their suggestion of using a carabiner to attach the dogs to an anchor point or tie down is much appreciated and is something that I will use no matter what brand of harness I use.

I'm not saying don't buy the product, I'm suggesting that you consider how flexible your dog is. It just wasn't right for me and my arthritic dog.

I wanted to love this product, and if it had properly fit my dog, I am sure I would have at least liked it. I measured my dog and she fell between the 2 sizes. The first one was too small, and the next larger one was too small as well! The product gets excellent safety reviews from safety professionals, but ultimately I went with another product (also safety tested) that has a lightly padded chest piece which should better distribute the shock of any car crash as well as be more gentle/comfortable for the dog.

I really like this harness. I feel that it is made really well, and I love how the short little leash on the back has two different places to run the seatbelt through (to keep your dog more firmly seated, or give him slightly freer reign). The lease is also perfect length for my dog's height and my arm length (I'm 5'4") that I can walk him easily at rest stops, between the car and the vets, etc. without having to get out his normal leash. All of the connecting pieces are firmly sewn together. The buckles are just for adjustment and aren't at any stress points. I honestly think I need to worry about my car's seatbelt giving out before this thing, since this seems more solidly constructed! =P

My only complaint is that it is a bit difficult to get my dog into the harness, but I suppose that is a result of being a safe car harness design. My Sam is a 50 lb. golden retriever mix, approaching birthday #8, but my mom calls him Hot Dog because he's reddish and longer in the body than is typical of dogs his size; consequently he is on the short side and doesn't have as much leg to pull through as a "normal" 50 lb. dog.

I've found that the best way to get him in the harness is to have him lay down with his paws out in front of him. I slide the harness halfway up his front legs, duck his head down to the floor (he lies like this a lot anyway, so it's not awkward for him), slip it over his head, then continue to pull his legs through, one at a time. It is a bit awkward and takes a little more time than other harnesses, probably, but there is no way I'd be able to get him in it standing up without painfully contorting him.

I feel confident that my best buddy is safe in the middle back seat of my car when I need to transport him. I recently used it on a 6 hour drive when I moved out of state, and he seemed comfortable the whole time. I had his kitty in her carrier next to him, and he curled up facing her with his head resting on a garbage bag of dirty clothes I put on the floor on the hump in front of him, and drifted off to sleep. He's agoraphobic and usually is a complete slobbery mess in cars (when he was younger he threw up every time I had to get him in a car, and once he even lost bowel control -_-;), so I think this harness makes /him/ feel safer, too!

Also great for training a puppy!

My dog is a picky eater, so finding treats she will eat is a challenge! She LOVES these treats and, since she is a small dog, their small size really helps in training/rewards. My 65 lb dog does great with this gentle leader. Even my 4 year old and 8 year old can walk the dog when he wears this, because it prevents the dog from pulling. I highly recommend that you watch the included video on how to properly useit. The dog needs to wear it a few times without a leash attached to get used to the feeling of having something around it's mouth. Give your dog a treat when you put it on the first few times, so the dog realizes he will get rewarded for wearing it. After they are used to it, attach the leash and go for a walk. If the dog starts to pull, a gentle tug on the leash will stop them.

we took in a rescue dalmatian that had horrible other animals skills and would chase and bark at everything on our walks pulling and tugging make it extremely hard to walk her.

After about a month now using the gentle leader we have taught her to sit lay down and our walks are now really walks and not a cat hunt ..

I got the medium size, in red not fawn but everything else is the same. I love it, it's made my walks & runs with my dog so much easier and stress free. At first, most dogs won't like it. They will throw themselves on the floor, try wiping it with a paw, etc. Just keep trying but don't leave it on them unattended. My dog is a constant puller, and at times it comes on very sudden which is annoying. This took care of the issue immediately. Makes me want to take him out more often. Definitely recommended.

I bought the Gentle Leader Head Collar for my 65lb female Rhodesian Ridgeback who thinks she's a sled dog. She was constantly pulling and choking herself with a regular collar, so I decided to try this.

It somewhat worked. When she pulled, it turned her head, which she didn't like. She pulled a lot less often. But, she hated the collar so much that she would constantly swipe at it with her paws while we were walking. It was a funny looking dance, but I take the dogs for a walk to relax, not to annoy the hell out of them. Before or after a walk she would rub her face on the carpet or grass in attempts to get the collar off of her. In addition, because the hookup of the leash/collar is under her head, I found that she would walk over it a lot and it would end up under one of her arms. They we had to do an untangle dance. Not fun at all.

I decided to try the Sporn Pet Halter instead after watching their videos and trying my other dog's regular harness on her. It really works. I'm not sure about the science behind it, but it has completely solved my sled dog problem and we walk much happier now.

EZwhelp Washable Whelping & Puppy Pad 27" x 32"

Like others, I don't know how it does it but it stays dry. I have a small dog that just never got the whole potty training thing. I also have a large older dog that is starting to have accidents from time to time. So I have bought a couple of each and they are great. The prices are reasonable and save you $, keeping you from buying the disposable ones. & most importantly keep all of that nasty plastic out of the landfills.

These pads are nice quality for the price. They do become saturated much quicker than disposable pads. These would be good for travel like when I take my dogs with me to the in-laws. The brown hides the stains better. If you want to use these full time, I would buy one for each day of the week especially with bigger dogs.

I immediately noticed that the stains spread much quicker across the pad. With disposable pads, the stain pretty much stays where she leaves it. With this, the stain spreads across the pad in a larger space than the original stain. Keep in mind I have Chihuahuas so I think with bigger dogs they would need to be changed daily.

So overall this is a decent product but not as absorbent as disposable pads. I would use it either for travel or to put under regular pads in case the dog misses the pad when she goes. These are not a disposable pad replacement.

Got these for my tiny new Havanese puppy, under 2 lbs. when we got her. Havanese are infamous for shredding paper so none of the paper pads worked. Although the mere thought of putting these in my washing machine freaked me out I gave them a try and now we are hooked -she's never even nibbled a corner of these and is very attracted to the "carpet-like" :) surface. I use the Mega steam and extra rinse cycles with a little oxy stuff thrown in. Sophie Tsu Nami now weighs 6.5 lbs. and I'm ordering several more of the bigger 27 x 32 size since she under-estimates her size now and thinks if her paws are on the pad her bum is too. Over time I've ordered probably 20 in various sizes. Also perfect for back of SUV for potty breaks while traveling. Great to leave at Grandma's house for visits too. 10 stars.

I was originally a bit grossed out about throwing these in my washer but I always wash a load of rags after and have never had a problem. Plus my dog only urinates on them. I do tend to put some baking soda in the wash just in case but it's because of the other brand of pads I purchased prior to these.

The first brand of pads that I found seemed to disperse more liquid, which dried faster and therefore left more area for my dog to go again if I wasn't home yet. However, even after the first use and wash, they tend to still smell. I end up spraying them with Febreeze while they are hanging to dry.

The EZwhelp pads never smell after the wash. They dry quickly and I won't buy another brand now. I was using biodegradable pads before which aren't as easy to find and still make so much waste. I'm so glad I found these.

I have a pitbull with severe allergies. Her vet had her on prednisone which I was concerned about once reading up on it as it can cause problems with prolonged use of the medication. Some of the side effects of long term Prednisone can be:

The range has not been tested outside of 200yards, but out to that it has been perfect. The power levels are more than sufficient to correct the dog (even the 95lb brute I have). The instruction manual and DVD are excellent training for the master/owner of the dog. Excellent product!

The collar works great and the company includes a lot of valuble informaiton explaining the proper use of the collar. I would recomend this collar to anyone seeking a similar product.

I was skeptical about getting an E-collar but I was willing to take a chance. I have a springer spaniel that is very active with his dad (me). We go out on my families' land a lot and are always outdoors. My little guy would allow his sniffing nose to get himself up to 75 yds away from me with me yelling "Here" "Come" and whistling my certain whistle that he "should" know always means COME...well needless to say sometimes it would take a lot to get him to come and I would become very frantic in trying to find him...he is my best friend and I love my little buddy a lot and I never want to lose him or hurt him with any type of shock---I actually tried the collar shock on myself to feel the effects---I have not had to set the device above 2---number 1 you cannot feel at all hardly...number 2 setting you can definitely feel and it does feel like a static shock and would get my attention...I mostly wanted it like I said for out in the field and b/c springers are known for jumping up so much "b/c they love everyone" but I have a lot of older people he is around especially my grandmother and my neighbor that he doesn't need to jump up on....I have worked with him a lot on this but he still needed a little help b/c my little pup is hard-headed (when he was a little puppy I picked him out b/c of this---all the little puppies came to me every time except him he would just sit and look like "why are you all running to him"--that's why I picked him out)...I love him and now after a couple of weeks all I really have to use is the toner and when he hears that beep with my command and most of the time the command just works he is up to me pretty quick sitting down and no jumping...so the toner is really all he needs now...if you want to try it, def. do---it will work...at least it did for me (and springers love water so the water proof quality is great too!)

I got this "good boy collar" for my lab to remind him that he needs to have good manners, even when he's not within arms reach. The option for an audible beep works great, and he rarely needs corrections beyond that now. The easily adjustable settings allow for just enough stimulation to remind him to behave, without making him too uncomfortable. Great product!

PetSafe Premier Clicker Duo

I just bought this clicker at petsmart because I have two dogs to train. It is supposed to have two distinct sounds so that each pet gets a consistent message the instant they do something right.. Great idea.. But it just didn't work. The chimes took too long to sound (that instant between the dog doing the right thing and no longer doing the right thing passed before the sound) and the click sometimes played a chime and sometimes clicked. I tried hitting the chime button hard and the click button soft, but this had inconsistent results as well.. Wish I could get one that works ad advertised.

Rushed home from petSmart to try it out.

It came with 2 batteries...no instructions for insertion. Tiny recepticle, tried one battery..did not work. I was worried about inserting two and closing. Maybe I would not be able open it again. I ended up inserting both batteries, one on top of the other and closed the cap door. The signal light blinked on and off and clickers still did not work. I had a devil of a time getting the cap door open. In a terrible sweat, I had to jimmy it open. I guess blinking light indicates low battery?? There was a website listed on the package for further "help" but it did not have one shred of advise.

This product is way overpriced for what you have to spend in gas and time to return the crazy gizmo.

UDATE: I bought batteries today with the hope that the ones that came with the clickers were old and diminished and just needed to be replaced. No such luck. Upon inserting the new batteries and after a few seconds delay, a light started to blink just like the previous ones that came with the Clik-R Duo. It will be returned.

Another UPDATE: I guess this useless thing is still making someone a ton of money... otherwise it would have been taken off the market by now. Everybody who is duped into ordering this represents $10... Multiply that by unsuspecting patrons across the country and somebody is living high on this constant source of revenue.

I just received my Clicker Duo. I was a bit concerned because the other review mentioned a delay in the chimes sounding. I am happy to report that the clicker I received worked as promised, no delay to hear the tone for either the click or the chimes. The click is a little quiet but I am used to using a box clicker.

The instructions for inserting the batteries are non-existent and remember to turn it on before you try it out. The on/off button is fairly small on the right side next to the green button.

The lanyard has a quick connect attachment so you can wear it around your neck and then pop the clicker off of the lanyard when you want to use it. This should help keep it from getting lost.

All in all I think it will be quite handy!

PetSafe Deluxe Bark Collar

So far this seems to be working well. If I have any quibble, it is the nylon the collar is made out of is really cheap.

This and the indoor radio fence are keeping my counter surfing pup out of the kitchen. I had to turn it up the 2nd intensity level for her to react to it at all. Now, she hears the warning noise and if she stays too long her tail tucks and the leaves the room.
