This xtra large size pad provides more complete coverage and, hence, better protection for my hardwood floor against 'spillage' as well as poor aim! While thin, these pads can hold a significant amount of liquid. And this is a fantastic price. I just returned from Pet Supplies Plus where these exact pads were selling for more than $42 for one package of 50 pads so this is definitely a phenomenal buy.

I must admit to having been very happy with another brand's xtra large training pads. But Amazon stopped carrying them, and offered Simple Solutions instead. When I finally gave in and ordered, we decided to test the two pads together(the other one was OUT!).

Simple Solutions really IS better! We put both brands side by side, then judged the results, and Simple Solutions won "hands down." They're much less messy because they absorb better,so they last longer -and the dog didn't seem to see any difference between the two brands.

Using training pads is great when training puppies, but if you have a fondness for toy dogs, they can also help your adults. The colors are great and I love the collars but the handle that everyone is raving about on the leash frayed in just a couple weeks. Kinda dissapointing.

I got one of these for my first dog and liked it so much got one for my second dog as well. The Red Dingo brand is by far the finest quality I've seen in nylon dog collars ,harnesses, and leashes. This leash has padding in the handle which makes walking the dog so much more comfortable. It aslo is adjustable to size which is nice when you want your dog close, or you feel like letting them roam a few more feet away from you. I highly recommend this product!

Also not that the picture for the purple leash looks pink... it's not pink. It's a true purple like the other products mentioned above. I knew this when I ordered because I view better product photos on Red Dingos website.

I have this leash in two sizes (for my two dogs) and I love the soft handle and the fact that it adjusts. The short length is perfect for jogging in a crowded area and the longer length is great for a "go sniff" walk. My only complaint is that the handle is starting to fray and it seems like this is a fairly common complaint.

Holt Walking Headcollar - Size 2 in Black

I gave the Halti head collar three stars because it was recommended to me by a trainer and because it did work. Our beagle is a timid dog, which led to some aggression caused by fear and by her being uncertain of her status. The Halti mimics the pressure that mother dogs put on puppies' snouts to discipline them and also makes it difficult for the dog to pull.

Molly's behavior was greatly changed on walks. In fact, it changed so much that it was sad. She walked solemnly and joylessly, looking neither to the left or the right. She hated the Halti, and we had to chase her down to get her to let us put it on. Even though it has been a year since we stopped using it, we still have trouble sometimes getting her to come when she thinks we are going for a walk.

Most discussions of the Halti emphasize that it may take a while for your dog to grow accustomed to it. Molly never did. In fact, we owned two because she chewed the first one up. Maybe it was just normal chewing, or maybe she was sending us a message!

Bought this after a friend suggested it. My dogs hated it at first. Still can't get one of them to wear it and it takes a lot of time a patience to get them used to it. We don't even use them anymore, it got to be a bit of a hastle. We got training leashes and they seem to be doing a much better job. The sizing.......you might want to get a size smaller than you think you should get. They do seem to run a little big. Not a bad product if you have a laid back dog.

I won't rant and rave about the benefits and drawbacks of using a headcollar each dog is different and responds differently to various training tools, and I'm assuming that you've found this product based off your own research and recommendations from trainers and friends.

The hard part is deciding which headcollar type to use. In the past decade, I've used several different headcollars, including the Halti, the Gentle Leader, the Petmate AKC Headcollar, and the Holt. In my opinion, the Holt is the sturdiest, most comfortable, and most flexible headcollar of the whole bunch, and is a worthy successor to my previous favorite, the Halti.

The Halti was, previously, the best halter for a very simple reason: it had side-straps on either side of the dog's face that prevented the noseband from riding up a dog's face and digging into the dog's eyes. It also worked without cinching the dog's mouth shut, like the Gentle Leader. However, the noseband was not padded, and while I made my own homemade padding for the noseband, it was at least very wide to prevent the material from biting into the dog's skin (unlike the Gentle Leader). The Halti generally came only in black, though colors could be found online. The Halti, despite being designed to function loose (and allowing a dog the full use of its mouth), often made your dog look "vicious" by wearing a "muzzle", particularly in the black color. Prior to the holt, this was the most comfortable.

HALTI PROS: comfort, looseness, prevents noseband from riding up, safety buckle connects to collar

HALTI CONS: limited colors, no padded noseband, can not be cinched tight for short-nose breeds

Gentle Leader Head Collar, Size: Small, Color: Royal Blue

The Gentle Leader, however, was the choice for short-nosed breeds. The Halti suffered when a shorter-snouted dog pawed at the noseband to remove it. The Gentle Leader's design cinched the dog's mouth closed with a locking mechanism, allowing it to be used snugly on short-nosed breeds. For standard-shaped noses, the cinching could be kept more loose to allow for more comfort. It did not have the side straps like the Halti, so it could ride up into the dog's eyes. The noseband was narrow and not padded (unless you shell out extra $ for the premium version not found in stores), so it bit into the dog's skin at the top of the nose. However, it came in multiple colors which helped it look less like a muzzle.

Petmate 3/4-Inch by 16-24-Inch Medium AKC Padded Dog Halter, Brown

New to the game was the Petmate AKC-branded headcollar. This came in many colors and was pre-fitted with a fleece padded noseband. The noseband color is always brown, and there are additional options for colors of the straps. This headcollar looked the least like a muzzle. However, the locking mechanism was not sturdy and would often slide, allowing dogs (even long-nosed breeds) to paw the noseband off their face. It also did not come with a safety strap to connect the headcollar to a dog's normal buckle collar (though one could be homemade very easily). It also buckles underneath the neck, rather than on the side of the face.

PETMATE AKC CONS: loose & slide-able lock, no safety strap to connect to collar

Now, onto the Holt. The Holt is identical to the Halti except for two key features: a "camlock" and a foam-padded noseband. The camlock is a very tight locking mechanism that does NOT budge when the dog paws at the noseband. It is a great tool to keep the headcollar ON your dog. For short-nosed breeds, the camlock can be set tight and will stay in place. It has the same great features of the halti to prevent the noseband from riding up into the eyes, and the safety strap to connect the headcollar to a buckle collar. In addition, the noseband is padded with black foam material, not fleece, and is extremely soft and comfortable. It is sewn on the underside of the headcollar, and does not interrupt the color (can not be seen while the dog is wearing the headcollar). The Holt comes in a variety of colors, including red, pink, and blue.

HOLT PROS: extremely comfortable, foam padded noseband, noseband doesn't ride up into eyes, camlock keeps noseband in place even with short-nosed breeds, multiple colors

If you are considering a headcollar to train your dog, I highly recommend the Holt for all breeds. It is a worthy successor to the Halti and addresses the cons of that headcollar.

This is a great product. My jack russel likes to run off and with this collar I can sound an alarm that helps me track her. This way I can know where she is and then correct her for running off. I had to modify the collar to fit a harness so she wouldn't slip out of it. The collar is actualy too big for my dog, but with the modification it works great. I don't have to use the stimulation hardly ever. She knows to behave when I put on the collar. She seems to be more obedient when she's not wearing it too.

I am happy with my purchase, the locator alone is enough for my dog and I to continue staying within 10-15yds during training and in the field for birds.

My one "compliant" which is more a knock on myself than this particular product, but I thought a vibration warning mode was included in this model. It appears that since I ordered the locator version, I lost that vibrate warning for the dog. My own fault, but as mentioned above, pushing the locator button is sufficient enough of a warning my dog is straying too far off.

Great battery life.

Lastly, it is also good for taking with to neighbor's houses also. My dog (Nico) stays close without a leash, very convenient and useful even in everyday.

I have an 80lb dog that usually walks right by my side. Sometimesshe pulls so i thought I would try the leash as i have a rotor cuff tear. The leash is way too long. I have had a problem with my German shepherd pulling and the leash gives her more room and it stretches to allow her to reAch. It does snap her back but not til she's at a good length. I think I needed to get a shorter leash but the weight description said I needed the one I ordered.

I upgraded to this collar because the petsafe collar did not hold up to it's end of the bargain( the petsafe collar is now a 130 dollar paper weight.) This is the second Sport Dog collar I have purchased, the previous model worked great for years, and had a goood range, and this model has better battery longevity, and supurb range, along with more features. always a great buy, just remeber the trining is an essencial part of sucess with this collar. I have used this on a my male black lab that I should have named Houdini or Rover. Well to make a long story short he is a bonifide explorer;a social butterfly. Add to that he can climb chain link fences and has super dog vision to find an open gate or hole under the fence and you will realize that I HAD a problem. We live in a townhouse, so we can't see our front door. Our poor pup would sit at the bottom of the stairs waiting to go out, but we would never know it. I didn't want her to bark to let me know I do not like dogs that bark a lot.

So we tried these and they work great! It only took about 2 times to train my lab to ring the bells if she wanted to go out. Now, even if I'm cooking in the kitchen with the TV on, I can still hear her jingle the bells!

Word to the wise though, be sure you are getting the REAL Poochie Bells (they will have a little bone shaped tag near the top). The brand name Poochie Bells have very sturdy and LOUD jingle bells. I tried to save a few bucks by getting a cheaper knock-off on ebay for our cabin, and the bells are smaller and cheap and do not ring nearly as loudly. I ended up getting the real Poochie Bells and tossing the knock-off into the trash.

I realized that my puppy did not have a way to tell me he needed to go. He would come over to me and I thought he just wanted scratched and the next thing you know he had an accident. Now he rings the bell and I know he has to go out and we no longer have accidents. It was an easy thing to teach him too, everytime we went out we rung the bell and he eventually caught on and it only took a couple of days, our other dog started using it too.

Mixed success with this product. Threemonth-old puppy played with it at first, but soon learned to ring bells to go out. Then he learned to ring bells whenever he wanted me to give attention. Probably thinking "It's about time she got a call system so I don't have to whine and howl when she leaves the room".

Also, I bought 2 large bells at a craft store for $2.50 and strung together for the porch door, which works as well. I am still using it, but the sound isn't necessarily a potty call!

This way, he rings the bell and let's everyone know he has to do his business without ruining the door and it works perfectly!! I purchased this muzzle to use on an English Mastiff foster dog. I have two cats and this dog had never been introduced to cats before. I worked in the pet industry for over ten years, and have seen and tried nearly every style and brand out there. I have a clear idea of what I want in a collar.

I know most people don't have a problem most of the time with the snap style fasteners, but I just don't trust them--so I always look for metal buckles. I prefer to avoid D rings, especially if that is the only place for tag and leash connection.

Halti Dog Training Head Collar

I ordered this from England because it's hard to find different sizes and colors from US vendors. It took a long time to get here, but I expected that since it had to cross the pond. For the first few days it was great my puppy didn't pull and was much easier to control. But, now the nose strap has come apart and we're again left with a standard neck-only collar. I think I'll try to sew the Halti back together, but I'm really disappointed that it didn't hold up well at all.

I will swear by this! I have a VERY mentally head strong and strong pulling lab/golden mix that is 50 lbs and drags me around like a rag doll, even after walk training classes. She likes to be the front of the pack and likes to just sniff and investigate everything she can. She loves to run where shes going and not walk but the first time I tried the Halti on her she WALKED with me by my side and not only that but she didnt leave me out of breath from trying to struggle from her pulling. Walks with her had become a nightmare for my husband and I but now they arent! I bought the size 3 for my 80 lb lab and it fits well. She use to drag me around the neighborhood and I dreaded our daily walks. After comparing several head collars I decided on the Halti because of the padding on the nose part and the safety mechanism that allows you to attach it to the dog's regular collar--in case your dog manages to get the Halti off. The Halti is an excellent product. My dog no longer pulls and walks nicely. I'm looking forward to longer walks when the weather gets warmer. The product comes with a pamphlet that teaches you how to get your dog use to wearing the collar by rewarding the behavior with treats. It was simple to follow and within 15 minutes my dog had no problem with wearing it. I highly recommend this especially for those with large dogs.

We've experienced nothing but success with Halti products over the years, using them on multiple dogs in our household. Follow the instructions in the package, and be patient... dogs don't like things attached to their heads or faces, but with gentle guidance and a supply of desirable treats, they will accept the Halti, fairly quickly.

Placing the Halti on the dog is similar to bridling a horse; the desire to lead the dog by the head is the same as leading a horse. Your dog will most likely paw at the bridle, trying to remove it... don't let him/her do this.... it seems once successful, they manage to do it more quickly the next time.

My biggest suggestion would be to rinse the Halti after every use, particularly if your dog drools excessively. The bridle fabric will absorb the saliva, and eventually this will cause rot and premature product failure. Simply rinse thoroughly in cold water and drip dry.

Our most recent purchase was a gift for a relative with a rambunctious large dog... a golden retriever that is difficult to control and walk for an older woman. So far, she's reported success with this item, after a bit of training. Hopefully this will prevent her dog from pulling on the leash, potentially causing her to fall and become injured.

I bought the Halti hoping to stop my Siberian Husky/Malamute from biting the leash and walking me. He HATES the Halti and spends his entire walk trying to pull it off of his face.
