If you are taking your pet on an airline, this is the only pet crate we could find that was truly "Airline Approved".

Most airlines require a plastic kennel that's bolted together with plastic or metal treaded screws (knob, clamp and clamshell locks are strictly forbidden on almost every airline), not top loading, allow for at least 1.5" of clearance from the sides on all sides, and vented on four sides.

This crate met all but one. The back of the carrier is not vented, but we solved that problem with a power drill and a 1/2" bit. 27 holes later and you have a truly airline approved pet crate.

I got this kennel beacause on the product description says that this kennel has rear vents that it is require by the airline I'm using to transport my dog but when I got the kennel delivery to my home I got with the surprise that it didn't have any rear vents like it says on the product description, of course I'm not very happy because this is a product that you buy according to the airline regulations and expend a lot of time looking for the one to fit with all these airline regulations that this product claim to have like the rear vents but it didn't,and now I don't have time to send it back and wait for amazon to send me another one with the rear vents like it says on their product description because I have to travel in a few days only.

I have order other products with amazon and i have always been very satisfied with their productcs and their service but this was my most important purchase because of all these airlines regulations and the lock of time and I couldn't believe this dog kennel didn't have the rear vents like it says on the product descriptions.

I breed and raise Great Danes, and this kennel is a wonderful addition to the house. It is big enough for a teenager, and makes them feel secure and safe. Much easier to clean than the wire ones, and you can travel with your giant dog on some airplanes. Too large for any but the biggest planes. But if you work to find an aircraft large enough to accomodate the mammoth size, you can take your friend where ever you go in this crate.

My seven year old lab has escaped from metal dog boxes and pretty much anything we have put him in for any length of time. This crate is the only crate he has not been able to escape from because of the twist lock on the door. I have used this crate with him for 6 years. I also use it for my three other dogs. Although this crate may be seen as being more suitable for a medium sized dog, our small dog much prefers it to the smaller crate. She has enough room to be comfortable and turn around without difficulty but not enough to allow her to soil her sleeping area. She has no difficulty walking in there now when it's time for a nap or when we need some time to do chores where we can't watch her as much as we need to. It works well as a transport crate and makes her feel secure and comfortable when she's in the car. An all around good product.

I do use these treats for my own dogs but mostly I use them for the shelter dogs I work with. These treats are a perfect size and have a nice strong smell. I love that they are high value treats for the dogs but are not super messy for me to work with or carry. I can fit plenty of them in any of my treat bags and the bag they come in has a nice zip top to keep them fresh. They will turn into hard little rocks if you let them get stale but that hasn't stopped my dogs from begging for them when I empty out my training pouch.

We bought this very blue blooded registered Doberman puppy a little over a year ago. I have taken courses on teaching dogs obedience and have routinely taught German Shepherds their manners but this dog became a nightmare. I have never seen a dog get their mind so focused on one thing and totally ignore everything else even the Alpha master calling this was to the point of danger here on the farm as he was wanting to even start chasing the cows and calves and would not call off or come to us. He was even trying to become the alpha male of the pack and causing problems with full grown German Shepherd so we had to do something fast!! I was amazed at how quick this collar solved our problems. We let him wear it about a day and half without using it and then set the shock level as instructions said. In a matter of minutes he was coming when called and coming in the house when told. We mainly use the warning beep and vibration with very, very limited use of the static charge. I have used choke chains routinely for years but never had the response this collar gave on a dog that knew to come (did it in the house) but was hard headed and refusing outside. Must be used properly as all training aids, do some research and reading but well worth the money. I have the dog I wanted now and hope in just a few weeks we can take it off of him! I just wish I had bought months ago when he started this hard hardheadedness. This unit has plenty of range for the farm and buying the submersible model probably paid off with the flooding and rains this past few days. We are also using the StarMark clicker unit with the warning beep to be able to wean him off the collar in a few weeks, this seems to be working also. Again, my only regret is not paying the money and buying months ago!!

It stopped working (started beeping nonstop) when my dog went into the lake but seemed to work just fine after a few days.

This product works very well, and has proved to be truly waterproof. The vibrate is pretty useless for my dogs, but the tone and shock work well. My only complaint is the vagueness of the instructions, particularly concerning charging the collars. I have the collars on about 12 hours per daywhat works for me is to charge every other day for 1-2 hours. I try not to let it go overnight, as some batteries are damaged by overchargingwould these be? I don't know, because of the exceedingly brief treatment in the "manual." Another suggestion would be to have a 9-volt replacement battery on hand for the transmitter, as the battery that came in the unit stopped working after a few weeks. This could potentially put you in a tight spot.

A Beagle as are many dogs has it sense of scent over power their response to commands. The dogs name is Freeway. He was named that by the shelter folks. He either Jumped out or was thrown out of a car on a freeway. He had a broken leg when my daughter saw him at the shelter. Someones else loss was our gain. He was House broke and listens well inside. But if he is outside and not on a cable or leash he takes Off....following his nose. We tried playing ball outside once without this collar. Big mistake. We had to case him about 4 houses in a country plat. so about 2 /10ths of a mile. next time we had him out he listened for about a minute then saw or smelled something. We tried beep and vibrate. He then got out of sight I told my son to hit the shock. He Yelped and then he came back home. We only go out to play with his collar on at this point.

I love this leash.

Form My dog's name is Daisy and most of her stuff is purple, so the Daisy Chain design was a good match for us. The designers choose dark enough colors so it will last a few years of rough dog fun without looking worn.

Function Really comfortable handle. Super strong and thick material, but never feels too heavy. I assume if your dog is a hardcore chewer, he could get through this, but it should take him twice as long. I cant see any of the components breaking with normal dog use and it is machine washable.

The adjustable length is awesome. I have very rarely adjusted it, but have taken the advice of other red dingo users and have adjusted the length to be about 5 feet. That leaves a loop by her neck that I use like a traffic lead when I need her to stay close to me.

If I were to make a criticism I would merely say I wish the was a loop or ring someplace I could hang the dog bag dispenser. I have it on the handle, but it moves around and can get in the way. Obviously not a big deal.

Dental Dog Treat

this are hard to find in the store so we buy them often here.. they are one of the few kong treats that work for the 2xl kong... we have the largest size due to the size of our german shepard and she still can get the treats with ease but they work the best compared to any other product out there that we have found...

These are my 3 year old wire fox terrier's favorite treats of all, and he's a picky little guy. He's not a big fan of even smoked, flavored rawhides, and sometimes may even turn his nose up at a smoked pig ear (though that is rare and usually just when he's pouting). These he NEVER turns down, and he goes absolutely berserk when I open the pack and he smells aroma wafting down. And they do have a fairly strong, though not unpleasant odor fairly citrusy. That's not too surprising, because these treats are full of vitamin C, which according to the packaging is important for canine dental health (I assume lack of vitamin C in a dog's diet can cause a similar condition to scurvy). Since Vitamin C is a non water soluble vitamin, it is important not to overdose your dog (water soluble vitamins like B vitamins are nearly impossible to overdose on because you/your dog will just pee excess vitamin out, but with non water soluble vitamins like vitamin C, it can accumulate in the body and, in excess, cause harm), so stick to the recommended daily "dose" on the packaging. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to neatly break them into smaller pieces (I don't even bother), so these are not ideal training treats.

As for how long these treats last, I think that depends on your dog's breed and your individual dog. They are each rather dense and heavy. My little wire fox tends to demolish things pretty quickly he consumes a large smoked pig ear in less than five minutes, he once ripped a plank of wood off the side of the garage while trying to get to a groundhog, etc, and these treats last him about 30 seconds. One thing that I found interesting about these treats in particular is that, though he seems to love the flavor, he also seems compelled to drink a healthy several gulps from his water bowl after finishing one. Surely enough, the packaging says to make sure your pet has access to water when given these treats. So, two things I think are important to mention: don't overfeed these treats to your pet, and make sure your pet has access to water. The package says max 2 treats per day; he's a little guy so I just give him one.

As far as his breath is concerned, I haven't really noticed any change, perhaps it has an added citrus scent for a few minutes after he finishes the treat, but that's it. I don't think these are breath-freshening so much as they supply the dog important nutrients for his/her oral health, but perhaps some people like the added citrus scent to their pet's breath. They're not a substitute for tooth brushing (or using a brushless tooth cleaner), but they do make an excellent treat!

So, in summary: wonderful treat that dogs love, not great for training because it can't be broken down, contains vitamin C for oral health so you don't want to give your dog too many in one day, and very mildly freshens breath for a few minutes, and takes a 25 pound terrier about 30 seconds to consume, so it is something of a cross between a nutritious treat and a short-lived toy.

Coastal Holt Dog Walking Collar

I'm not easily impressed, especially with dog training gadgets, but this definitely impressed me. We recently rescued a 2 year old pit bull, weighing a skinny 65 pounds. He loves to run after anything that moves (dogs, cats, chickens, deer, etc), and will nearly pull me across the field when he gets a bead on something. Once he gains some more weight, I will not be able to hold him back if he decides to go after something. I bought the Halti (size 3) to try. WOW!!! Fortunately, he didn't fuss too much about it being on his muzzle he pawed at it a little, but I distracted him with a treat. Took him for a walk and he immediately learned that if he pulls, it tightens around his snout and it pulls his head towards me, whereas if he walks without pulling, it's very comfortable. He walked so good the first time, that I took him near the chicken pen just to test it out. As soon as he lunged, the Halti did what it's designed to do. He immediately quit lunging and walked obediently. I'm still amazed at how easily and quickly this worked.

I was so impressed that I went to buy one for my other dog (a pit bull mix, about 55 pounds, loves to pull while walking). They were out of the size that I needed, so I bought the more expensive Gentle Leader instead. She did not like it at all. Where the Halti is not snug on the muzzle unless the dog pulls, the GL has to be somewhat snug just due to its design. I did not like how the GL seemed to pass right under her eye sockets. I will be taking it back and getting the Halti.

The other feature that I liked about the Halti is that it has a semi-muzzle function to it. As the dog lunges forward, the band around the snout tightens making it difficult for the dog to open its mouth. The GL doesn't do this at all. The Halti is designed more like a horse halter and fits the larger, longer snouts of dogs exceptionally well. It does not cut up under the eye like the GL. (I can see where the GL might work better on squishy-faced dogs.)

I won't rant and rave about the benefits and drawbacks of using a headcollar each dog is different and responds differently to various training tools, and I'm assuming that you've found this product based off your own research and recommendations from trainers and friends.

The hard part is deciding which headcollar type to use. In the past decade, I've used several different headcollars, including the Halti, the Gentle Leader, the Petmate AKC Headcollar, and the Holt. In my opinion, the Holt is the sturdiest, most comfortable, and most flexible headcollar of the whole bunch, and is a worthy successor to my previous favorite, the Halti.

The Halti was, previously, the best halter for a very simple reason: it had side-straps on either side of the dog's face that prevented the noseband from riding up a dog's face and digging into the dog's eyes. It also worked without cinching the dog's mouth shut, like the Gentle Leader. However, the noseband was not padded, and while I made my own homemade padding for the noseband, it was at least very wide to prevent the material from biting into the dog's skin (unlike the Gentle Leader). The Halti generally came only in black, though colors could be found online. The Halti, despite being designed to function loose (and allowing a dog the full use of its mouth), often made your dog look "vicious" by wearing a "muzzle", particularly in the black color. Prior to the holt, this was the most comfortable.

HALTI PROS: comfort, looseness, prevents noseband from riding up, safety buckle connects to collar

HALTI CONS: limited colors, no padded noseband, can not be cinched tight for short-nose breeds

Gentle Leader Head Collar, Size: Small, Color: Royal Blue

The Gentle Leader, however, was the choice for short-nosed breeds. The Halti suffered when a shorter-snouted dog pawed at the noseband to remove it. The Gentle Leader's design cinched the dog's mouth closed with a locking mechanism, allowing it to be used snugly on short-nosed breeds. For standard-shaped noses, the cinching could be kept more loose to allow for more comfort. It did not have the side straps like the Halti, so it could ride up into the dog's eyes. The noseband was narrow and not padded (unless you shell out extra $ for the premium version not found in stores), so it bit into the dog's skin at the top of the nose. However, it came in multiple colors which helped it look less like a muzzle.

Petmate 3/4-Inch by 16-24-Inch Medium AKC Padded Dog Halter, Brown

New to the game was the Petmate AKC-branded headcollar. This came in many colors and was pre-fitted with a fleece padded noseband. The noseband color is always brown, and there are additional options for colors of the straps. This headcollar looked the least like a muzzle. However, the locking mechanism was not sturdy and would often slide, allowing dogs (even long-nosed breeds) to paw the noseband off their face. It also did not come with a safety strap to connect the headcollar to a dog's normal buckle collar (though one could be homemade very easily). It also buckles underneath the neck, rather than on the side of the face.

Now, onto the Holt. The Holt is identical to the Halti except for two key features: a "camlock" and a foam-padded noseband. The camlock is a very tight locking mechanism that does NOT budge when the dog paws at the noseband. It is a great tool to keep the headcollar ON your dog. For short-nosed breeds, the camlock can be set tight and will stay in place. It has the same great features of the halti to prevent the noseband from riding up into the eyes, and the safety strap to connect the headcollar to a buckle collar. In addition, the noseband is padded with black foam material, not fleece, and is extremely soft and comfortable. It is sewn on the underside of the headcollar, and does not interrupt the color (can not be seen while the dog is wearing the headcollar). The Holt comes in a variety of colors, including red, pink, and blue.

HOLT PROS: extremely comfortable, foam padded noseband, noseband doesn't ride up into eyes, camlock keeps noseband in place even with short-nosed breeds, multiple colors

HOLT CONS: ???

If you are considering a headcollar to train your dog, I highly recommend the Holt for all breeds. It is a worthy successor to the Halti and addresses the cons of that headcollar.

We have purchased a great many collars, but even the gentle leader, which is a similar product, could not keep our big dogs at heel, but this did. The other reviewers are correct, dogs may chew through it. But that is true of most soft collars, and this is a much better choice than metal chokers. Simply keep an eye on your dog and you should be okay, because when the halti is taught, on walks, it's unbeatable. I rarely write reviews, but it's such a pleasure strolling with it, we thought it was helpful that we share.

We have used the Holt Dog Walking Dog Collar on several dogs who have "pulling" problems when walking and have found it to be very effective. The Holt Collar should only be used when walking and training your dog. It it not meant to be escape proof and should only be used when you are with your dog (i.e. do not tie the dog to a pole and walk away).

The collar has a safety strap that is to be attached to your dog's regular collar to prevent your dog from getting loose if they pull the Holt off their head. It is important to read the manual that comes with the Holt Collar and to fit the collar to the animal correctly. You can view the manual at the manufactures web site.

Several dogs I have used this on did not like it at first (ok they loathed it entirely) but you just need to work with them in steps and they will get used to it.

Unfortanately Holt uses breeds instead of actual dimensions for sizing. Keep in mind that dogs of the same breed can very in size, if your dog is smaller or larger then average you might have to adjust the size up or down accordingly.

The Halti must be correctly sized and unfortunately the sizing info to determine the correct size is poor. The Holt sizing chart is based on breeds and didn't work for my mutt. Way too big. Why don't they provide the sizing info based on the circumference of the muzzle and neck?

I bought this for my German Shepherd who is already trained but I needed something to help with obedience during distractions. The product works as advertised but can be a little annoying shutting off automatically every few minutes. to save battery usage. Also if you have a dog with long hair even with the long prongs that come with it you need to really make sure you put the collar on snug and adjust it so you know the prongs are touching the neck otherwise it will not work.

This is okay to teach my dog with i never use shock on her viberate works fine. the only thing I see wrong with this is you cant turn it off at collar.

When the product works, it works fine. But there is no on/off switch on the collar part, so the batteries don't last very long. Also you have to keep taking it apart to remove the batteries then put them back in to re-activate the connection from the hand held control to the collar. Does not keep a signal connection. So you DON'T KNOW when it will work or not.

My dog does respect it enough now that all she needs to see is the hand held control, and she behaves.

If I would have known it was coming from China, I would have not ordered it.

UPDATE:

I have been in contact with the seller several times since I wrote the review. They have been very accommodating to my issue. After they realized there was nothing they could do about my situation, they decided to give me a complete refund. And do to the expense of return postage, they said just keep the merchandise and they would return my funds.

As for the product, I am not impressed, but as for the support and communications between them and their customers, I give them 5 stars. If they had something else I was interested in, I would not hesitate purchasing from them.

Sanitary Pants

I just received this for my Corgi. She can move in it just fine and doesn't seem bothered by it at all. I had no clue which size to order since I couldn't find any info here or even on the manufacturer's site. Luckily I got the correct size. If anyone else is thinking about buying this, the sizing guide on the back of the box says the following:

X-SM. 3-7 lbs., SM. 8-14 lbs., MED. 15-27 lbs., LARGE 28-50 lbs., X-LARGE 50 lbs. and over.

The product is not really what i would have bought had i actually seen in . It functions but it is a cheap vynle material and looks kind of Trashy. Only thing good about it , is that you can rinse it off and it does not hold a smell. I bought another type that was fabric and has been a much better product. Althougth it has to be washed in a washing machine. Overall the fabric Pants are by far a better quality .

I have used these "panties" on 3 German Shepherds for at least 15 yrs, and Cairn Terriers before that. They have lasted forever. FINALLY after 15 yrs, the plastic tore where the snap is. WELL worth the money!! My dogs have not found them uncomfortable like most of the pants you find. I just tell them they have to get their "Big Girl Panties" on when they come in and they just stand there and wait for their treat :) I use regular human maxi pads with wings to put inside. Per the advice of the pet store expert, I bought regular human pantie liners and cut them down to go inside. This garment was the smallest and most discrete, yet we never had any problems. Puppy did not object to it and comes readily to me when I am holding it, as long as she gets her treat! Rinses easily. I am on Amazon to buy a backup so I can have a fresh garment prepped and waiting for her when we return from walks.

KONG E-Collar for Dogs

My 12.5 year old Dobie must wear an Elizabethan collar ... otherwise she'll continue to lick and lick at her hindquarter. The licking causes serious skin aggravation resulting in the need for antibiotics. This e-collar is quite successful at preventing our dog from getting at the problem area on her hindquarter. She is very rough on the collar, bumping into things as she goes and it has numerous tears in it which I've patched with packing tape. Other than the tearing, the dog has entirely accepted the collar. I just thought that, as it is a Kong product, it would be more heavy duty and durable.

I have a large lab and the XL collar fit his big neck just fine. However it was way too short in the length (didn't even reach his nose) and he was able to reach almost everywhere on his body without any problems. I bought this because one of his front toenails broke off and he kept licking it getting it infected. The snaps would come undone anytime he bumped into a wall which made this perfectly useless. I would nor recomment this collar unless your dog has a very short nose.

I got the collar for my cat who has ear problems. The collar has worked great for keeping him from getting at his ears and they are finally healing. He hated the collar at the beginning but has adjusted to it. The adjustable clips are geat they keep it sucured and my cat has only escaped it once. The padded end help from keeping his neck from any sores but he has lost his fur around his neck. If you have need for a collar then i would suggest this one its flexible and well made easy to clean and does what it should

My Irish Setter has a hot spot problem. I have used the traditional E-collar on her for years. I decided to use a product where she could see through the sides, and would be softer than the traditional collar. The collar was so short from neck to snout that she could easily reach her hot spot. Actually, that would have happened if I could have put it on her! However, that did not happen. She has been trained for bird hunting and the sound of the snaps was intolerable to her. I tried to mail it back to the seller, but the cost of postage was greater than the cost of the item. There was no return guarantee with the product. I really do not recommend this product. When I use the traditional collar, it is secured with a regular leather dog collar. It slides on easily and she cannot remove it. It also stops her from pilfering slippers, shoes, tissues, etc. when she is wearing it.

Works well enough, The flaw(s)? At first I had a hard time getting the bottom closure to "snap" into place, I realized it was a little easier if you closed the bottom one first, secondly, although they haven't broken I can see these snaps breaking fairly easy, hopefully we will have no need for the collar before that happens. I went straight for the "flaws" here but still highly recommend it, there's just only so much you can say about such a simple item.

I have a 3 1/2 year old Boxer that barks, cries, whines, and howls when I go to work...ALL DAY...I know, I recorded it. I went to Petsmart and picked up this gadget. Brought it home and it the manual correct button. She bolted. She hates the ultrasonic noise that it makes. It reduced the amount of noise that my dog makes but only in a certain area and I don't crate my dog when I'm going to be away for more than 8 hours.

So if I'm just running out for a few hours I stick her in her crate with this right in front of her but if I'm going to work I use it in conjunction with the petsafe electric shock bark collar.

My girlfriends dog does not really notice it if he's otherwise engaged but my dog hates it. Worth the price in my opinion. Best advice is to take it home and try it. Some dogs react to it. Others don't.

Admittedly we have only had it for a few days, but our dogs responded at once. We had trouble for years with them barking when someone was leaving the house (even though other people were still in the house!) or when visitors or delivery people arrived. Every arrival and departure was a major event, noisewise. If one dog started to bark, the other one felt compelled to join in. We tried other measures to control the excessive barking, but to no avail. This device worked instantly. The dogs bark once or twice, CLEARLY hear the sound although we can't, and stop barking immediately. The house has never been so quiet! Our dogs are Pembroke Welsh Corgis, a breed which is known to have sensitive hearing, and when used to herd are trained using whistled commands. I noticed from reading other reviews in which people mentioned their breed of dog that other herding dogs (like German Shepherds) seem more apt to respond, whereas non-herding breeds (like terriers) may be less responsive...no proof, just an impression from my research.

Update on Feb. 22, 2008. This product continues to work well, and our dogs have adjusted to it. Initially they were a little cowed and appeared distressed by what, to them, must be a very unpleasant noise, but they quickly learned that one bark was OK, two was a no-no, and a gentle woof (if they really needed to make a noise, which they occasionally feel they must do as part of their duty to the family) wouldn't set off the alarm. Today it snowed here, and our neighbor plowed our long driveway, which is normally a very noisy affair, dogwise, but there were only a couple of subdued "woofs" as the dogs did their jobs of alerting us to what they perceive to be an intruder on the property and then went back to sleep, rather than continuing to bark until they exhausted themselves, and us. Our house has never been so quiet! I am delighted with this product, and very happy that our dogs have adjusted to it so quickly, and am amazed at how quickly they figured out how to "express themselves" discreetly, when they need to, without going overboard and driving us all crazy! Of course, corgis are pretty intelligent and trainable dogs, and I am as impressed with the breed as I am with the product!

My beagle (13 mo.) cocks her head showing that she hears something with a slight pause in the barking process but does not deter her from barking at a later time. Does nothing for howling and will only go off for loud barks, not smaller barking or any form of whining (even if extremely loud).

i absolutely love this product. my neighbor has four little yippers and my shepard/chow mix was antogonized by the yipping on our side of the fence. I purchased this collar, as one always excited about new technology. I have multiple dogtra bark collars and ecollars as well as tri-tronics. This new collar just doesn't work as well as the YS-300 from Dogtra. Dogs were barking and the stimulation was erratic and unreliable. After trying to love it for a week, I returned it. Not to mention, manual says that batteries will last about 2 weeks. So every two weeks, you will pay to replace batteries OR just get the YS-300 that you can recharge for YEARS. Most of mine are pushing 6-8 years. Sadly, can't recommend this collar.
