This is an excellent price for this item. Bitter Apple does discourage our Havanese puppy from chewing on whatever we spray Bitter Apple on. She had a small wound on the tip of her tail which our vet told us would be difficult to heal because of its placement. He told us that chewing would be bad for the healing. She wanted to chew the spot so we would spray the tail every 12 hours and she stayed off of it. The tail is now healed. We also used it on a screen door that she wanted to chew on and that discouraged chewing as well. In addition she started tearing up the carpet near the tile juncture; spraying worked there, too. We have heard it does not work on some dogs but it was very effective with ours.

My puppy chewed everything! I got this and no more chewing :) I ran out and after a few weeks the chewing began again! I just ordered my second bottle and can not wait till it arrives,

I have a pitbull-mix rescued from the streets of the Bronx who, I'm sure, has lived through hell. She is hyper-energetic and strong even at age 10+. I've always resisted using pronged collars but finally gave in after 8 years of exhausting walks and all kinds of training. The metal pronged collars takes the edge off and allows for a tolerable walk, but this collar is not effective because of the shorter "teeth" and her high pain threshold; however, it does work on my other larger dog who doesn't pull as aggressively, so whether this collar will work for you will depend on the age (younger the better), the nature of your dog, and--for obvious reasons--the thickness of the fur around its neck.

This collar was the best thing for our dogs as well for our arms and shoulders. The pinch collar does not cause any harm to our Husky/Chow or our Rottweiler. It provides a better experience for us during walks and when running with our beautiful dogs. These dogs are known for their powerful pulling capabilities and the collar helps them to control the urge to pull with all their might. I recommend this collar for senior citizens, kids, and handicapped dog walkers. Our dogs love their time out of the house and when they see us get the collars you can see the excitement in their eyes, they don't hide or growl at site of the collar. The steel prong collars need to be replaced by this non abusive dog collar!

I have a dog that pulls and responds to pinching. I tried choke collar but it didn't work, it made her cough in discomfort but she kept pulling. I decided to buy one of these as they are recommended for these types of cases.

The collar fit my dog fine, had to remove two links to make it fit without having too much loose space. The collar worked, when the dog started pulling it instantly responded to the collar and stopped trying to rip my arm off. She walked like an angel for once. I could actually train her to have more efficient walks with me with a bike when I had more control over her. Every time I put the collar on her she immediately brightens up for she knows she is going on a walk again.

The shape of the collar is great, the materials, not so much. It's made of plastic and the pieces that hold it together can snap off eventually. If you are a crafty type you might be able to make a mold out of one link and replace the flimsy bits with better ones. The collar that I bought actually had one broken link as the person who assembled the link used too much force when connecting one of the end links. The design works, the materials don't, and also if you have a large dog I suggest getting the extra link with it as well.

Now I'll get on my soap box about people who haven't tried this type of product and one star rate it because it's "inhumane". No, I would not put this collar on and let you walk me. No I wouldn't put this on my children. Neither would I put my children on a leash, make them poo outside and eat from a cup on the floor. This is an animal, carnivore, pack animal beast that is tamed over thousands of years. They do not have same social structure as humans do, they have no elected leaders or voting rights. When they do not like what another dog in their pack does they pinch it from the neck with their teeth. Mother does that to their pups and their neck has very strong muscles, kind of the type you have in your legs. When they fight, they go for the neck to show the rival they are stronger and get them to the ground. It's as inhumane as blowing bubbles in a fish tank, you wouldn't put your childern in a fish tank, you wouldn't blow bubbles on them while they are there locked inside that glass. This product works, and my dog isn't traumatized by it. She loves it, every time I put it on her she knows we're going on a walk and is clearly happy and looking forward to it.

I bought this at Costco after reading the ingredients only chicken, sweet potato and glycerin. Only later did I see that were made in China. I had given my Standard Poodle 2 of them about two months ago and afterwards she couldn't poop for 3 days, a problem she never had. I thought it MUST have been something else she ate but was concerned so I put the treats away. Three days ago, I thought I was being neurotic and decided to give her 1 treat and see if there were any problems. The next day she didn't poop and by that night a bump was forming next to her anus that clearly made her uncomfortable; by morning it was red and looked awful. I drove her to the vet when it opened. Her anal sac had ruptured. She needed general anesthetic, surgery, and 14 days of antibiotics. I told the vet my theory about the treats; she said that two weeks ago, another dog was brought in after eating the exact same treats. She said that dog died of renal failure. The vet also said that she had bought the same treats for her dog, and her dog was sick afterwards, so she threw them away. I wrote an incident report to Costco and hopefully an investigation will follow. These treats are potentially deadly. For my dog, it made her very very sick. The vet bill was $450. I don't believe there are only three ingredients in these treats.

In the beginning of last week I had two intelligent and loyal Australian Blue Heelers. I gave Kingdom Pets Chicken & Sweet Potato treats to them as a snack. Both dogs, a boy 9 yo and a female 13 yo became very ill from the treats. Choking and vomiting ensued. Then they both drank copius amounts of water. My boy heeler pulled out of it. My female, bless her soul was not as fortunate. She died two days after injesting the treat. I was totally devasted and heart broken. She was such a good friend to me over the years. She will be missed! My advice to others is: stay away from anything that is made in China. I would never recommend these treats to anyone!

The patch itself is fine. Good quality with lettering very clear. And I haven't found anything else that has both the "therapy dog" and "in training" wording. The problem is that the parches just have the "hook" side of velcro on the back. So unless your training vest is made of the "loop" velcro fabric this isn't going to stick. This company sells its own training vest so maybe it attaches to that. I don't want to invest in another vest since my dog will use the Omega Society green vest when he is certified. So my choices are to attach a separate piece of loop to his vest or sew it on. The size needed additonal velcro makes the patch heavy for a light vest. The velcro backing is too thick to sew through so I am going to have to remove the backing and then sew the vinyl patch on. Kind of defeats the purpose.

great stroller. easy open/close. lots of room for my small guy. wish that the opening to the bottom basket was bigger without having to push the backseating portion of the stroller. also, petzip has to work on making the zipper easier AND not having to be dependent on the shade being in use. other than that, my baby is a happy camper, smooth rides and looking forward to going to the craft fairs this holiday season.

This stroller looks incredibly elegant and cute and at the same time it is sturdy. Wheels really absorb the bumps on the road and make my beloved doggie's ride a pleasant one. My two small dogs love the jogger. Each dog weights 14 pounds. To fold and close, you need to unzip the separating zipper on the front window. When you open the stroller and go to zip up the window, it is difficult to line up both parts of the separating zipper. (just like a jacket). The stroller is roomy, and when I take it into stores everyone assumes I have a baby in there sleeping. I put each dog in a harness, and clip the harnesses to the straps on the inside of the stroller. They do not try to get out.

The wheels are hard plastic, and I think they will wear out with time. I am researching to see if spare wheels are available.

The cup holder openings could be a bit bigger.

Overall, my dogs love it and I do too. I can see myself taking the dogs to more places and on longer walks, without them begging to be carried.

Glad I purchased. People we meet on our walks giggle, and then say it's a great idea. Well worth the money, arrived in 1 week.

I bought this jogger because it was competitively priced. I have two 6lb Chihuahua's so I did not need a weight limit above 45lbs. Assembly was a breeze, you just snap on the wheels. I was hesitant because I could not see the print in detail but it is very cute with bones and dog bowls etc. Storage below holds my purse and other dog treats and cup holder for water, keys, treats. The jogger has lots of windows and back opens up for easy access and cleaning. I think the dogs liked that they could see me as we jogged around the lake. I wish the wheels were better, they are plastic and I don't know how they will handle on the sand etc. I suppose better wheels would cost 100 bucks more though...

I want to join the comments stating "Do not buy this item" It only worked one week. The controller is death and my dogs are running free around the farm. Also the caps for the battery get easily lost. We have seven dogs and whithin the first two days at list three battery caps were lost. The attaching/detaching systems is not the best, two collars were temporarily lost by our 6 months old newfoundland puppies, and last but not least one collar simply broke on my Labrador (and he is 10 years old so you can bet he was not running around). I think one star is too much for this item.

4 in 1 Remote Control Shock + Vibrate Dog Training Collar

This is okay to teach my dog with i never use shock on her viberate works fine. the only thing I see wrong with this is you cant turn it off at collar.

When the product works, it works fine. But there is no on/off switch on the collar part, so the batteries don't last very long. Also you have to keep taking it apart to remove the batteries then put them back in to re-activate the connection from the hand held control to the collar. Does not keep a signal connection. So you DON'T KNOW when it will work or not.

My dog does respect it enough now that all she needs to see is the hand held control, and she behaves.

If I would have known it was coming from China, I would have not ordered it.

UPDATE:

I have been in contact with the seller several times since I wrote the review. They have been very accommodating to my issue. After they realized there was nothing they could do about my situation, they decided to give me a complete refund. And do to the expense of return postage, they said just keep the merchandise and they would return my funds.

As for the product, I am not impressed, but as for the support and communications between them and their customers, I give them 5 stars. If they had something else I was interested in, I would not hesitate purchasing from them.

Nature's Miracle Advanced Ultra Absorbent Pads for Pets

These are the most absorbent pads I have used.

I have tried WEE WEE Pads, Little Stinker, Standard Nature's Miracle pads.

Out of all of them, this particular one has the highest absorb-ability and best odor control.

However, it is also the most expensive pad out of all that I have tried.

I don't use these pads as often, so in terms of pricing it is just difference in cents per day on average for me.

For anyone interested or thinking about this. if price does not matter as much to you, and quality is something that you value the most, this is what you want to get.

We do rescue and we begin their potty training with potty pads. All the other brands get filled too quickly. These are the best absorbers around. I get the larger ones, Advanced Utlra. The dogs use them and we replace them and move them closer to the door and bingo, within a week or less a dog is trainned to the outside. We're happy, the dogs happy and this is the first step to their adoption. No one wants a dog that is not house broken.

It is better to try these then to turn a dog into rescue because you can't or won't house break them.

We were placing just regular blue pads outside the litter box and he'd urinate on those, but the smell was overpowering. With these pads, we don't have to change them five or six times a day. (The cats have their own room where their litter boxes are found.) The pad absorbs the smell and prevents the urine from soaking through to the floor. I love them! They're a bit pricey, but we figured out that because we don't use as many, in the end, if we buy in bulk, we're paying only a little more than we would for the larger quantity of regular pads we'd have to buy.

My 12 year old dog recently went blind so she picked a random spot in the house to do her business when we're not home. SportDOG 100-Acre In-Ground Pet Fence System, SDF-100A

I have two medium size mutts. Chase is laid back but loves to run and play and Rufus is a very timid and scared of alot.

First off let me say this make sure the range is adjusted on the box before putting the batteries in the collars. My husband was holding the collar in his hand inside the house (far away from the lines) and got shocked on the 5th level! Ouch! We readjusted the range to two feet from the line and truned the collar down to level 2 after that.I think the range came out of the box set on 40 feet

I took chase out on a leash and let him lead me to the perimiter rather than me taking him over there and tossing a toy or treat across the line like youre instructed too. It only took him 2 times of trying to cross over the fence before he realized that he didnt wanna go anywhere near those flags. He LOVES playing fetch but you better believe if that ball goes NEAR that fence he will NOT even try to go get it! We did have one incident the other day where there was a cat in the back yard and Chase blew through the fence and did not even flench when he was getting shocked! However, ever since then he has been even more reluctant to get close to the fence so I think the level 5 shock hurt him enough that he wont be doing that again (The shock level increases as they cross the perimeter).

Rufus was a different story. I let him lead me to the perimeter just as I did for Chase and once he got shocked he was terrified of his yard. We would lead him around and show him all the places he could go but he would never leave our side. When we would let him out by himself he would not even leave the back porch. We tried for 2 weeks to get him used to it but he never did. I called the company for advice and they instructed me to start over. Here is what the customer service rep informed me to do incase anyone else has this problem. Give him a week or so to get used to being in his yard without the collar on. I put Rufus back on the runner we were using before we installed the fence. After he is comfortable in the yard again put the collar on but dont put batteries in it. After a few days of doing that turn the vibrate only function on and see how he does with that. Once he is comfortable wandering around the yard you can turn the shock back on to the lowest level to correct him if he tries to leave the perimeter.

Another issue we had is that if you lay the line within 3 feet of any wire (telephone,cable,electric,etc) the signal can apparently transmit to that wire and mess up your range. We noticed that sometimes when we would let the dogs out the back door their collars would vibrate like they were nearing the edge of the perimeter. The back door is in almost the very center of the perimeter so we couldn't figure out why this was happening. The customer service rep told us we would need to dig up and move the line further away from the house so this wouldnt happen anymore.

One more thingI apparently misread some information about this fence because I thought the collars continued to shock the dogs when they were outside of the perimeter until they got back inside of it. That is not true though. The collar only shocks them when they are inside of the range you set. So if you set a 2 foot range it will shock them 2 feet before the line and 2 feet behind the line. Once they get out of that zone it will deliver the static charge.

Im sorry this was so long but I understand what a big decision it is so I thought I would give you all the details. Overall I love this fence and have alot of trust in it and my dogs response to it. I would definetly recommend it to anyone looking at this as an option. I hope this was helpful!

Researched in ground fence systems extensively and purchased the SportDog system for my ¾ acre property. Glad I did. Easy to install with quality hardware........unlike other systems I looked at. Purchased primarily for our Lab puppy, but also purchased two smaller compatible collars for our two miniature wiener dogs. It maybe took a day or so for all of our dogs to associate the flags with the boundary. System has multiple settings, so you can set a vibration, beep, then mild shock. I think our dogs were shocked once each. Now, when they get close to the boundary flags, the (non-shocking) vibration is enough to alert them to turn around. $220 is a bargain for the peace of mind in knowing that my dogs will stay in the yard.

I have a Labrador retriever who is about 4 months old and an adult boston terrier. We had trouble with them going to neighbors houses to get petted, or the boston would run after other dogs in the neighborhood. So, we decided to go with this underground fence after extensive research of other brands. I'm very satisfied with our purchasethe installation took about 3-4 hours total.

We installed the fence on approximately 3/4 of an acre. My husband used his tractor and lowered 1 of the 4 plow feet on a box blade attachment to dig the trench around the yard. This was VERY simple and took about 20 minutes. Then we just placed the wire in the trench and buried it, which took about an hour and a half or so. Take note, we had to twist wire back to the box across a spot in our yard so the dogs could run across it without getting shocked. We also had to place it across our driveway, so my husband used a skill saw with a masonry blade to cut a line across it. After laying the wire in the line, we covered it with asphalt patching compound (caulk-like substance). This took about an hour. Then the easy part-placing the flags. This took about 20 minutes.

We used the collar that came with the system for our lab, and then we bought the Petsafe PUL-275 In-Ground Deluxe Ultralight Collar with Radio Receiver for our boston terrier, which is a great fit. It is compatible with this Sportdog system. Our lab caught on VERY quickly. She got shocked about 2 times, and that was enough for her. When she hears the beep now, she runs back into the yard. Our boston on the other hand is a stubborn guy, and he got shocked about 7-8 times before he finally realized "hey, maybe I shouldn't go past those white flags!". They both understand the boundaries now, and we plan to leave the flags up for another month or so to make sure. It's such a relief being able to drive away without them chasing after me. I highly recommend this product if you're looking to contain your dogs.

I have this Sport Dog Unit installed on 3 acres of my property. Each of my four German Shorthairs has a collar and I have never had any issues with them leaving the yard after the first week of installing the underground fence. There are a few main reasons I bought this unit over the many other brands and models out there.

First, the collars by Sport Dog use a 9 volt battery. The batteries seem to last about a year. Many of the other collars on the market use large watch batteries and don't last more than two months.

Second, the sending unit has an adjustable power output. There is a hi low switch and a variable gain dial. This is really important for training and also allows you to adjust the unit for the method you chose to install the wire. For training, you can turn the gain up which will increase the distance, up to about 50 feet, that the beep and shock start from the wire. Once the dogs are used to the concept, you can turn the gain down so it goes off closer to the wire. I have mine set at about 7 or 8 feet. The other more important part of this is for the install. First, if you are going to install this in a large area, greater than one acre, I would not use the wire that comes with the unit. I bought a 2500 foot roll of single strand 12 gauge copper wire for $60.00. I would recommend doing the same as the wire that comes with the unit is very thin and breaks easily. You can install the wire with a shovel or a ditch witch. I put my wire down about 14 inches with a ditch witch. Because of this, my gain is turned up higher as the wire is deeper in the ground. If the wire was 2 inches in the ground like most of the professional fence companies put it then the gain would be turned down for the same effect.

Third, this unit has a very load noise that comes from the unit should the wire break or get damaged. This is nice as things do happen, utility companies, tree roots, corrosion, etc... If you put the main unit in your garage attached to your house you will definitely know if something is wrong with your connection.

If you are looking for an underground fence, this is the best unit available.

I can't recommend this enough. The collar is built like a tank, it vibrates along with beeping before the shock (most just beep), and it takes standard 9 volt batteries. Personally, I didn't want to have to buy special batteries for the other collars, and I didn't want to have to worry about waiting for it to re-charge should it ever run dead. The transmitter in this package will also work with most PetSafe collars, so if you have more dogs for which a smaller collar would be desirable, they are also options (our English Setter doesn't seem to mind the weight of the included collar). We also liked that we were able to mount the receiver for this unit on a collar of our choosing our dog likes cloth collars better, so we're going to move the receiver from the stock plastic/rubber collar to a cloth collar.

We called Invisible Fence and they wanted $300 for the collar, and $300 for the transmitter, and more for the training. We were a bit nervous about training our English Setter by ourselves, but after just one session, it became clear that the pup was going to figure it out very quickly. We started out showing him the boundary for ~5-10 minutes with the collar in vibrate only mode (during which time he mostly ignored it), and after that, we moved on to the instructions that are included with the unit, and set the collar to the lowest shock level (I tried it on my hand not that bad).

After one or two shocks, our dog pretty much got the hang of it. Amazing. We're still planning on following through with the rest of the instructions, but after 20 minutes of training he already knows that beep & vibrate means "turn around".

Super easy to install & set up. I also bought a lightning strike protector separately seems like a good investment, although if you choose to ground the transmitter (I did not), it shouldn't be necessary. Since this transmitter doesn't have a batter backup, I bought an uninterruptible power supply from newegg for $40 should keep it going for a few hours so that we can bring the dog in should the power ever go out.

Total cost of this unit with a few accessories (flags, splices, lightning protector, etc.) was less than $250. Considering that Invisible Fence wanted over $750 for a transmitter (installed), collar, and training (but no wire we already had that), this thing was a steal.

One more note unless you truly have tons of land, although this is a great system, you probably don't need the added range that it offers (although it does work just fine on smaller fences). We have ~12 acres, and I bought it "just to make sure it had enough power", and with ~3 acres fenced (we plan on expanding it), I have it set to about half power in the "low" range. This creates a correction zone about ~25-30 feet wide (we want him to have to go through a lot to escape we live on a 55mph road).

Large Soft Claws for Dogs (Natural, 12mm x 7mm)

I have tried these recently after moving into a house with brand new wood flooring and two dogs. I thought that the soft paws would be the answer to easily keeping my floors looking new for years to come, but after using them for 3 months now I've given up. They are just way more trouble than they are worth.

In theory, it's a great concept. Soft little caps over the nails protect the floor. In reality, they are a hassle. I will say, they'll likely work well for you if you have an inactive indoor dog. They apply fairly easily, but getting the right amount of glue on is rather difficult. If you don't use enough, they'll fall off quickly. If you use too much, they'll never come off and glue will squeeze out the top and glue the dog's hair to the cap (tip: they hate this).

My two dogs are reasonably active, we go for several walks a day with a little on pavement (but mostly on grass). The big problem I've found is that for my dogs, the caps tend to wear through before they fall off. Either that, or they fall off and the dogs scamper around the floor before I notice. My dogs also love to chew at them which doesn't help (bitter spray did not deter them).

So basically, my floors still got scratched up somewhat because the cap would wear away exposing the nail, or the cap would fall off. Because the nails have to be long for these to adhere, when this happens there is a sharp long nail waiting to dig into your floor. In order to combat this I had to inspect their nails multiple times a day which was just a royal pain.

I'm also concerned about whether these are good for the dogs nails. When applied, they tend to make the nail longer and will contact the floor. I think this puts more stress on the dogs nails and isn't as comfortable for them as having the nails trimmed short. Also, when I removed them one of my dogs nails didn't seem to be in very good shape. Some of the nail I could actually peel away with my hands, and when I clipped her nails some sort of semi-soft material oozed out. I'm not an expert, but that doesn't seem like a good thing.

In short, they do work well but I think they are too high maintenance. If you have a passive indoor dog so that wear won't be much of an issue, they may work well. I'd recommend getting a color so you can easily tell if one is missing however. I've decided instead that the cost and hassle isn't worth it and I've ordered a dremel to start filing nails down smooth. With a combination of short nails that are smoothed over, the floors will be fairly well protected and the dogs should be much happier.

Santa brought this for two labs and a yorkie. The labs were great with it and I'd rate it full stars for them. However, the yorkie saved his for later and then choked on his piece while eating it and was unable to pull it out of his mouth on his own. Thankfully his human was nearby and (with difficulty) was able to pull it out. So I recommend it as a treat...but with careful supervision with a small dog.

I have an 11 yr old toy poodle. I purchased a small deluxe potty park. It took her about a week to learn how to use it, at first I thought she was too old to learn something new. I bought the Potty Park in June, back when there were no reviews posted and the only information I could find online was Potty Park's own videos (or those they pay advertisers to do). Looked like a great product. And even though I have an adult dog, the training video made me confident that we could get him using the thing very easily.

First, the product that arrived was cheap looking and feeling, and the grass is NOT real looking at all. It looks more like carpet than grass, if anything.

I did everything the training video called for, and after four weeks, had only a very unhappy dog and even more unhappy owners. I tried everything, including spraying the pheromone spray on it, to no avail.

When it became obvious that it was time to cash in on the 30-day "100% Satisfaction Guarantee", I called the company's phone number. Customer Service only went to a voice mail. I left a message and waited for a call back. The next day, after no return phone call, I called and left another message. This happened over and over again for a week, with increasingly frustrated messages from me. The fourth day, I used the dial-by-name option and left a message for the President of the company, thinking that at least that would get me somewhere. But, no response. Finally that Friday, fearing that I would miss the 30 day window, I called back and hit the extension for Sales. Guess what someone answered right away! The sales guy seemed to be very helpful and assured me that the Customer Service person had been traveling and would return my call when she was back. This was frustrating because 1)Her outgoing voice message said nothing about being out of the office, and 2)They didn't have someone else answering the phone.

The following week, I finally got a hold of the customer service person. She told me that the Potty Park could only be returned if the unit hadn't been urinated on, or if we haven't used the pheromone spray.

If we HAVEN'T USED the pheromone spray! I told her, of COURSE we used the pheromone spray, because that is part of the training.

It's a bit of a paradox, isn't it? They give you this training program, saying, don't worry, you can always return it, but the very training program makes the product ineligible for return.

As another reviewer pointed out, even if we could return it, they charge a 20% restocking fee (Couldn't that $40 go toward replacing the turf, since I used the spray?). I'm not as upset with having to pay for shipping, since that's standard, but a 20% restocking fee on what is supposed to be a GUARANTEE?? I don't think so!

So now I'm out $200, and the dog still isn't using the thing. I might try again, but I will likely just post the thing for sale on Craigslist. Maybe someone with a puppy will have better luck.

My dog is a bit stubborn but still..... I bought the Potty Park about a month ago from their direct website (at the time it wasnt on amazon). At the beginnning I put the pheromone spray thing to attract her to go potty there, well that didn't work I did that for like a week. I'm still taking her everyday to the potty park with the leach on and give her the cue to pi and poo there... Potty Park gives you a 30 day trial, but be careful! you can return it if it didn't work for you and your dog and that they didn't pi or poo on it either(They pass returned potty parks through a black light to assure that your dog didnt pi or poo on it, this is on their website in the detailed part) If they find something they send it back to you and you have to pay for that shipping too. They also charge a restocking fee of 20%! and you dont get your shipping back either... Since to me that's a lot of money lost I decided to keep it and keep trying. I saw a video yesterday on youtube suggesting to put the dog in a crate and take him out only to use the potty on the potty park and then put him back in the crate until she learns to potty there.. Im going to try this next (just need to get a crate). I will give an update on how this works. I have strong hopes she will learn to use it soon....

2) It is not a Bark Terminator III, it is a knock off, but it works.

3) The instruction refer three times to a diagram, there is none.

6) The electorids looked very large, but once I put it on my dog, it made sense. It fits on both sides of the front of the throat.

Recommend starting out on a low setting and dialling it up. I started on a medium, and had an instance when she was howling at a passing siren. And got caught in a yelp and sock cycle. Just need to dial it down and sit with her to calm her down.

This was an isolated instance, and I still like the product.

Great for the first 2 days then worthless (Dead) there after. I had read the one review on this product and it was a good review so I was really hoping it would be the same experience for my dog and I but in the end I paid almost $10 for 48 hours of a working product. We are now going to have to invest in a more upper end training collar for our Chloe. We bought this kennel to hold our Great Dane mix due to his semi-destructive nature when we leave the house. We kennel him when we leave, and give him a treat and toys to keep him entertained. This particular kennel worked for a few months before we ran into serious problems.

The kennel is made of a metal mesh, which is lightly welded together. The base is a hard plastic, so we added a dog bed to keep him comfortable. Everything seemed nice initially, but a few months after we purchased this we came home to find our dog loose, and a rug torn up. We looked at the kennel, and he had snapped one of the door locking bolts, and squeezed through the door. Looking close, the crate had already become rusty (I assume from moisture in the air?) and had weakened. At the time, we thought maybe it was just the one handle, so we put a temporary fix on and tried again. Within a week, the entire front wall had been torn off at the weld points, and dangerous spikes were exposed that scraped the dog up as he exited that last time. At this point the entire crate was disposed of in order to protect our dog, and a replacement purchased.

This crate was completely destroyed after only a few months, and posed a significant risk to our dog. I'll admit he's a very active dog, but as soon as he figured out there were weaknesses in this crate, he took advantage of them, and found a way out. For the money spent, it was a complete waste.

We replaced this with a Petmate Vari Kennel Ultra Fashion, XLarge, Bleached Linen/Coffee Grounds, and have had it for a few years now with no signs of serious wear and tear. I would highly recommend the Vari Kennel over the Precision Pet, for a number of reasons, and I wish we had gone with it initially. The only reason I gave this 2 stars at all is because it did, for a while, hold the dog. Other than that I would never purchase this product nor recommend it to anyone.

I already purchased this from some sporting goods store. By the way I do not use this as suggested. I use as regular leash and a short one as a tab for off lead training. I train dogs and take them in the store all the time. Once they are trained, I don't need to use 6' lease any more. I don't use any other leashes except leather one. But this one is great for my dog which he does not pull. This is soft enough even for the dog pulls you. Because you are holding the loop, so it does not slide in your hands. I meant most of nylon leashes burn your hands when dogs pulls you. That's why I don't like them.

Since I have got a second dog, I needed another one. Because when I am training both of dogs in the store, two 6'leashes are too much to handle. Also they can be washed easily.

Seriously, my beagle runs after anything! And not at a cute, lumbering speed like my Bernese Mt Dog. She BOLTS like she was shot out of a cannon, full-tilt, head up, tail down, like a maniac! We have resorted to putting her behind a baby gate if we are going to be in and out of the house a lot, because one little slip-up and ZOOM! She's out like a dart. Chasing anything that spurs her little hunting dog instinct. Anything from a dangerous postal carrier or speeding car breaking our subdivision's 25 mph by a mph or two....to a leaf blowing across HER yard or the scent of a neighbor two blocks away grilling their dinner. Yup, everything sets her off running!

This is a helpful training device to restrain a dog from wandering into the neighbor's yard, but right up front, I am going to tell you, it is no substitute for a true fence. This is why dog rescue groups who rescue certain breeds will say, right on the application, that you must have a true fence, not an electric containment such as this one. I can see what they mean--now that I have a standard poodle. She is an energetic dog who has good hunting instincts. She loves to chase, she is gregarious and she RUNS fast. She will bust right out of any containment to get to what she wants (she's got a thing for a young neighbor guy, in particular. Just adores him. And kids. And cars....you get the picture.)

However, if you have a more sedate pooch who is relatively well trained, this can encourage the dog to stay in the yard. I'd say it would not work as well on willful breeds (such as the poodle, who is smart, but also has a desire to run and chase) or a greyhound, notably resistant to reward and punishment and driven to chase by sight, or a big breed with strong hunting chasing, protecting or aggressive instincts such as a rottweiler, mastiff, or dalmation.

And it doesn't keep dogs OUT of your yard...so your dog might be observing the limits, but a stray or neighbor's off-leash dog can come into your yard. Hence, a fence is really your only true protection. Nevertheless, with the right conditions, this unit is useful

Will it work?

This will work, but you have to use sense; we have fast drivers (45-50 mph on neighborhood streets where 20 mph would be safer and legal but what do they care?) A dog can run into the street and be hit even with this containment. I would not trust my dog NOT to be impulsive and do not trust the careless drivers here who speed on streets with children, dogs and all kinds of pedestrians. And you cannot use it on a puppy (too tender skin for static stimulus.)

For general restraint and training to stay in the yard, this is great--many of my friends use this. But as a protection for the dog, a fence is really proper and so, I agree with the rescue agencies who say that a fence is really what you need for certain breeds. But this can be helpful. Just don't rely on it as absolute restraint for the dog, because it isn't that.

At this time our patience is wearing thin. 1 week later we get a call saying the collars are on backorder. No idea of how long. We asked for our money back and were told the warranty had expired. We are extremely unhappy. No collar for who knows how long. The dog is roaming free. HAVAHART is very heartless because they could care less whether our dog is hit by a car or not. No skin off their nose. WE WILL NEVER ORDER A HARTLESS PRODUCT AGAIN. And advise every consumer out there to invest alittle more into a different company or order at your own risk if you insist or ordering from this hartless company. I feel like we have given this company a very good chance to rectify a wrong. I generally do not leave harsh reviews but this one is extremely called for.

I have a small yard with a too-short fence which is the max allowed by my HOA. A determined pooch could scale it without too much difficulty. So, like another reviewer, I didn't even bother burying it, just wove it through the wooden fence slats. It works just fine although I can see the insulation on the wire is showing some sun damage now. But it still works just fine. It gives me extra peace of mind.

Cons: As for cons, there are none that I can really think of aside from the fact that if your yard is small and close to a road this system WILL NOT instantly stop your dog from running after cars and possibly getting hit until it learns the boundaries and stops (which can take anywhere from a day to a month depending on your dog).
