Step-In Pet / Dog Harness - Medium - Black

Step-In Pet / Dog Harness - Medium - BlackMy pug does not like a harness that goes over his head. He likes stepping into and out of this harness. It is easy to click on and off. He prefers this harness over all others I have tried. I highly recommend it, especially for pugs, who have delicate necks and should not wear neck collars.

i tried 4 or 5 harnesses for my Vizsla before deciding on this one.. my boyfriend (who owns a Canaan) highly recommended this harness. after fitting it on my dog, i decided that it was the best fit for her. within a month, at least 2 other dog owners asked me where i got my harness! they could tell that it was well-suited for a canine. it DOES NOT allow for any pressure on their throat or anterior neck. it is easy to put on, comfortable for my dog as well as being a great-looking harness! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Progressive Sound and Shock Bark Control Collar For Small and Medium Dog

Progressive Sound and Shock Bark Control Collar For Small and Medium DogMade in China (of course!) really does mean low quality! This collar came with 2 batteries the 1st battery was already dead when it arrived, and the 2nd has only lasted about 1 week. When the battery worked, it only worked sporatically. I would NOT recommend this collar if you have a persistent barking dog. Lesson learned you get what you pay for!

Catscram Electronic Cat Repellent

Catscram Electronic Cat RepellentOk so I got this device for my indoor "bad" cats who started using my dining room instead of their perfectly clean litter boxes. They had a perfect track record until recently.

Well, I tried several chemical pherimore dispersers, other non-harmful devices.... and not one of them worked in the slighest!!

The Cat Scram, however, worked unbelievably on the first go around! I can't say enough great things about his product to do it justice.... It simply works... period!!!!

Get it, don't be afraid to put it in your house, like I have done, and be forever free of misbehaving cats! I am sooooo thrilled.... get one of these systems soon!!

I don't like cats but through a bizarre comedy of errors I find myself the co-owner of four of them. Their greatest joy in life is to climb around the counters after being in the litter box with the hope that we accidentally forgot a steak in the sink. Just after dawn the light hits our kitchen counters at the perfect angle to reveal a well worn path of little white paw prints going back and forth from the sink, to the stove, and back to the sink. It's as if old Bil Keane had snuck into our home and drawn one of those Family Circus comics for cats that retrace their mischievous steps as they wreaked havoc in the kitchen. The penalty where I live for animal cruelty that results in

substantial bodily harm to a pet or companion animal is imprisonment for up to one year, a fine of $3,000, or both so beating them was out of the question. One morning I finally snapped and decided to give the Catscram a try. I told the cats about this ahead of time. It was like when I was a kid and my mother would threaten me with the old, "Wait until your Father gets home!" line after I threw a fire cracker down the laundry chute. I kept telling them, "You just wait until the Catscram gets here. Then you'll be in trouble." The product showed up surprisingly fast within four days of ordering it so that was nice. I can't express how excited I was to get it in my hands. I set it up before even taking my coat off. "Let the sonic torture begin." I giggled to myself. So what were the results you ask? Cat Number One hates The Catscram like most Americans hate Osama Bin Laden. The second it goes of he bolts out of the kitchen and won't come out of hiding for at least 20 minutes. Cat Two and Cat Three are mildly irritated with it to the point where they will leisurely get off the counter when it goes off. Cat Number Four, who happens to be the worst behaved of the four cats, apparently thinks it's a new toy for him to play with on the way to the sink and it has no effect at all. So does it work? Yes and no. Reviews that say categorically (no pun intended) it works all the time or doesn't work at all are stupid to the point of being lacking any credibility. It depends on your cat. Any cat owner will tell you that they are fickle creatures with unique personalities and souls as black as night and because of this there is no one size fits all solution. I won't be returning it, but I probably won't be using it a lot either because it won't work in my situation. If you have a cat like Cat Number One get it because it will work. If you have a cat like Cat Number Four whose only goal in life it to bug you in between his frequent naps (and apparently can't hear anything) then don't get it because it will just be a paperweight.

Bought this as my rescue cat had peed on the basement, bedroom and living room carpets. The Catscram gets an A+. I set it up at the bottom of the basement stairs where there is no door to keep him out. He followed me down like always, but then he paused and kind of looked around and then SHOT back up the stairs! He has not gone down there since in almost 2 months. I moved the Catscram into the doorway of my newly-remodeled bedroom to see if it would keep him out. (I had finally gotten the urine smell out by getting rid of the old carpet and pad and then trying several products on the subfloor had best success with Arm&Hammer pet stain remover before sealing with 2 coats of Kilz and then a polyurethane sealant on top. He went to the bedroom door and came inside, but then again stopped and looked around before retreating back down the hall! I can now leave the door open and he won't go in. Sorry it hasn't worked for other people, but it did the trick for me!

After reading the poor reviews about this product I was more than skeptical. I was looking for something to keep my cats from using the dog door while still allowing the dogs complete access in and out day and night. I have 2 declawed rescue cats, one is 4 and the other is 8 years old. They are both well adjusted happy house cats who love attention and are nothing near "scaredy cats". This worked immediately for them. The crossed in front of it, the light flashed, they looked around and bolted for the upstairs. Needless to say that I am thrilled as the alternatives were a costly system that required putting heavy collars on the cats that would warn and shock them when they went into a "zone" or closing the dog door and managing the dogs potty breaks. I am so happy with the Catscram, I don't worry about the cats getting out and the dogs are thrilled to have inside/outside access at their leisure. I would and have recommended Catscram to family and friends. Can't believe it works.. but it does!

Want Catscram Electronic Cat Repellent Discount?

We have three cats, one adult, two kittens well, 8 months old now. The older cat knew the house rules and was no problem, our girl kitten was very docile and rarely broke the "rules" which are basically no cats on counters, dining room table and coffee table. Our problem was the young male kitten..he seemed to not care at all..he was very aware of what he shouldn't be doing, he would hear us approach the room and quick jump off the counter or whatever. He also LOVED baked treats..apple pie topping -ate half, blueberry muffins ate 2, even ate through a sandwich bag to get vanilla wafers! He also knew when I would be out of the house for extended periods of time which would be long enough for him to eat whatever on the counter or table. SO we purchased the Catscram for him. It seems to have worked! We have a "trap" of bacon grease left in a open pot on the stove, which he has nibbled at before the Catscram. Whenever I leave the house or room for a while, I set the Catscram at an angle so it will go off if he is on the counter. I can't hear a noise, unless i angle the speaker right in front of my ear, but the cats hear something, their ears turn to the noise. I don't know the range of the sound either, but cats in the living room resting do not seem to be affected by the noise in the kitchen, so that is nice. Not only has our troublesome boy stopped going on the counter, his other problem behaviors have stopped too, like dragging my towels and washcloths off the bar or out of the laundry basket and running away with them. I've also used it to block off the entrance to rooms I dont want the cats in, also works. The only downside is the small range, I mean, it only detects so far which is nice but if there are multiple problem areas, you will need multiple Scrams.

Dogtra 1900NCP Field Star 1/2 mile Training Collar Single Dog

Dogtra 1900NCP Field Star 1/2 mile Training Collar Single DogI will try and keep this short but I have a thousand good things to say about this product. I have a 15 month old German Shepherd puppy that is roughly 80lbs. He is stubborn and really loves to 'test' me. His energy level is what you'd expect for a dog of his age and his size times seventeen. He cannot be satiated by a walk and I can't run with him everyday due to knee problems. I have a nearby field where he could run and play if he was just able to heel when someone else came onto the field or walked by. He is extremely nice but most people freak out (which is expected when a GSD is charging at you) if he approaches them. I couldn't risk him jumping up on someone so we normally just took short walks and I dealt with his energy accordingly.

I read the reviews here and bit the bullet after swallowing what seemed like a bitter $200+ pill. Boy was I wrong! I took my dog out once. One time. Just a single outing with this thing and his demeanor changed EVEN at home. Just make sure you have the collar VERY tight. My dog is tough so the first time I thought he wasn't feeling it and I continued to increase the intensity until the contacts touched his skin around Level: 70, which delivers a solid pop. I had gone up to 40 on my own arm beforehand. I have shocked myself at this level (70) afterwards to make sure I didn't really hurt him. It's not comfortable but it's nothing bad...especially for such a large animal.

He wandered away from me and I called him back. He continued so he got the nick. It didn't stop him from running off from me so I switch over to constant (back down to level 25, where he is extremely responsive now) and held it for less than .5 seconds. He immediately stopped and looked at me. I called him back and he came immediately. I gave him tons of praise and that was it. That's the whole ordeal. I can take him anywhere now without a leash and I am in complete control. He responds to the device at just level 25 now and we are working on him learning the 'Page' feature so I can completely stop using the actual stimulation, though at this level it is not really any different than the vibration itself. The dog is far far happier and his energy level is lower now that we can spend 20 minutes with him in a solid sprint daily. His eating habits have improved and he is far less interested in people wandering around us.

Now that's what most reviews of this product sound like but they don't actual review this PRODUCT, just the premise of the device. Yes, it works amazingly well and your dog will have behavioral improvement as a direct result of using it but that doesn't say anything about THIS dogtra product. So let me convince you to buy this one instead of the ones for sale at PetsMart and the like. This unit is built TOUGH. It's water resistant and comes in an extremely well packaged carrying case. I am a devices hardware engineer and I am not one that is easily impressed. This thing does it for me. It's going to last forever and it's easy to use. The buttons are not easy to press accidentally and the range has been tested to about 400 yards (half the advertised range) without a hiccup. The charge lasts forever and you can charge them both at the same time. The collar is durable and comfortable for the dog. Mine doesn't even notice it. You can easily change the intensity of the stimulus if your dog runs off and needs a REALLY good jolt, though I have had amazing results with just using constant for about 1s at a VERY low level in those situations, when necessary.

After a few good zaps you won't have to worry about your dog roaming very far from you.

--Can't say enough, this is just fantastic!

I read lots of reviews of many different collars. The cheaper ones all seem to have issues after a short amount of use. I also did not want to be buying batteries every month. Another comment someone made was about being water proof. The last thing was the range needed to be more than 50 feet. This collar has so far been GREAT! It lasts for days on one charge, about 3 to 4 days constantly being on, the remote last even longer. I like having the ability to just vibrate the dog for correction as well. I don't have to use the Nick or Constant hardly at all. Only when he goes brain dead, i.e. another dog or something really interesting. Vibrate makes him stop what he's not suppose to be doing almost all the time. I try and use a command before I send a vibrate correction. I will say that the power level of this collar is controllable via the remote. DO NOT LET YOUR KID ALONE WITH THE REMOTE. I tired the shock collar on my self first and found that LVL 1-20 were barely noticeable. At lvl 30 I can hold on to it while pushing the constant button. I decided to turn the power up while holding it and pushing constant. When you get to lvl 40 it starts to hurt enough you don't want to hold it long. I am a big man 6'4" 300 lbs and I stopped there. This thing goes to 127 on the dial. The reason I say don't let your kids play with it is because they will turn it up to high and shock your buddy till he cry's. My kids had the dial set at 80 and hit the button. My oldest told my youngest it was all right to do it. So you can guess what happened next. Poor dog screamed and ran to my wife because I had went to the garage to get something. The youngest was very upset at what she had done to the dog. She cried for quite sometime. I had the boy hold the collar after showing and letting him push the button on (while on 30) me. I wanted him to understand it hurts. He has not done it since. I wish they made them for kids as well, I could see these being useful :-) LOL. Oh and the collar buckle is metal and the actual belt material is VERY strong and also water proof. I had to wash the whole thing after my dog rubbed his neck in $h!t. So I was thankful I bought the water proof one. I also looked at other sites for reviews before deciding on this collar (Cabela's). I would tell anyone with a stubborn dog that is 30 + lbs to get this collar. It works GREAT on my male 95lb Black Lab that just turned 1 yr old.

Tri-Tronics Pro 200 G3 collar is the one I settled on after researching dog e-collars extensively (the dogtra's and cheaper petco collars). I will write/ link to a more extensive review with pictures and video at a later date. Turns out if you link to anything outside of amazon, however helpful or innocuous it will get deleted and all you see are [....]. I will provide the url in an update (if I can figure out how w/o it getting deleted) but suffice it to say here are some of my findings and I hope this helps a dog lover with an unmanageable/ aggressive dog.

PLEASE, if you are considering `giving up' on your dog read on this is a tool that if used properly can really help your dog become a better citizen despite what people tell you about dogs and shock collars/ e-collars.

E-collars are for dogs that are `hard' dogs. This term refers to an aggressive dog toward other animals or humans and views your commands and hollering as `optional'.

The opposite is a `soft' dog may not follow your instructions but listens and tucks its tail between its legs when you raise your voice these collars SHOULD NOT be used with soft dogs (more on this later). For a very good video on this and how to use e-collars see link

We have had a rescue for six years and have contemplated getting an e-collar/ shock collar but have been very reluctant b/c it can cause pain to the animal. Last winter we found a small dog abandoned to die in the woods by our house (still makes me very sad to think that people do this). Our shepherd-mix is very aggressive, so the problem we had was she was ready to kill the little guy. Luckily we have a large home and could separate the two dogs and worked on slowly introducing them. Took some 6 months to where we could allow them into the same room (on leashes). Given the big dogs aggression we needed to get her under voice command every time. Also, given her high prey drive and tendency to roam we walk her on a 50ft. leash. She did break the leash a couple of times and it took a good hour to catch her as she would take off chasing an animal in the woods.

Along comes the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 collar. After following the leerburg dvd instructions and some 12 months later I can truly I WISH I HAD BOUGHT THIS SIX YEARS AGO. I can take our big dog off leash in the woods and SHE ALWAYS COMES BACK. I can make her stop in her tracks with my voice command NO. I have used the shock feature about 10 times in one year. Only one time have I used it on a high setting (66% of full power). The rest of the time it has been on low settings (16%) it snaps her out of her prey drive and makes her pay attention to me. I MUST EMPAHSIZE I ALWAYS HAVE DOG TREATS IN MY FANNY PACK for both the little dog and the big one and I FOLLOWED THE DVD INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY. Had I not bought the DVD I would have done it all wrong so I cannot recommend the product enough (see url above).

Why I chose the Tri-Tronics Pro 200:

1. I wanted a collar that would allow me to control my dog from a distance. If you are in the woods and there are rock outcrops the stated distance on e-collars at which you can control your dog drops off considerably. Given how much I love my dogs and how paranoid I was about the distance issue I wanted one that would, without a doubt, control my big dog, whatever the terrain I therefore settled for the one with a range of one mile. Keep in mind I had never used an e-collar but envisaged letting my dog roam free with the little dog (the recent addition) probably following her and wanted to ensure that I could control her over a long distance both dogs off-leash. This was the ultimate goal and I was very unsure how long this would take but wanted to have a collar that would work to satisfy this endpoint.

2. There are two different ways to `shock' your dog. One is `CONTINUOUS' lasts for ~10 seconds the other is a `NICK' last for ~0.5 seconds and is momentary. Reading up and watching all the material I could find I felt that the NICK in the end would be what I used more than the continuous. A year later I can confirm I was right.

3. Gradations More the gradations for the shock nick or continuous the better so I could dial in the exact setting to get our big dogs attention fine tuning the device to her sensitivity.

4. Expandability keep in mind we had just found the second dog. He was small, very badly abused. I wasn't sure with time if he too would turn out to be a stubborn guy so I wanted to be able to use two collars (one on each dog) controlled with one remote (in my hand) if need be. After a year I can say with certainty that this is not the case at all and so I will never use an e-collar on the little fellow. He does wonderfully with my voice commands.

5. The two manufacturers that came to the top early on were Dogtra and Tri-tronics. Each of these manufacturers have several different models and this is where it gets tricky and why I am writing this review (for now without the pictures and videos of my beta-testing). I decided I needed a 1 mile range and as many nick gradations I could get. I looked at the Dogtra 3500 NCP and the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 because they met my criteria. I decided to buy both and then keep the one I felt was best returning the other one.

6. The Dogtra has 127 continuous gradations for both the nick and the continuous mode. It is smaller than the tri-tronics and I was leaning toward this manufacturer. After having bought both to test out I quickly realized that the tri-tronics is actually far better for both the dog and the trainer. The way the e-collar works is there is a component that sits around the dogs neck (the receiver) and the transmitter (you have in your hand). The component on the dog's neck has two prongs that push into the dog's neck and this is what carries the electric shock to the animal after you press the button on the transmitter. The prongs on the Dogtra were brutal. They were significantly more pronounced and pushed into the dogs neck in a way that I thought was excessive, especially when compared to the Tri-tronics design. Keep in mind I was using the SMALLEST prongs from both manufacturers. The prongs have threads that screw into the receiver and you get a couple of different sizes in each box. Dogtra is a Korean company and I felt that keeping the dog comfortable while it has the receiver around its neck was not a priority and came through in the design. Remember the receiver is only activated for a very small fraction of the time the dog has this around its neck. This was something that I never did see in any reviews and was surprised to find out when I actually had both units in my hand and was beta-testing them for my use.

7. The Dogtra has 127 gradations while the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 has 18 for Nick and still fewer 6 for Continuous. On the face of it I thought this was a major drawback with the Tri-Tronics Pro 200. Also, the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 has a bigger transmitter (the part that sits in your hand). Surprisingly the Tri-Tronics is really a more thoughtful design and SUPERIOR product despite having less fidelity in the transmitter. Turns out the 18 gradations for the Nick and the 6 for continuous in the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH. IMO there is also a design flaw in the Dogtra transmitters (regardless of model #) that again I only discovered because I bought both and was trying them out side-by-side and I haven't seen mentioned anyplace.

The Dogtra feels like a thick cell phone (think Motorola startac vintage but 2x thicker) that has a knurled knob where the antennae would go that you rotate and as you rotate it the level changes in a little LED screen on the face of the device, displaying the setting value (between 1 and 127). As you rotate it the value changes from 1 127. You have two rubberized buttons labeled nick or continuous positioned on the side of the instrument (where the volume buttons on a cell phone would be). You also have a vibrate button (more about this later) but this is on the face of the device above the LED display .

The Tri-Tronics Pro 200 has a knob on the top, with hard stops, and these go from 1-6. This device looks like a 2D maglite flashlight, albeit smaller and lighter. On the SIDE of the cylindrical device you have three buttons that control the levels of the shock low, middle and high. Take a look at the picture else it will be very confusing

So, if you set the knob on TOP of the device to a 3 and press the low button on the SIDE of the device the dog get a nick at the 3 level. If you press the middle button instead (again on the SIDE) the dog is now nicked at a 9 level. If you press the low and middle buttons together the dog is now nicked at a level 12. So, you are ramping the level at which your dog is being shocked very rapidly. The third button is colored red and will provide a continuous shock (for ~10 secs) at a high setting (keep in mind the knob on the top stays at a 3 in each of the scenarios I listed). This is VERY IMPORTANT in your training and let me give you a real scenario where this became CRITICAL.

My large dog was out in the woods and as I have mentioned she has an incredibly high prey drive. She saw a woodchuck and took off after it down a valley (this is after we got the e-collars but were still testing them out). She was off leash b/c of how well the e-collars worked out. She had the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 on that day. I use it at a "3" on the top of the device and press the low button to get her attention. So, I am nicking her at 16% of the full power. Once she had locked onto the Woodchuck and took off I could not get her attention at this setting or the middle setting. I was worried she would catch and kill the woodchuck and so I pressed the red button, again with the setting on the top remaining unchanged and still at 3 (Here it is 66% of full power). She came back squealing really quickly. This has been the ONLY time in a little over a year that I used the high setting on her and I have never had a problem stopping her with a NO voice command since. Had I had the Dogtra system I would have had to have fiddled with the knob first, raised the setting level, and then pressed the continuous shock button. In the heat of the moment I am quite sure I would not have gotten this right and it would have taken me longer because I would have been messing with device. With the Tri-Tronics set up you are pressing a large button, without even really looking at the device in your hand. So, I went from pressing one button to pressing one above it almost reflexive never taking my eye off my dog. I think if you are training you want there not to be a time lag of any kind so there is no confusion in the dogs mind. Also, in this instance, I was able to avoid an untoward incident. If you have an aggressive dog you need to be able to switch to the highest setting instantly, without taking your eye off the dog.

8. Both units clearly work well. I think the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 is a better unit. If you have a dog that you are considering euthanizing or giving up for adoption because of behavior issues PLEASE CONSIDER trying an e-collar Dogtra or Tritronics in conjunction with the video I mention above. You will find your dog changes dramatically within a week. If you follow the instructions and the prep work in the video to the letter the first 15 minutes where you actually use the e-collar on the animal will have a DRAMATIC impact on behavior. Please do the prep work, it takes about 2 weeks but the results are truly stunning.

It took us rescuing our little dog to actually look into an e-collar for the Shepherd-mix. I wish we had done this sooner because she now roams without a leash and really enjoys herself on walks where before she was always on leash. I am happy to report the two dogs are now best of friends and the little fella actually loves the Shepherd more than he does us.

A couple of other things that come to mind (the longest review I have ever written LOL I sure hope it helps someone)! The Dogtra's charge a bit differently from the TT. The remote collar and transmitter (what you hold in your hand) have a little rubberized jack (on each) with a flip cover that you flick open and plug in the charger ends. If you have a bird dog or if you wander through marshy/muddy areas I wonder if the Dogtra's might collect dirt or get damaged? This was not an issue for me but something to be aware of. The TT collars charge similar to the Phillips toothbrush I have. You set the transmitter in a cradle and the proximity is sufficient to charge the unit. The receiver snaps into a cradle and the contacts touch and charge up the unit. There is no receptacle and so you don't have to worry about whether you got the snap cap back on. For both the Dogtra and the Tri-Tronics battery life was a non-issue. I used them for about 60 days (charging about once a week) and the batteries never ran down. I cannot comment on the longevity of the Dogtra b/c I returned it since I was going to get the TT but a year later the Tri-Tronics is fine. I would imagine the Dogtra would have been fine too. I understand the Tri-Tronics rechargeables can be replaced by the consumer. The Dogtra's have to be sent back in and I think they told me it would be . Again, minor detail.

ONE CRITICAL THING I FOUND: The Leerburg kennel sells a quick release strap (like a zip tie with a release button on it) for e-collars . I know the quick release works with both the Dogtra and the Tri-Tronics training collars and they are a MUST. The receiver that sits around the dogs neck has a strap and it is a pain to use (both manufacturers). The quick release is a cinch and more importantly you can figure out precisely how tight you want the receiver to be around the dog's neck. Again, Ed Frawley at Leerburg has a great online video of this nifty add-on. For the first couple of weeks I used what came with the collars and it was a real pain. Keep in mind you will need nitrile gloves to get a good grip b/c you will need to thread this (zip tie like add-on) through where the strap was on the receiver (after taking off the strap, obviously). It is a very tight fight so I found the nitrile gloves were perfect and I didn't need to mess with vaseline. You thread the quick release strap once and then you will be taking the transmitter on and off the dog's neck by pressing a button on the zip tie.

My wife and I have a 80lb puppy who has had some issues with jumping up on people. This training collar has helped us keep her from tackling our guests. Great product, the vibrate funtion is an added bonus that seems to have a great effect.

Want Dogtra 1900NCP Field Star 1/2 mile Training Collar Single Dog Discount?

I purchased this product when my German Shepherd puppy was 6 months old due to a regular habit of her pursuing bad behaviors when she knew I was powerless to punish her (barking occasionally when she saw me outside, jumping on cupboards when I am out of the room, running into forbidden rooms when my back is turned... typical puppy antics). I was initially opposed to purchasing any product that uses electric shocks as punishment--I had done some research on the topic and found very mixed opinions on the subject, depending on the person doing the review. Unfortunately, I was in a difficult position, as I had a neighbor in my townhouse complex that despised dogs and was convinced it was my dog causing trouble every time a dog barked anywhere on the complex. Even though these were wild delusions, I knew it was only a matter of time before he took his vendetta against us to our landlord, so I decided to expedite my dog's training with whatever means possible in hopes I could make a strong case against his claims. Until that point, I had been using positive reinforcement training to encourage good behavior. I tried using ultrasonic deterrents and anti-bark spray collars without success, so going to a full-out shock collar was a huge leap.

There's not much to say about this product that others haven't. It is certainly more expensive than what you'll find at the pet stores, but its quality is light-years ahead of the competition. The unit itself is solid and the strap is quite durable. The remote trigger is very intuitive and fits well in your hand. There are 127 shock levels and a vibration feature that rattles the collar like a cell phone. My only complaint is that it is sometimes difficult to read the digital display in bright sunlight, but this is a rare problem since my use is strictly indoors for now. According to the specifications, this collar has a filtering element that prevents stray signals from accidentally triggering the collar (such as if another unit is triggered nearby). This was something important to me, as the last thing I want is the poor dog to get punished for something it didn't do. In the 6 months I've owned it, there has never been an unwanted shock. Although I can't confirm since I've never owned the cheaper collars, I've heard unwanted shocks is an issue for those cheaper units. This Dogtra model appears to have that safely taken care of. Battery life is difficult to gauge, since it will vary with how much you are using it. I can't say for sure how long it last and I do wish it would last longer, but it doesn't disappoint.

I imagine that some people exploring the option of using a shock collar are on the fence of whether it is a good decision for their dog. Obviously the pro-collar people will say it's the best thing ever and the anti-collar people will say you hate your dog, but I've found the best way to be sure is to hear how other people use it successfully and gauge whether that can be applied to my situation. While I'm no expert in this area, I can say that the training and relationship with my dog has stayed good while using this collar. Yes, the dog is not the happiest when she gets in trouble, but mild force is a language she seems to understand quite well (keeping in line with how dogs behave in packs, where the leader nips wayward subordinates to express displeasure). Like I said earlier, I was initially opposed to getting this, so I made a list of rules to follow:

1.) I never use the collar as punishment when I am angry or emotional. The trigger is only activated when I have a clear mind, which prevents the dog from being overly punished. It's tough when she decides to rip up my favorite shirt, but I refuse to let my anger sour the relationship.

2.) My overall training program is structured as positive reinforcement (reward-based) clicker training. The collar's role is to help the dog understand and respect boundaries, and after it is used I show the dog what is acceptable and then reward accordingly.

3.) The collar is never used (except for in an emergency) to punish a behavior when another dog or person is involved. This is important, because incorrectly applying a punishment may make the dog believe that the other entity (dog, person, etc.) is the cause of the discomfort, which could lead to aggression. I avoid this by never using the collar outside when we are on walks or potty breaks, and am happy to report no aggression issues.

4.) I only subject the dog to a punishment that I can tolerate myself. Prior to putting the collar on the dog, I tested the shock settings on my skin so I could feel and understand that the pain is real and should be using sparingly. The highest setting I could tolerate was 60, so the dog gets 30 (started with 20, but upgraded as her fur got thicker). I will note that I've found a pleasant alternative by using solely the vibrate function to correct bad behavior. My dog seems to hate the vibrate function enough to take it seriously, which is fine by me because there is no concern of pain being involved (I set the shock level to zero when doing vibrate-only training).

5.) I only use the collar when I can confirm a bad behavior. For example, if I am in another room and the dog breaks a "quiet" command by barking, I will use either vibrate or shock. But if I *think* I hear her jumping on the cupboard, I will do nothing until I can visually confirm that she has. I make every effort to associate a command being disobeyed before punishment is given, such as saying "quiet" after an unwanted bark but not punish until she barks again. For things like jumping on cupboards, she gets punished without a command (except me yelling "no!"), so she learns the cupboard is always off limits.

6.) I only use the shock collar if it works for the dog. I've heard that certain dogs will respond very well to shock collars (German Shepherds seem to respond very well, because they are a smart breed and thrive off structure). Other dog breeds may not respond well. For example, there is a Havanese I know that will whimper in a corner if you use this on him and will never learn a thing. I can't confirm for others though, but so far my German Shepherd takes quite well to the collar. In fact, I swear she almost likes wearing it, as she sees it as a "privilege" collar since her roaming boundaries are expanded when she's wearing it.

7.) The collar is only worn when I am home and can actively work with my dog to help teach her rules. I see no benefit in her wearing it when I am away and it is generally ill-advised, since the prongs may cause a rash if worn for days on end. The longest my dog has worn the collar is 12 hours, followed by a 12-hour break, and she's had no issues with rashes.

I'm sure there's more that I can't think of, but overall I'm glad I bit the bullet on price and purchased this collar. It is a durable piece of equipment that I consider safe to use around my beloved dog. Relationship-wise, my dog and I are as close as ever. Using the collar, she understands that I am in charge and will use mild force to correct her when she is out of line, but knows I love and accept her without question. For those on the fence about a shock collar, I suggest doing research and planning a training approach for your pooch if you were to get one--that way you can evaluate whether the option works or if a better one is available. Personally, I think the collar works really well with the training plan I have in place and that I've got one happy dog now that she has a better understanding of boundaries. I recommend this product.

EZwhelp Washable Whelping & Puppy Pad 20" x 27"

EZwhelp Washable Whelping & Puppy Pad 20' x 27'We have been using these pads for our ten-pound chihuaua for about a month. For 3 1/2 years we had used Dry Paws disposable pads (we think they are the best disposables) in a pad holder. If we had known about the EZwhelp pads we would have used them from the beginning. They are sturdy, absorbent, and can be washed and dried on the hottest settings. They also look tidier than a peed-on disposable as the stains are not as obvious. The liquid seems to be well absorbed through the top layer into the middle, absorbent layer, and there is definitely no soaking through to the floor. I like to have six of them on hand and use about one per day (sometimes more frequently). I hang the soiled ones in the garage to air and dry, and when I put the last clean one down I wash and dry the others. So simple, and so much better than sending all those disposables to the landfill. I hate to think how many we have already sent there, but happy no more will go except for the occasional one used for travel. AND, over time the EZwhelp pads will end up costing less than disposables and take up less storage space than the disposables, which we were ordering 100 at time. Definitely the way to go for a pad-trained dog. The 20"X27" works fine for our already pad-trained ten pounder.

I have two dogs that I rescued from Mississippi. One is a Yorkie and the other is a Yorkiepoo. Apparently the woman who owned them never bothered to house train them to go to the bathroom outside. So I bought three of these pads, and the dogs are great in using them. They hold their urine without leaking through. I bought three of them so I can rotate and wash them as needed. I would recommend these for anyone trying to house break a dog.

I have purchased several of these piddle pads in different sizes. I have used them for a couple of years now. I have an indoor Yorkie who uses piddle pads. Most piddle pads on the market are either white or have unattractive prints that scream piddle pad. These are a neutral brown, unobtrusive and don't clash with most decors.

They are thin but as absorbent as any other cloth piddle pads. They launder well. Many cloth piddle pads get all puckery after laundering and don't lie flat after a few washings. I was them on normal and max spin but dry them on the lowest setting. Even my oldest ones still look nearly new. My sister and sister in law (both have multiple Yorkies) also use them and like them. I like them and will buy more in the future.

We have a little Yorkie that doesn't want to be house trained! Started out with disposable pads but could quickly see that was going to get real expensive! Besides, she likes to chew on and shred the disposables. I do change the pad daily probably wouldn't be necessary. They seem to hold the smell in better than the disposables. The color is great! You have to look really close to see if she even used it! I bought 5 of the smaller size to start with. They are actually a wee bit too small. I bought 3 of this size and they are just the right size! I intend to get a few more so I don't wear my washing machine out washing them! I got a rubber maid container with a lid and use it to put the soiled pads in. Works great, can't smell a thing until you remove the lid to add another soiled pad! I also found that putting a small towel under the pad really helps the pad to absorb the urine better. I highly recommend these pads.

Want EZwhelp Washable Whelping & Puppy Pad 20" x 27" Discount?

These are a great alternative to the disposable piddle pads and far more affordable then other competitive brands (ie Pooch Pads, which are also great but pricey!). I still have an EZwhelp pad that was given to me by my dog's breeder 2 years ago and it's held up well multiple machine washings and all :).

The 20" x 27" pads are very small, even for dogs under 10 lbs, so these are better suited for puppies. The one my breeder gave me is this size and I use it as a temporary backup when it's time to laundry the others. Go directly to the EZwhelp site and you can find larger sizes at equally reasonable prices, though shipping is not included. My dog is just under 10lbs and 27"x32" is a perfect size for him, taking into consideration the available space in my foyer as well. I just ordered 4 new ones so I can minimize the frequency of washings (the dirty ones go into a plastic bag in the basement until it's time to wash them) and with shipping, each pad came to $9.82 not bad!

Long term, these will definitely save you money (disposables are expensive!) and I find these are much more absorbent to boot. I still use the disposables for traveling, but having transitioned completely over to reusable pads has saved me about $30 a month which I now use to splurge on fun toys for my little buddy ;).

ATC Long Range 1000M Remote Control Dog Training Shock Collar for 1 Dogs with 50 Levels of Tone, Vib

ATC Long Range 1000M Remote Control Dog Training Shock Collar for 1 Dogs with 50 Levels of Tone, Vibration and StimulationGreat product with really good features. Works very well on our very active dog. I consider this collar a good purchase and have suggested it to friends.

UPDATE May 17, 2012 -

-----

Well I am giving a update because the collar with the receiver is broken. It lasted until my German Shepherd got it caught into the fence. He yanked on it causing the side to break off. It was still useable but a few days later the receiver will not respond. I changed batteries, collaborated it with the remote and it will respond once, then stop. I would like to get another receiver but it does not say what model or one I need.

POSTED March 2012 -

------

I already had a training collar for my pooch but the buttons on the remote were not that good and would stick. Making it useless. So I decided to search for a newer replacement and a reasonable price. I ended up here. At the time there was no reviews on this product. I compared "Long Range 1000M Remote Control Dog Training Shock Collar for 1 Dogs with 50 Levels of Tone, Vibration and Stimulation" to a lot of other ones. I almost went with a $20 one but you couldn't change the level of the vibration and stimulation. So I bought this one. My one complaint is that it does not fit a small dog that well. The receiver is so large the poor dog cannot bend his neck well. The collar part is so darn long that I had to tape it to fit him. Now it says that it is a 50 level but it is actually a 99/100 level. There are 0-99 levels. 0 being it is off and 99 being the strongest. I love that it does work. The beep is a little odd, but the vibration catches his attention a lot. I did try the stimulation on him a couple of times and it is strong. The old one that I have he would listen to the loud sharp beep but this one he ignores it. It really isn't loud and sharp. It's odd. He sort of ignores the vibration but since the collar is so huge the stimulation does not always get him. I love the fact that the remote auto turns off. It does take 3 to 5 seconds for it to turn on but he learned from the button clicking and seeing the remote in my hand to stop doing what he is about to do. He is very visual so that works for me. One thing that was not mentioned that I like and sometimes it is a down fall is that the collar auto turns off after there is no movement. So even if I turn the remote back on the collar won't respond until my pooch moves. The loose sound in the collar when shook is a motion detector thingy. So when he gets up and moves it turns it back on. The downfall is about it for me is that sometimes my lil guy does not move very strongly for it. So the collar won't turn on until I shake it a little bit. Other than that, I do like this system. The buttons on the remote didn't get stuck and that is a plus with me. I say give it a chance. I did even though at the time there were no reviews. My husband was iffy but I liked what I read of the product. Also I found a video on Youtube about it.

Premium Deluxe Dog Pet Training Treat Bait Bag Pouch with FREE Clicker by Downtown Pet Supply

Premium Deluxe Dog Pet Training Treat Bait Bag Pouch with FREE Clicker by Downtown Pet SupplyI have purchased several of these for myself and as gifts for other dog owners. It can be adjusted to fit on your waist which makes it easy to get treats fast when training. It is weatherproof so even in bad weather treats stay dry. Keeping treats in here helps prevent dogs from eating through your pockets for the treats, do you save on buying new coats! The only issue II have is with the clasp for opening and shutting the top. It works great but maybe because i use it alot, it breaks so it doesn't stay closed. This does not make it unusable, just that you can't lean over, otherwise the treats fall out.

Works as described, but the seam of the Cordura fabric at the opening scratches my knuckles each time I reach into the pouch. Also, a rounded bottom instead of a square one would make it easier to fish out treats. The tiny cubes of treats that we use for our smallish dog get trapped down in the bottom corners of the pouch where it's heard to get them out as fast as necessary to reward the dog correctly. These two design issues are the reason I'm not giving this 5 stars.

I read the reviews (2) for this before ordering. I like the design of the pouch and hope the metal spring thing that opens and closes does not break as one reviewer said it did. I do not find that the material scratches my knuckles as another reviewer said it did. I wear it low on my waist, actually at my hip, thigh area, to make it easy to reach and does not spill when open while bending over to my dog. I love the 2 extra little pockets. The clicker is not very loud, but I have never used a clicker before to know how loud they should be. Overall, so far I really like it!

This is a very nice kit. It holds loads of treats. The clicker could be louder, but I did purchase a separate one that was reported by many to be 'too loud', and it was really no louder than the one that came with the kit. The little wrist band to hold the clicker is very useful. The kit is well made, easy to put on and take off, and it's very easy to get treats out since the opening at the top of the pouch stays open by itself. I have no complaints whatsoever with this kit.

Kyjen Doggie Obstacle Course

Kyjen Doggie Obstacle CourseI'll admit that I felt compelled to buy this product after an over-enthusiastic viewing of the America's greatest dog show. This is a good, inexpensive activity if you want to work with your dog on extremely simplistic skills (going through a tunnel, jumping over a bar). The materials are a bit flimsy, so I would only really recommend the activity set for smaller, lighter weight dogs. My golden retriever was not a great fit. However, I would still consider this a good value for small to medium dogs who you have a decent amount of space to work with. Have some fun, maybe teach the dog something.

This kit is very basic and cheap! The best thing about my purchase was I got an extra jump-which is fine with me because everything is so flimsy-so I will have a back up if something breaks.

I didn't know I would be staking down everything! I thought it would be free standing-so that was a disappointment.

I don't have alot of room to store stuff at the moment so this worked great-I think the bars a little thin for my do to see them. He's having trouble with the jumps. He does flyball mind you-and is far from stupid!

What I learned is that my dog will enjoy agility-I got him to do the weaves almost perfect in 2 days! So I know I won't be wasting my money when I sign up for agility next month. I have a friend in flyball who is selling her agility equipment so I will buy some things off her.

I know the items I will keep in this kit are the tunnel and the jumps. Can't use the pause box because you have to stake it they couldn't even do a pop out one like how the tunnel pops? The weave poles wouldn't stand completely straight either so those I throw away too-might save them and make jumps out of them.

It is OK. the plastic poles were a bit flimsy. The tunnel was ok , we had a better one we got before. the price was OK. It comes packaged clear so if its a surprise don't let it be delivered where its going you can see everything in the package through the package.

No Pull Halter

No Pull HalterWe have two dogs: a 90-pounder and a 45-pounder. Both usually walk nicely except when certain "triggers" (duck, other dog, squirrel, ball, etc.) cross their path, initiating a pulling frenzy.

We bought each dog a harness that encircles the midsection, loops over the head, and then has a clip above the head. Although initially this mechanism did the trick in stemming the pulling problem, eventually the clip (which has to be opened each time to slide and widen the the loop around the dog's head to remove it) broke into pieces. When we found the pieces and reassembled the clip, we found that the thing was weaker than ever. Now, if the dog pulled, sometimes the clip would fly apart.

So, we began a search for another no-pull harness and came across the Sporn Training Halter. We bought one to try out on one dog, our 45-pounder. She seemed to like that it fastened like her own collar (her collar had to come off for the Sporn one to go on) and nothing was wrapped around her belly. The halter arrived with soft sherpa coverings (removable and replaceable) to protect the dog's armpits. The halter went on much more easily and quickly than the previous harness.

Our "45" seems to enjoy walking with the Sporn on, and it is effective in minimizing pulling. We're off to buy a Sporn now for our "90"!

I have a real pull dog! She is an American Pit Bull Terrier and she really is a moose. I tried countless harnesses and spent countless amounts of money listening to all the claims made about how good they were. Some she was able to get right out of. Some were so complicated and took so long to get on her she couldn't wait around long enough for me to continuously figure it out. Finally, a harness that not only does what it says it will do, but is easy and quick to put on and she can't get out of it! It is also well made. Buying this one came as a recommendation from a lady at the Charlotte Pet Expo. She told me she can easily hold a wolf back with it when I told her that I was sick of everyone making claims to me of how great their harnesses were and what a sucker I was to keep doling out the money for a different one every time someone gave me another recommendation. Well, this is the last one I will ever have to buy. Thank you lady at the Pet Expo wherever you are! It is also very comfortable for my dog. If you find any reviews that say the dog was rubbed sore (I think I read one somewhere like that) then I believe the owner may have made the harness too tight on the dog. It doesn't have to be skin tight to work and it works wonders.

This is my 5th harness to stop my Mini Schnauzer from PULLING me. I definately feel that this will be my last; or at least the only style and brand I will need and recommend to EVERYONE who wants to cure their pet from pulling.

I was so exasperated before I found this product, and unfortunately did not have hundreds of dollars for training as I have two dogs.

It actually does stop the pulling and now I can enjoy walking my Schnauzers.

Believe me when I tell you that this works; it even works better that the custom made system that I drove 200+ miles to purchase. Yes that is desperate ( I KNOW ) BUT this SPORN halter works and lives up to the INSTANT claim that it makes.

It took so little effort on my part that they actually should change the name to self training halter.

Our Dog Trainer recommended the Sporn Harness to stop pulling when our English Springer Spaniel is walking. She runs and jumps all day in our backyard, so she is solid muscle and rather strong. The Sporn works like a charm... she hated the "Gentle Walker" it is a big waste of money.

Cadet Training Pads for Dogs, 100 Count

Cadet Training Pads for Dogs, 100 CountThe puppy pads are useful, but I have found another brand was more absorbant, didn't let the pee seep through to the floor like these did. Other than that, our puppies seem to be attracted to them, 8 times out of 10. The price is pretty decent too.

I usually purchase cadet from a local store and they cost slightly more so I thought I'd try these out. These pads were not the same quality as the ones I usually purchase. The others are more absorbent and much thicker and heavier material. These weren't even the size that I expected(they are about an inch smaller than the Cadet brand that I usually purchase). They served the purpose but I was very disappointed in the overall quality of the product.

WACKYwalk'r Urban Dog Leash - Large - Blue

WACKYwalk'r Urban Dog Leash - Large - BlueMy beagle is a real puller. This definitely helps curb that behavior. We also like that it's shorter than our old leashes so he doesn't wrap around and get tangled either.

This is hands down one of the best products you can buy out there. It makes walking much more enjoyable. No more jerking or tugging, just a spring action. Leash is made out of strong rubber and no need to worry about it breaking it's reinforced. I am buying a second one for a friend who tried mine out and loves it.

Tri-Tronics Sport Upland G3 Training Collar

Tri-Tronics Sport Upland G3 Training CollarThis is the second tri-tronics collar I've owned. The first was inherited from my father-in law and was an older model with screw on attenas. The only reason I'm not still using that one (which worked perfectly) is that I wanted a transmitter that would turn the beeper collar on and off. You can get cheaper collars, but the quality, durability, longevity, and customer service of Tri-Tronics is a good value.

I really like the system. Controler works well and is easy to use with or without gloves on. With the beeper, the collar is a bit top heavy and rotates from the 6 o'clock position. Admittedly, I have a skinny-necked dog but it does take quite a bit of fine tuning to position the beeper just right so it balances the mass of the shock unit and the collar buckle.

Buy Tri-Tronics Sport Upland G3 Training Collar Now

Works as advertised, but I ended up returning and getting a Sportdog model, which had various volume level settings that this one didn't, as well as a tone & vibrate mode (which again this didn't). Solid product though, just beware the beeper part sticks out quite a bit (couple inches or so)...no problem on a bigger dog I guess, but for my French Brittany the more compact Sportdog model fits much nicer + more features for similar price.

SmartPets Remote Control Dog Training Vibration Collar SP 309

SmartPets Remote Control Dog Training Vibration Collar SP 309I love this thing for my deaf dog, I just don't like the fact that every other time I go to use it, it's not working. The batteries never want to stay in place or they just die so fast (even rechargeable batteries). It's also kind of unfortunately that it is not waterproof. I suppose investing in one that does cost a bit more is worth it but sometimes you just aren't made of money.

We wanted a vibrating collar without the shock aspect for a deaf dog. This product fit the bill price-wise and in action. Great find!

SENSE-ation No-Pull Dog Harness - Purple

SENSE-ation No-Pull Dog Harness - PurpleMy JRT puppy used to pull on walks with her other harness. You know the kind... The kind that has the ring you snap into on the dog's back.

But after using this harness (in conjunction with obedience training) success! She now walks beautifully.

I've also noticed that when/if I use her collar (for those quick potty breaks in the middle of the night) she still is trained to not pull.

CON (which prevented me giving this product the five stars):

It's super easy to accidentally pinch her skin when putting on or taking off the harness. It also doesn't help that the clasp part is in an awkward position (under the armpit) and is sometimes "temperamental". For a few weeks, she would run away from me when she saw the harness come out (even with chicken liver present!). I've had to seriously work/train/condition/make it fun to have the harness put on. To this day, I still present treats before, during and after snapping the harness on.

I bought my first sense-ation no-pull soft-touch harness back when the company first started. I have bought one for each of my dogs over the years. None have ever worn down or broken and I use them every other day all year long hiking up the mountain out back. In the snow too. I can't speak highly enough about this product. My first two have been through multiple dogs. They deserve a ten!!

Buy SENSE-ation No-Pull Dog Harness - Purple Now

I got this for my 5 month old ridgeback puppy because of how hard she was pulling on her collar I was worried about her hurting herself. =(

The harness works great. There is an upper limit to how hard she can pull (important when she's already 55lb and I'm 100lb) before the harness trips her. It took me a couple weeks of adjusting the fit before it stopped chafing her armpits, but now she wears it all day without any irritation. Very sturdy design too; despite how strong my pup is and how big she is going to get, I am not worried about her being able to break it in the slightest.

Overall: super effective in helping me train my puppy to stop pulling as well as stops her from being able to put all of her weight and strength into pulling me in emergency situations (assuming it is fitted properly and you are paying attention).

Mendota Products Versa-Belt Lead

Mendota Products Versa-Belt Lead , Camo, 1 x 30-InchI already purchased this from some sporting goods store. By the way I do not use this as suggested. I use as regular leash and a short one as a tab for off lead training. I train dogs and take them in the store all the time. Once they are trained, I don't need to use 6' lease any more. I don't use any other leashes except leather one. But this one is great for my dog which he does not pull. This is soft enough even for the dog pulls you. Because you are holding the loop, so it does not slide in your hands. I meant most of nylon leashes burn your hands when dogs pulls you. That's why I don't like them.

Since I have got a second dog, I needed another one. Because when I am training both of dogs in the store, two 6'leashes are too much to handle. Also they can be washed easily.

Another thing I like about this is that it has a couple of rings to connect together even I don't use them on my belt.I use those ring to put on my back pack or my belt when they can be off lead. I just put it through my belt or any opening and hook to the ring on the same leash, even just hook onto a backpack directly. So I don't have to hold it.

And I have each colors for each dogs.

PetSafe Yard-and-Park Remote Trainer, PDT00-10603

PetSafe Yard-and-Park Remote Trainer, PDT00-10603My wife and I love to hike with our German Shepherd. However, her (the dog) behavior had become an issue. Whenever, she sees another dog or horse, she loses her mind, and we lose control of her. We did not want to resolve ourselves to hike with her on a leash.

Now that we have this device she "comes" on command, and not on the second or third time we call. She comes the first time, and to my hand. Now we can hike with her, and gain control when we see dogs, horses, and those who do not share our enthusiasm for dogs.

I like to add this devise is not cruel in any form. It has a dial of 8 settings. I tried it on myself. I could not feel "1" at all. "2" and "3" tingled. "4" felt uncomfortable (not painful), and that is where our dog is set.

The only issue is at home. We have an "invisible fence", which works on a very similar principle. The issue is that when I "beep" her or "zap" her at home, she becomes very confused. Hence, we only use it primarily for our hikes, which was our desired goal anyways.

The conclusion is that I highly recommend it for hiking or rather "off-leash" walks. You may have mixed results at home, if you have an "invisible fence". Although without the "invisible fence" issue, I believe it would be very effective for any sort of training.

Bottom line is that it works and I wish had I bought this tool earlier.

I've belonged to PETA, World Wildlife Fund, and I have volunteered at shelters, etc... My life has always had an animal in it and I love animals. That was until my husband brought home a pug puppy. For a year I was tortured by my guilt over my extreme dislike of this dog. She bit, she chewed (going to happen with puppies I know but it was INSANE), she scratched, she jumped, she made messes, she started to use my toddlers as chew toys and no matter what we did, who trained her, where we took her she wasn't getting it. She has been crate trained from the beginning and she still wasn't getting the fact that she had to "go" outside. I don't mean an accident every once in a while, I mean our living room was her backyard. I was a mess, I was irritable and frustrated with her 90% of the time because (mainly)of her biting. I've trained numerous dogs before and she wasn't getting it. Buying this collar was a last resort and the BEST THING I DID. She had the collar on 2 days and she got it. She got it all. Everything we tried to train her for a year sunk in on the first shock. (And we had the level at a 2!) The kids now play with her, I enjoy my time with her, she enjoys life because she is with us, my older (geriatric) dog is enjoying life because he's not her chew toy. It's AWESOME. The fact that it's rechargable is a plus and the only reason it didn't get a perfect, 5-star grade is because I wish the charge lasted longer. Saved our life, took away the guilt, my kids love her now(they were scared to death of her before), my husband is happy and it brought peace to our house.(And a house with 2 adults, 2 toddlers, 2 cats, 2 dogs and 3 birds needs as much calmness as possible:)) (Our cats are happier, too, because she's not chewing on them either!) HIGHLY recommend it and anyone who says it's inhumane hasn't seen it in action like I did. She does not wear it now except as a re-training every 2 weeks or so. I used to have to chase her all over the house to get her into her crate. My husband used this horrible, high pitch baby voice to get her in the crate (if you had heard that you would have fainted!). One week with the collar and training and all I have to do is point to the crate and say, "Chloe crate!" and she's in. It's crazy!

I wish I would have bought this years ago for a previous dog that I owned. I use this collar on a dog that weighs 12 pounds and the collar would easily adjust to fit to an even smaller dog. We use it for many reasons i.e. stopped her nipping at the kids, walking off leash w/o running away, not barking, etc. This product is a miracle. I absolutely love it!!!

I have tried every collar there is for my 2 1/2 year old Rottweiler. She has three head collars, 2 harnesses, pinch collars, choker chains and regular nylon collars. NOTHING works on her. She has been through 4 months of obedience training and my husband and I have spent hours working with her and walking her daily. We love to go hiking but, she had a bad habit of lunging at people and bikes. Once she got worked up from seeing another hiker or biker, we could not seem to calm her back down. She just became crazy in the head and hard to control. It became so bad that we had to stop hiking because she scared other people and with her size, 112 pounds, it was really taking a toll on our shoulders trying to keep her under control. She was never aggressive, not growling or biting, just lunging and hard to keep hold of. Several times, she pulled me off my feet. This collar has been a miracle for us. She is a perfect little angel now. She gets over and sits on command when a jogger or car goes by and if I sense she is going to jump, I give her the warning beep. It only took about a week of using the "shock" before she got it and now we almost never have to use the stimulation. The beep is all she needs now. I must admit, the price kept me from buying it sooner but, I wish I would have got it a long time ago. This is the solution for problem behavior. I highly recommend this product and it has been the only thing that has worked for her. It is so nice to have a well behaved dog. All the training she went through made a difference too. She had the knowledge, she just refused to obey until we had this collar. It is worth the price.

I had purchased a PetSafe PDBDT-305 for my Golden Retriever mix. After about 8 months of use, it was nothing but a battery eater! We researched the internet for a better unit. We purchased this one and couldn't be happier with it! The tone is loud enough that we can hear it, so we don't have to guess if it actually beeped. We have it set on "1" and it seems to be enough to get her attention. Others have mentioned how large it is, but it really isn't too bad. The collar has more than enough length to fit any size neck. We will have to trim off quite a lot. The remote is great! It is more ergonomic, the dial doesn't move so easy that you accidently set it on another number, like our previous Pet Safe Trainer. The buttons are easier to press and conveniently located. The neck strap is nice, too! It is nice to have a rechargeable unit! It will save us money in the long run. So far it has worked completely as stated. The range in much better than our previous unit, too! After searching for pricing, Amazon had the best price. We received it faster than expected. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone! Petsafe PDT00-10603 400 Yard and Park Remote Trainer
