My husband and I were looking for a way to keep our cat off the couch and another chair in our living room because she'd taken to urinating on both. This is the only product that worked in keeping her off the furniture. Its genius is its simplicity: no chemicals, no electric shock, no gates, no behavior therapy. Just a pad with a loud sonic alarm. We've purchased two in 6 months -it has saved our furniture. And it's one of the most affordable options in pet deterrents out there.

The pads have actually altered our cat's behavior. After a few weeks we were able to remove them from the furniture and the cat still stays away. If we make any changes in the home (move the location of the litter box, rearrange the furniture, change litter brands, go on vacation), we reintroduce the Sofa Scram for a week.

We used the first Scram on the couch and were able to hide it zippered inside the long couch seat cushion. We were a bit concerned that the cat might learn to step around the Scram we placed on the chair because it was visible, but no -she was not that smart. Cats jump onto the furniture, they hear the alarm, they run.

I love it.

This product is almost like the heart of a smoke detector except instead of detecting smoke it goes off when there's pressure on the mat. You can see the 9V in the video and hear the beep is somewhat similar (but monotone). You can also see it takes a little more pressure to set off on a plush cushion but there's no way a pet could lay on it without it going off.

I've also used ours on a deep picture window sill and it keeps the dog from jumping his front feet on that when neighbors are out (german shepherd likes to keep tabs on everyone!)

One of our dogs isn't terribly scared of the sound but doesn't want to set the mat off. The other dog doesn't want to be anywhere near it. Neither dog wants to lay on the couch with this thing on though so it's effective for both.

UPDATE: We are dog-sitting my sister's 14 year old black lab while they move and have a baby. This old, old dog has lost much of his hearing and the noise doesn't seem to bother him at all. It is alerting us when he gets on the couch which makes it easier to train him to stay off it (while we're home) but is not acting as a deterrent the way it does with our own two dogs.

This works great to keep the pets off the couch. Once it stopped working, I took it apart to find out why. The small wires that connect the 2 foil pads together break from rolling up he mat for storage. So, if you plan on rolling it up a lot, plan on it breaking due to wire fatigue. If you plan on keeping it unrolled, should work forever.

I have 2 English Matiff's. They are HUGE! My male thinks he can do what ever he wants. Hard to argue with a 200 lb dog! This mat is perfect and works. My concern was I thought once he got on the couch that the buzz (and it's LOUD!) would stop but I was wrong. As long as their is pressure on the mat it screaches! Very thin so when I come home, I turn it off, fold it and slide it under the furniture.

These flags are so small my dog wasn't even noticing them, defeating the whole idea of containment since she wasn't aware of the barrier. Now, in defense of the manufacturer, it's winter in Ohio and the ground is white with snow, making the puny white flags almost invisible. So I bought some plastic safety-orange 1" wide tape, cut 6 inch lengths and stapled them to the flags. That worked.

These flags are brittle plastic. They snap easily. I had to 'predrill' for every one with a screwdriver. The metal ones are much easier to install. On the other hand, the plastic ones are easier on the lawn mower. The picture appears to be the metal variety but that is not what i received.

When I initially installed the fence it came with wire stems on the flags (as shown in the picture when ordering) and the flags were larger. This last set I purchased were plastic and very small. I agree with another reviewer, the plastic is too hard to stick in the ground. I returned them immediately.

Wasnt impressed. It rotates on dog and if dog doesn't pull 100% of the time it gets really slacked and becomes cumbersome and useless. They need to build in a catch so it stays snug and only gets tighter.

I have a golden doodle who still pulls. I have only used the leash once because of being gone on a trip and lots of snow and cold otherwise, but I was disappointed that the leash didn't seem to do a better job than the harness I had used before. It worked fine as a leash, but didn't stop the pulling.

I have two dogs one is an 90 pound 1yr old German Shepherd, the other is a 18 month old 35 pound "miniature boxer." Walking either one is a constant battle of wills, more so with the smaller dog, believe it or not. Our boxer will pull, choke, and gag and that is while walking with no distractions. Our shepherd has his own agenda at times. I was skeptical of this product due to the price and also because we have used choke chains and prong collars before with no change in behavior. Well, I can't believe the difference this makes. Much more control and both dogs walk so much better now without the bulging eyes, lurching, gagging, and heavy breathing. The first couple times the dogs didn't know what to think and tried to shake it off, but seem to have gotten the hang of it after a couple times. Even with distractions such as rabbits, people and other dogs around, both are so much more well behaved. I gave it four stars because similiar to what another reveiwer mentioned, there should be some catch mechanism to keep the leash at a certain tension all the time, rather than becoming loose and flopping around when the dog isn't pulling the tension tight. Otherwise, a great product.

I had a few packs of these and they just don't last. If you Dremel the battery module you can replace the batteries inside yourself. I love this collar for my dog. It would have cost me thousands to put in a fence. A lab that loves her space. The batteries are worth every penny. We bought the extension along with the couch sized scat mat. It reached comfortably over to the chair because the cord is 12 feet long. We set it down without kitty seeing and waited. She did notice something was up when I leaned over close to the mat and my hair touched the mat. It made a couple snapping noises until I realized what I was doing. She was curious and jumped up to sniff. Boy, she didn't like that! She has not been on the chair since and will not jump on it unless we are sitting there and she wants a lap.

The mat is about as thick as one of those heavier plastic table cloths. It also "talks" to the main scat mat to tell if something has touched it. You touch the main box and it blinks the amount of times something has touched it. If you touch the box to check, it blinks once. However, if you touch it and your pet touched it once, it will blink twice. The cord attaches to the main box with 2 snaps, and it attaches to 2 raise snaps sewn on the extension mat. The extension cord is about a half inch wide and has a copper wire running down the each edge. The center of the cord is translucent plastic, almost like the mat. It looks like some of those older tv antenna or stereo cords. The mat is large enough to fit over the seat and part of both arms on our fat and fluffy recliner.

So after having owned the mats a week, our kitty is practically trained. She touched each mat only once and doesn't want to go in the chairs if we try to set her there.

So it may seem like a waste of money because you are spending so much for the mat and extension, but the money is well worth it to train a stubborn animal. You may end up spending less in the long run.

We just purchased 2 new couches and didn't want any of are pets to have full access to it like are last set. With in one week are dog doesn't even try to jump on are couches. Are cats are a little more stubborn but it does what it says it's suppose to do. Would recommend this product to my friends and family.

The cats hate it, but I love it. I bought a new couch and it is off limits to the cats. This product has kept the cats off the couch and they don't seem too upset about it. The first couple of weeks they looked for a way around the mat. They found a few gaps and made their way to the back of the couch. I bought a second one for the back and closed that gap. They seem pretty content to stay away now. When my kitchen renovations are complete, I will be adding a third one to place on the countertop. This has been a great investment. I wish I had found this product sooner.

Had problems with a rescue kitten, and his lack of litter training. For some reason he found a spot in an upstairs bedroom that really caught his fancy. I installed the scatmat with an extension and plugged it in. Tried it myself just to make sure I wasn't going to electrocute him, definitely got a buzz when I put my hand on the mat. I happened to be in the BR when the kitten came to visit, he hit the mat and for a moment nothing happened. And then he was gone, like a bat out of hell, hasn't been back to that spot, and seems to have decided that the litter box is the place to go.

I bought a pet training mat to replace one that was accidentally thrown away. The bottom line is that it works and I recommend it.

More info: I placed the mat across an archway between the dining room and living room to keep our fox terrier out of the living room. I originally used a 9v battery. Be aware that the shock may not occur every time the mat is touched because contact must be maintained long enough to build up a static charge. It can take 2-3 seconds. But that's okay, because the dog will eventually get shocked and will learn very quickly to avoid the mat. There were occasions when she would get so excited when someone came to the front door that she would run over the mat (without getting shocked) but then realize where she was and refuse to cross the mat to return. The battery eventually died, but the dog did not test it for months. After she realized that it no longer posed a threat, she was comfortable crossing it, albeit at a quick trot.

When I bought the replacement mat, I also got the AC adapter and the large extension mat. I'm not sure exactly how the charging/shock sequence works with the extension mat, but I figured it would make it even less likely that she could trot over both mats. After one shock, she realized that the power was back and has not crossed it since. And I have it set on the lowest of the three power settings. It works.

Cadet Training Pads for Dogs, 100 Count

The puppy pads are useful, but I have found another brand was more absorbant, didn't let the pee seep through to the floor like these did. Other than that, our puppies seem to be attracted to them, 8 times out of 10. The price is pretty decent too.

I usually purchase cadet from a local store and they cost slightly more so I thought I'd try these out. These pads were not the same quality as the ones I usually purchase. The others are more absorbent and much thicker and heavier material. These weren't even the size that I expected(they are about an inch smaller than the Cadet brand that I usually purchase). They served the purpose but I was very disappointed in the overall quality of the product.

Simple Solution Disposable 12 Diapers

I have a 15 year old cat who is getting less than accurate in his litter box finding ability (he's also blind). Rather than curse him several times a day for peeing on my 100 year old pine floors, I decided to try these diapers. It takes some experimenting to get the fit right, but they work just fine once you do. They will usually hold at least 2 pee incidents before they need to be changed.

Given that the #1 one reason cats are taken to the shelter is litter box abandonment, this is a way to keep an older companion and yourself both happy.

I have tried every sort of diaper for my Senior Maltese who is experiencing incontinence in her old age. I love that fact that you can reuse the unsoiled diaper with the diaper tabs. I have to say that in my case these were just the perfect solution! Since I bought them recently, I don't know what the issue with the tabs was, but they work just fine these days.

Here's the background...

I have a 19 year old kitty who is the love of my life (I know, can you say "cat lady?") and he recently became completely blind. :( While he doesn't suffer from incontinence, the place is relatively large and he often can't find his way to the box. So, after going around in circles or zigzagging the room for a while, he will finally just pee.

After the second time I saw this happen, I decided that I needed to try something quickly. I had originally purchased these about 9 months ago, for a diabetic cat I had who passed on last year. That cat wouldn't let me even try to get the diapers on him. He would fight and scream, you would think I was trying to kill him! But my little angel (I know, more cat lady talk...), being the adorable creature he is, lets me put these on him and it's been just wonderful.

He still circles the room a few times because I just can't convince him that it's ok to do it wherever he is, but he has been using diapers 24/7 and they work great. I usually change him a couple of times a day or so, one pack with 12 lasts about a week. The only thing is that it can be a little messy sometimes when solid things aren't quite as solid as they should be (if you get what I mean...), but I use these combined with pet wipes (that will become baby wipes once I finish the pack I am currently using, since he no longer grooms himself and I know he won't lick the chemicals) and it works just fine.

So, if you have a kitty and wonder if these would work, my certified cat lady opinion is that you'll be fine with these if your kitty allows you to put them on and doesn't remove them. I'd say an old cat who no longer grooms him/herself would probably be fine with it.

By the way, my kitty is very skinny due to his age, and he was a pretty normal average size for a cat (remember the cat in Pet Cemetary? That's what he looks like). If your cat is larger, you should definitely get a larger size or two. I haven't seen the small diapers, but from the size of the medium ones, I would think they are very, very tiny.

Before we found this product, we had a big mess on our hands, and all over the carpet. My husband was shampooing the carpet so much that the motor burned out on our machine. My daughter told me to look for doggie diapers. After I stopped laughing, I began looking. These diapers are definitely part of a miracle. The dog is happier since we aren't yelling at her for making a mess, and we are happier since we won't have to replace the carpet! Tattle Tale - Vibration Pet Trainer

My smart springer spaniel used to sneak on the couch at night but after hearing this beep a couple of times she knew she was "caught". I left it on the couch for a couple of weeks to reinforce her behavior and have not had to use it since.

As a bonus, the device (set on high) would also pick up on her bark and go off. I set it on a window sill that the dog looked out of and now she no longer barks as stray dogs, passers-by, etc.

My only complaint about the device is that there is no way to turn it off without it going off.

I was very hopeful that this product would keep my two cats off our dining room table. Nothing has worked in the past -neither sprays of water, nor aluminum foil, nor scolding them, nor citrus smells -nothing.

Here's what happened when I set up the Tattle Tale alarm. Cat 1 jumps on the table. The alarm (which lasts only 2 seconds and is relatively quiet -my microwave beep is louder than this) sounded. Cat 1 is on guard at first, then curious. He walks over to it. The "alarm" remains silent, even though it's supposed to be sensitive to any and all movement. Cat 1 swipes at alarm. It sounds and stops. He swats again, and it sounds and stops again. Then, he walks around the table for a while while the alarm sits silently. Finally, he curls up for a nap on one of our placemats about 4 inches away from it. Cat number 2, intrigued by the sound, hops up on the table. The alarm sounds. She goes over to it. Although she's sniffing it, prancing around the table, and stretching, it doesn't sound again. So she curls up for a nap as well. And there I am, watching the "Tattle Tale" oversee the afternoon siesta of the two felines it was supposed to scare off.

My guess is that it's not sensitive to most of the vibrations caused by cats' paws and that the 2-second, relatively soft sound of the alarm is not frightening enough to scare cats away. Even cats more skittish than mine, I imagine, could easily tolerate the benign beep eminating from this device.

Don't waste your money. I burned $6 on shipping and now have to pay a 25% restocking fee. And the cats are still on the table.

Well, this does emit a loud piercing sound, but only for a few seconds...long enough to make the dogs and cats look around, but as soon as they get a bit bothered, the sound quits. I think that this product might work IF it beeped longer. It was a total waste of money for me. Now I'm just passing it around the office as a prank...it's a hoot to use at work as a joke on unsuspecting coworkers.

It sounds like a description of a bad date: Hypersensitive and shrieks at the slightest disturbance. But for this product, that's just what you want. (Anybody who thinks theirs is quiet probably just needs a fresh battery!) It's a fairly simple device. My cats hate it, even though they're not the reason I bought one -I'm using it as an automated warning to my kids that they're playing too rough near my computers.

For my purposes, it would be especially useful if there was an adjustment not just for low or high sensitivity, but for vibration frequency for which it sounds an alert. Motion with a high frequency (like touching it) sets it off, but I can rock the shelf its on without setting it off. To use a water analogy, it's like the difference between the ripples coming out from a pebble thrown into a lake versus ocean waves, and I need sensitivity for the latter. Having that sort of adjustment would earn this more stars from me, but for its intended purpose it seems to work excellently.

Santa brought this for two labs and a yorkie. The labs were great with it and I'd rate it full stars for them. However, the yorkie saved his for later and then choked on his piece while eating it and was unable to pull it out of his mouth on his own. Wiki Wags Brand 12 Male Dog Disposable Wraps (Bellybands) and 12 Free Aloe Wet Wipes

We chose Wiki Wags when my fiancée was moving in with a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix who has a tendency to mark unknown things major concern for an entirely new place. We settled on trying these due to the sanitary/disposable design. Yes, they are similar to "extra long" baby diapers with a reinforced attachment tab that is more like Velcro than conventional sticky tabs.

The product has worked great. "Hercules" (the dog) peed in it all of once, and simply wearing the wrap has been enough to deter him from even attempting to mark. Although he spends most of the time out of it, he wears it whenever freely roaming the house. We use a different wrap every 3-4 days just to be sanitary.

We received one package from this reseller that had 6 wraps missing their tabs. One email to customer service at wiki wags had a new package shipped out to us the very next day! It's great to see a company that willing to stand behind their product.

I have a couple of male chihuahuas in a battle for who rules the house, leading one to start marking everywhere the other one plays, sleeps, etc. On top of that, he was a rescue that had not been house trained for the first two years of his life, so he had fairly regular accidents even before the marking began. I was looking for solutions and didn't like the idea of the non-disposable bands which require panty liners and continuous washing, so I decided to give these a try. So far, they are working great. Unfortunately, my little guy keeps going (I had hoped maybe they would deter the behavior, but no such luck so far). However, at least the problem is contained to the wikiwags no leaks or smells and they are so easy to put on and take off. The only negative (other than your dog looking embarrassingly silly) is the price. Given that my dog is in the first few days of use wetting 1-2 per day, these may quickly become cost prohibitive and I might have to settle of the washable ones. However, if your dog is more deterred from marking when wearing a band, such that these would last longer, I would highly recommend them! It is nice to be able to wash dishes, work out or run a 10 minute errand and know my floors and furniture are safe.

I have 2 small males and one female. The wraps worked great for keeping my guys from marking the house or store when out and about. Also they helped when my lady was in heat. Keeps the guys wrapped up, good job. The Velcro type tabs are a nice touch to easily take the wraps on and off.

When the guys have gone with the wraps on nothing has leaked out, everything is absorbed and dry when I take them off. Its been a real life saver.

I have a 6 lb Chihuahua that I recently adopted. He was 3 years old and intact so he was marking all over the place. I tried the Simple Solutions wrap from Petsmart as a quick fix but he knows how to twist and turn and get out of it easily. I then bought the Tinkle Belts off of Amazon but it slides back and then doesn't cover his peter.

The Wiki Wags fit him well and even though he can still figure out how to get out of it, it is less often. Some of the tabs haven't been the best and have fallen apart but they still work rather well. The tabs are the reason for it only being a 4 star. I usually get a day or two out of one if I make sure to take him out often. I like when he does pee in one it quickly absorbs and he is not stuck in the wetness. He did get fixed last week and I am still able to put these on him without it interfering with his sutures.

Now I only wish they would make them a little more stylish. Maybe some different colors or a jean fabric look.

My parents took a 2 month trip and left their Havanese with me and he is has been anything but easy to deal with. Not sure what his reason but he has decided my house is the place to pee. So since the Wiki Wags worked so well for my Chihuahua I bought them in a size small for my mom's dog. They do work and I'm happy that it completely contains his pee no matter how much he goes. I let them out every two hours and in most cases he still pees in at least one diaper a day. At first I bought one to make sure they fit, he went through them rather quickly so I bought 3 more packs. The new packs had very inconsistent manufacturing. I just started the third pack and in every pack I've had at least 80% of the diapers poorly made. The tabs are placed on the diapers in all directions and in different positions so it makes it hard to have a consistent fit around the dog. The name portion has been peeling off as well. I really wish they would take more care in the way they make these, they were perfect at first but the more I buy the worse the gets. Unfortunately, while my mom's dog is here I have no choice as my fiance refuses to let him lose in the house without a diaper and the cloth washable ones he wets through. At $13.99 a pack I think these are way over priced for the lack of quality as well. Luckily my Chi has stopped his marking and my mom's dog will be gone in a couple weeks and I will be done buying these diapers.

I can now only recommend them in an emergency situation but would continue to look some place else if you want quality.

I have used this product for several months on our yorkie. He weighs 14 to 16 lbs. He is 14 years old and has a slight incontinence problem when he sleeps. The small size just fits him. We do have to make sure it fits snugly around him or he does wiggle out of it if he has a restless night. I like that they are disposable. Wiki wags male wraps have suited our needs and we will continue to use them.
