I bought this carrier for my tom cat who weighs about 20lbs. If you are buying this to accommodate a larger/heavier pet, BE WARNED: the crate will FLEX under their weight. On several occasions, this actually caused the door to open and my cat literally fell out into a parking lot. On the final occasion of using this crate, it flexed and the carry handle on top simply popped out of place. I was at the top of a staircase when this occurred. Can you guess what happened? Yes, my cat, in his carrier, was tossed helplessly end over end down a flight of stairs because this crate does not actually hold up for heavier pets. I am also writing a letter directly to the company to alert them to this flaw in design.

This is an awesome carrier at an awesome price! Super easy to put together, and super sturdy. I haven't experienced the flimsiness with the door and having to bend the plastic that one of the other reviewers mentioned. Everything fits together very smoothly, and it's very roomy inside. The colors are very nice and it looks way more expensive than it was. My puppy is learning to like it, too.

One thing I will say is pay attention to the sizing. It says large, but they recommend use for dogs (or cats) under 25 lbs, so I wouldn't call it large and I wouldn't get it if you have a large breed puppy. It's fine for my puppy though, she has more than enough room and space to grow so it works for me!

Also, I highly recommend [..](who seem to be the only ones selling this for such a good price, but order it from Amazon because I think it's more expensive on their website last I checked!) I've made 3 orders from them now, including the one for this carrier, and they always have the lowest prices! The shipping is very fast too.

When researching a new crate for our Chinese Crested, I decided on the Petmate Kennel Cab. I checked all the sizing information (as clearly stated on the Amazon website) and chose accordingly. It fit our dog perfectly. It's not the sturdiest of kennels, but we only needed it for home use and not travel, so this is fine. It would have been a 5-Star review if I felt completely comfortable transporting our dog in it, in case we needed to travel with it.

I am so tired of reading poor reviews of products that people write when it's their own fault the product didn't work for them. Yes, this is called a large. Is it very large? No. But the dimensions are listed. Learn to research before buying and stop blaming the companies. It's your own responsibility to spend your money wisely.

Bought this crate at Petsmart, and after assembly, put my 5 lb puppy in and the bottom opened up and my puppy hit the floor. She limped the rest of the day. We again latched it, without our puppy inside, and it seems to latch, but when picked up, it comes apart again. The latches are defective. I contacted Petmate, told them of the problem, and sent pictures of the taxi and how the latches were not working. All they offered was nothing. Again I contacted them and they offered to send new latches. I explained this was a NEW taxi and thought they could do better than that, since Petsmart was out of them. They finally said they would send a new one to me if I provided them with a copy of my receipt and address. I did immediately because we bought this taxi for an upcoming trip and need it now. That was almost a week ago and I still have not heard anything from them. I called yesterday and left a message, and no call back. I would never again buy from this company. They have no customer satisfaction and their products are sub-standard. They were also unconcerned about the condition of my puppy. So if you care about your pet, buy from a different company and let Petsmart know about Petmate's customer satisfaction, or lack of!

UPDATE:

After filing a complaint with the BBB, I was contacted by Petmate and they are sending me a new taxi. Guess they don't like being turned in to the BBB. Now, will wait and see if I DO receive it, but I need it by Nov. 1 for a trip, and they say it will take 3 to 5 business days for it to get here, which will be too late? You'd think after contacting them weeks ago, and explaining my problem, they would overnight it. So, again, if you want a good pet taxi, built by a company who stands by their product, don't go with Petmate!

UPDATE:

After explaining 3 to 5 business days was unacceptable, since I first contacted them 10/11, and our trip is planned for Nov. l, and asking it be overnighted, we received it Sat., Oct. 29th. So, we finally did get our problem resolved, with the help of the BBB, but buying from this company is not worth the headache. Do yourself a favor and buy from someone else.

This is a fine lightweight kennel. Our small 14lb dog fits in it perfectly.

The door is a bit flimsy, by that I mean the pins that insert into the top and bottom of the box dont always line up with their holes, and you bend the plastic cage slightly to make it fit. No real problem with that, but it is a bit flimsy.

The collar is easy to see at night and the flashing lights are terrific. Beware though if you have a dog with alot of fur it becomes obscured very quickly. I can't see it on my black lab/retriever once she turns her head. Also, if you have another collar on and the dog shakes their head the lights can be deactivated. The actual collar close is very tight and tough on smaller hands or weaker hands but the light mechanism is very sensitive and turns off way too easily.

I like the idea of a collar that lights up... but the battery life is short and the batteries are not the cheap ones. Be prepared to replace the batteries about once a week $5 a pop. But they to light up nicely with fresh batteries and make the dog much more visable

Holt Walking Headcollar - Size 2 in Black

I gave the Halti head collar three stars because it was recommended to me by a trainer and because it did work. Our beagle is a timid dog, which led to some aggression caused by fear and by her being uncertain of her status. The Halti mimics the pressure that mother dogs put on puppies' snouts to discipline them and also makes it difficult for the dog to pull.

Molly's behavior was greatly changed on walks. In fact, it changed so much that it was sad. She walked solemnly and joylessly, looking neither to the left or the right. She hated the Halti, and we had to chase her down to get her to let us put it on. Even though it has been a year since we stopped using it, we still have trouble sometimes getting her to come when she thinks we are going for a walk.

Most discussions of the Halti emphasize that it may take a while for your dog to grow accustomed to it. Molly never did. In fact, we owned two because she chewed the first one up. Maybe it was just normal chewing, or maybe she was sending us a message!

Bought this after a friend suggested it. My dogs hated it at first. Still can't get one of them to wear it and it takes a lot of time a patience to get them used to it. We don't even use them anymore, it got to be a bit of a hastle. We got training leashes and they seem to be doing a much better job. The sizing.......you might want to get a size smaller than you think you should get. They do seem to run a little big. Not a bad product if you have a laid back dog.

I won't rant and rave about the benefits and drawbacks of using a headcollar each dog is different and responds differently to various training tools, and I'm assuming that you've found this product based off your own research and recommendations from trainers and friends.

The hard part is deciding which headcollar type to use. In the past decade, I've used several different headcollars, including the Halti, the Gentle Leader, the Petmate AKC Headcollar, and the Holt. In my opinion, the Holt is the sturdiest, most comfortable, and most flexible headcollar of the whole bunch, and is a worthy successor to my previous favorite, the Halti.

The Halti was, previously, the best halter for a very simple reason: it had side-straps on either side of the dog's face that prevented the noseband from riding up a dog's face and digging into the dog's eyes. It also worked without cinching the dog's mouth shut, like the Gentle Leader. However, the noseband was not padded, and while I made my own homemade padding for the noseband, it was at least very wide to prevent the material from biting into the dog's skin (unlike the Gentle Leader). The Halti generally came only in black, though colors could be found online. The Halti, despite being designed to function loose (and allowing a dog the full use of its mouth), often made your dog look "vicious" by wearing a "muzzle", particularly in the black color. Prior to the holt, this was the most comfortable.

HALTI PROS: comfort, looseness, prevents noseband from riding up, safety buckle connects to collar

HALTI CONS: limited colors, no padded noseband, can not be cinched tight for short-nose breeds

Gentle Leader Head Collar, Size: Small, Color: Royal Blue

The Gentle Leader, however, was the choice for short-nosed breeds. The Halti suffered when a shorter-snouted dog pawed at the noseband to remove it. The Gentle Leader's design cinched the dog's mouth closed with a locking mechanism, allowing it to be used snugly on short-nosed breeds. For standard-shaped noses, the cinching could be kept more loose to allow for more comfort. It did not have the side straps like the Halti, so it could ride up into the dog's eyes. The noseband was narrow and not padded (unless you shell out extra $ for the premium version not found in stores), so it bit into the dog's skin at the top of the nose. However, it came in multiple colors which helped it look less like a muzzle.

Petmate 3/4-Inch by 16-24-Inch Medium AKC Padded Dog Halter, Brown

New to the game was the Petmate AKC-branded headcollar. This came in many colors and was pre-fitted with a fleece padded noseband. The noseband color is always brown, and there are additional options for colors of the straps. This headcollar looked the least like a muzzle. However, the locking mechanism was not sturdy and would often slide, allowing dogs (even long-nosed breeds) to paw the noseband off their face. It also did not come with a safety strap to connect the headcollar to a dog's normal buckle collar (though one could be homemade very easily). It also buckles underneath the neck, rather than on the side of the face.

PETMATE AKC PROS: color choices, fleece padded noseband

PETMATE AKC CONS: loose & slide-able lock, no safety strap to connect to collar

Now, onto the Holt. The Holt is identical to the Halti except for two key features: a "camlock" and a foam-padded noseband. The camlock is a very tight locking mechanism that does NOT budge when the dog paws at the noseband. It is a great tool to keep the headcollar ON your dog. For short-nosed breeds, the camlock can be set tight and will stay in place. It has the same great features of the halti to prevent the noseband from riding up into the eyes, and the safety strap to connect the headcollar to a buckle collar. In addition, the noseband is padded with black foam material, not fleece, and is extremely soft and comfortable. It is sewn on the underside of the headcollar, and does not interrupt the color (can not be seen while the dog is wearing the headcollar). The Holt comes in a variety of colors, including red, pink, and blue.

HOLT PROS: extremely comfortable, foam padded noseband, noseband doesn't ride up into eyes, camlock keeps noseband in place even with short-nosed breeds, multiple colors

HOLT CONS: ???

If you are considering a headcollar to train your dog, I highly recommend the Holt for all breeds. It is a worthy successor to the Halti and addresses the cons of that headcollar.

Scat Mat Extension for the Electronic Pet Training Mat

We bought the extension along with the couch sized scat mat. It reached comfortably over to the chair because the cord is 12 feet long. We set it down without kitty seeing and waited. She did notice something was up when I leaned over close to the mat and my hair touched the mat. It made a couple snapping noises until I realized what I was doing. She was curious and jumped up to sniff. Boy, she didn't like that! She has not been on the chair since and will not jump on it unless we are sitting there and she wants a lap.

The mat is about as thick as one of those heavier plastic table cloths. It also "talks" to the main scat mat to tell if something has touched it. You touch the main box and it blinks the amount of times something has touched it. If you touch the box to check, it blinks once. However, if you touch it and your pet touched it once, it will blink twice. The cord attaches to the main box with 2 snaps, and it attaches to 2 raise snaps sewn on the extension mat. The extension cord is about a half inch wide and has a copper wire running down the each edge. The center of the cord is translucent plastic, almost like the mat. It looks like some of those older tv antenna or stereo cords. The mat is large enough to fit over the seat and part of both arms on our fat and fluffy recliner.

So after having owned the mats a week, our kitty is practically trained. She touched each mat only once and doesn't want to go in the chairs if we try to set her there.

So it may seem like a waste of money because you are spending so much for the mat and extension, but the money is well worth it to train a stubborn animal. You may end up spending less in the long run.

We just purchased 2 new couches and didn't want any of are pets to have full access to it like are last set. With in one week are dog doesn't even try to jump on are couches. Are cats are a little more stubborn but it does what it says it's suppose to do. Would recommend this product to my friends and family.

The cats hate it, but I love it. I bought a new couch and it is off limits to the cats. This product has kept the cats off the couch and they don't seem too upset about it. Had problems with a rescue kitten, and his lack of litter training. For some reason he found a spot in an upstairs bedroom that really caught his fancy. I installed the scatmat with an extension and plugged it in. Tried it myself just to make sure I wasn't going to electrocute him, definitely got a buzz when I put my hand on the mat. I happened to be in the BR when the kitten came to visit, he hit the mat and for a moment nothing happened. And then he was gone, like a bat out of hell, hasn't been back to that spot, and seems to have decided that the litter box is the place to go.

I bought a pet training mat to replace one that was accidentally thrown away. The bottom line is that it works and I recommend it.

More info: I placed the mat across an archway between the dining room and living room to keep our fox terrier out of the living room. I originally used a 9v battery. Be aware that the shock may not occur every time the mat is touched because contact must be maintained long enough to build up a static charge. It can take 2-3 seconds. But that's okay, because the dog will eventually get shocked and will learn very quickly to avoid the mat. There were occasions when she would get so excited when someone came to the front door that she would run over the mat (without getting shocked) but then realize where she was and refuse to cross the mat to return. The battery eventually died, but the dog did not test it for months. After she realized that it no longer posed a threat, she was comfortable crossing it, albeit at a quick trot.

When I bought the replacement mat, I also got the AC adapter and the large extension mat. I'm not sure exactly how the charging/shock sequence works with the extension mat, but I figured it would make it even less likely that she could trot over both mats. After one shock, she realized that the power was back and has not crossed it since. And I have it set on the lowest of the three power settings. It works.

Porch Potty Premium: First Automated Grass Litter Box for Dogs

I am leading off with my interpretation of the wildly disparate ratings on different potty solutions for dogs. I think that all potty options are totally dog-owner dependent. They are like leashes. You have to keep trying until you find one that works for you. Problem is, leashes are not as expensive as dog potties. Before the Porch Potty, I had one that was expensive, one that was cheap and one I made with heavy cardboard and an old rug pad. Because we don't have close neighbors and it was frozen in the winter, the cardboard one actually worked very well. When spring came I had to make a decision whether or not to replace the cardboard box. My dog and I agree that the Porch Potty works for us. It took a little bit of effort to move from the beloved frozen card-board box to the Porch Potty but the transition was made. I left both in place and gradually my dog began to use the Porch Potty. I was helped along but a few well-timed snow storms that covered both the box and the Porch Potty but even without that she would have made the transition. As she increased the frequency of using it, I (gingerly) removed the frozen cardboard box.

I think her initial reticence to use the Porch Potty is that it flexes. Dogs go on hard ground. The ground does not flex. This does. There is also a cant toward the drain. Because of the slight flex, if your dog faces out to do its business it is possible that the floor of the potty will flex enough to cause balance problems. For my dog it caused a bit of consternation and made it harder for her to do her serious business. She has gotten used to the flex pretty well but it is still hard to get her to do the big business but she is happy, happy to use it for her regular business. I would recommend putting two together for larger dogs. My dog is a medium size and it is a bit of a challenge for her to march around as much as she would like. Her strategy is to march around the outside of the box and then hop in. That may be important when you are considering placement size.

I like how easy it is to keep clean. The drain hose is just great. I don't imagine the catch basin would be perfect but if you could not use the drain hose it would be a reasonable solution. I did not get the training grass, largely because of the weather but also because I wanted her to learn to use the box in less than her picky-perfect way. The artificial grass is quite nice although really not exactly like grass as some have said. In a perfect world it would cost less to make a product like this. In the real world, this is a well made, attractive potty that seems like it will last a good long while. Honestly, I was surprised that she used it and I was surprised at how easy it is to maintain. Three cheers for Porch Potty!

Although initially my dog would bite this leash it was more like he was holding it in his mouth. The leash has been in use for quite a few weeks and the side seams opened up in one spot. the rest of the leash held up so i kept using it but now it's falling apart on many side seams. I had to get new leashes and considered this but the price was just too high so i decided to just buy cheaper ones and throw them away after my dog chewed through them. Surprisingly, my dog doesn't chew on the leashes anymore so i think this might have broken him of the habit. So you should consider getting this, breaking your dog of the habit, and then go back to the less expensive leashes.

Suffice it to say, the no biting part of the leash is a fallacy. Am I shocked? Nope, been here before with any number of items claiming they do a myriad of things. The good news is, it's very well made and I think I can do a few things with it. It's worth the money as a training leash. Red Pepper? NOT so much.

We use this ramp for our mini doxies to get in and out of bed, without worring about hurting their backs trying to jump.

It's very well built, light weight and sturdy.

This ramp would work for any type of animal from Chihuahuas to St Bernards. It's that well built and versital.

You can carry it from room to room because it only weighs a few pounds.

It's less expensive than other brands.

I knowingly took a chance buying this, because I wasn't quite sure it would fit my vehicle (a 4-Runner with running boards). As it turns out, it sits very nicely on top of the running boards (and has good grab) on either side of my vehicle, but the angle of the rear side doors blocks about 50% of the ramp width. This is no fault of the manufacturer; it just isn't adaptable to my SUV.

My dog will use it, but he gets a bit confused because the SUV door intrudes on the ramp path.

The quality of construction seems excellent. Even though the product didn't meet my particular needs, I give it five stars. You just need to make sure it is compatible with your vehicle.

I purchased this ramp for my 17 yr old Cairn Terrier, who has limited vision and hind quarter weakness. It allows him to come and go thru the front door and fits perfectly off to one side of the front steps (granite).

It's well built, light weight, and sturdy. It is also less expensive than most other brands.

Drain holes at the bottom would be wonderful, as rain collects there and the dog doesn't like to step in it. :{

Easy Walk Harness - Medium, Raspberry Pink

I have a very energetic 2-year-old Australian shepherd mix. She is an amazing, happy dog whose utter enthusiasm for life (and strong prey drive) compels her to chase squirrels, bunnies, deer, or any other miscellaneous wildlife we may happen upon. Because of this, she usually has to stay on leash for our outings. We've tried a lot of different "no-pull" products, and this one has definitely been the best. This is a nice harness, it is easy to fit and looks comfortable on the dog. It does not however prevent the dog from pulling. If the dog is pulling the D clip where you attach the harness just swings over to the side. If the dog wants to pull they will still do so. It is not a miracle cure for pulling.

This is such a wonderful product. We recently got a chocolate lab puppy who would get WAY too excited when we would go for walks and she would pull very hard, so hard that she would choke herself and gag when we would walk. These pads are big enough for my two indoor yorkies to use all day. They rarely miss because they are a great size and the absorbency is terrific, as is the odor control. They are also a great size for car seats to keep muddy paws off the leather after a long walk at the local nature preserve. this product was recommended to me by a friend. it is awesome! we tried everything to get rid of the pet odor in our entry way. nothing we tried worked until we tried this product. we shampoo'd the carpet with the carpet & upholstery cleaner and after it dried, we sprinkled some of the powder and vacuumed it up. it was unbelievable, the odor was gone and stayed gone!! we use the stain & odor remover on pet accidents and spills around the house and have had great success with removing any staining and neutralizing odors. i recommend this product to anyone that have pets and/or kids.

Best product, and for the lowest price of any similar product. Smells great and works awesome! We've had too much experience with pet accidents, so of course we've tried every product. I'm so happy I found this, and at such a great price. I like the concentrate for my carpet cleaner, and for making up several extra bottles for around the house. Can't go wrong! It works!

these products claim to eliminate most stains, i have some old oil stains on my carpet, i applied the spray and waited a bit, blotted, and it looked the same after it dried. i thought i might have to repeat, so i sprayed again, and again after i blotted, no real change. There is also a fresher dark stain, and even after 2 applications, I still see the stain. This is it, I'm tired of the overpriced shipping, not worth it. Just stick to whatever is in your drugstore or petstore. I feel like their products are diluted in addition to being cut in half as the carpet cleaner formula ran out after a very small pour.

Kawaii Spotted Pet Backpack Harness with Leash for Small or Medium Dog

This little pet backpack is great. It's super cute my chihuahua Roxie gets TONS of compliments on it every time she wears it out. It has enough room in the big pocket to hold one of her sweaters rolled up just in case it gets cold out and some treats. It also has a small pocket I use to hold some clean-up bags for when Roxie goes #2.

It comes with a leash, but for me it's kind of short. I'm used to a 6ft leash so I can give Roxie more flexibility when I'm not being strict about her walking on heel. This leash, while cute, doesn't let her roam far enough when I allow her to explore but can't let her go off-leash.

However, the quality wasn't completely perfect. The straps weren't sewn on perfectly. The left strap was actually much longer than the right one. At first I adjusted them so they were the same length, but the longer strap would loosen and Roxie would be running around with the backpack drooping to the side. I ended up altering it myself because I can sew, and now it's perfect but for just under $24(including shipping) I thought at least the straps would be even. There were also lots of loose threads on this, but a quick few snips and the backpack was looking clean.

Overall, I am happy with this tiny backpack. It's so cute, has enough space to carry what my dog needs, and doubles as a harness. I'd have given it 5 stars if the straps were sewn on evenly, and if the leash was a bit longer.
