So, I have a beagle. She's a perfectly lovely little dog, but can be quite hyper at times. Ok, more than hyper, she can be crazy. Particularly when the rest of the family comes in in the afternoons. She jumps all over them, runs in circles around the house, and takes a good hour or so to return to non-frenzy state. I gave her one of these little calming treats today and voila, no jumping, no running. She was still her normal happy self and has been playing as normal, she just isn't wound quite so tightly after having the treat. She accepted the treat willingly without me having to hide it in anything. (But if I am to be completely honest, she is not the most discriminating eater, so make of that what you will.)

Bought these for my 3 year old, 90lb chocolate lab (field breed, not english breed... aka the super crazy labs). Had to leave her unattended in a friend's house while we went out to a soccer game, and have used them SPARINGLY when we visit friends and she needs to be mellow for a few hours (despite walking her, playing fetch and dog parks, she will still jump around and get into everything).

When she eats them, she tends to be very mellow and more likely to nap than whine, bounce around, or otherwise get into everything. I would give this 5 stars, but I really dislike the idea of medicating a dog for its natural behavior/energy/curiosity on a regular basis. She is a lab they have a ton of energy naturally. Also beware the energy spike when these wear off. Your dog will want extra attention/exercise when these wear off.

But if you need a mellow dog in a pinch (leaving them unattended in a strange place, visiting dog-shy relatives or friends, these will work. Just follow the directions on the bag and don't give them too much.

This is one of four calming products from Pet Naturals with the same dosage ratio of key ingredients per ten pounds of pet weight: only the size of the soft chew varies in three and the fourth is a liquid. ALL WORK BEAUTIFULLY on our four pets and better than the compounded (& expensive) drug amytryptalline (sp?) prescribed by our vet. The liquid may have a convenience advantage, especially for pets whose weight falls in between the listed weight categories. The liquid is more expensive, however, and would have to sell for about $14 to equal the serving cost of the larger chews. Most economical is the product for medium-to-large dogs ($6-$7 for 21 chews) but requires slicing the chews into smaller bits (completely doable, by the way) for pets under about 40 pounds to get portion sizes to match the manufacturer's recommended dosage. I surmise that the manufacturer's recommendation is based on the worst-case scenario (sensitive pet and acute stressful situation). For less taxing situations/pets it would be entirely reasonable to begin with a milder dose (say half or even a fourth) and work up to an effective level. We have four 10-pound pets, two of which have aggression issues: one out of jealousy and the other defensiveness; the third is skittish and over-excitable; the fourth (the mom-cat) is generally cool but gets a little frayed by the others' behaviors. I slice the larger chews into about 20 bits and add a bit to each of the two protagonists' three daily meals. This gives me about 7 dosage-days per cat per chew rather than 4 days at the recommended level.

This smaller dosage regimen seems to work just fine for these behavior issues for these pets. I may try reducing the dosage even further after the two antagonists have achieved a noticeable attitude adjustment. The product does seem to work better on the jealous/aggressive pet better than on the defensive one. I had noticed this same phenomenon with my DIY herb mixtures (chamomile, peppermint, fennel, ginger, etc.). They seemed to have more effect on the pet with genetic/developmental aggression than on the one with learned/protectionist aggression. The Pet Naturals formula, however, works noticeably better on both pets than my homemade concoctions ever did (Well, just as good and it tastes worlds better, say the pets). ONE NEGATIVE: The liquid is 3.8 oz not 4 oz. as advertised. Small but unnecessary discrepancy. MORE POSITIVES: the pets LOVE the product; it is non-addictive; and (naturally!) natural. The only time it is not effective in calming the pets is after they get a good whiff of the stuff and before you can give it to them. During this interval, THEY GO ABSOLUTELY NUTS. And STAY NUTS until the aroma (and product) is out of range of their senses. IRONIC, huh!! According to the people at Pet Naturals the product has no dependency issues and the ingredients are completely "natural". The colostrum is the bovine variety and said to be hormone free. I did not ask (I did not WANT to know) how they harvested this natural colostrum. Also per Pet Naturals, the calming effect takes about 30 minutes to engage and lasts about 4-6 hours. Again, I suspect this is based on the more intense end of the stress/anxiety spectrum. In our case, the "bits" of reduced dosage last from meal to meal, which is at least 8 hours (and sometimes a little longer--I know, the pets think we are irresponsible too!). We have only had one bad fight since starting the regimen about two weeks ago and it was CAUSED BY the product!! (retraction later). We were comparing products with the pets in the same room (same bed!) and our jealous one got a whiff. She got very excited and persisted in pursuing the aroma thru the closed containers. This apparently broke the calming power of her meal "bits" and within a half hour she ambushed her favorite target sibling viciously (well, it sounded vicious). So WE were the CAUSE of this attack, NOT the Pet Naturals. Had we given our keen-sensed one another small "bit" (and put the stuff away quicker) she probably would have settled back down and resumed her repose. CUSTOMER SERVICE at Pet Naturals deserves accolades as well. I spoke to two reps there (one actually in sales) and both were just EXCELLENT; probably the best customer service experience I have had that I can remember (should I mention my memory loss problem?). They actually sounded like they were enjoying helping and they actually did with their knowledge of the product and with actual experience in using the product. For instance, they knew the "user satisfaction" level that the product designers shoot for: namely a minimum of 80% and that their products typically achieve a 90% user (pet) acceptance level. In our case, it is 100% (& possibly 110%). I am also testing the liquid formula as a flavor enhancer for appetite-challenged pets. So far the aroma of the calming liquid (and the "bits") is easily lost when mixed with food (even dry nibbles) or water or chilled. I generally feed our pets dry nibblers floating on about an ounce of water. One of our pets has renal failure and the accompanying diminished appetite. Adding the "bits" or liquid drops to her food does not seem to improve her appetite level. I would have expected a dramatic effect based on how appealing the products are to our pets if fed to them out of hand. I am not through with the "enhancer" experiments yet, so I may add to this review later if I have something new to report. I am also testing other calming alternatives, one in particular from VETS*BEST, and will compare the products when I write a review on this other brand. There are still other brands of calmers out there but, having found some that work for us (and at an affordable serving-cost), I do not plan to check these others out. So if anyone could extend the product comparisons by bringing in others they have used in side-by-side trials with Pet Naturals or Vets*Best it would be immensely helpful to future seekers of pet (and human) calm.

Our small 12 year old Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix gets dog really excited every time we take the 3 hour trip to our vacation home. She starts stressing while we pack the car like she knows where we are going and she doesn't want to be left behind. We go about once a month and she pants almost the entire way, driving me crazy. We have given her these to her 3 times and each time about 10 minutes later she is calm and then goes to sleep for most of the trip. It's great! She is not doped up and likes the taste very much. I highly recommend these.

I bought this toy as a gift for my brother's new Pug puppy. The Pug is about 7 lbs, and starting to teethe. He absolutely adores this toy, as does the adult 6 lb Chihuahua. I think it would be good for a dog up to 15, as the package states. It is slightly rubbery and bends, so I am not as concerned about the toy hurting the Pug's teeth. He was able to get the little treat part out in a day or two, that part is refillable though. He likes to play with it even with no treat in it. After a week of chewing on the toy, it has only the tiniest of little marks on it from all the rough play. Great little toy for small breed pups. It says you can freeze it, we haven't tried that yet. It might be nice and cool that way for a teething pup.

This is a must have if you live within the city limits, have fussy or close neighbors in proximity to your yard, or have a strict home owners association that prohibits excessive dog barking. I am a lab breeder and own 3 of these units. I am very pleased with the performance and function of this product because it stops "nuisance barking" by administering a minimal buzz that gradually gets stronger the longer the dog barks the lowest setting delivers your common "prankster hand buzzer" volt. And if your too squeamish about buzzing your dog, there is a "lemon spray" version of this exact brand that also works well too. Instead of delivering a buzz, it puffs a lemon deterant near the snout. For more stubborn dogs, the buzzer seems to work better. In no way is this harmful to your dog, but rather more humane discipline than verbal or physical correction by you, the owner. I believe all dogs are pleasers and want you to be happy with them. If your dog doesn't have a bark collar, most people tend to over correct or not be completely steady in the level of correction being a swat on the hind end, hopefully nothing more abusive, or other methods. The end result is your dog barks when your not around. That's why these collars work so well, it adjusts and corrects only as needed, and with as little force as needed, and will never over correct, or over punish, like we humans sometimes do when we're angry or sleep deprived due to a BARKING DOG!!!! By using this bark collar, the dog, in a sence, is making a choice whether or not it wants to continue barking incesantly, which is a much better training technique. This collar will still allow them to bark, don't get me wrong, but the ongoing nuisance barking will cease. These collars work great and allow more opportunities for us to reward the dogs for good behavior instead of correcting them for barking constantly. You'll love your dog more and he'll love you more too by being a good owner and keeping everyone happy. I would definitely buy more of this brand if my other units get damaged somehow.

I gave this product 5 stars because it definitely works as advertised. Be forewarned, however, that your dog's reaction may vary greatly from others. We purchased two. On the one dog, it worked great after a few weeks of training, she stops barking as soon as we take out the collar and stays silent. For this dog, the device is worth it's weight in gold! The other dog, however, had very bad experiences when she is shocked, she cries (she has a weird bark/cry/growl), but the device thinks she is barking and continues to zap, and she becomes a wreck. Thus, we can't use it on her, but on the other dog it works great.

A few other notes: it works by detecting vibrations in the dog's neck, not by sound (ie, another dog barking won't set it off), so the collar needs to be tight. If a dog has thick hair, it may not work as well. It will also take several weeks to train your dog properly with the device the instructions indicate that you can't keep it on for more than 12 hours at a time or the dog may develop a rash. Thus, you will have to work the collar into your routine, putting it on and removing it based on your dog's bark patterns. Finally, the shock is definitely not painful (you can test it by rubbing it against your jeans, it's just a static shock), but your dog's reaction to this may be different from others. With this in mind, I do highly recommend this product! Good luck!

My recently adopted, very excitable dog has had the collar on a total of

maybe 3 hours over two days. Already, *without* the collar on, he has

absolutely stopped barking at (a) the vacuum cleaner, (b) the neighbor's

perpetually yapping (instigator) dog right on the other side of the

fence, and (c) squirrels (real or imagined) in the trees behind the

house. The transformation is absolutely beyond belief. Get over any "I

don't want to hurt my baby" thing you may have going on I did too -

and buy this product if you have a barking problem. I'm floored by how

that training isn't complete at this point but I've seen instantaneous

Added 2 days after my initial review it gets better! Tried this on my other young dog, adopted a month or so earlier, who is pretty good about barking except while I'm preparing her food. Then, she barks like crazy and runs back and forth. It's cute and no problem at my house, but it's not cool when we're visiting my mom's apartment in a retirement community. I stuck the collar on her before starting food prep tonight and got two (count 'em!) barks during the entire prep process. Normally I wouldn't be able to count the frantic, nonstop barks during food prep. This change was astonishing.

I have become more aware of the need to be on top of things since I have two relatively young and energetic dogs. They may go from a "barking's not good now" situation (barking at the fence at passerby) to a "barking's OK now" situation (chasing each other around the house) pretty quickly. You need to be ready to take off (or put on) the shock collar at such transitions during training. But I'm finding that even occasional concentration on this is yielding bigtime resuts faster than I would have ever believed.

When my husband suggested that we get a bark control collar for our Pitt/Australian Shepherd mix, I nearly cried because I knew he was right. She was disturbing the whole neighborhood with her barking, and we knew that our tolerant neighbors would only be tolerant for so long.

I searched for hours doing research, trying to find the right collar, and I decided on this one for one main reason: it gives increasingly more intense corrections every time the dog barks, and it has an automatic shut off in case the dog freaks out.

When it arrived, the first thing I did was try it on myself. I wasn't going to put something potentially harmful on my dog until I knew what it felt like. The first correction feels like a small pinch, not even equivilent to a shot at the doctors office. Truly just enough to get your attention. The second correction is probably equivilent to a shot. The third got a little squeak out of me, and the fourth was clearly painful, but not enough to make me uncomfortable since the first three were so slight.

After that, I put it on my dog and waited for someone to knock on the door. When they did, she barked once and got a really confused expression on her face. She barked again and tried to sniff the collar. She didn't bark again. When we put her outside, she tested the collar, as I expected. On the third bark she gave a short cry and stopped barking. Ever since that test, she has only gotten to a third bark twice, and that was when a strange dog came near her fence.

Overall, I am VERY satisfied with this collar. After only 5 days of wearing it, she is generally bark free without it. We only put it on her now when we are gone for the day, as this means she is outside for a longer period of time than she is used to.

I highly reccomend this collar to anyone who is considering this type of devise. I think that it is an excelent and humane teaching tool. There is another review below from a pet owner who claims it was very painful when she tried it on herself. The only reason for this I can think of is that she tried it on herself before the collar had a chance to reset itself back to the minimum correction, as her dog was in distress when she took it off.

I'm a trainer who was skeptical as to whether this rather low-priced collar would be effective on a German Shepherd, but I'm pleased!

My dogs aren't nuisance barkers, but are territorial and didn't like getting a new neighbor & sharing our fence with his dog. I bought one collar for my female the 'lead' barker. After just a few zaps from 'God', she got the idea and no longer barks. The gradual correction levels give her warning enough that she sometimes still gets off a bark or two before pushing her luck. and she's still able to whine a grumble a bit without getting corrected.

MOST IMPRESSIVE is the fact that the collar somehow wound up in a cooler at our Christmas party, submerged in water for about 3 days before it was found. It still worked perfectly!

I'm getting a second collar now for my male, who has decided to take over where the female left off. While I still have some additional problem solving to do to keep them from running at the fence with the neighbor dog, this collar at least keeps it quiet and less aggressive.

I don't believe this type of collar will solve every barking problem, but for my target issue, I'm pleased.

I would have given this one star, but the extra star is to indicate it could be a good product for someone who has a dog that doesn't chew anything at all, or that has lost all it's teeth and only gums it's toys. For us, it didn't work at all. One throw and the doodle pup (10 mo. old Labradoodle) had it torn open and was happily eating the soft rubber tube that makes up the outer ring of the disc.

The fabric is a thin canvas that tears easily presenting the enticing rubber ring. "Melon Style Soft Bite" is a good description, since the puppy went through it as if it were a soft melon. On the plus side, he did enjoy it immensely for those fifteen minutes, but a nice Filet Mignon would have been cheaper.

This thing is great! The original, the best. My only regret is not springing the extra ten bucks for the 12". Yes, the 10" is ok but it was the 12" we started with (this is our second purchase of one of these) and somehow it seems to throw easier. Of course we may not be the best frisbee throwers! Our pit 'hops' to it whereas she 'runs' to get a ball so right there the entertainment value excedded the cost.

This Frisbee was the reason I was able to teach my lab to catch a Frisbee, she is now obsessed with this one so I have to keep buying her more! All of the other discs were too hard for her to catch or didn't fly well enough for her. I have tried other "soft" floppy disc look a likes such as the toys R us brand and it is junk compared to this one. I have 1 for the dog park, 1 for the house, and 1 for a reward when we train and these things last forever. I would still have the original one I bought 3 years ago if it weren't for losing it at the dog beach this past summer. The price on amazon was great, and the petsmart by me went to the toys R us brand instead of this one so I continue to buy these on amazon.

It looks nice! From far away I get compliments all the time. You really can't tell its a prong collar until close up. I have it on my pitbull and he doesn't seem to react to it the way a regular prong collar does. Might be more suitable for smaller dogs.

This collar is the best of a half dozen we have tried with our Rottweiler, who is still in training. It does not cause him pain but apparently just enough discomfort to help him decide that chasing that other dog probably isn't worth the effort. After a week or so, I realized that he realized that the human next to him was now in control. Training has gone very smoothly after that breakthrough. He is a very smart animal and if there were a way to get around this collar, he would have figured it out by now. We often leave it on him (loosely) for a day or two (not wanting him to associate it exclusively with training or a walk) with absolutely no ill effects. Highly recommended for any resistant trainee or hard to control dog on a walk.

it started going off whenever and where ever, shocking my dog at any time. It then went off and wouldn't turn off shocking my dog constantly until I took the collar off her neck. Glad I was home at the time.

it took awhile but I carefully placed the wire in the ground as directed and the wire was broke in many spots, plus it was easy to tangle like fishing line. the wire was to thin and not nearly strong enough. I bought 14 gauge wire which I reconmend and placed in the ground as a replacement. The reciever works but the distance at which the collar activates varies greatly. The two collars that came with this both broke in the first week of use. It's plastic loops broke and when water got on it, it stopped working all together save your money get something else.

Walking my large dog is now safer and more enjoyable.

I just tried this on my 70 pound plus mixed breed, somewhat hyper dog this morning and it was a pleasure to actually WALK! The gentle sideways pressure on the lead restrained her when she bolted forward and we actually had a nice 30 minute walk. So far, the "test drive" results are great! I read about using a harness of this type in Dr. Patricia McConnell's, "Feisty Fido" book and thought I'd give it a try. It was not a problem to use-she didn't do the "dog down on all fours", refusing to move like she did with the Gentle Leader. She also seemed to be easier to control which was an issue with the harness that fits under the front legs and the leash attaches at mid-shoulder. Maybe this is the answer-I hope so!

works exactly as discribed. Thought shock function didn't work but it needs to be turned up to about 5 before it's noticable. Using it to keep my 7 mo old standard poodle from running out the front door at the liquor store I work at. I've been terrified she'd end up a poodle pancake in the busy hwy my shop is on. The tone function is enough to distract her from distractions outside and distresses her enough that she comes behind the counter and lays down. Awsome.

I agree with another review in that too many biscuits are broken when they arrive at my house. BTW I had the same problem buying them directly at the store.

I have fed my dogs these biscuits for about 25 years. The dogs love these biscuits but the real reason I feed them is because they are the hardest biscuits I have been able to find. The dogs take a long time to eat them and have to do a lot of chewing. This cleans their teeth. Since I started feeding these biscuits not one vet has suggested that my dog's teeth needed cleaning. I've probably had 5 or 6 dogs in that time and 5 or 6 vets too. I figure what I've saved in cleanings has more than paid for the biscuits plus the dogs like the biscuits.

One thing worth noting is that my dog's diet is more than half dry food; I don't know if a dog on a wet food diet would have the same success.

I have been giving this bisquit to my dog. Tired of buying the bag frequently, I searched for a better deal online for 20 lb box. I got the box cheaper than buying equivalent amount of bags even after adding shipping cost. My dog loves this bisquits. Only problem, though it is minor. was that there are more broken pieces than good conditioned bag product. It is understandable but I hope there are less of that.

These are large and hard biscutes, great for a large dog. But I have little dogs and for them to eat these I have to break them up because they are a bit to big for their size. This works well and they enjoy them.

These dog treats are great. Our dog loves them! They're on the smaller size as far as dog biscuits go shaped like peanuts in the shell (and are a little larger than the actual size of a peanut). We particularly like them because they fit perfectly into a medium sized Kong toy and because they are shaped like a peanut you can shove them so they get kind of stuck in the Kong and it takes the dog a while to get it out.

The assortment is a little more expensive, but I feel good about offering "the girls" a variety.

My only complaint is in the packaging. Many of the treats end up broken.

Surely there's a better way to package.

I needed a new leash and I chose this one because of the color and the length. I really like how far my puppy can get, but I hate that there is not a lock feature! Sometimes on long walks when we cross streets and things, I want to make sure he is right next to me, so I wish I could just flip the lock.

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on this leash! I just started using it the other day and have had nothing but problems with it since day one. It does not reel in and out properly and gets stuck at certain points. This causes my dog to get tangled in the part that does not reel back in. I had a different brand of this same type of leash for at least the last five years and never had any problems like this with it until it gave out. Also, it is a joke to say this lead is reflective. You can bearly see it at night. It might as well not have any reflective coating at all. I will never buy another product of this brand name for my dog!

Kawaii Spotted Pet Backpack Harness with Leash for Small or Medium Dog

This little pet backpack is great. It's super cute my chihuahua Roxie gets TONS of compliments on it every time she wears it out. It has enough room in the big pocket to hold one of her sweaters rolled up just in case it gets cold out and some treats. It also has a small pocket I use to hold some clean-up bags for when Roxie goes #2.

It comes with a leash, but for me it's kind of short. I'm used to a 6ft leash so I can give Roxie more flexibility when I'm not being strict about her walking on heel. This leash, while cute, doesn't let her roam far enough when I allow her to explore but can't let her go off-leash.

However, the quality wasn't completely perfect. The straps weren't sewn on perfectly. The left strap was actually much longer than the right one. At first I adjusted them so they were the same length, but the longer strap would loosen and Roxie would be running around with the backpack drooping to the side. I ended up altering it myself because I can sew, and now it's perfect but for just under $24(including shipping) I thought at least the straps would be even. There were also lots of loose threads on this, but a quick few snips and the backpack was looking clean.

Overall, I am happy with this tiny backpack. It's so cute, has enough space to carry what my dog needs, and doubles as a harness. I'd have given it 5 stars if the straps were sewn on evenly, and if the leash was a bit longer.

So far this seems to be working well. If I have any quibble, it is the nylon the collar is made out of is really cheap.

This and the indoor radio fence are keeping my counter surfing pup out of the kitchen. I had to turn it up the 2nd intensity level for her to react to it at all. Now, she hears the warning noise and if she stays too long her tail tucks and the leaves the room.
