I always carry training treats when walking my dogs, and I also use them during training sessions at home. These are the only ones I've found so far that I like (my dogs like just about anything!). They are easy to break into even smaller pieces and don't crumble. If you leave them in your pocket overnight, they dry out but they don't get mushy and gross, which is great because I always seem to do this! Sadly this stuff is sooooo hard it shatters when your pet tries to chew on it. Our Bernese didn't finish it, and thank goodness. I can only imagine how terrible this rock hard tendon is on a dogs digestive tract. It is seriously the consistency of very hard plastic. It breaks into shards and slivers which dogs will be inclined to eat in whole, given that they can't chew it into something smaller or more manageable. Not advisable for your pet's digestive health.

If you are taking your pet on an airline, this is the only pet crate we could find that was truly "Airline Approved".

Most airlines require a plastic kennel that's bolted together with plastic or metal treaded screws (knob, clamp and clamshell locks are strictly forbidden on almost every airline), not top loading, allow for at least 1.5" of clearance from the sides on all sides, and vented on four sides.

I breed and raise Great Danes, and this kennel is a wonderful addition to the house. It is big enough for a teenager, and makes them feel secure and safe. Much easier to clean than the wire ones, and you can travel with your giant dog on some airplanes. Too large for any but the biggest planes. But if you work to find an aircraft large enough to accomodate the mammoth size, you can take your friend where ever you go in this crate.

My seven year old lab has escaped from metal dog boxes and pretty much anything we have put him in for any length of time. This crate is the only crate he has not been able to escape from because of the twist lock on the door. I have used this crate with him for 6 years. I also use it for my three other dogs. Although this crate may be seen as being more suitable for a medium sized dog, our small dog much prefers it to the smaller crate. She has enough room to be comfortable and turn around without difficulty but not enough to allow her to soil her sleeping area. She has no difficulty walking in there now when it's time for a nap or when we need some time to do chores where we can't watch her as much as we need to. It works well as a transport crate and makes her feel secure and comfortable when she's in the car. An all around good product.

I was very excited when I saw this advertised on TV. I looked it up online and was happy to find out that my local Petco carried them in the store. I live on the top floor of an apartment and have a Chihuahua. I've never been able to take him out as regularly as I'd like, so he has been puppy pad trained for years. I thought this would be a nice alternative to the costly puppy pads and also be a little more eco-friendly. As soon as I set it up, my dog was drawn to it. He crawled on top, sniffed around, but did not go. No worries there. I figured it would take a little re-training. Sadly, on this first attempt when he started to hop off of it, the grass top flung from underneath him and scared him. He then urinated on the floor next to it. I knew immediately that this product was going to take more than just a little re-training. It was going to take some additional "engineering" by me to make it work. I had already paid top dollar for the large pad and felt it should be better quality for the price I paid. I packed the product back up as neatly as I found it and returned it the same day to Petco. They completely understood my issues with the product and gave me a refund. This product honestly does have true potential for apartment dwellers and pet owners who just aren't able to get their dog outside as much as they'd like. The price does sound steep, but if it had worked it could have paid for itself in 6 months because I wouldn't be going through puppy pads anymore. Unfortunately, I felt it was very cheaply made and not completely thought out.

I got the potty patch for my little chihuahua but she will not go near it. I've tried to stand her on it and she jumps off and runs and hides from me. I have left it in my room thinking that she would get used to it but she totally avoids it. I don't know if the texture hurts her feet or what. I have another dog that is 60 pounds but I think she is too big for the patch that I have. Besides, I'm afraid that she will eat it. I guess there is just no substitute for good training which right now I don't have the time or money for. I would love to know if it has worked for other people with a chihuahua and how.

Neat 'n Dry Dog Training Pads -Large Size are the best doggie wee pads I have ever used. The small size is a bit too small (even little dogs need room to sniff and circle), but the large is perfect. It is the most absorbent pad so there is no puddle under the dog's feet while she is peeing. The borders are also good which is important to me because my dog often pees near the edge, which is a problem when the pads have a plastic border so that the pees runs off and onto the floor. These pads are good even along the borders (as long as the dog doesn't totally miss the pad alltogether).

My stay-at-home dachshund and Yorkie are very spoiled for cleanliness and these wee-wee pads hold more moisture with no scent than the cheaper brands. I find it very convenient to have a latrine at home and use about one or two pads per 24 hours for back-up bathroom purposes. The small size is fine for small dogs and the price is very good in this package format.

Tried a lot of other brands and this is the best by far. "Neat n Dry" says it all. These pads are super absorbent, and they turn urine into a gel. Translation = no more drippy messes. The size is just right for my dog too. I have a Havanese who only weighs 14 pounds, but even little dogs need room to move around. These pads are expensive though, so most people like myself will try cheaper brands first. None were much better than using newspapers though, and I wasted a lot of money in finding that out.

I received this product about 3 days ago and by far these are the worst puppy pads I have dealt with. I literally put up the pee pad before bed and waked up in the morning to pick it up and noticed it was soaked underneath. I have bought several different brands over the years. I never had a pad before that if I go out for the day to work, When I get back home I go to replace the pad and find soak through the bottom. I am just grateful I have tile floors. Let me preference this, this is used by a small dog. Most of her pee spots are size of a dollar coin. On the other brands of pads she has pee on, Hartz, Arm and Hammer, Nature's Miracle etc, I have never had this issue before. It has been reasonable for me with every other brand to be gone for about 10 hours, come home, pick up the pad and not have it soaked underneath. I really have to question a lot of these recent positive reviews. Maybe the positive reviews from 4 years ago dealt with a better quality of product but this pad does not live up to any reasonable expectations, especially after buying about 5 different brand of pads that never had any soak through underneath. If there is a review you are looking for to trust, trust mine and trust the negative ones. I do not do product reviews and in order for me to get on my chair to post one this product has to be absolutely the most dreadful item I had to dealt with in this product's category.

Save yourself a headache, do not buy these pads. It really angers me that a product that average's 4 stars burnt me so badly.

We previously used these pads when they had different packaging and were much less expensive and the pads were great. They raised the price and must have done something to the quality of the pads as they are TERRIBLE. My little 5 pound dog's pee goes right through them onto the floor (which defeats the purpose of the pads) and has us cleaning the floor numerous times a day (defeating the entire purpose of the pad). I find it hard to believe that nobody can make a pad that is actually absorbant enough to handle a little dog. I was actually thinking of trying to double up these pads to see if that way the floor is not soaked so often. These pads were a complete waste of money and were some of the worst pads I have ever used. I strongly recommend that people use other pads as these were TERRIBLE.

ROK Stretch Lead

I bought this leash the other day thinking it would be great for my growing German Shepherd cross pup, who at 7 months old is over 60 pounds. I wanted something that would stretch to absorb shock, but also not pull me along so much when my dog takes off. Despite my pup being young, he certainly has a strong pull.

He hardly stretched this leash at all. Instead what happened was I was still getting pulled along, but could not pull back to slow him because with that extra force it finally did start to stretch. So in other words I lost all control, but still got dragged forward.

It did eliminate the jolt, and it is certainly a very well made and strong leash. For a really strong dog I imagine it would do a little better. That, or maybe if I had gotten the size leash made for a smaller dog it would have had more give when he pulled.

Overall a very nice leash, but just didn't work for me.

I bought this leash as an alternative to my retractable leash for my 20 pound Xolo and now find myself using it on all our walks. The handle is very comfortable and easy to hold. The leash is a good length--some might find it on the short side, but it won't drag on the ground, which often happens with smaller dogs. The flexible mid-section is what really sets this leash apart from others. It provides enough give to be flexible, but enough resistance to discourage constant pulling and it helps to soften the impact of sudden lunges courtesy of our neighborhood squirrels. Like the handle, the stretchy section is easy on the hands. The loop towards the bottom is a great way to keep your dog close and under control when needed. My dog walks fairly well on a leash with some tendency to pull and lunge when excited. If you have a sled dog wannabe, I'm not sure how this leash will work, although I imagine it would still be an improvement over conventional leashes.

After seeing the price I was a little leary. I have a (very old) Persian who "leaks". He lives in a four story kitty condo that has been impossible to keep clean. Pee pads saved me with my dogs that couldn't make it through the night (and during the housetraining process). Reluctantly I lined the condo with the pads making life much easier. Pee pads (or wee wee underpads) are a lifesaver but very expensive. The ones I used initially were almost a dollar a pad!!! I was spending almost $400 a month on pee pads! I tried alternativestrash bags with paper towels taped on top etc.) but there really isn't a substitute. Always in search of a bargain I came across these (and the alternative size from the same company). They were worth a try.

It took a while for the delivery (checkout didn't request a street address which was required) but it worked out. Shipping seemed high but the pads are compressed and the boxes were heavy. The pads themselves look identical to the ones I'd used except they are softer (the other ones I'd used made a crinkling sound which made the cats love to play with them....they were always in a heap). They are great.

They aren't intended for animals. I'm guessing they are used in the medical industry. I have learned over the years that sticking a cute dog on the box means ten times the pricelesson learned from paying $10 for a box of $1 pantyliners). I don't need the marketing or the hype.

This company has been a godsend. I honestly couldn't justify the enormous expense of Berckley's problem. He's otherwise healthy and a beloved part of our family. Cheap baby wipes and these pads have saved us all.

They don't absorb the smallest little pee from a a small breed puppy! (shih tzu!!).

My previous pads he could pee multiple times. With this pad he pees once and it can't even absorb that! It creates a puddle that he steps in walking off the pad and gets the pee scent on my carpet due to it being on his paw.

These wee wee pads are absolute garbage. First,they are irregulars, seconds or thirds, so you never know what you will find when you open each pad. Second, they are so thin that they hold nothing. So, you have to use 2 when one should do the job. They are flimsier than tissues, won't stay in place, and are basically useless.

Like most people who are disabled but have pets, I am constantly trying to find a reasonably priced product that works satisfactorily. I have a very well trained 18 lb Llasa Apso who is neat and careful using her wee wee pads and never has an accident. Even she is unhappy with these.

Further, the shipping costs over $15 per box is outrageous. They were not particularly swiftly shipped, the 2 boxes were coming apart in transit, and the product inside is the worst I have seen in 2 years of buying these. They are not even true to size both the entire pad (plastic) and the supposedly absorbent padding are smaller than they claim.

Amazon should drop this product and maybe this seller, although I have not tried any of their other products, nor would I be foolhardy enough to do so.

My cat had me at wits end. He wanted to be on the counters all the time. I'd come home to find cat litter on the counter which is gross. Tried using the xmats which have plastic spikes on them (he got used to them and walked all over them). Then I decided he would not win the war and got one of these shock pads(the shock is mild depending on how you set it). All it took was one time jumping on this and he got the surprise of a lifetime. He stays clear now. The secret is to put it where the cat likes to jump to then once they learn to avoid that spot move it to the next place they choose to jump up to. I think they remember the spots to avoid (at least my cat did). This product is made of cheap materials but it works and thats what counts. I highly recommend to owners of stubborn cats.

I've owned a smaller scatmat for years, and can't say enough good things about it. For keeping our cats away from places they shouldn't be, it's 100% effective. When it came time to protect a larger area (our cats scrabble at our bedroom slider for hours on end which is fine if you don't require sleep), I shelled out for this larger mat but beware, the mat you will receive is not the one displayed in the photo or described in the product narrative. This (different) model is branded "petsafe" rather than "scatmat," and the controller is "paw shaped" rather than rectangular although the shape of the controller makes no difference itself, this particular variety does NOT have a three-speed intensity control (as promised, and as does the original "scatmat"). This is important to me because the single setting offered in this model is quite a jolt maybe not harmful, but more than I want to subject my little cats to, even once. I keep my original scatmat on the lowest setting, which is just fine. This "new" mat also seems to work erratically after it discharges it won't discharge again for some time, usually minutes. The controller is also difficult to figure out and use (and yes, I read the manual), and is very non-intuitive. This is a far cry from the original easy-to-use scatmat with the rectangular controller and three-speed setting, and I'm puzzled why Amazon is not sending the item described in the photo and product description. I sent mine back (easy enough), and was lucky enough to find an original scatmat on another site more expensive, but worth the price. And tonight I sleep.

My husband and I purchased our first home last year a 1908 fixer-upper that captured our hearts. We decided to choose design themes and furniture from the Art Deco and Machine Age eras. We are the proud parents of two very ornery Siamese cats, one seal point and one flame point. They are the loves of our lives, but oh how they love to test us. However, one of the ottomans in our new furniture set was just too tempting. Within 24 hours, we found claw marks up and down one edge of the ottomans, clearly the target of focused attack. I started with cat lover/owner forums. Most of these focused on the sprays and oils that didn't work, and "just getting used to not having nice things if you want to have cats in your home". We then focused our reading on this product by Contech, noting that it rendered high reviews and was safe to use. We ordered two.

They arrived within two days and we were quite excited to put them to use. We placed one on the couch and one over the ottoman that had been clawed. Being huge fans of all things 'new' entering the house, the cats were immediately interested. The female cat investigated the mat on the couch, stepped on it gingerly, got the static charge and took off running never to set foot on any part of the red leather furniture to date. The male Siamese was fascinated with the mat that was draped over the ottoman. He sat next to the ottoman, placed his paw on the mat to prepare to hop onto it and gets zapped. He looks at the mat incredulously, as if to say "What the..?" Then does it again. Twice. He finally decides that the static shock isn't worth the trouble and he can't outsmart it. He leaves the room and sulks. Finally we found something that works!!

We rearranged the mats on the furniture over the coming week (one on a chair, the other on the couch then one on an ottoman, and another on the back of a chair) to keep the kitties guessing. It has been the most effective indoor pet deterrent we have ever seen. The great thing about it is, once the pet learns the specific lesson (stay off the couch!) it can be rolled up to be used another day with another application (stay off the desk/counter/vanity!). There are even long, narrow mats that can prevent the pet from wanting to enter a room (place on the floor across a doorway). I bought a prong collar from the pet store. Then I researched them online and read that the Herm Sprenger collars were better quality and had rounded edges that were better for the dog. This brand was highly recommended by animal experts. I returned my store bought collar and bought this one. First of all, I definitely like the snap-on feature. It makes it so much easier to put on. I use this with my 2 70-lb labs. I clip the leash to BOTH rings so that it does not tighten, but still works as they do still feel it if they start to pull. This works for my dogs and is the recommended way to start using this type of collar. If needed, you can then clip it to only the one ring so it tightens. From day one, they have stopped most of their pulling. I also have treats that I put in my left had and give them while we're walking every so often, so that helps. They now walk by my side for the most part. I used to HATE taking them on walks. I've taken them every day this week and it is actually enjoyable now.

As it was explained to me by my vet and by trainers, large dogs have very thick muscles and skin in the neck. Because of this they barely notice any correction/pulling action that you make when training. Most dogs will learn to walk with any type of lead after enough training, but if something unexpected comes along you might have a hard time maintaining control if your dog is large and strong. Regular chain choke collars are more uncomfortable for the dogs because it catches their fur in the links, even if they are not pulling. This collar simply applies a more direct pressure, which the dog notices, rather than the constriction of a chain choke collar.

Because I live in a rural area with deer, etc. my vet suggested that I use this collar so that I'm not pulled down by the dogs if they attempt to chase other animals. Even the most well behaved dog can get overly excited with the natural instincts kick in. My dogs used to do some pulling at the start of our walks with a regular collar. With this one they don't make any attempt to pull at all. They have never shown any distress with this collar on, never pulled, never any injury, nothing. It hangs loosely around their necks while we walk. They absolutely do not mind wearing it at all. They sit patiently and wait for me to put it on. They walk nicely right by my side with no tension at all on the leash. If you purchase this collar remember that you only put it on before the walk and take it off after. No choke or training collar should be left on all of the time.

I've always used a pinch collar on my Doberman. Recently I moved to a higher traffic area, downsizing his yard, and getting the old collar over his head for every outing was not working for either of us. This accomplishes the easy on/off, but I'm a little disappointed. The prongs are not as rounded as his other collar, and it has come unlatched before when we were on a walk which is scary. Wouldn't really recommend this particular one, especially for the price.

After four anonymous complaints from the neighbors which brought the police to our house we finally decided to do something about it. I researched the heck out of these things particularly after reading some of the horror stories in the reviews of the other collars. Short story: the dogs are finally behaving themselves.

These collars have 3 different ways to program them. One, the collar increases the shock level beginning from the lowest level when your dog starts barking and then escalates eight levels until the dog stops. It then remembers the level necessary to stop the barking and commences at this same level the next time your dog begins barking. This is the default program, but my wife and I found it too punitive.

The second program begins at the lowest level and escalates until your dog stops but reverts to the lowest level next time your dog starts barking. This is the program we use.

The third program gives him the same shock each and every time he barks. My wife and I preferred what we considered the most humane program, number 2, and it works great. The collar requires a sound and a vibration to buzz the dog which theoretically reduces false discharges.

I directly compared this to the Tritonics and the Remington, both of which worked fine. The Sportdog was rechargeable which is what ultimately sold us and it had more different ways of programming the collar for the ultimate in flexibility. The Tritonics only shocks at one level. The Remington included programs 2 and three but no escalating shock found in Sportdog's program 1. Since we don't use program 1 that would not have been a problem. The other reason we went with the Sportdog rather than the Remington is that the Remington, though theoretically just as good, is new to the market and I could find no reliable user reviews.

For our dogs, you must remember to put the collar on or the darn mutts will begin barking again. My wife wanted our dogs to continue barking while in the house for the additional security and that has been no problem.

Your dog will take some time getting used to the collar and may behave a bit neurotically until they figure out just what the heck is going on. To reduce the level of neurosis, use program 2 which gives them a chance to learn and is less punitive.

I have 3 dachshunds who bark at the least little thing. I live in a Townhouse so my neighbors are right next to me. When I let them out in the yard they immediately start barking non stop. I have tried spray bottles, other bark collars, shake a can with coins and nothing stopped my 3. Since I did not want to buy 3 at once I decided to try out one collar. So I ordered the collar and it came in 3 days. The collar is well constructed and heavy duty. I thought it was too big at first for my dachshunds that weigh 16, 13, 11 respectively.But once I got the right fitting it stayed snug on them. The strap is very long and strudy. There is so much extra strap that it curls up because it is made of a heavy vinyl material. Might cut the excess off. I tried it on the worst of the 3 Gracie. Well to my surprise after fitting it on her and using the temperment setting one bark and I saw she was startled but that was the last bark she made while the collar was on her. Two hours went by and not a peep. I think she has to get use to it because she is a little skiddish now.Does not want to go outside without me with her but I am sure after a while she will be fine. Next I tried it on Zoe. I had the same results. No barking while collar was on her. I was truly amazed. The one with the collar on did not bark while the other 2 did. I bought this collar for a Siberian Husky and it has worked very well. Huskies have thick hair (which was not an issue; the collar worked as designed) and howl rather than bark. This collar took my huskies separation anxiety howling down to a very manageable level.

My husky quickly figured out the decibel level that wouldn't trigger the collar, a whine/wimper level, and kept relatively quiet. This kept my neighbors quite happy!

One improvement I would like to see in this collar: Show me when and how much correction was used in my absence. I really do wonder if she is getting constant corrections throughout or makes a bit of noise at the beginning and quiets down. Or if she is not being corrected at all anymore.

I tested the collar on myself before putting it on my dog. This was terrifying because I had to actually put it on my neck and bark to trigger the vibration and noise sensors. This collar (on levels 1-4) did not hurt me at all. Know the feeling you get when you are in a shopping mall and touch the escalator arm rail and get a quick static electricity zap? I researched for days to make sure i purchased the best no bark collar. After all, who wants to spend 50.00 on something that may not work like you want? This collar is worth every penny! I have a barky 2 year old german shepherd. I put this collar on her and one zap is all it took! she no longer barks at everything and anything! I like how this collar is rechargeable and has an indicator light for low batterys. the tree bark control settings are nice, so you can choose which one may be right for your dog. my only complaint is it has a very long bit of collar that hangs off. we had to use something to tie that down so my newfie doesnt see it as something fun to chew on. I purchased a petsafe 50.00 collar in the past and was not happy with it. This one works!

We have a ~9 pound dachshund named Sara, and she would continuously bark at every little sound (or lack thereof). This was a major problem because we live in an apartment complex, and I work from home. It's impossible to get things done with a dog barking all the time. Scolding did nothing to deter her barking, and it seemed to be getting worse... so we bought this collar. I almost got a cheaper collar, but then I discovered that you had to buy special (and expensive) batteries for it that didn't last long. It also only had vibration detection, so there were reviews of false-positives. This collar is excellent though, with a rechargeable battery and both sound and vibration detection. Our dog hasn't had any false shocks.

But she got the idea pretty fast, and two days in, the excessive barking is gone. She still barks on occasion when there is a distinct knock on the door, but usually only 1 or 2 barks. And of course, we take the collar off at night, or when we're just playing... so she doesn't get the wrong idea. Just follow the owner's manual, and it should work great.

I own 2 SD 1850's and this collar works fine exept when the dog is is run point mode it doesn't stop beeping when the dog moves after a moving target right away. If the dog starts to run it wil stop but if the dog starts to walk it wont stop beeping right away. I use it it training and on 2 trips to South Dakota with the same results. I contacted SportDog and they sent 2 different beepers, no change. The stimulator part of the collar works great. And I really like the vibrate or tone features of the collar. This allows you to give warning to the dog that a shock will follow if the command isn't obeyed. Would I buy another one? probably

OK, so here's the deal. The collars use to come with standard batteries that you could pick up at the store for about $5.00, but PetSafe decided they could make much more money if they sealed the batteries in a "Easy to replace" cartridge and charge you double the price of regular batteries. I was VERY dissatisfied with the life of their batteries and the cost, although I love the performance of their system. As a result I carefully filed down the top of their battery cartridge so that I could extract the battery in it. I then found a replacement battery online. The cost for a battery for my dogs collar was $12.50. I found I could replace the battery inside the sealed unit for $4.00. Needless to say, I am once again a fan. So here is the tip: Take a worn out battery unit out of your dog's collar. Carefully file away the plastic lip that holds the battery in the unit. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and remove the battery and then identify the battery type. I have two dogs that wear these collars and they take different batteries (one is a Boxer, the other a mini-Shnauzer). However I have found that I can replace the batteries for one-third the price that PetSafe asks for battery replacement. Other than the battery issue, these collars and fence syatems are awesome!

Ok, I listed "better range" as both good and bad, and it is. It's an improvement on the old collar, so if you're replacing or have a new fence system, that's great. If you're using this collar in conjunction with an old collar then you can expect one dog to have a slightly bigger (about 40ft diameter) roaming range then the other. We have a large yard so it's not an issue, but in a smaller yard, I can see where it could potentially become a problem.

All in all, a great product, good, sound construction, and the PIF wireless system has been great for us. The new collar has some advantages and disadvantages to the original one that shipped with the system, but most of the changes are good. The collar (and the system itself) is definitely worth the money for its ease of use and for keeping your pet safe. Amazon has it cheaper than I've seen it anywhere else online.

Implemented according to directions in manual & accompanying video with original unit (previously purchased for first dog). Second dog benefited from consistent training and made appropriate associations with limits provided by flags. New version of collar allows varying degrees of negative consequences; this improvement proved helpful with training. Flags included with original unit are needed for use in training with 2nd unit. If such flags are not retained, orange utility marking flags can be purchased from a home improvement store. They are taller, brighter and come in larger quantities for less money than a new set of PetSafe flags. PG

Remington Orange Chest Protector for Dogs

I ordered a large based on the weights 61-85lb. I have a large Pointer who weighs 78 lbs. It did not fit him well at all. It rolled and rubbed in all the wrong places. I think maybe a medium would have been better for him. Maybe if he was shaped like a lab it may have worked but with the deep chest and narrow "waist" of a pointer it just didn't work.

I don't use this vest for hunting but I do use it to make cleaning her easier. I have an 80 lb golden retriever, and after a snow or rain she kicks up alot of dirt and water on her underside when I take her out for a walk. She is now protected from all that dirt and rain with this underside vest. It is 100% easier to wipe her down now, I wish I bought this earlier. I receive many questions and comments about this vest when I take her out, I would highly recommend it! It's cheap, it's lightweight and it makes it easy to clean her dog!
