We have 2 mini Dachshunds male and female. Female (10) is a short hair and responds easily. We show her the controller and she stops barking. The male,long haired is 6 is stubborn and doesn't remember what happened the last time he barked! He usually responds to the warning but when I have to use the "blast", he is OK for awhile but will bark again. What am I doing wrong? I got a 6 week old Chiweinie puppy....too young to take out to the ground yet so bought 2 of these pads. He took to them instantly and rarely has a mishap. He is 8 weeks old now and has 3 pads down that I change out with clean ones as needed....about every 4-5 days. They have not leaked once. I placed them in the first 3 places he wet when I brought him home...each bathroom and his play pen. He goes to them each time he needs to go. PETCO Dog Training Clicker

When I found this product I was ecstatic over its cheap price. However, when it arrived, I clicked it about five times and it broke! Now it clicks only sporadically, which, needless to say, is completely useless for clicker training. I ended up buying clickers from Karen Pryor's website. They cost a dollar each, but operate with a button mechanism, which I like a lot better. So far so good with the new clickers.

Missus Olde Hippie, (MOH), was 46 back in 1995 when multiple sclerosis put her in a wheel chair. 1n 2000, she got a Golden pup, as a pet, wondering about the possiblities. By the time he was 2, Rufus was beginning to anticipate her needs, sensing her body language, pressing his body against her hand, saying, "grab hold, I'll help you stand", and so much more. It was training time. I searched and found a simple figure of 8 halter, a padded strap that looped around his neck and his torso. And I picked up a cheap clicker at Petco. He caught on by the third click, and as her MS became Parkinson's Disease, her needs increased rapidly; and Rufus was always ahead of us, asking, how should I handle this new problem, and this new problem. Rufus died on her birthday, 2 years ago; he's in a Pet Semetary, a converted raised bed garden in the back yard. Pushing up the dozens of daisies I planted for him. By this time, the P.D. had confined MOH to a hospital bed in our living room, P.D. meds quit working after several years, so I needed another dog to help me help her. Long story short: The dog rescue network found 2 year old Mister Darcy, Great Pyrenees Mountain Dog, in a shelter in Georgia, and dozens of strangers chipped in to deliver him, 1000 miles away, to his 4th home. An unwanted shelter dog, he was at MOH's bedside 20 minutes after entering our home and he hasn't left MOH since. She is the herd that he was born to watch over, a million years of DNA told him just what to do. And the clicker? He figured that out by day's end. She wears it on a wrist band, and even when he's out back relieving himself, he hears that loud, simply constructed, Petco clicker and comes running. The design reminds me of a child's toy from another age. It's 10 years old now, but still sounds off loud and clear. We've tried the slick, submarine shaped versions, their sound varies from soft to medium, no two are alike, even from the same six pack. I'm thrilled to discover I can replace it, happy to pay the shipping, which is cheaper than the gas required to drive the 60 miles to Petco. Karen Pryor's contributions are beyond words, but she hasn't put her name on a clicker yet that matches the performance and durability of this old relic. MOH now has leukemia, she'll only need a clicker for another year or two, so whatever I order today oughta last her.

ok I didn't buy it from amazon, but I use a lot of clickers for dog training,, the sit stay basic box clickers work well and don't bend or break and fit the hand right. Clients hated these, they were too big for the hand.

Do go to the store to buy this product though. There is a lot of variation in the positive feel of the click and the volume of the sound. I've used a bunch of button clickers and they all are quieter and the spring on the button wears faster than the clicking sheet. don't over complicate this choice, get on of these simple box clickers, they just work the best. love my petco brand one because I got to go into the store and pick the snappiest one. Really loud positive click!

don't waste your time or money on this. Its not worth it. line was thin and breaks alot. Shocked my dogs all the time even in areas where it should not have. Now my dogs are scared of going outside. Thanks for making my life a living hell.

Wire is very thin and breaks easily and didn't work when we buried it like instructions said. We ended up running our along the block wall. Battery covers on shock collars fall off easily. Has shocked the dog a couple times randomly when she wasn't near the wire, but has pretty much served its purpose and is a lot less expensive than other systems.

Used to connect your perimeter wire to the transmitter box and also to connect internal `no-go' zones to the rest of the perimeter without creating a boundary line (so basically anywhere the wire should not trigger the collar to issue a correction). Ready made pre-twisted wire is available and the best choice if you need a long length but you can also make your own. When twisting dog fence wire, you should aim for at least one twist for every inch of wire. Since twisting the wire will shorten the overall length you'll want to start with a piece that is about four times as long as you need the finished twisted piece to be. Fold the wire in half, secure the looped end to fixed point and then twist (to do it by hand) or tighten the two free ends in the grasp of an electric drill for quicker results. When the wire is twisted just cut the looped end freeing it from whatever you attached it to.

Upon reading the reviews of both the old and newer revised version of this mat, I ordered this new version and my parents are very impressed with the easier use of the controller and how much more effective this mat is at keeping their cat from scratching at the bedroom door at night.

In comparison, with the older version (paw shaped controller), the cat behaved as though it was a joke... with minimal but satisfactory effectiveness. This mat works perfectly, but it does seem though that my dog has figured out that when the mat isnt there physically, she knows that it wont shock her then so she goes back to doing what she was doing before. so the mat has to stay there permenantly looks like.

I had trouble with one of my dogs' collars recently, and was told if I used any batteries other than the ones purchased directly from them, it would void all warranties. dog got out (first time that had veer happened) took collar off and tested it by walking towards fence, no beeping... replaced batteries and worked like it supposed to... Its just to bad the "real thing" is so stupid expensive...

This product was a replacement for a previous unsatisfactory product of a similar type. I was silly enough to believe the description. First, this product is the SAME manufacturer and design of the previous unsatisfactory product. Its features are identical even though the external design is slightly different, everything else is exactly the same. Next, the documentation and instructions are incomplete and in some ways indecipherable. It took me a long time to figure out some features and I am still uncertain about the operation of the device. Finally, even though the product is working, its function is inadequate to get the attention of my stubborn old mutt on full power. It works, but I think one should shop a little more carefully than I have.

Our Bichon really likes these little treats. We use them as a potty treat. We like that there are no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.

The reason I'm not giving this product a 5 is I'm not quite sure what it means when the package labeling states "manufactured in the USA." It's unclear to me whether that means all the products used in the treat also are original to the USA. Since the labeling is unclear, I'm not willing to give it a 5 until I know more. NOZTONOZ Sof-Krate Indoor/Outdoor Pet Home

We purchased two of these crates for our 60 lb dogs over 2 months ago. The 42" size is quite large, in fact, both dogs can sleep comfortably together in one. The crates are like cozy, mini tents and my husband and I joke that we'd like to sleep in them. They are very light to move around, and easy to fold up or down.

We've had two problems. One is that our newest dog (a year old puppy) chewed through one of the zippers within the first week. We solved that problem with some training, and we still use the crate with that opening against the wall. So obviously not for chewers.

The second problem is the most concerning for me. Other people have mentioned the smell... I can't state this strongly enough these crate smell like a petroleum product. We initially had the crates in our great room, and sure enough the smell seemed to go away after a few weeks. We recently moved the crates into our bedroom and discovered that in fact, they do still smell. Strongly enough that I'm concerned about the effect on our dogs overtime. We usually don't zipper the doors anymore, so the dogs can come and go as they please and they are still choosing to go in their crates (like I said earlier cozy!). But the smell bothers me, so I can imagine how it must bother the dogs who have a much more keen sense of smell.

The prices on these crates keep going down (other websites sold them a while back retail for $180) so I would imagine that they are aware of the smell problem....

Great crate for our golden puppy. He slept in it every night until very recently.

Easy setup, and very durable. Our boy is a chewer, and he's given up trying to chew on this crate.

Seemed very large when we first got it, but now his paws brush the sides/back when he stretches out. He's about 7 months old and 55 lbs, so is not yet fully grown. You might want to consider the 42 inch model if you have a dog that will grow to 70+ lbs.

I highly recommend this crate for dogs who don't mind being crated, as it would be very easy to break free if the desire was there. My dog loves his crates and typically lies in them for naps when he isn't even required to. He really seems to enjoy this one, especially with the ability to open the top and side. It is lightweight and easy to travel with (handle included). I bought this to replace my previous collapsable crate which is all steel and too heavy to haul around. It has a nice appearance to it too. The only complaint I have with it is the "new smell" which I am hoping goes away soon. My dog doesn't seem to mind it, but I can't stand it. Overall, I'm extremely happy with it and highly recommend this crate.

Great for traveling. Yellow Lab has plenty of room and she is almost 60 lbs. Only concern is that she could tip it over if she tried hard. Overall I would purchase again.

I bought these crates for my Sheltie puppies. Having had dogs for the past 30 years, I have owned all kinds of dog crates, and these are by far my favorites. They are sturdy and attractive (for dog crates), fold down small enough to be handy for travel, and are easy to fold and unfold. One of my favorite features is the door on top, which is so convenient for puppies--much easier to put them in and out this way than to crawl on the floor reaching into the back of the crate. Also, two side doors mean that the crates have easy access wherever they are placed in the room or the car.

My dogs aren't heavy chewers, so I can't speak for how well these would hold up for big dogs that chew, but they seem very sturdy, and have withstood plenty of scratching from the inside without showing wear. I expect to be using them for many years to come.

UPDATE MARCH 2013: Still using these for our Shelties. Perfect traveling crates, easy to fold up in the trunk of the car and set up in hotel rooms. Have recommended to all our friends with puppies and get great feedback from them, too. Still our favorite crates by far, still holding up well after many trips.

Steel Coated Dog Collar in Teal

This is just a superb collar at an excellent price point. For training I will always prefer a martingale collar and haven't worked with a choke collar in tht regard in years. However chokes have their value and these are excellent.

The links are huge 4mm so they look great around my bulldogs necks, they're like line backers we have a six year old and an eleven month old puppy. The collar is well made, the links are beautifully even and well finished. Most important the glide of the mechanism is smooth and effortless and releases immediatley.

As for the color it pops like crazy! it's just gorgeous against Elvis's (the puppy) snow white coat but the 26 inch is a bit to long for him so we'll either remove a few links or wait until he growns into it, which atthis rate shouldn't take long. We ordered another one of these collars in black for our oldest "Harley" and it's equally well made and stunning in every way.

Nice product but these run small. I recommend buying the next larger size and remove links if needed. It is also important for people to use these collars properly. They should be used as high up on the neck as possible, NOT down where a regular collar would typically sit. This will assure you are not choking your dog or damaging their larynx. It matters how you put them on. If you walk with your dog on your left, hold the collar and attached leash so it makes a letter "P" not a letter "Q" as you face your dog. Putting the collar on properly will insure that it releases and loosens when you ease up. The collars really should not be called "choke" collars. They only choke when misused. A dog should NEVER be tied up to a choke collar, even if you are just going in somewhere for a minute. They should only be used with a leash, and only by people who know how to use them. It should just barely fit over your dogs head without hurting on the way on. If it is too small it will go on but be very hard to take off and may hurt your dog's ears on the way off. Remember this is not a device to help you win a tug of war with your dog. It is a device to alert your dog that you do not like what she is doing or about to do. It should be used with a quick tug and release to the side. It is to interrupt their thought process or fixation. For example as you approach a dog coming towards you and your dog is going into an excited or fixated state, give a quick tug towards you to get have your dog focus on you and not the approaching dog. Or if your dog is constantly dropping her head to sniff at everything, especially food scraps you should give a gentle correction as she BEGINS to drop her head. These are great devices to train dogs to know when it is time to "Walk" and when it is okay to sniff or do their "business."
