This is my third one (in six years) and I really like how it works. We used it for puppy training to keep our dog nearby or attached somewhere and also for walks. I also use it for running handsfree. It's starting to wear out and we're getting a new puppy soon. I also like Sara's book plus others for training.

WACKYwalk'r Dog Leash - Large - Black

I purchased this product at a PA Dog show almost exacly a year ago. At first, I was absolutely thrilled with the performance of the product. My dog (a 10lb bichon/toy poodle mix) is usually a well behaved walker, but can get excited and pull at time. This leash helped to reduce the frequency of the pulling and, due to the elasticity of it, the stress of the pulling on my arm. If I had written this review six months ago, it would have gotten 5 stars.

The problem is that, after owning the product for a year, the elastic which attaches the leash to the collar clip is almost completely frayed. I could understand this lack of duriability if it had to deal with a powerful dog, but again this product was used on a 10lb dog. Also, becuase the interrior elastic is the same colour as the exterior elastic, it was hard to see the damage without close inspection.

Due to the lack of duriability, I did not purchase another Wacky Walker to replace this one, however I was pleased with the product during its short lifetime.

My young dog (lab/hound mix) fantasizes to be a hunter thus she's a puller. She gets excited whenever she finds birds or squirrels, and rush to those small animals even in the middle of a busy city street. So I tried this leash on her, hoping this would reduce the sudden impact from her pull and somehow discourage her hunting instinct.

Yes, thanks to the rubber-like elastic material, it reduces the impact on my elbow somewhat, but for a real puller like my girl, you need a strong, non-elastic, rope-like leash to better control the dog. This leash (I bought size Large) is so much heavier in weight and thicker than other types of leashes, this leash cannot be squeezed into my small waist bag when not in use at city dog runs.

I think I will leave this leash in my drawer till my dog gets older to slow down. For young energetic doggies like mine, I found this product not too useful.

I have a 60 pound dalmatian that pulls a lot. I purchased this leash, size large and found that when he reaches the limit, it really hurts my arm and back. He has adjusted to it (a little) but not what I expected. Maybe with time, he is 5 years old and needs lots of running time. I have found that after a long walk or run he is better on it. But when we start out he still pulls, so it is no quick fix, for me. He was a rescue dog and never had formal leash training when we got him when he was 1 year old. So that is my story, take it for what its worth. We have a better walk with a no pull halter.

I bought the first bag of these at my vet's office. He's not a big treat fan so I was intrigued with anything he would reccommend. The man actually sugggested I give my dog an ice cube as a treat. I don't know about your dog, but an ice cube doesn't even appear on my dog's radar scope as a treat. I have a dachshund (pray for me), so he isn't a huge dog...yet. I cut the treats up into four pieces to get more mileage out of them. I would've given them 5 stars, but they stink. I guess the dog wouldn't agree, but my nose tells me differently. He sure likes them, stinky or not, so I'll be buying them again.

Love it. Good quality leather lanyard. Nice an long (hangs just above the belt), the way I needed it. Size of the leather rope is perfect as I was able to transfer my work ID over to it with no problems.

My son gets the cheap nylon ones for free at work but they don't last. I was hoping this one, since it is leather and braided would last at least the year for him? I will update this review as time goes by. It was very nicely made for the price.

I have been using these treats for years. I believe that dogs need some organ meat in their diets and I actually add these to their food (which is all homemade, FYI). Be careful to calculate the cost on the different sized bags. Apparently Amazon, or Pooch Passions is not concerned with saving the planet by reducing packaging materials and shipping costs. The smaller sized 14 oz. bag 1s currently the best price per ounce (11/27/08). It's a shame. I would have ordered the largest size bag if not.

This is advertised for normal sized dachshund's AND OTHER DOGS. To the person who gave this one star ... THE SIZES ARE IN THE DESCRIPTION it was your fault you didn't measure your dog first. But I understand if it didn't fit I. Measured my dog and this muzzle should fit him well and he's a Sheba mix with no dachshund in him.

This Muzzle is advertised to be suitable for Dachshunds. Well, they are not!

I have three Dachshunds and they wouldn't fit anyone. This Muzzle is way too large, Ill designed, heavy for a small dog and just poorly conceived. Furthermore, the leather strap designed for "comfort" goes right over their eyes. Whoever designed this did not have dogs in mind.

This is truly deceiving advertising. Having paid over $ 60.00 and waited 3 to 4 weeks and then getting a product completely unusable.

Dogtra Surestim Low-High Training Collar

I purchased both the 1900NCP and 7100H. Both are great collars.

The 7100H is essentially the same as the 1900NCP except for the transmitter vibration feature, the LED Light on the collar unit is in a more visible place towards the top front corner of the unit, and the collar unit does not have a physical on/off button, rather it has a red magnetic dot where you hold the magnetic dot on the trasmitter (while on) up to the magnetic dot on the collar unit to turn on or off. Also the 7100H is green and black unlike the all black 1900NCP. The vibration feature is great and I figure the SureStim is only 10 or 20 bucks more than the 1900NCP, why not just pay a little more and have the feature for when I'm out with my dog in the cold and wearing gloves.

I have a 80lb, 9 month old GSD and he requires anywhere from a 30 all the way up to 50 correction. The dial goes up to 127. There is also a 7000M which is the same model as the 7100H except it has a low to mid power. I prefer the 7100H because it is low to high, so if there is a huge distraction and my stubborn boy isn't listening, I have the extra power if I ever need it.

I would highly recommend the Dogtra 7100H if you want high end power, vibration to know you pressed the button down all the way, a well built quality unit and reliability in a dog collar.

PRO: My lab has always been a smart dog, easy to train. However I got deployed for 400 days and my family did not have time to keep teaching him and correcting him when he was bad. So bad habits like getting on the table for food happened, and having to tell him to sit more than once. With the Dogtra collar I am able to put him back into good standings with my wife, since he doesn't act up when I'm around (LOL he thinks I'm the alpha male.. if he only knew). I also have a wireless shock fence, but that didn't give him much room to run in the back yard. So I took the flags for that and walked him around showing him the flags and just vibrating his collar when he got too close to them. So now he has more room, and I'm not worried about him running over to the neighbors. I used the collar to shock him once for jumping up on people, haven't even needed it for that issue since. If anyone has anything bad to say about Dogtra I would immediately say they need to learn how to train their dog first.

CON: I was reading some place that the device only has a few hours of use before you need to charge it for 10 hours. That's not true, but I guess that depends on how much you shock your dog. My charge last's two to three days. The "Nick" button doesn't really do anything for my dog. He just gets a look on his face that looks like he was wondering if he imagined getting shocked. If he's excited and bouncing off the walls the "Nick" button does nothing.

Overall I would recommend this to anyone, and everyone. I got into trouble for buying this even though we "talked" about it costing too much, but now even my wife is recommending it to her friends.

UPDATE: About a year of use now. I am changing my review from 5 stars to 3.5 stars due to two factors. 1.) This does not get anywhere close to a half mile range. I would say at maximum (clear open spaces with no obstructions) it will get around the length of a football field (100 yards). That's only 0.0568181818 of a mile. NOT the .5 Miles advertised). 2.) The battery life on the remote collar is short lived! Without use, it gets about 2 3 days. If done properly, I would still highly recommend the use of an e-collar. Just know that this one doesn't give you the range that is advertised.

Besides my dog, the Dogtra 7100H SureStim Remote Trainer is the best purchase I have ever made.

I have a puppy who I have been taking to weekly training ever since he has been 8 weeks old (8 months now). All though he is a super smart pup, like all terriers, he is a very independent thinker with a headstrong personality. When we are training with no distractions he listens and obeys every word I say without hesitation. As part of our weekly routine, I take him to the local dog parks to ensure that he is properly socialized and gets plenty of exercise. During our outings, he totally forgets who I am and will run off in to the woods in search of other people and dogs. My recall commands are ignored and I am unable to successfully get him to come or even listen to me for that matter. One day I was taking him for a walk (on leash) and he saw another dog across the street and pulled and wiggled so hard that his leash and collar came off. Concerned for his safety and upon recommendation of a few other dog owners I decided to go out and buy an e-collar. I looked around at several different brands and finally narrowed my selection down to Tri Tronics, SportDog and Dogtra. In fact, I was all set to go with another brand, but when I went to the store the Dogtra handheld remote felt best in my hand. The buttons are placed in the right spots and the size is smaller than the others brands that are of similar range. This means that I can place it in my hand, extend my finger over the antenna and can discreetly conceal the handheld remote. Both the remote and the e-collar are built solid, waterproof, and look attractive. The charge lasts for a few days and recharges quickly. I get great range and when wearing gloves, I can set my handheld remote to vibrate so I know that I correctly pressed the button. The LED light allows me to see what correction level I am using day or night and there is a wide range of correction levels (1-127). I think it is the most of any brand. The handheld remote has three buttons which allow you to either: a.) make the collar vibrate, b.) send a "nick" or momentary correction, or c.) send a continuous correction (I never have needed to use). The package contains: Handheld remote, e-collar, charger, splitter (allows you to charge the remote and the e-collar simultaneous), lanyard, metal belt clip, and carrying case. The only negative thing I can mention is that the system does not come with a training dvd. I was however able to find a valuable training manual at the following website. ( )

Since I have been using this, my pup now listens to me even when there are distractions. In fact, it only took a few times for him to pick up that if he didn't pay attention on my first command, that he would receive a gentle encouragement. It only took him a few times to get it.

I personally would never use an e-collar to teach a dog a new command, but for commands that he already knows it is a good way to encourage him to pay attention. This has truly helped me to keep him safe and in my control while still giving him the freedom to be off leash and to play and have fun. Remember, every dog has a different tolerance level and those tolerance levels will differ depending on the environment. Never give your dog more than is needed. A gentle reminder is all that is needed to make them come around.

One thing to note: It would have been nice to not pay the sales tax, but I wasn't able to find Amazon as an authorized Dogtra dealer. So to be on the safe side I ended up paying the sales tax and purchasing this at an authorized retail store.

Purchased this to assist getting my wonderful golden retriever's attention when we're out on our daily off-leash walks around the neighborhood. The collar unit is pretty substantial, so I don't think it'd be appropriate for smaller breeds. My golden pays no attention to the heft/weight when I put his "big boy" Dogtra collar on him before our walks. I've only used the vibration function, never the Nick or Continuous. I agree with the prior posters' comments, that this unit is optimally used to reinforce commands the dog has already learned. For example, if we're walking along and my dog stops to sniff something really wonderful (to him) and I walk past and continue up the street, if I call "Come!" and he doesn't immediately react, I give a short push of the vibration button on the handheld remote, and just the short vibration burst breaks his little pea-brain's attention, and he comes running to me with a happy face for a sit/click/treat. Thanks so much for this product. It makes our daily long walks much more enjoyable for both of us. Highly recommended, even though it's one of the more expensive one-dog units.

I just wish I could purchase the 1" optional contact points for the collar so I could have the option of using Nick correction with his longer double-coat. Unfortunately, the longer points only seem to be available from the Dogtra online store, and their store doesn't support SSL data encryption. If you use their store anyway, your credit card info is exposed for everyone on the web to see.

** UPDATE ** February 6, 2012: I did find the 1" optional contact points elsewhere online, and replaced the originals. Whether it's because our golden has gotten used to the vibration-only correction, or he's just gotten more independent now that he's 15 months old and 87 lbs of happy guy,... I have had to use the "Nick" a few times on a very low setting, and that's worked perfectly. It's still a wonderful tool for both of us on our daily off-leash long walks. Highly recommended.

Moreover, even if one were able to put the frame together, if a dog were to kick after urinating, it could dislodge the frame. If a dog were to step on one of the dislodged ends, the metal connector sticks would stick up and could smack the dog or actually stab it. ADDITIONAL UPDATE 15 July 2010: I would like to add that the rubber inside the corners of the newer frames...the ones that come with a white/blue color corner (instead of the older red/yellow color corners) DO NOT have as much holding power as the older frames did. The rubber inside the corners is a LOT softer/thinner plastic and the pads are much more proned to slip out of the corners.

I read the other reviews....I really like this product. I may have been lucky that my order arrived on time?? The main problem I have noticed is it is getting difficult to find these little frames. The ones you see now are much more expensive! I raise Chihuahua's so I always have several pads down, and expense is a big issue for me.

I have not had a problem with the wire sides coming apart, at least not to the point of being a problem. It has happened on occasion with some of my older frames, but I simple stuffed a small amount of pad/napkin/paper in the hole and that fixed the problem (quick fix-but it worked for me)

I have been using these frames for over 5 years, and have never had a puppy hurt by the frame, the corners are strong enough to handle consistant chewing by several litters with no damage that would effect the use of the frame. The corners are hard plastic so they can be soaked in clorox water for daily cleaning. The rubber inside the corners is the only portion that has grown weak over extended use from inserting and removing the PP pad corners.

All in all, I have to give this product a clear 5 rating as it has worked well for me with constant use.

This is a perfect pet frame for a small dog or puppy for housetraining. You just push the corners of the pad into the frame. This was really nice since the pads that have no sticky backing just slide around on the floor and the pads with sticky backing leave that sticky residue all over my tile floor. This is a good solution for keeping the pad stable. My only issue is that it took forever to ship from the seller. Not sure that it arrived within the timeframe that it said it would. Otherwise, I have no problem with the product itself.

Exercise Dog Pen in Black

I am using this as a fence between the kitchen and living room which is too wide for a regular gate. This is more economical as well. I have a small dog and he stays put. The pen is short enough that we can step over it. I can fold up portions to fit my needs. I have also folded it and used it as a gate for a door when I need to confine the dog to "HIS" room. (He has doggy door, ramp, 2 level dog house and air conditioning) To use this as a pen outside I would want to anchor it with tent stakes or something. A younger, more energetic dog would be able to go under it if they wanted to.

I purchased the High Tech Pet Hush Puppy Sonic Bark Control Collar before Christmas. I have a little dog that was removed from a hoarder situation and once I adopted him and he became acclimated to his new surroundings with me began barking NON-STOP. He barked at absolutely everything...cars driving by, other dogs barking, people walking by, the wind, my wind chimes...well, you get the picture. I was totally skeptical that this product would stop his barking as when he barked he seemed to work himself into a frenzy and his barks would become louder and louder. One of my neighbors complained to me about this so I thought I'd better try to find a solution. I figured the Hush Puppy collar would just make him bark at it. But I was wrong. He only wore it a few times and as soon as he barked and was corrected by the high pitch sound he stopped barking immediately. I don't think the collar's had to increase sound output. Finally a collar that worked. Very easy to use and we've had great results. We had tried a few different brands and they either were too loud and just scared our dog or so ineffective that he barked right through it. This one seems to actually help as a trainer.

Krebs Recycle 2 ft. Climbing Rope Dog Training Lead

We have a 185 lb Irish Wolfhound. He is a true gentle giant, but if he wants to go somewhere he will. We have had the 6 foot leash for a few years and like it. We have been using the 2 foot for a month or so and really like it. He doesn't get the room to gain traction so there is more control. There also is just a closer connection and he responds to it. It's also great just to have along even if you are off leash. You can stash it in your pocket or over the shoulder. Then when you come to the nervous hiker eying the beast, you whip it out, clip it in and everyone feels better. Having done a fair amount of mountaineering, I like the feel and look of the 10 mill rope. I also like the fact that it stays out of a landfill. All in all, it is Wolfhound proof and approved.

I just received this 2ft. lead today and have already completed 2 walks with it (7 miles total). I like the look of climbing rope leashes, and after pondering making my own, I discovered the Krebs versions. At their price, it definitely makes up for all the time and effort I would spend trying to make a leash as nice as this. My dog is rather small (a 30 lb. mini Aussie), so he does not stand very tall approx 18" at his shoulders. However, he's very good at walking right beside me whether he's on a leash or not, so I really don't need a lot of slack for him on a vigorous walk. I wanted something that would simply fall at my side with my arms relaxed and down, and not drag the ground. This length is a perfect match for my height and my dog's in that respect.

The quality of construction is top notch, but it still has the look of something that has been made individually and with great care. The cordura sleeve and stitching that binds the two ends of the rope together to form the loop looks strong and I have no worries about it not holding up.

I should note that the photos do not make it all that apparent that the leash is in fact a large open loop, with the exception of where it is bound together near the clasp... so, where most webbing leashes have a small loop for a handle, this is essentially one large loop (the photos make it seem like there is a small handle if you glance at it).

PetSafe Extra Collar for Wireless Containment

OK, so here's the deal. The collars use to come with standard batteries that you could pick up at the store for about $5.00, but PetSafe decided they could make much more money if they sealed the batteries in a "Easy to replace" cartridge and charge you double the price of regular batteries. I was VERY dissatisfied with the life of their batteries and the cost, although I love the performance of their system. As a result I carefully filed down the top of their battery cartridge so that I could extract the battery in it. I then found a replacement battery online. The cost for a battery for my dogs collar was $12.50. I found I could replace the battery inside the sealed unit for $4.00. Needless to say, I am once again a fan. So here is the tip: Take a worn out battery unit out of your dog's collar. Carefully file away the plastic lip that holds the battery in the unit. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and remove the battery and then identify the battery type. I have two dogs that wear these collars and they take different batteries (one is a Boxer, the other a mini-Shnauzer). However I have found that I can replace the batteries for one-third the price that PetSafe asks for battery replacement. Other than the battery issue, these collars and fence syatems are awesome!

We've had a PIF wireless fence system for about 3 years and it's always worked great for us. We recently added a second dog to the family and picked up an additional collar. Below is a comparison between the original PIF collars and this new one:

Lighter weight

Low battery indicator

Multiple correction levels

Cons:

Uses a proprietary battery that I can't just go pick up at any store like I can the old collar (only a problem if you don't have a major pet store nearby-which I don't).

More features, easily removable battery, might mean just more stuff to go wrong.

Better range*

Ok, I listed "better range" as both good and bad, and it is. It's an improvement on the old collar, so if you're replacing or have a new fence system, that's great. If you're using this collar in conjunction with an old collar then you can expect one dog to have a slightly bigger (about 40ft diameter) roaming range then the other. We have a large yard so it's not an issue, but in a smaller yard, I can see where it could potentially become a problem.

All in all, a great product, good, sound construction, and the PIF wireless system has been great for us. The new collar has some advantages and disadvantages to the original one that shipped with the system, but most of the changes are good. The collar (and the system itself) is definitely worth the money for its ease of use and for keeping your pet safe. Amazon has it cheaper than I've seen it anywhere else online.

My husband and I raise AKC labs and have used the Petsafe Wireless system for years. Our dogs learn quickly where their boundary is, and have not suffered any ill affects from this excellent product. We recommend this product to all purchasers of our Labs. Not only will it keep them safely within the confines of their yard, it prevents them from being hurt by possibly wandering onto nearby busy streets. I'd rather they be "warned" by a very small "charge" of electricity than lose them to the wheels of a car. So far, we have purchased 4 of these collars, and I'm ordering more today. FYI, the company producing these collars really go out of their way to make sure the product is correct and have stood behind their guarantee when we had a small problem with one of them. They sent me a new collar and had us return the old one...in that order, no questions!! Pretty good customer service in today's day and age!!! I'll continue to do business with them!!!

Implemented according to directions in manual & accompanying video with original unit (previously purchased for first dog). Second dog benefited from consistent training and made appropriate associations with limits provided by flags. New version of collar allows varying degrees of negative consequences; this improvement proved helpful with training. Flags included with original unit are needed for use in training with 2nd unit. If such flags are not retained, orange utility marking flags can be purchased from a home improvement store. They are taller, brighter and come in larger quantities for less money than a new set of PetSafe flags. PG

The range and sensitivity of the collar changes when using two collars in the same area. The range from collar to collar varies where one of the dogs can go further than the other dog before getting zapped by the collar. The collar works as intended but could be better in regards to range sensitivity when using more than one collar in the same space.
