The Sofa Scram didn't deter my cat at all. First of all, it comes on when it wants to. I heard it beep once when the cat hopped onto it, and that's the only time I heard it aside from my own tampering. I eventually pressed my hand on the mat for better contact. This only worked intermittently, and when it did beep my cat was interested in the speaker--not afraid of it by any means. My cat isn't the shy, shrinking violet type, so perhaps that's why it didn't take. But, either way, this product was entirely ineffective for me.

My wife and I just got a new sofa and decided it was time to break our dogs of the habit of hanging out on the couch. Worked well with our two lab and Jack rat. It's pretty easy to fold up and you can store it under your couch.

The only reason I'm giving it 4 star is because it runs on 9 volts I think it would be cool if it gave you the option of plugging it in. So far we have been using it for 3 weeks with it on all most all the time other then when we are sitting and it's still running on the same battery.

Our Weims are too smart for their own good, so they would always find a way to sneak onto the couch... Now they have no desire to do so! The one drawback, is that the alarm doesn't respond when certain spots on the pad are depressed, but all I have to do is put it on the bed while my dog is watching and press it myself. I think he hears the sound and is smart enough to stay away from it once that happens. I think that dogs in general are smart enough to do the same. In short, it works...and it's only $25.

We've been bothered by a neighbor's dog that comes out periodically day and night and just barks for 10 to 30 minutes -usually facing our house. We got this product, found a spot in the trees facing the dog, and set it up. It's really worked as advertised. The dog starting barking, as usual, but then seemed to bark fewer times, and with less noise. As three weeks have passed, we hear the dog give one or two "test" yelps (more than barks) presumably to see if it still gets "zapped' by the machine. Since it does, it stops barking immediately. No more gritting teeth (for us) for 10 to 30 minutes, as before. So, I'm delighted with this and wholeheartedly recommend it.

HERE'S THE SCOOP ON IT:

A new family moved in next door. They brought with them a german shepard looking dog that they keep in the back yard. This dog barks non-stop all day long, and it's a very deep and violent bark. It boggles the mind how these people next door can be so oblivious to the barking. We couldn't enjoy the inside of our own home due to the barking. Something had to be done immediately. I read the reviews on here which seem to have mixed results. I didn't care if it was going to be a waste of money or not because I had to try something. I bought it and hung it on a tree next to our wooden privacy fence. The instuctions say not to hang it higher than 5ft but we had no choice but to hang it higher. It's hanging on the tree about 7-8ft high and it's pointed down toward the middle of their yard. IT IMMEDIATELY WORKED. We were amazed. It barked once and I guess it heard the noise and it didn't bark for 2 days after that. After about the 3rd day it would give a test bark and then it would quit. We thought it was so funny. Finally relief. However, after 2 weeks the dog started on a rampage of barking non-stop again. We were thinking to ourselves that the dog must be used to it. But after taking it down, we noticed the 9 Volt battery was already dead. I guess we just have to replace the battery every two weeks, but we will. I don't think the 9 Volt lasts very long in the cold.

But, to sum it up, it worked. Also, the dog looks fairly young so I'm sure it's hearing is acute, meaning that it's getting blasted when it barks. HAHA, we win.

Update on 02-27-09 The dog next door seems to have adjusted to this bark deterrent, and now barks when he wants to, although he doesn't bark non-stop like he once did before we hung this device in our tree. So it worked for a while and trained the dog a little I guess.

Why do the rudest people have the worst dogs? Our neighbors parade a series of 100-pound dogs through their yard, all of which bark constantly and menace us from the fence if we're outside. We tried polite requests, even the police, but the barking continued from first light to ten p.m. Yet,when this little birdie (house) "sings," it's all we need. It doesn't train these big dogs, but it does deter them. If the battery is dead,the dogs resume barking, but when operational, the dogs stop barking instantly, test it a little, then retreat as far as they can. Even small dogs visiting this family are utterly silent; they yap once or twice then quit. The big ones now scratch the door to be readmitted instead of barking for an hour while their loving owners ignore them. The owners don't like the dogs wrecking the door, so in they go! Hilarious, really, making the dogs their problem again instead of mine! I'm pretty sure these people have no clue about why their dogs have stopped barking in the yard. I do. No one else in my family can sense this device, but I can. It's a dull, unpleasant earache, not painful, but I am motivated to move away! While this device did well outside in all weathers for 18 months, the interior connections are starting to fail because of the damp and weather. I'll protect the next one I buy with a little cover. I love having my quiet yard again instead of useless confrontations with these nasty people over their nasty dogs.

We have two mid-to-large dogs (ridge hound, and black lab mix). The ridge hound is trained, so adding the bark control was no problem. He reacted as expected only to test to see if the device is still around from time to time. However, the black lab mix is stubborn and will bark every once in a while directly at the device to show dominance. We have a neighbor with a very bark-happy beagle. When we directed the device toward their back yard (approximately 200 feet away or two lots) the reaction was immediate, and the beagle stopped barking right away. Per the previous reviews, it is probable that this device may not have the expected outcome for small dogs. A hypothesis would be that 1) small dog pitch does not activate control, or 2) small dog tends to be either stubborn of lacks reasoning with when affected by the control.

Another observation in studying this product is that after about 1 weeks worth of use, there has been a significant decline in Grackles (black birds) in the garden. There may not be a correlation, but we will continue to monitor and report.

So, in short, this is not the end-all product, and gets 4 stars. However, if you are looking for a solution to address mid-size and larger dogs, then this product exceeds expectations. Remember, be kind to animals. Taper the use of this product of the course of a few days. Then, reintroduce this product as necessary to maintain awareness of the control with the dog.

This "deterrent" has had zero effect on my neighbor's dogs. In fact, they run right up near the thing (within 2 or 3 feet) and seemingly bark AT it. And they don't stop. They just seem to be annoyed at it rather than learning not to bark. I am not impressed with this product and question the legitimacy of the 5 star reviews. I do not recommend this item. The merchant, Key Products, was excellent, however. I did receive it within 4 days of ordering with regular shipping and I would recommend them. Just not for this product.

Midwest Select Triple-Door Dog Crate

I got the large size crate (recommended for Golden Retrievers and Chows) for my 85 pound German Shepherd. This crate is roomy to put it nicely. There is enough room in the crate for both of my dogs (the 85 lb shepherd and another 70 pound shepherd) side by side. The crate is almost as big as my large kitchen table! As long as you aren't short on space, this is great but if you have a small apartment this crate is really going to limit your space. It seemed to have thick gauge wires when I saw it at the store but after taking on a road trip where it had to be folded and it got kneeled on while packing it up, the wires are bent. It still functions when open, but the clips that are designed to hold it shut when folded are mangled beyond repair. In it's defense though, the big dog inside paws it when she wants out and she hasn't damaged it. The three doors make it more versatile but each door only opens one direction so you still have to be thoughtful about where you are placing it, especially with it's size. It is very easy to remove the doors and put them back on. It's very roomy and luxurious, but very large and heavy and could definately have thicker gauge wires to make it more durable.

I'm not sure I could recommend this crate due to the poor quality of the pan on the floor. I have had my crate for just over a year and the crate itself has held up well, even with my 100 lb. Newfoundland sleeping in it every night. The problem is the pan has cracked in several places and when I checked the price of a replacement pan I was appalled that it would cost around $65 just for that cheap plastic pan. In reading other reviews on different sites I see that it is common for the pan to crack.

I bought 2 36" crates for my 50 lb dogs. They were shipped in the original boxes, which were beat up a little during delivery, but the crates were not damaged at all. It took me less than 5 minutes to set up the crates. It was a bit like a puzzle, but not difficult to do. Just to give you a little background, I'm a 5'1" 118lb female and yes, the crates are heavy, but that's the point. HEAVY duty wires will be heavy. It was awkward moving them when they were set up but hey, the crates are larger than I am and it was easy enough for me to do! Folded up, I can certainly carry them and put them in the trunk by myself (not to be mean, but maybe some people should lift some weights). I like that both of them fit easily into the trunk of our Altima. I am thinking of taking the two side doors off and sandwiching the two crates together. My dogs like to sleep together and they can go back and forth if they want some space. I actually wanted to get one large crate for both of them, but it wouldn't fit into the trunk and my husband wanted the dogs to have more room.

PROS: 3 removable doors, pewter finish, easy to set up, appears to be made of heavy duty wire (my dogs are not chewers, but we will have to see how well they last with repeated use--breaking down for travel and nightly use for sleeping), plastic pan slides out easily but can also be locked into place

Things to consider: One of the hooks was bent, but I used some pliers to bend it back easily (I also used cardboard to protect the pewter finish), one of the door latches sticks a little (but it's not a big deal), the doors are a little difficult to put back on because you have to line it up perfectly (but also not a big deal)

CONS: None that I know of but again, we'll see how well they last with use.

I purchased the 24" crate for my toy breed dog that should be arriving this spring. This crate is intended for a Morkie (Yorkshire/Maltese Mix). I expect the dog to reach an adult weight of 8 to 11 lbs based on his parents' size. The 24" crate should suffice for the dog's entire life. The included divider will allow me to create just enough space for the dog as he grows (so as to avoid soiling in the crate). Tip: dogs will not defecate in their crate if there is just enough space for them to sleep/stand up/stretch out. I tested this crate with my mother's dogs (a yorkshire terrier at 10 lbs, and a bichon frise at 14 lbs) and both were able to stand up and sleep in the crate comfortably. Also, these two dogs love to stretch out in all sorts of positions when they sleep, and the crate accommodated them well.

On to the crate itself...this crate arrives folded down. There are two clips that hold the crate in its locked position. Unlock these clips and the crate's ceiling and 2 walls lift up creating a box. Then lift the remaining two walls, and you're set. The crate is sturdy when assembled. The pan is sufficient...I see that some people had problems with their pan cracking, but I imagine that it should not be a problem for smaller, lighter breeds.

I plan to purchase a crate cover that will complete the den like feeling dogs love. Keep in mind that you will need to purchase some type of bed to place in this crate. I strongly recommend purchasing the "west paw nature nap" available here on amazon. It costs more than the typical fleece bumper bed you typically buy for crates, but it lasts forever! My mother's dogs are 11 years old and we bought their west paw beds 6 years ago. The beds have been washed numerous times and they still appear new.

I strongly recommend this crate, both for its material and design. Having a door on the side wall allows placement options in my home. I'm currently in Manhattan, New York City, so having this placement option in my apartment is very important for me. The third door is nice to have, as well. I'll update this in 8 to 10 months and share my experience with the crate.

I liked this app. My Rottweiler was very interested but my pom mix just hid. I also found that my wife can hear up to 16kHz and I couldn't hear above 15. Only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't very responsive and occasionally raised the frequency when trying to lower it. And also the contrary which is why only 4 stars. I'd recommend adding a 10Hz increment adjustment for lower frequencies also.

Apparently, the company has gone out of business as when phoning their contact phone number, you get a different company. Also, their website only refers you to other "sponsored," sites. In other words, their "one year warranty," is bogus!!!

I loved this idea so much that when I saw it, I invested about $10K into it. The product was apparently doing well and about to show up in all the major pet stores, and an extension of this great technology was also going to be used by the military for tracking their front line troops in action. I kept stopping by various pet stores to get some feedback, but they never did get the product. Next, I see that this small startup company has sponsored the winning chuckwagon at the Calgary Stampede for $210,000.00, outbidding all the major oil companies for this privilege, and getting the total VIP treatment for all their executives and entourage at the biggest party on Earth. Finally, I see this dude walking down the sidewalk in a yellow silk jacket with the HearNow logo on it, it was the main scammer Gerard Besaw's son Jarret Besaw, he had been promoted to be the Australian Sales Manager. Although they hadn't yet sold ten units in their own town, it was time to become global. Gotta think big! I suspect he used my $10K to fly there first class and stay in a five star accomodation long enough to see the sites in that country. I'm embarrassed to have been conned by these grifters. They were fined $100,000 by the Alberta Securities Commission but pocketed the rest of their $6.6 million other than their Stampede party costs. I think there should be more severe consequences for such blatant fraud. They continue to walk freely among us, living in Calgary, but using heir offshore bank accounts to vacation. Sheisters!

I love the idea of this product. But I can't get it to work. Both the collar and hand radio recharge and come with plugs. But after charging the two collars I bought overnight, neither had power the next day when unplugged. And even when they are plugged in, I cannot get the radio to communicate to the collar. The instructions explain how to set the radio and collar on the same channels, but even after following the instructions, they don't work.

At least the two radios that came with the two collars communicate with each other.

This is quite useless as a pet correction gadget. Dogs will ignore the voice coming from the collar after a while, as you are not standing there for the dog to associate the voice with someone.

I bought this at a dollar store for two bucks. As I expected, the battery in the collar unit was completely dead, it only functions when plugged in or its internal PL402035 3.7v polymer battery replaced. So if your dog gets lost, the thing is quite useless. Talking out while plugged in is no good, it fills the channel with the sound of the power mains.

However, the other half of this novelty is that it seems to be using GMRS / FRS network. It picked up a couple of chatters while I tried it in the Long Beach Marina area. Both transmitters were too weak to make any understandable response back to them one guy told me to throw the piece of rubbish away and get a REAL CB from a pawn shop!

It's still useful for short-distance communications around the house like adjusting the antenna, or checking the fuse box. However, when plugged in, it adds a static hiss to outgoing communications. There are other GMRS gadget pairs that are cheaper.

It was a good patent idea on paper, however, it was poorly executed. If it was properly executed with durable/replaceable collar batteries, it would have been too expensive or too bulky for the dog.

PetSafe Wireless Pet Containment System, PIF-300

Since we are in the process of selling our home we decided to give this wireless system a try. FIRST, I would suggest you take your dog's temperament into consideration. Although I wouldn't consider our adopted 90 lb. male Weimaraner a wus, he isn't the Alpha dog either. The training aids were good and he quickly learned how far he could go on static shock level 4. He has since become so accustomed to our establised boundaries that we have lowered it to level 2 (level 1 is just an audible beep). Adjusting the shock level is very easy it just involves unscrewing a small cover on the collar and depressing a button. On the transmitter, you adjust the RADIUS (remember that the signal is emitted in a circle from the transmitter) using a dial. EASY! It did take some effort to locate it correctly in our home they suggest it be 24" off of the floor and it obviously has to be near an outlet, but it can emit a signal up to 90 feet in every direction that's a total cross section of 180 feet! The only disadvantage we found and it is minor is that if your home sits higher (or lower??) than part of your yard it will add few extra feet to your radius until the collar picks up the signal. This can be overcome if you build this allowance into your transmitters placement. Overall, we are thrilled and we've had this about 4 months now. I have had people tell me that once water gets under the battery cover, the battery dies. I don't know, but after looking at the cover I think it would have to be a downpour before that happened or maybe the dog went swimming or was bathed? Regardless, I placed a piece of duct tape not pretty but functional over the cover to keep this from happening. Finally, we will continue to use this even after we move since it has worked so well. A good investment to protect your pet but PLEASE don't forget to take the collar off of your dog before putting him in the car and backing our of the garage. YIKES!!!

I have owned this system for a little over three years. It has been amazing. But it's a big investment.

I have an Australian Sheppard that I had allowed to run loose at a previous house where I didn't have neighbors, street traffic, etc. After moving to the new house in a subdivision, I couldn't find anything to keep the dog close to home. He dug under or jumped over fences and would spend all day howling when he was chained. At 5 years old I thought he was pretty set in his ways. This system worked in a matter of minutes.

I hooked up the transmitter and marked the circular area around the house where it started beeping. Then I put the collar on the dog without any charge and taught him that when he heard the sound to return to the house. After a couple of times I jacked up the amperage and let him figure the rest out himself. It only took two shocks before he was done.

For those not familiar with the product:

The transmitter is kept in a weather tight area (i.e. your house--I kept mine in a kitchen cabinet). It will need an outlet for power. Then the collar goes on the dog. The collar is battery operated (more about that later on). The transmitter broadcasts a signage and as long as the collar is picking up that signage there is no shock. By the way, power outages are not an issue. If the dog wonders to the transmitter's boundary, the dog will hear 2 seconds worth of beeping before the metal prongs begin shocking his neck. The shock lasts for 20 seconds or until the dog returns to the boundary. The shock is quite a tingle (which I discovered while holding it and marking the boundary). It's certainly not enough to kill or leave any lasting damage, but it is definitely unpleasant. You can adjust the intensity of the shock from high to off which only leaves the beeping.

Some things to know before you buy the product:

THIS IS NOT AN ELECTRIC FENCE. I know you read that in the description, but it needs to be restated. The circular boundary your dog has is not fixed and permanent. On a clear day he may be able to roam a few feet further than on previous days. Some days the dog is able to cross the neighbor's drive and other days he can't. If you want a perfect boundary then this won't do it. If you're just looking at keeping the dog close to home, this is what you need.

THIS PRODUCT GIVES THE DOG A CIRCULAR AREA. Keep in mind that the transmitter broadcasts equally in all directions. If you have a long, narrow yard he will only have access to a circular area around the base. I realized this when I discovered the dog had made a pretty uniform circle of poop around my house instead of going to the back corner of the yard. You can increase this area with multiple transmitters; however, if your neighbor has the same product and the ranges overlap then both your dog and theirs will be able to freely travel back and forth.

The system is not perfect. If you can live with all the limitations listed above, there are a couple of frustrations.

BATTERIES ARE EXPENSIVE. Different reviews offer different lengths of time that the batteries last. Some people say their batteries last for 4 months. Mine go dead after 1 month. You can find a 2-pack of batteries for between $8 and $12 or order on line, but those start adding up.

YOU CAN ADJUST THE SHOCK BUT NOT THE BEEPING. One of the neat things about the system is once you train your dog you can then take the system with you when you visit relatives or go camping. When the dog hears the beep, he returns to the base location. However, for most people, they will set it up in their house and never move it again. With the beep, you are training your dog to respond to the beep not to the area. Thusly, when the battery dies and the dog stops hearing the beep then he keeps roaming. I would rather be able to train the dog to the area he is allowed and then turn off the beep so he learns where he can and can't go.

REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE EXPENSIVE. The material on my collar started showing wear within the first year. The collar device is scratched and the indicator light no longer works. When I priced replacement collars and discovered they cost almost $200 a piece I started babying it. The collar material finally fell apart last weekend. I was able to find a cheap collar and fix it so it would work with my existing collar device and make the repair for about $5.00. I'm not going to be a happy camper with the collar device finally fails and I have to drop another $200.00.

THERE ARE SOME ETHICAL QUESTIONS. I understand people complain that it might be cruel to shock a dog. Personally, I think it's considerably less cruel than keeping the dog chained or allowing him to get hit by a car. However, the first few times your dog gets a shock and wimpers are hard for an owner to hear. My dog did seem to have some nervous reactions during the first few months of use. Perhaps I could have prevented that with less ambitious training. He has since adjusted and doesn't seem to mind the collar at all.

HIGH OPERATING COST. All told, I spent $280.00 for the original unit and have spent about $5 per month in batteries for 3 years. Over the three years I've had it I've averaged $12.77 per month to operate it--pretty pricey. And, as stated earlier, it looks like I may have to drop another $200 for a replacement collar before the year is over.

Well it finally happened. The collar crapped out on me. It just started randomly shocking the dog. The new collar was right at $200.00. It's back up and running now.

*****UPDATE OCTOBER 2011*****

Just got a new puppy...a 3-month old golden retriever that loves to roam. Two shocks and she is trained. Yes, it was another $200.00 for another collar, but less expensive than explaining to my son that his dog had been hit by a car. This new dog is a water lover. I'm not sure how the collar will stand up to that, but I'll keep you posted.

We purchased this item on Saturday. Hooked it up on Sunday and by Monday afternoon our 5 month old Rat Terrier/Bichon was staying in the yard consistently. We are really pleased with this product. Our dog has been staying in the yard with many people walking by and other dogs passing by as well. It appears that he seldom has to experience the shock, he turns around rather quickly as soon as he hears the warning beep.

The only difficulty we have encountered is that we have cable and electricity boxes on two corners of our lot and it appears that there is some interference with the signal. We still have the signal , but it is not in the perfect circle from the transmitter that you would expect.

So far, excellent product, highly recommend. Great alternative to expensive in ground systems, and much easier to install.

My husband brought this fence system home about a month ago. We have a 10 month old Golden Retriever(Molly)who weighs 80 lbs and is very high energy. Molly was used to being on a long tethered lead when she was out. It took about an hour to read the directions and set up the boundary, only because we have woods and needed to decide where she was allowed to go. After we figured that out, it took about 1/2 hour to place all the flags (only took THAT long because the kids were "helping"). I am NOT kidding you when I tell you she was trained that same evening! I only had one incident of her going past the barrier as the school bus was just TOO inticing. I turned the collar up a level (VERY easy to do) and took her out side. As soon as she realized it was less comfortable to escape, she decided not to do it again. It has been a mont and she has had the whole yard to play in all day! Its wonderful to just be able to put her out and not worry. She knows her boundary and does not go past it. I highly reccommend this fence. A feature we have NOT used yet, but look forward to, is being able to take it with us when we travel SO cool!

I do wish there was a feature that allowed us to remotely page her to come in, or "correct" her when jumping or chewing something she shouldn't. That is the ONLY thing I would add.

I wrote this review about a month ago. Still a GREAT product, however my batteries died without a warning and she escaped to the road. No biggie they were easy and inexpensive to replace. However, there should be a warning sound on the main unit or something. I did buy another pet safe product, a separate collar for manual control for jumping on people or diggling holes (etc.) seems to work if you are watching all the time. Not as impressed with it as it sometimes doesn't seem to piick up the signal. Also the directions are nonexistent.

After much research, we are SO HAPPY we chose this product over the traditional in-ground fences! No worries about ruining any wires when we aerate the lawn or do our landscaping... It's a very flexible, cost-effective solution and it works GREAT for our very feisty 2-year-old Schnauzer mix. We keep the collar on the lowest correctional setting and to tell you the truth, at this point he probably doesn't even need the correction -just hearing the warning beep is enough for him. He immediately turns around and gets closer to the house when he hears the beep. It only took one or two days for him to figure out his boundaries. At first he was a little afraid to go outside at all, but within less than a week he was happily playing outside in the "pet area" of the yard. Only drawback to this product is that there's no "safe gate area" where you can exit the circular pet area. (So we just take the receiver collar off our dog and put on his regular collar when we want to exit the yard to take him for leash walks.) Highly recommend this product.

I am really focused on training my new dog and this treat bag makes it easy. I take it on all my dog walks and outings. I use the flap compartment in the front for bio-bags, the zippered pocket in the back for my driver's license, and the roomy treat compartment snaps open and shut with ease. There is a key ring on the side where I keep a clicker. The waist belt gives my hands freedom. This bag has been through a few rain storm hikes and the treats have stayed dry. The design works perfectly for my needs.

The plastic clip broke this week, after 4 months of use. I guess I'm okay with that, as I've now found I like the belt feature better. With the clip, the treat bag filled with a couple handfuls of Zuke's Mini treats would kinda pull down my loose yoga pants that I always wear.... oops! So, I much prefer the belt, wish I'd tried it sooner.

I use this treat pouch to hold Zuke's Mini treats to reward Zoey for going potty promptly, coming inside when I call her, etc. Most importantly, it holds my waste bag for picking up after Zoey, so I can have both my hands free even if my clothing doesn't have pockets, like the aforementioned yoga pants.

The directions for this Premier treat pouch instruct the user to occasionally oil the hinges, which I need to do. The hinges to close the pouch worked smoothly until some rain got on the hinges.... now they're creaky and stiff. So, gotta oil those!

These wear out.

All treat bags wear out. If you use them day-in and day-out, you need to plan to replace your working bag every 4-6 months.

This is my experience, based on 10 years of serious training with Border Collies, at least two hours a day.

If you want the hinges to last longer, put vaseline, or a little vegetable oil, on them once a week--this keeps the bag opening and closing smoothly and helps the hinges last.

But you will still need to buy a new one every six months or so.

See the reviews under the green bag. After three months of use once a day, one of the hinge pins came out so the bag could not shut tight, its main design feature. I found the pin and replaced it and two weeks later the hinge, itself, broke making the closing feature inoperable. The other reviewer at the green bag site had two bags that had their hinges break.

I am training my own service dog so I use my bag daily. Unfortunately, the hinges break on every one! The first hinge broke within 3 weeks of purchasing, so it was replaced at no charge. Then I ended up going through more than 6 bags in as many months because the hinges continue to break. (Granted, I don't have to pay for the replacements, but now I'm fed up with it!) So I am online hunting for a new brand. Premier's bags have very cheap hinges and it is totally not worth your time & money to invest in them! These totally stink. Great design, but cheap materials!!

WizDog Indoor Dog Potty

Maybe I have no business reviewing this product, since I sent it back before using it.... but I felt others should know what I learned before they order it. The Indoor Dog Potty consists of a tray with a grid that loosely fits inside, under which you are supposed to place newspaper for puppy's potty. The tray is very flimsy plastic -a little heavier than a plastic milk carton. The grid is the type you can buy at any hardware store -they are grids for light fixtures that go into a suspended ceiling. The grid is sharp to the touch -I felt it might be too uninviting for a puppy's soft foot pads, and that the puppy would be unlikely to want to walk on it. Also, the grid's squares are about 1/2 inch deep, and I felt it would be difficult to clean from it. In my opinion, this item was way too expensive for what it was, and I sent it back without trying it. What I ended up doing, which worked pretty well, actually, is to buy some housetraining spray (and may I mention, one spritz is plenty) from the pet store and sprayed it on the floor of my walk-in shower. The is easy to pick up with tissue and flush down the toilet, and I keep a broom-handled scrubbrush and disinfectant bathroom cleaner handy for scrubbing down the shower floor before use. I have a showerhead with a hose on it for easy rinsing. Puppies are nearly housetrained, now, but this method made it easy for the pups to take care of business if left alone for more than a couple hours. My last beloved pooch didn't like going outside in the rain, and I wish I had thought of this shower alternative for her. If rain proves to be a deterrent this time around, at least the pups have an alternative to going outside. By the way, I drape a bathrug over the top of the shower door opening to keep the glass door from closing all the way, in case the pups bump it. I'm not saying the Indoor Dog Potty doesn't work.... I'm just saying it is cheaply made, and that there may be a better, easier way to accomplish the same task.

We have 2 shih tzu's that use this as their primary bathroom. We actually have 2 that we use right next to each other and it works out great. We started out using a doggy litter box, but our puppy really hated standing in the litter--not to mention it was kind of gross....

We'll continue to use the Wiz Dog until something better comes along...

I got this thing, and I must have miscalculated the measurements, because it's huge! It's almost as wide as my hallway! My puppy has no interest in it, and it's not very easy to clean the grate, so we just took the grate off. I really wanted this to work, too, because I don't like the idea of my puppy pooping and peeing on papers that leak onto my floor, but she seems to like that idea a lot more than using this thing.

I have had two of the Wizdog potties for the last five years and think they are great. One for upstairs and one for the camper. I had a daycare on the second level of my home when we first got a sheltie puppy. I knew before we ever bought the dog that training the dog to go outside would be a nightmare. It would mean getting shoes and coats on 7 or 8 little kids and draging them all downstairs and outside with me and the puppy. By then the puppy would have already gone on the floor. So we tried the Wiz dog and the dog took to it right away. We change the paper once or twice a day. For number two's I either pick up solids with toilet paper and flush it. Occasionally my dog has had softer stools. In that case I take off what I can with toilet paper. Then I lift the toilet seat and place the dirty part of the grate over the flush. I keep a quart container near the flush that I fill with water and pour it over the soiled part of the grate. It might take two or three water fills sometimes. This will keep the grate very clean. Just in case I also keep some wet wipes in the bathroom. I also always keep plenty of plastic bags in the bathroom so I can triple bag the wet newspaper. After I take up the paper I spray pine sol on the bottom section and wipe with paper towels. Occasionally we take it outside in the summer and hose it. In the winter time I have also filled it with water on my deck and poured pine sol into the plastic bottom with the grate inside and let it soak. If the weather is bad or it's winter time I fill my bathtub with a small amount of water and put the potty upside down into the tub along with some pine sol. Really, it's not hard to keep this clean. I love the fact that in the middle of the night I don't have to get up with the dog. There have been many rainy and snowy days that I was grateful to have this too. A couple of times my husband bought some of the grating over at Home Depot or Lowes and cut new grating to fit the wizdog. Occasionally my dog will have her front paws on the grate and her hind legs off the pottie when doing a number two. But most of the time she gets it right. I have always felt it was well worth the money. We are happy, my dog is happy, and the daycare kids never had to step in doggie doo doo outside.

First off, I ordered this item 8/30 and received it 9/4. I am very pleased with the fast delivery.

My advice to anyone probably does not need giving, yet for those like myself, here goes. Read the little instruction guide before jumping in. I immediatedly started popping batteries in and ofcourse did not do the transmitter first. I placed the batteries into the receiver first, which is exactly NOT what the instructions say. So I thought maybe I had gotten a faulty unit. The only faulty unit here turned out to be me. So read the instructions and set up your remote transmitter first. Then place the batteries into the receiver and it will code itself to the remote. Also, read the tips, etc concerning training with an electronic collar. It is important.

I have been using mostly only the vibrate mode on my girl who is a strong headed, hyper one year old lab mix. I have only had to "zap" (shock) her once. She is responding beautifully. This item has absolutely shown her that I now have backup and am serious about the commands I have already taught her, yet she had decided lately that she could obey when it suited her. Now she obeys when I ask her.

And it has only been one day !!!

I LOVE this training system. And I LOVE the price. I would never have been able to afford most electronic training systems on my small old aged pension.

I am very satisfied ... and very thankful.

We had purchased a dog training collar from tractor supply and paid 140.00 for it. Our big guy managed to loose it. So I bought this product to replace it and in the meantime had adopted another dog. This product works great! I am using them on both dogs. I paid 1/3 for two training collars of what I paid for one. Love Love Love.

The receivers seem to require reset every day as the batteries seem to shake loose. Also un happy that transmitter rrequires time to restart. The adjustable levels are good. It is useful on control 2 dogs.

Don't waste your money. You WILL be disappointed. The range is about 50 feet. The battery life is short and batteries in remote are not easy to come by. The collars will not tolerate moisture. The collars will not adjust down to smaller dogs and they must be tight enough for the little prongs to make contact or the shock won't work.The remote shuts off after a few seconds of non use and must be restarted and reset to the correct mode. The collars seem to easily loose the ability to communicate with the collars which entails taking the collar off the dog, unscrewing the prongs, pulling the cover off, removing the battery and reinstalling the battery while pushing a button on the remote. This takes from 3 to 10 minutes and happens often...if it keeps working that long. Trust me, you can do WAY better. Stay away from these.

Ultrasonic Dog Dazer Deterrent

I am an avid cyclist and got this product to spare me from having to get pepper spray, which needs to be direct in order to be effective on aggressive animals. The Dog Dazer is a bit large and clips on a belt (I guess) but when cycling I have to clip it over the waistband of my shorts and it is a little heavy and slightly uncomfortable. As for dazing dogs, well, it only works occasionally. My experience is that some dogs are immediately dazed and stop chasing and barking. But other dogs seem to be intrigued by the sound emitted! I even tried it on my own dogs...one shied away and the other came closer. And in some cases the dogs seem to have no reaction at all to it. I still carry it, but I would not stake my calves (when a dog is getting close to taking a hunk out of them) on it working....

I own a pet service company and occasionally come across a situation where multiple

dogs will approach where at least one is not intent on being friendly. The dazer II has proved to be an effective tool as it will stop most dogs from charging or at least confuse them long enough to allow me time to vacate the area. I'm glad to have the safety I need without harming any animals.

I purchased this cage for a puppy who seems destined to be a 65 lb escape artist. The bars are a nice thickness, and it is sturdy. Plus the locks can't be just slipped into the unlocked position.
