I am an avid cyclist and got this product to spare me from having to get pepper spray, which needs to be direct in order to be effective on aggressive animals. The Dog Dazer is a bit large and clips on a belt (I guess) but when cycling I have to clip it over the waistband of my shorts and it is a little heavy and slightly uncomfortable. As for dazing dogs, well, it only works occasionally. My experience is that some dogs are immediately dazed and stop chasing and barking. But other dogs seem to be intrigued by the sound emitted! I even tried it on my own dogs...one shied away and the other came closer. And in some cases the dogs seem to have no reaction at all to it. I still carry it, but I would not stake my calves (when a dog is getting close to taking a hunk out of them) on it working....
dogs will approach where at least one is not intent on being friendly. The dazer II has proved to be an effective tool as it will stop most dogs from charging or at least confuse them long enough to allow me time to vacate the area. I'm glad to have the safety I need without harming any animals.
