KONG Premium Treats Sweet Potato Vegan Treats

This is advertised as being a vegan dog treat product, but it is definitely not vegan. Its Amazon title even has the word, "vegan" in it: "KONG Premium Treats Sweet Potato Vegan Treats". I ordered one of these, and gelatin is in the ingredient list. Gelatin is not vegan.

The product does not contain any animal "by-products" (rendered meat) and even says so on the package. I think that's what confused the person who labeled it "vegan".

Ingredients: Sweet Potatoes, Barley Flour, Brown Rice Flour, Maple Syrup, Vegetable Glycerine, GELATIN [my emphasis], Natural Flavor, Salt, Carrots, Peas, Phosphoric Acid, Sorbic Acid, Citric Acid, Natural Smoke Flavor, Mixed Tocopherols, Rosemary.

And if I were nitpicking, I'd say the Natural Flavor and Natural Smoke Flavor could also be non-vegan. I can't say for sure.

The use of acids in this is also a little weird. I don't usually see three used. And phosphoric acid isn't typically in dog treats, I don't think. It's just odd.

I also think it's odd that they used maple syrup, since it tends to cost a lot more than fructose syrup. I guess they suspect people avoid fructose syrup or HFCS. But maple syrup is just another sweetener, probably just as "bad" as HFCS.

Other info: "Crude protein: no less than 6.0%. Crude fat: no less than 1.0%. Crude fiber: no more than 4.0%. Moisture: no more than 28.0%."

Anyway, just wanted to chime in to mention that it's not vegan like the title says.

I e-mailed the company to clarify the source of the "gelatin" in this product. They responded that they use agar, or vegetable gelatin. In my opinion, they should make this clear on the packaging. I do think it is misleading to list gelatin, instead of agar, or vegetable gelatin.

Otherwise, my dogs like these treats and they are easy to cut into small pieces for training. Worked well for training my dog to walk on the leash without pulling!

If your dog is chewing through everything then this is the toy for you. (There is also a black one which is a bit stronger, but I found this one was more than strong enough for my dog.) This toy holds up to heavy duty chewing. I have a Mountain Cur that wants to tear apart toyssoft toys last for maybe a half hour if we are lucky (amazingly she never has tried to tear apart a Kongshe seems to know if she destroys it then it won't be a game to get the treats out anymore) so we were looking for something for her to play with/chew on as she seems to want to just sit down and chew on something sometimes. This toy works perfectly. I liked this shape better than the ring or ball option as it looked more like a stick and would be easier for her to hold and chew. After about 3 months there is NO DAMAGE at all to the toy. NONE. Not even one tooth mark. I am stunned. And my dog loved it right from the first time she say it (in fact she was jumping up trying to help me open the envelope it came in she was so excited to get to it).

There are only a couple things that are a teeny bit annoying about this toy. The first is that is smellssort of like fake baconor some of those stinky dog treats. And if you touch ityour hand will smell like that. After three months the smell does seem to be a bit less, but is still def. there and noticeable if you are touching or next to the toy. The second thing that is a little annoying is how hard and heavy this toy is. So if your dog likes to pick up toys and throw them around be careful you are not in the path (or anything breakable) as it will hurt if it hits you.

Overall though I would highly recommend this toyand I think so would my dog!

This toy has held up to punishment and serious chewing from my teenage Lab who can eat his way thru just about any "indestructible" toy. It's heavy and the rubber gives which he finds satisfying. Expensive ... but have a feeling this will last a few years, so you get what you pay for. Also my husband discovered it doubles as a great foot massager!

My dog will eat, chew, and destroy anything. Regardless of how tough, the Kongs last 10 minutes, the Tuff toys are good for an hour. This toy is tough to destroy, but she doesn't like it. And, it's not because it can't be destroyed. She'll chew a rubber ball, a bone, a dish, or even a piece of plastic. For some reason, this is low on the hit list. Go figure...

My bulldog is a serious chewer. She's had this for about 3 months now and plays with it 5-6 times per week. It is showing no signs of wear, even with her powerful jaws.

This is vey very durable play stick. My dog is a stick freak. She chews on sticks every chance she gets. Why do you think her name is Twiggy? :). Anyway, this toy is the only one that she doesn't chew up in a day or two. I guess because it is so tough it isn't her favorite toy though...but she will play with it if I interact with her. It is very tough.

Guardian Cotton Web Training Pet Lead Leash - Red

I have 50lb pointer, he pulled hard on it and broke this leash. NOT the leash itself, but where the metal part is sewed onto the leash. Wish this was re-enforced stronger. The nylon leash part is actually good quality and is still in tact. This leash would be great for dogs that don't pull or that are lighter than 50lbs.

I've gone through a few cotton leads, as I walk my dog 4x daily through the woods on one, and they get muddy, and caught on brambles and brush, and then washed and dried regularly. This one has stood up to this rough kind of wear and still looks as good as new, unlike others that have frayed and fallen apart rather quickly. I'm very happy with it.

My pup eventually chewed through the original red lead (she still gets excited when there are deer nearby) but I think she would have chewed through anything. I am still very happy, and have purchased additional leads in other colors.

Love this pad. Litht and rolls up for travel, stays put, fits most pads (puppy ones are tight but do work). Best product of its kind out there. Sure, a playful pup can tear it out, but ours learned not to. I denied it a full 5 stars because it should be $20, not $30 (i bought a full portable cage for $25 so come on!). Note to manufacturer sell it for $20 and you'll take over the entire market. Ppl won't take the time to really consider, delay, forgo it for $20 like they do for $30. It'll become an impulse buy they'll tell everyone about. More neutral colors would indeed be nice, the other review states. I do think it was worth my money, but at $20 I would have bought 2. And perhaps the next design could have foldable handles so it can fit flush in a corner. But still, those aren't functional issues. It works great and I love it. I have a dachshund and they are difficult to train. Using pad for years and washing the floor from leaks for years. OMG, she never misses on this thing. She gets it and I am using less pads because of it. I'll be getting another as a back-up. I think they are more expensive than they should be however.

This is a good product. I appear to have a pup in the 95% group as she has learned to ring the bell when she wants to go out. She rings it with a vengence, biting and pulling on it. We were having some problems with housetraining our Morkie puppy until I purchased these bells. The puppy caught on right away and it seems that our problems stemmed from her not understanding how to tell us that she needed to go out. Once she caught on with the bells the accidents dramatically decreased and she is still using the bells pretty faithfully. This is a great product and looks just fine hanging on the door knob. However, even if they looked silly I wouldn't care because they work so well.

The idea seems to be good, specially how my house is set up I'm unable to see my dog at the door so the noise will allow me to take him out. I just got these yesterday and started training my little guy he is 12 weeks old, what I do is take him to the door let him see the bells I then say a command "Potty" push the bells with my finger and say GOOD BOY! then I'll take him out. He actually started pushing them with his nose that night I would just point at the bells with my finger, then I will still say GOOD BOY!! potty.

One thing I have noticed that some people do is give a treat when they hit the bells this is a bad idea the dog will put two and two together and just ring the bells for the treat and not want to go outside just stick with what the book says that it comes with. If everyone in the house sticks with the same thing there should be no issue training your dog overtime.

I gave 4 stars for the simple reason that the quality is just not there for me the "Ribbon" or whatever it's connected to is not to thick the bells and other things attached to it very good.

Overall this idea seems great hopefully my litttle Dexter will pick it up quick and stop these 1-2 potty breaks in the house.

These are a great way for pet owners to communicate with their dogs with respect to the "get busy" command or whatever command you may use with your pet. I have 2 black labs who both use them to tell me it's time to go outside and get busy; they just go up and nudge the bells with their nose. Before I bought these or even knew there was such a thing, I had a very small Christmas bell on my door. My puppies just started ringing the Christmas bell all on their own to let me know they wanted out the door. I thought it was truly amazing. This lead seems to be a good quality, a bit stiff but it is real leather not suede. After some use I'm sure it will losen up. We tried to get our dog to hold it in his mouth so he could ask us to take him out but he seems to have been taught (he was an adopted dog) not to take things like this.

All in All very happy. No large dog should have a long leash to get in trouble with. This teaches him to stay by our side and in control.

This door bell for dogs is AMAZING! It really does work!!! I put it on the sliding door handle and every time we opened the door to let the dogs out, we rang the bell so they heard it. Within days they would ring the bell to be let out. My dogs are not the most well trained dogs (far from it, really) but they got the door bell thing down. I'm giving it 4 stars because the ringing is not as "sharp" (for lack of a more descriptive word) than the generic brand that I had prior to this. Still works though, and much cuter than others out there.

The product uses nice materials and looks fine on the door. The pups just aren't interested in it no matter how hard we try. Will give it more time and hope for the best.
