My dog hasn't really taken to this yet. It's smaller than I expected and it's so heavy that she's afraid of it at the moment.

I think I would have been better off getting a lighter-weight frisbee.

Our frisbee dog loves these, either size. It takes some practice to get a good even, straight throw, but our 5 yr old can do it. They do take quite a beating/chewing, but if left alone our dog will chew the center out. Although, even with the center out it still flies. It's also easy on the teeth and gums for catching. Our dog gets bloddy teeth if catching the typical plastic frisbee.

You need to look around but this is the best Frisbee type disc on the market. I could not properly exercise my border collies without them. The small once re the perfect size. They are much easier on the gums and teeth then the hard vinyl and they will sail a long way. Don't use them as chew toys. Some sites are still offering them below $6. They have gone up in price with the rise in the cost of petroleum.

I won't rant and rave about the benefits and drawbacks of using a headcollar each dog is different and responds differently to various training tools, and I'm assuming that you've found this product based off your own research and recommendations from trainers and friends.

The hard part is deciding which headcollar type to use. In the past decade, I've used several different headcollars, including the Halti, the Gentle Leader, the Petmate AKC Headcollar, and the Holt. In my opinion, the Holt is the sturdiest, most comfortable, and most flexible headcollar of the whole bunch, and is a worthy successor to my previous favorite, the Halti.

The Halti was, previously, the best halter for a very simple reason: it had side-straps on either side of the dog's face that prevented the noseband from riding up a dog's face and digging into the dog's eyes. It also worked without cinching the dog's mouth shut, like the Gentle Leader. However, the noseband was not padded, and while I made my own homemade padding for the noseband, it was at least very wide to prevent the material from biting into the dog's skin (unlike the Gentle Leader). The Halti generally came only in black, though colors could be found online. The Halti, despite being designed to function loose (and allowing a dog the full use of its mouth), often made your dog look "vicious" by wearing a "muzzle", particularly in the black color. Prior to the holt, this was the most comfortable.

HALTI PROS: comfort, looseness, prevents noseband from riding up, safety buckle connects to collar

HALTI CONS: limited colors, no padded noseband, can not be cinched tight for short-nose breeds

Gentle Leader Head Collar, Size: Small, Color: Royal Blue

The Gentle Leader, however, was the choice for short-nosed breeds. The Halti suffered when a shorter-snouted dog pawed at the noseband to remove it. The Gentle Leader's design cinched the dog's mouth closed with a locking mechanism, allowing it to be used snugly on short-nosed breeds. For standard-shaped noses, the cinching could be kept more loose to allow for more comfort. It did not have the side straps like the Halti, so it could ride up into the dog's eyes. The noseband was narrow and not padded (unless you shell out extra $ for the premium version not found in stores), so it bit into the dog's skin at the top of the nose. However, it came in multiple colors which helped it look less like a muzzle.

Petmate 3/4-Inch by 16-24-Inch Medium AKC Padded Dog Halter, Brown

New to the game was the Petmate AKC-branded headcollar. This came in many colors and was pre-fitted with a fleece padded noseband. The noseband color is always brown, and there are additional options for colors of the straps. This headcollar looked the least like a muzzle. However, the locking mechanism was not sturdy and would often slide, allowing dogs (even long-nosed breeds) to paw the noseband off their face. It also did not come with a safety strap to connect the headcollar to a dog's normal buckle collar (though one could be homemade very easily). It also buckles underneath the neck, rather than on the side of the face.

Now, onto the Holt. The Holt is identical to the Halti except for two key features: a "camlock" and a foam-padded noseband. The camlock is a very tight locking mechanism that does NOT budge when the dog paws at the noseband. It is a great tool to keep the headcollar ON your dog. For short-nosed breeds, the camlock can be set tight and will stay in place. It has the same great features of the halti to prevent the noseband from riding up into the eyes, and the safety strap to connect the headcollar to a buckle collar. In addition, the noseband is padded with black foam material, not fleece, and is extremely soft and comfortable. It is sewn on the underside of the headcollar, and does not interrupt the color (can not be seen while the dog is wearing the headcollar). The Holt comes in a variety of colors, including red, pink, and blue.

HOLT PROS: extremely comfortable, foam padded noseband, noseband doesn't ride up into eyes, camlock keeps noseband in place even with short-nosed breeds, multiple colors

HOLT CONS: ???

If you are considering a headcollar to train your dog, I highly recommend the Holt for all breeds. It is a worthy successor to the Halti and addresses the cons of that headcollar.

Coastal Holt Dog Walking Collar, Blue, Size 0

WE used to use these on the dogs when I trained at Guide Dogs and they were great. I have since gotten started using the gentle leader head collar and might like them a little better, but both are terrific. Both are known for actually helping your dog feel calmer by stimulating certain pressure points. Above all it is a fantastic solution if your dog pulls on walks. You'll be amazed how well it works.

I am a pet dog trainer and have recommended the Gentle Leader over the halti for years because the Gentle Leader is much more secure. Not anymore... I received a trial halter in the mail yesterday from the manufacturer and I was very impressed with the modifications, adjustable nose strap, thinner straps, padded nose strap. My rescued border collie walks with a Gentle Leader deluxe which never fit her properly. The halter either slid around her nose but if tightened put a lot of pressure on her neck. I've been looking for an alternative for the Gentle Leader for her for months and I haven't liked any of the head halters until the Holt halter. This halter fits great, stays in place and puts no pressure on the neck.

I think the Gentle Leader is a great product and it fits perfectly on my sheltie, but I don't think there is one perfect product for all dogs. I'm glad to have this as an option.

I can't believe I never heard of these before. My dog is like a professional show dog with this lead on -it is truly amazing. We love these biscuits, number one, because they are vegetarian, as are we and our dogs, AND number two, because they are small. Out dogs have an iron clad union contract. A treat is expected after each trip outside (and they go out in the yard often), after getting brushed, and after each eye drop our one dog gets in the morning. Four different drops, administered at 10 minute intervals, all for his congenital glacoma. The other dog just happens to be around at that time. :-) Bigger biscuits just disappear too fast, and our mutts would turn into blimps if they ate them this often. The collar arrived quickly and came with complete instructions. I could barely feel the #1 setting, so I started there on my miniture Schnauzer. She couldn't feel #1 either, but responded immediately when we got to #3. She is a perfect dog when on a leash, but totally ignores me when not leashed. We got a pug/beagle mix just under a year old that is a very smart dog. Problem is he is just so excitable and if you bring out some treats to try to teach him a trick he wasn't able to sit still with the excitment. I think he loves having this collar on because he knows he usually gets treats when he wears it. It's great that he doesn't associate the collar with pain, but with rewards! I highly recommend starting at the lowest level and slowly working your way up just until you notice your dog feels it. We tested it on ourselves to get an understanding of what our dog would feel, the shock isn't that bad on a 5 or 6, which is what we usually set it on for our dog.

It really works, even if I am in the house and the dog is somewhat near the house, she can till feel it (and stop barking). The only problem is that when we need it we can't find the remote, but that is our problem not the device's. Definitely recommend it.

My dog loved the toy that goes with these refills as well as these refill treats. This was his favorite toy/treat and he chewed the holder so much he deformed it. Once the holder was deformed, the refills no longer fit. My complaint with the refills is that if they were just a little less rigid, they might fit in the deformed holes. Alas, they are very rigid/hard little treats. It is very hard to find anything else that will fit in those specifically shaped little holes.

The Romp 'N' Chomp is the problem. My dog loved the romp n chomp and chewed it to the point where the treats could not fit into the toy. It would be OK I guess for a dog who does not destroy chews. Better yet, get the pup something he can sink his teeth into.

Our dog is a power chewer. She's medium sized with big dog chewpower!

She loves this ball we have the blue one. It is perfect for making her really work to get to her Stella and Chewy's freeze dried steaks. We break them in half, stretch open one of the openings and put the treats inside. She has a ball rolling, chasing and bouncing this thing around. Keeps her interested and active for about 15 minutes as she figures a way to get to the treats inside. She loves a good puzzle!

While she does stand on this collapsible ball, and chews on it, she has not damaged itand that's a relief, since she IS a power chewer.

My 9-month-old standard poodle has had all three sizes, but I prefer the large one since it is too big to roll under the sofa. I can easily take it away from her because she can't grip it very well. Best of all, it is springy and seems to take on a life of its own. Even when she just drops it on the floor, it rebounds and she goes after it again. She often gets her snout sort-of stuck in it and it takes her a while to shake it off. In other words, tired pet owners, this ball entertains without much help from you. Highly recommended.

We have two of these for our springer spaniels. When they wear these I can comfortably walk them both on 16-foot leashes without any problem or pulling. When they don't wear them I can NOT...I would get taken for a ride. My ONLY complaint is that they come loose on their own when the dog does try to pull...not to the extent that the dog can get out, but they start to sag on their chest, causing the leash to get tangled under their legs easily. Otherwise though, they are great, and overall I would HIGHLY recommend for dogs that pull.

I am so glad that someone told me about this! I have a large dog and I was using the gentle guider that went over her nose,but I hated that people thought it was a muzzle and that I was a terrible dog owner haha. Apparently, my doggy hated it too as she chewed it up as soon as she got the chance. I like the D ring on the front. I think the Martingale loop is too big, and this is exacerbated by the REAL problem: the buckles used to adjust the chest strap don't stay in place if there is ANY pull whatsoever so that by the end of the decent walk particularly one in which other dogs are encountered and there is always going to be some pull as the dogs struggle to "greet" each other the chest straps are too lose. This is really an issue and one which I wish the Premier folks would fix.

The merchant with whom I dealt, on the other hand, was fantastic.

Prong collars work by simulating the pinch/bite of another dog to your dog's neck, but sometimes that pinch is a bit more than you need for a sensitive pup. The comfort tips are just the thing in that situation.

NOTE: if your dog is leery of the collar when you put it on, or he squeals or whines when corrected by the collar, you may have an overly sensitive drama queen dog...but normally a dog isn't afraid of the collar and it doesn't cause pain. Such behavior actually suggests a different problem than lack of comfort . So, first thing, you should make certain that the collar is fitted properly. There should be only one to two inches of slack to the collar when it is on the dog. Too much slack makes the correction too harsh. I found this out the hard way. Also be sure you do NOT put the collar on over his head! (If you have it the proper size, you can't anyway.) I use a prong collar with a clip; but you can separate the links to put it on the dog as well. And be sure you aren't pulling hard on the leash. If you correct the dog, a gentle tug should be sufficient; in general, the dog corrects himself when he lunges against the collar.

I expect dog toys to be short-lived. They are subjected to games of tug-of-war and just plain chewing. However this particular one lasted about 30 seconds, with a dog who is known for NOT destroying his toys. The head came right off with little effort and so did one of the legs. Within seconds of receiving this toy and carrying it around, the dog was left with only a torso. For the money, should've held up better for sure.
