Sporn Pet Halter, Large, Black

Sporn Pet Halter, Large, BlackMy 2 1/2 year old black lab was always pulling on her leash no matter what I did to try to train her not to. Finally I read about this halter and tried it perfect, immediately no more pulling! It goes around her body, not her neck and the straps are very soft under her legs. Takes just a few seconds to put on her.

There are very few small things that are life changing but this halter is one of them.

I have two, energetic, Standard poodles, an 8 month old male and a recently rescued (and untrained) 18 month-old female. I think I've tried every "no-pull" harness on the market. Either they didn't work or my male dog would chew through the straps on the front while riding in the car. Last week I purchased two, Sporn Pull-Stop harnesses, and the change was amazing. Yes, the dogs still pull, but the pull only about 25% as hard as before. I like the way this harness exerts pressure under their legs when the dogs try to pull. It doesn't choke the dogs or make then cough as a noose around the neck or pressure on the chest does. The straps that tighten under the legs are padded, so the straps don't injure the dog. Also, this harness system is PERFECT for walking a pair of dogs together. You can clip the dogs together by clipping your leash (or two leashes if you prefer) to the two rings on the top of the two leads that extends out from the top of the two harnesses. This clips the dogs together with about 3 to 4 feet of lead between them. This forces the dogs to walk together and causes the dogs to pull against each other instead of against you. It only took my dogs a few minutes to figure out that pulling away from me/each other was futile and that walking side-by-side was the path of least resistance. Now I have them under control enough that I can begin training them not to pull at all. The one thing that needs a "fix" about this harness is that there is always a lead or strap hanging down from the top. I'd like to have a way to clip it up, so that I don't have to remove the harnesses, when I take the leash(es) off the dogs at the dog park.

Wow these harnesses really work, 2 big black labs that are not use to being on a leash now I can walk both of them my self. The dogs do not even mind them being on. What a great product and something that works like it promises.

These harnesses are awesome. I have tried regular harnesses, choke chains, and even the gentle leader head harness. None of them worked like the sporn pull-stop harness. The only thing to watch out for is the cord that wraps under the front legs. As I was putting the collar on my lab, she got the cord in her mouth for maybe two seconds and it was already frayed. Other than that, this is an awesome product. I definitely recommend it to anyone who has a dog that pulls. I have two (a lab and a german shepherd) and both were walking with loose leashes the first minute we were walking. Love this harness!!!

Very glad I purchased this. It really works as other reviewers have said. I bought it after reading all the good reviews, but was still skeptical thinking my dog is bigger, heavier, stronger, and a worse puller than most. My dog is a 70 pound black german shepherd. I walk most nights for exercise and wanted to bring her with me, but each time I tried with just a leash or other devices she would end up injuring my neck or shoulders. Even dog school was ineffective. With this product we walked two miles the first day with NO PULLING. It's amazing. She doesn't seem to be in any discomfort either. In fact she gets very excited when I get the Sporn out.

PoochPad PoochPant Diaper, X-SmallHere's the size guide according to the package:

Size XX Small Weight= up to 4 pounds, Waist Measurement 6 12 inches;

Size X Small Weight= 4 8 pounds, Waist Measurement 10 13 inches;

Size Small Weight= 8 15 pounds, Waist Measurement 13 19 inches;

Size Medium Weight= 15 35 pounds, Waist Measurement 18 25 inches;

Size X Large Weight= 55 90 pounds, Waist Measurement 25 34 inches;

Size XX Large Weight= 90 120 pounds, Waist Measurement 30 38 inches.

These Pooch Pants really work. I bought 3 pair. My dog is getting older and I just purchased new carpet in my living room. The old carpet was in bad shape due to the dog. Once I bought Pooch Pants my dog was able to go anywhere in the house again. These pants do not leak at all. I highly recommend them to anyone with an older pet. My dog does not mind wearing them either.

My cocker spaniel 'leaks'. When people come to the door, when she's nervous, when she's happy: she leaks. Just a little leak. This wasn't a big issue until we moved to a new place with carpets. The Pooch Pants take care of little leaks and big leaks. As when we came back from the beach with a completely exhausted pooch, we discovered that she sleeps just like a baby: midnight potty leak included. She wears her Pooch Pants at night when we know she's too tired. It's also good for potty training since dogs don't like to pee on themselves. We find that the 'pants' have greatly improved our leakage issue.

I bought 2 of these, size Medium for my Am. Cocker Spaniel when she was in heat. She weighs about 21 lbs with about a 17-inch waist. These may be better at being potty diapers than for what my girl needed, but this was her first heat; So I don't know if next time she will need more absorbency like this product provides. I have since found some great "panties" by Simple Solutions that are thinner and designed to fit much better. The Pooch Pad brand here was bulky and a little baggy, and my dog pulled them off several times. However, I can't imagine the medium still fitting a 35 lb dog or a 25-inch waist. Maybe I'm wrong, and I guess it does depend on the breed/shape of the dog some. The BIG problem with this Pooch brand is that the tail hole is huge, and well, her poor little "girl part" kept getting out of the hole. So, there's some leakage issues with that! When pulled up and straps tightened this takes care of the issue mostly but it's a pain. Two other brands I've found since have a great section of shirred elastic at the belly which (with the usual velcro-like straps) helps provide a much better fit. This would be a terrific upgrade for this product.

Want PoochPad PoochPant Diaper Discount?

I own a dachshund who started experiencing incontinence after recovering from a back injury, and I bought PoochPants as an alternative to A. ruining my carpets and/or B. losing one of my babies. The diaper fits very well with an elastic waist and velcro flaps. My dog, Schnitzel, was a little dejected when I first put the diaper on her, but she got over it within 10 minutes.

PoochPants have a great capacity for absorption, as Schnitzel would completely release her bladder into them and nothing would leak out. I do recommend getting at least 2 diapers, though, if your dog does more than little dribbles here and there. One bladder's worth will tend to make the diaper sag, and that's where the spillovers can occur. PoochPants also keeps their promise in regards to odor control and durability. Even fully loaded, the diaper would absorb the scent of urine, and they surived many washing-machine cycles.

I'm grateful Schnitzel no longer needs her diapers, but if there's ever a time when she needs them, she'll definitely be getting PoochPants again.

Kakadu Pet Empire Extendible Nylon Dog Lead, Large, 1" x 4-6ft, Earth (Brown)

Kakadu Pet Empire Extendible Nylon Dog Lead, Large, 1' x 4-6ft, EarthPutting this to the test with about two hours of walking every day. I've thrown it in the washing machine and let it air dry cleaned up beautifully. So far, so good also like its adjustability.

So, a leash is NOT just a leash.

I love that it extends, and I LOVE the padded handle. We have a wolf-hybrid (around 90 lbs., but built like a mack truck), and he's (usually) very good on a leash, except when every other dog on the block decides to become a barking buffoon.

That's when the padding becomes a gift from heaven.

Given that this cost no more than a basic leash from Wal-Mart, and a lot less than a leash from PetSmart it is well worth it's price. My whole family loves is. We also bought a smaller one (for a pug yes we own a wolf and a pug) and my 4 year old had no problem walking the pug with this leash, being able to shorten the length to her size made it perfect.

Midwest Wire Mesh Pet Gate, 29 Inches to 50 Inches wide x 44 Inches tall

Midwest Wire Mesh Pet Gate, 29 Inches to 50 Inches wide x 44 Inches tallThe gate is tall and works well in the standard door jam I am using it in. I use it for my crazy chocolate lab, and it works well. I was concerned she would jump over the typical 36" gates. The 44" height was the main reason I bought it. When I took it out of the box a few screws were loose, and one was even stripped. A little chintzy when it is standing free, but is quote solid when in-place. The total quality is somewhat lacking, but it gets the job done.

needed to separate new cat from rest of our pets and this combined with a 36" gate did the job

Buy Midwest Wire Mesh Pet Gate, 29 Inches to 50 Inches wide x 44 Inches tall Now

This gate did the job for almost two days before it broke.

We purchased this gate to keep the cat from roaming too much, and it seemed to be keeping him confined as hoped. I did notice the adjustment bar was a bit lightweight for the size of the gate and would flex a bit when the gate was secured. Well, it lasted for less than two days (probably 10-12 opening/closing cycles) before it snapped. At $20./day it's a bit too expensive for me!

This gate is exactly what I expected and more. It is perfect for my dogs that are able to leap tall buildings and climb over them. Before I found this gate I was resorted to putting up (2) baby gates one on top of the other, looked horrible, this gate is clean looking and perfect for me!

I would highly recommend this gate. I use it for my cat...anything lower she would be able to jump. The gate is very sturdy, well made. I got it at a lower price from Amazon...the only damage was to the box, and didn't affect the gate at all...a real bargain.

Mednet Direct 23" x 36" Large Puppy Pads - 150 Count

Mednet Direct 23' x 36' Large Puppy Pads - 150 CountI foster puppies for my local animal shelter, and had been buying pads from a pet-specific store which were more expensive. These are just as good, though rectangular (I like the square ones better -they fit my space better, but for this price, no problem!), and they are bigger than the regular pads. This is a very good buy; they were delivered quickly, too.

As advertised could be thicker and more absorbent. MedNet Direct website is very poorly run. They held up shipment for 6 weeks with no word or reason and would not respond to my frequent emails asking about it. Amazon shipped quickly as usual and I will buy again but NOT from Med Net Direct.

I wish I would've read the reviews posted here before paying $38.99 for a box of 150 of these puppy pads! They are thin, have no absorbancy, and leak right through to the floor! Very poor quality. Later note: Amazon did set up a return on this purchase and gave me a full refund.

Loving Pets Pure Buffalo 14 to 16-Inch Meaty Femur Bone Dog Treat

Loving Pets Pure Buffalo 14 to 16-Inch Meaty Femur Bone Dog TreatI have a giant-breed dog who likes to chew and I thought, after reading other reviews, that this large chew would last her a good while. She certainly loved it. Even as big as she is, she had a hard time carrying it around, but it lasted no time. Within less than an hour she's disintegrated an entire head off one end of the femur and was sawing down on the rest of the bone.

Which is fine, I guess. Happy as can be.. but I've had much smaller bones last longer. And bought a whole box of hooves and had ONE last well over a week (the smell was even worse than these bones, though).

So, anyway. Yes, it's a hit.. but the duration is obviously going to depend on the size and determination of your dog (mine's a "soft mouth gripper" herding breed, btw.. not some wolf hound that likes to tear things to pieces for kicks and giggles..)

As for basic facts on the product itself (for those not familiar w/ chew bonesI wasn't until recently): They're greasy-feeling to the touch (you always have to wash your hands after touching them/getting them out of the wrapper for the dog); they smell pretty bad (fantastic to the dog, though); they've been smoked or something so there are baked-on flecks that are going to flake off all over your floors like crispy bits.. the dog will eat most of them, but you'll be sweeping/vacuuming behind him/her for quite some time and once the bone is finally broken down to bits, there will be shards (most often) and small round tiny bits that can be stepped on or hazards for small children (just be aware if you have them) and your vacuum that will have to be picked up by hand before vacuuming. Best for an outside treat (unless you have roaming neighborhood dogs that will steal them like I do.. she has to keep them inside and I just have to clean them up.. and a lot of the reasoning behind getting these things is to keep them from chewing inappropriate things IN the house). So they have their pro's (they WORK, they attract the dog's chewing attention very well) and cons (a freaking smelly mess).. I find it worth it but will find a different product (probably go back to hooves).

The dog loves the bone and won't put it down. The only downside is that it smells really bad. I have yet to see the bone splinter and she has been chewing on it for two weeks.

My AmStaff/GSD mix is an active chewer. I'd rather he chew on things like bones and toys and not my things. So I invested in this bone (oh okay I bought it on a whim, let's be honest). IT IS HUGE. I was shocked, my dog seemed shocked, I wasn't sure if he was going to take to it. As I type, I can hear him sawing at the born. Totally a hit. Would recommend to anyone with a little guy (or a big guy!) who love to chew!

XX Large Soft Claws for Dogs (Natural, 14 mm length x 9 mm width)

XX Large Soft Claws for DogsI have to agree with the other reviewthey are a bit like tap shoes. However I didn't get the these for noise reduction or more traction for my 55 pound 6 month old yellow lab/Shepard mix I got them for protection for my wood floors and leather furniture (as well as me while we banish the jumping problem!). They aren't staying on as well as my first trial with them but I think that's because I have the size too small (the chart is accurate, I just misjudged). The fronts are falling off even with super glue! So like I said I think it's the size-I think it's better to go a little bigger then too small. They have done great at protecting both the floor and furniture (and me!). I've also used the pedi-paw with success but you do have to do it just about weekly and it's a little time consuming. These I put on and hope they all fall off by their next nail clipping 5-6 weeks later!

We have a Standard Poodle, around 45 lbs. He has been slipping around on the wood floor, causing scratches. First we tried buying dog shoes. Bought 2 different brands of high quality, very comfy boots...at $50+/pair. While this did help with traction, he completely "shuts down" when they get put on. He won't sit or lay down. Just stands up till he is exhausted and starts to fall down. We thought he would get over it, but after 4 months of catching him "fainting" and having to physically stretch his legs out and make him lay down... we decided to try the nail cap option.

We bought xx large. First I ground his nails down. Put 3 drops of the glue in the nail cap, squeezed it to make it more circular, and slipped it right on. He didn't even notice. Every 4 or 5 days I will notice one is missing. I just grind that nail down and apply another. So, I never actually remove them all and apply a new set. When they get too worn, they naturally just fall off. I just used up the last couple nails, and it has been about 14 weeks. Very acceptable.

The scratching on the floor is sufficiently reduced. If he gets real wild, they will still scratchat which time we show him his old boots and he bolts for the kennel :) But for general "trotting" around, there is no scratching, as they are much softer than nails. These caps obviously don't aid in traction. But...huge help in the scratches. A fair compromise between me and the Poodle!

Buy XX Large Soft Claws for Dogs (Natural, 14 mm length x 9 mm width) Now

I actually bought them because my dog has hip displasia and she was slipping on wood floor which is not good for her. Since she has them on she does not slip as bad on the floor. It's great! I also found a better way to put them on without using any glue. Got one size smaller, soak them in boiling water for just 10 or 20 seconds, they get very soft and slide right on the nails, took me 2 minutes to do all 4 paws. When they cool they hold very strongly. Just a tip

I have a 65 pound boxer and we just got new hardwood floors. He loves to play inside and we cant break him from this habit, since we have let him do it for 3 years. We bought the soft claws for dogs, and glued them on. They are fantastic!!! Yes, they do come off or wear off, but his has lasted for over a month. He sometimes does wear them down where they will get holes, but his nails do not come thru and the wood looks great. He is very tolerant of them, and I think most dogs would allow you to put them on, just like a bath. Very simple! If the soft claws do not wear off after awhile, we clip them off and put new ones on. Do go by the size chart, because my first pair ordered was too small. Great purchase!!!

Want XX Large Soft Claws for Dogs (Natural, 14 mm length x 9 mm width) Discount?

I have a Labrador and wood floors and the soft claws do not improve the relationship. It has been a bit like tap shoes for a child at Christmas.

The claw guards went on fine and have stayed on (I was rather hoping that they would fall off, I am going to find out today how to take them off).

The plastic of the claw guard is softer than keratin of claws and without sharp edges so if scratching was the primary issue it might be a help.

However putting a cap on anything is going to make it longer and for these it is a minimum of 4 mm. Immediately Abby made more noise on the floor and I think she was also getting even less traction on the floor than before. The Soft Claws were just not soft enough to be helpful. She sounds like a walking snare drum.

The best answer is going to be weekly nail sanding.

Abby did get 2 complements on how good her nails looked including "you've had Abby's claws done" ie it look almost natural. (The ones I got were NOT purple.)

Punk Hollow - Leather Dog Leash - Dog Training Leash - Dbl Braided - 6 ft. X 3/4 in. - Black/Brass (

Punk Hollow - Leather Dog Leash - Dog Training Leash - Dbl Braided - 6 ft. X 3/4 in. - Black/BrassThis is one beautiful leash. It has been through inclement weather and remains soft, pliable, and great looking. This is no leash that a dog can chew to pieces! And, by the way, I do treat it too with leather balm, just because I love it!

Who doesn't like the look and smell of leather? Actually, a stiffer leash is easier to use when handling your dog. This leash looks nice, is flexible but has enough 'body' for better control (than a soft nylon lead) and the braiding at either end will help increase its lifespan at those areas where it is usually stressed (allows it to stretch a little). A leash to last the life of your canine friend. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it's pricey.

SPORN NO PULL HALTER LG BLACK

SPORN NO PULL HALTER LG BLACKMy veterinarian recommended I try this halter in order to control a 70 pound adolescent sheepdog who was next to impossible to walk. While the veterinarian admitted had no experience with the halter, an employee in his office had highly recommended its use. She used to have a husky who was a former sled dog and this product was the only thing that would control her husky. Our Ginnie Mae chased cars, stalked animals and seemed to think she was a sled dog pulling me! Choker collars did little to deter her dangerous behavior. She would tug until she backed out of a regular collar. If she saw a bird my arm was torn out of the socket! On more than one occasion, I ended up mid air and on the ground! Daily walks were dangerous and neither one of the kids could walk her.

Our first walk with the Sporn Halter was amazing. This formerly uncontrollable dog never tugged at the leash--NOT ONCE! The halter completely subdued her behavior. The straps around her front legs are not at all tight so the dog seems completely comfortable. It is easy to fit, easy to get on and off the dog and the dog does not seem to be bothered by the apparatus. The Sporn collar can remain on the dog (with the arm straps detached) but I have found it easier to just leave her regular collar on and leave the sporn halter on the leash. No reason the kids cannot walk her now!

I do not know why this apparatus works but it absolutely does!

The Sporn Halter works well because its design puts a slight pressure on the sensitive pressure points under the dog's leg, more or less the equivilent of a pressure point in your armpit. The dog immediately responds to the discomfort and behaves properly...and stays a happy dog. No pressure on its throat. For the person who below complained that it was complicated to put on, perhaps the first time or two...once solved, it's a simple process. My dog, who was a maniac before the Sporn, sits patiently while I put the collar on and then is off like a rocket but also immediately settles down when I put on his leash. He knows that the Sporn means a fantastic run in the park, it's nice because you can easily put the dog on and off leash the little ring stays nice on the top of their back, easy to find when needed. I'm guessing that perhaps the owner did not have it on properly when she wrote that it did not work. It works like a charm. My groomer told me about it, they use a similar apparatus during the grooming process and the dogs are always under control in her shop, from English sheep dogs to little toy poodles.

Try it, you'll love it. And the neat thing is that big dogs can now be walked by lesser weight people without the worry that they will be pulled half-way across town.

Buy SPORN NO PULL HALTER LG BLACK Now

My 5 month old, 74 pound German Shepherd has been to puppy class and failed due to excessive pulling on the lead. It was just too frustrating to take him anywhere because all he did was pull on the lead no matter how strictly I tried to curb that behavior. He's a big boy so this was a huge problem. Walking him became impossible. I tried everything and nothing worked. I did not buy this halter at first because it looked too simple and light weight to be effective. I WAS SO WRONG!

It took a little getting used to to put on the first time but after we mastered that task he was off and walking like a perfectly well trained dog. He is so happy out waking now. If he starts to tug, a simple pull back with verbal commands and he immediately correct himself.

We went from absolutely no walking to be able to have daily excursions through parks, across busy streets, and share the sidewalks with pedestrians and even other fellow 4 legged friends.

It is an effective and kind halter that is far superior to continuous yanking on a poor pup's neck.

Last week I was able to walk my pup to a busy sidewalk caf where I ate the most delicious pastry and sipped numerous cups of coffee all while my perfect puppy sat near the table accepting all the praises about how handsome and well behaved he is. I am in heaven!

Dogtra Element 1/2 Mile Two Dog Training Collar

Dogtra Element 1/2 Mile Two Dog Training CollarBest product ever! Now my husband and I have no worries taking our two dogs to the cabin. After training the two of them with these collars, I could't ask for better dogs. They have done a complete 180 and they caught on really quick. I would definitely recommend this product to any and everyone!

This is an amazing product that is built, designed and packaged extremely well. I did end up returning a single dog 1900NCP, not because I was not completeely satisfied with it, but I decided I wanted a shock collar for my other dog as well. This model is a perfect size for my 60 pound dogs who are both "mild-mannered" but need a little reminder to "Come" every once in a while.

Whichever collar you decide on, I would highly recommend Dogtra products.

So I have had this for a couple months now and it works great. I have 2 German shepherds one 4 month old and a 1 year old. It didn't take any time at all for them to catch on to the vibration and stimulation. Now all that is needed is the vibration rarely ever do I have to use the stimulation. The battery lasts forever on these I usually use them about 1 to 2 hours per day when we go hiking and then turn them off when we get home I never throw them on the charger until the end of the week the longest I have gone without charging them was 2 weeks so GREAT battery life. Great price for multi dog unit you wont find it cheaper anywhere else.

I have two Vizslas that are for the most part well trained. There were a couple of issues that I wanted to resolve in their training. They barked a lot at any passersby and other dogs, and would not stopwhen told. They also would jump up on visitors. After a few short weeks, the barking isnot an issue. They will still bark, but will stop immediately when told. Bonus...I didn't have to use the shock at all. The vibration worked all by itself. They still tend to jump up with visitors, in part because we don't have a lot of them, but they will literally stop at the push of a button.

My dogs like to be outside, so it is important that the unit is waterproof. Also, it is easy to keep the dogs separate with the oronge and black. I use the orange for my more active dog. I would recommend this product. I plan to let my nephew borrow it for his dog when I am finished training mine.

Guardian Gear® 6' Cotton Training Leads for Dogs

Guardian Gear 6-Feet Cotton Web Dog Training Lead, BlackI was disappointed to say the least. I currently use another 6 inch 100% cotton lead that I purchased from a dog trainer for about the same price. That lead is thick and very soft and my favorite lead to use because it does not dig into my hand when my young beagle pulls on it. It is just the right length (I find 5 feet leads too short). It has begun to fray, however, because our dog gnawed on it, so I wanted to find a replacement. The lead I bought from Amazon turned out to be much thinner and doesn't feel like 100% cotton. All I know is that it hurts my hand, so I don't use it anymore for our beagle.

I had a four foot leash that was just a bit too short. It was really soft, but I wanted something longer. My dog has a bad habit of pulling sometimes, I admit that. I've been training him to walk beside me. I let him go to the bathroom a bit farther away from me. Sometimes I don't want to go onto the grass (some irresponsible dog owners don't pick up after their dogs) and a longer leash would allow me to let him sniff around at a reasonable distance without him pulling me. And don't worry. I always pick up after my dog.

I bought the leash in black and the length is good. I definitely like the extra two feet. My old leash was not long enough. The only problem is the leash is not soft at all. It really hurts my hand when I correct my dog when he strays a bit too far or when he pulls. The material is a bit too rough. I'm not going to return it because it's just not worth paying the shipping to send it back, and I'm not going to return my dog! I guess there's more training to do, but I still wish it was softer. Maybe it'll soften up after a few uses. Hopefully!

Edited to Add: I'm getting used to the leash. It doesn't hurt my hand as much now. I added one star. I do wish it was a bit softer, but it's not as rough as when I first used it.

You get what you pay for! Fairly inexpensive. Puppy (toy breed) just shredded right through it. I wouldn't recommend it unless your dog is toothless.

My only complaint is with myself I should have bought a ten foot lead so my inquisitive terrier wouldn't be struggling to go a few feet farther into the brush.

Premier Nite Lite Nylon Collar in Blaze Orange, D-Ring in Front, 3/4' x 20'I purchased, my Dog's new collar on Amazon.com in the warehouse section. I have saved a lot of money in that section. Perfectly good products at huge savings because the package is faded of repaired. I have a black Lab his orange blaze collar stands out on him. The collar is very well made,it is not a glow in the dark type however.

Grriggles Plush Shore Thing Bungees Dog Toy, Flamingo

Grriggles Plush Shore Thing Bungees Dog Toy, FlamingoI expect dog toys to be short-lived. They are subjected to games of tug-of-war and just plain chewing. However this particular one lasted about 30 seconds, with a dog who is known for NOT destroying his toys. The head came right off with little effort and so did one of the legs. Within seconds of receiving this toy and carrying it around, the dog was left with only a torso. For the money, should've held up better for sure.

ClearQuest Pet Dental Wipes, 100-Pack

ClearQuest Pet Dental Wipes, 100-PackDon't know what is in these things...obviously not what was on the ingredient list. There was no peppermint...more like baby wipe fragrance. Went as far as to taste them myself and threw them away. Aweful product.

My dog has never let me brush her teeth but when she sees the package of these she actually comes over and sits down and waits for me to wipe her teeth. She actually likes it and I can say that it makes a HUGE difference in the smell of her mouth.
