We had been using the prong collar for our puppy. Then the vet said that she prefers the "gentle leader". So I looked it up and found the Holt walking collar as an alternative. The strap that goes over the dog's snout has nice padding and a soft fabric which the gentle leader doesn't have.

I did take the advice of another reviewer get yourself ready for the walk first (it's winter, so I'm gearing up with coat, hat, gloves). When you are ready to start walking, put the collar on the dog. My dog did successfully get it off of her face a few times within the first 5-10 minutes of the walk. After that though, it was like we'd been walking with this type of collar for months! She picked it up very quickly. (I had also tightened the part that goes round the snout so it was harder to get off.)

As for performance of the product it's amazing! No pulling or jolting away from the human. This is a much gentler way to control your dog on a walk! I was skeptical of the vet when she said that people never go back once they try this method she is 100% right! I will never go back! Five starts in every aspect!

I couldn't live without this leash. I have a 60-lb dog who is uncontrollable otherwise. It really works, much much better than a gentle leader, etc. My dog is the kind that flops around on the end of her leash like a fish when she wants to get at another animal. This leash stops that behavior in its tracks. Only problem with this thing is the ring that the leash is threaded through tends to slip after a while, so you have to stop periodically and readjust it. I've heard some people complain about the lack of a loop on the end. Nonsense. You should never ever wrap a leash loop around your wrist anyway if you don't want to get dragged and have your wrist dislocated by an out-of-control dog. And it's just not a powerful way to hold a leash. A trainer taught me how to do it right. The leash should be looped around your thumb and the two resulting lengths clenched to your palm by your fingers. No dog can pull the leash out of your hand with this tough grip, but you can let go in a heartbeat if things get way out of control.

This leash makes walking my rambunctious dog easier. I had to figure it out, but once I did, it was easy.

The collar arrived quickly and came with complete instructions. I could barely feel the #1 setting, so I started there on my miniture Schnauzer. She couldn't feel #1 either, but responded immediately when we got to #3. She is a perfect dog when on a leash, but totally ignores me when not leashed. She has a powerfull chasing instinct, and will run 200 yards down to the road to chase a car. I'm hoping that I can get her to stop chasing cars before she gets killed, and now I have a better chance.

We got a pug/beagle mix just under a year old that is a very smart dog. Problem is he is just so excitable and if you bring out some treats to try to teach him a trick he wasn't able to sit still with the excitment. I think he loves having this collar on because he knows he usually gets treats when he wears it. It's great that he doesn't associate the collar with pain, but with rewards! I highly recommend starting at the lowest level and slowly working your way up just until you notice your dog feels it. We tested it on ourselves to get an understanding of what our dog would feel, the shock isn't that bad on a 5 or 6, which is what we usually set it on for our dog.

It really works, even if I am in the house and the dog is somewhat near the house, she can till feel it (and stop barking). The only problem is that when we need it we can't find the remote, but that is our problem not the device's. Definitely recommend it.

It has five levels of correction from beep to a electric pulse from a regular battery, and even if you think the electric pulse is cruel, I believe it is better for the dog to feel it few times and then it gets to back off when hearing the beep, than escaping from the house and getting hit by a car

Our dog loves this bed as much as we do! She loves sleeping on the fleece side and even goes in her cage on her own since we got this particular crate pad! It is also odor-free! SportDOG TEK-V1LT 1.0 GPS+E-Collar

I had trouble with charging it the first time, when I went to charge the unit the second time it was dead, would not charge, when I notified company I have been told they will try to fix it or send me a re-built model. Really, I just paid for a new one now I am out $500 very poor customer service in my opinion.

I had a spaniel mix who passed away in July. I had considered buying an e-training collar for him, but I was apprehensive. I never did, and truth is, he probably didn't need it. BUT, I have a new dog now (boxer-rhodesian ridgeback mix). I've been leash-walking her daily for the past five months and she gets a decent workout (big hayfield, lots of hills). I couldn't let her off leash because she would simply never come when called. I started investigating e-collars again with the same apprehension. When I saw that manufacturers had integrated GPS with the collars, I was more than interested. I figured even if I didn't use the stimulation, I could at least find my dog if she disappeared into the woods. I went ahead and bought the TEK-V1LT. I used the collar-tracker only for awhile, but basically I was just chasing her all over the park. My dog was very good at obeying commands while on-leash, so I started to use the stimulation buttons simultaneously with the leash corrections. Finally last week I gulped, unhooked the leash and let her rip. She was about 60 yards away (the gps told me that) and I tried the momentary shock button and a loud "COME". She barely flinched at the stimulation and came directly to me the very first time. I am so happy that I can let her off leash and she runs around like a maniac until I decide it's time for her to move on. I always use the collar's "tone" function before an electronic correction. She'll obey about 75% of the time only using the tone. It's been 100% success with the stimulation.

I suppose anyone reading this review has already formed an opinion on electronic collars, so let me just describe how well designed this unit is. My dog is extremely active and I have no worries about the ruggedness of the collar. She's been in the water with it, through the woods, jumping obstacles...the works. The GPS locks a signal quickly and the range is beyond what I suppose I'll ever need (specifications state 7 miles!).

The transmitter is a technological work of art. It's intuitive and built to the same standards as the collar. The buttons are very stiff and according to SportDOG they will gradually break in. I personally like the idea of a training transmitter with buttons that would be difficult to activate accidentally. It's easy to toggle between training and tracking mode (push one button). There's a decent level of customization for the buttons; menus are easy to find and navigate; and all the functions seem very logical to me. My only complaint is that the stimulation buttons don't work if the unit is in "tracking" mode, but it's so easy to switch modes that that's a minor quibble (BTW, the tone button still works in tracking mode).

I bought this unit for one dog; a crazy 11 month old puppy. After successfully using the sportDOG with her, I can imagine how suitable it would be for the owner who trains field dogs. By adding additional collars, you can train and track up to twelve dogs with this thing! I'll never do that (God willing), but judging by the design of the TEK-V1LT, I think it would be easy.

Although my dogs are professionally trained, I bought this for a specific purpose. At winter camp, I will let them explore out to about 100 yards in thick cover. There is nothing better than glancing at a screen and knowing the dogs are fine and doing their thing. I have only used the shock once, (snake) set at the lowest level, but I love using the vibrate mode as it gets their attention with zero guilt. The antennas can be tucked into the collar bands so they don't look like robo-dogs. I am sure this shortens the effective distance, but suits my purpose. I have owned gun dogs in the past, and this is my training tool of choice if I ever go there again. i get about 22 hours on one charge on the collar, and the receiver shows just under 100% when I put them all on the charger. I own three other collar systems from years past, but would not strap any of them on a Shepherd. This thing is truly unique and could be used in nearly all training situations (because the shock function can simply be turned off, and vibrate/tone can be programmed on the third button). I would not hesitate to recommend this product on anything bigger than a Chihuahua. Really, it is that good.

Training Handle Leash (Black Bones)

I love the size and length of this leash. It's exactly right. I can keep my dog at my side very easily, but I don't need constant tension on the leash while walking normally.

Unfortunately, the actual fabric of the handle is rough and will start to chafe your hand if you use it for too long. It also doesn't feel as durable as a regular nylon leash.

I wasn't crazy about all the kiddy designs, either, but that wasn't a big deal. I would have given it 5 stars if it were made out of a more skin-friendly material.

Warning: the noise will wake you up at night if triggered, it is loud enough to travel several rooms. However, since kitty will catch on virutally immediately, and since much of the training will happen while you are out-they only disobey when you aren't looking ;-), after all. You can be assured you will not be bothered very much or for very long. Do not use in a nursery as I would imagine this would startle a baby or scare toddlers unless you are training while the child is out of the room or house.

Fashion Pet Shearling Boots

They didn't last three days, walking less than an hour each time. The bottom "Sturdy, protective polyvinyl nonskid soles" are plastic and breakdown when the temps are freezing or below. Without walking on any pavement/concrete, our Lab tore through the first boot on day one, another on day two, and shredded a third boot within five minutes of playing fetch on snow.

Of course wearing boots as a dog is not going to come naturally. And more than likely the first time they are put on them they will not only refuse to walk but once they do it will look pretty hilarious. However, once your dog DOES get used to them they are a wonderful protection to all the salts,dirt, etc that your dog would bring home otherwise. And they look adorable.

Yes every so often a bootie will fall off... but for the most part they've been great for our shih tzu (who wears the extra small size)

The zipper helps add structure and keeps the boot in place on the paw. I've tried others and they constantly slip off or twist around on his leg. Yes, the seams rip quickly or wear through the bottom, but all others are the same so you just need to keep them in stock.

The boots are made so wonderfully! Very sturdy and showy. Only problem is that an xxxs is still too big for my chihuahua, like an inch and an eighth too big. They would fit a big yorkie maybe or a maltese. The package says an xxxs is for a toy poodle. I would recommend these shoes to anyone with a bigger lap dog, but I will continue to have to look for boots to fit my 3lb chihuahua.

I bought this because it was cheap and I never intended to shock my dog, I just figured I might have to because he barks all the time and the nieghbors hate him so much that they put him inside my house when I leave. THEY dont have to clean up everything he destroys which is WHY he is outside. Anyway. I got him this:Pettag Large over 25# Dog Sonic & Vibration No-Bark Collar and he didnt care, so I put this shock collar on him and he got the point and now I can use the non-shock one. I didn't notice anything bad about this one except that its cheaply made, but its cheaply priced so DUH. But it does work, surprisingly. And I havent seen it false trigger. It only has one dial, I think it says it has two, but it adjusts the sensitivity and it works best on about medium I'd say, otherwise whimpering sets it off, turned all the way down and his barking WONT set it off. Try it out its cheap.

Inexpensive. Cheap isn't a word for this item. It does exactly as advertised. It only took one static shock to convince my dog that something very uncomfortable will happen if you keep barking after the warning tone. When the tone goes off, Chloe calms right down. There is a thumb wheel adjuster on the colar. I found that the best way to adjust this is to hold it and bark at it. Keep incrementally moving the wheel toward the maximum setting until it goes off when you bark. I put a very small piece of Scotch tape over the thumb wheel to prevent it from moving. This method will preclude any false alarms to the dog. Before I started using the tape to keep the wheel in place, Chloe somehhow did something that moved the wheel to its most sensitive setting. It would sound the tone when she would bite on her food. The poor dog stopped eating. Use the tape. I recomend this product. Looks cheap but is actually inexpensive.
