I originally purchased the Groovy Pets Model GP-001B the one with the green remote control. I really love the idea that you can train two dogs at once. I have two small miniature pinschers, 7lbs and 14lbs. I wanted this type that had the vibrate option, very badly but everywhere I looked, it was around $200 and that simply was too pricey. One day, by chance I happened to see this model and did a double take on the price, and what that price offered ! I checked around again (I am a huge comparison shopper and really do my research) and found this to be the best price for the all the great options. I have a regular $40 shock collar that I purchased months before but did not really like it for various reasons good brand and all, just not what I had really wanted. So, here I am with this model and I discover several wonderful things you can change out the collar itself and just punch holes (I used a heated ice pick to create the holes and it sealed them) and voila leopard collars were attached. The prongs have two different sizes for each "bone" so you can choose what you feel is appropriate for your pet. Now we come to the "bones" themselves how lovely to be able to see when it is fully charged Easily ! The light inside it is big and the bone is transparent enough that it appears as a quarter sized red light through the plastic. Then, when it is time to recharge you can tell, once again, very easily because there is no light when you shake it (motion activated). Here again is a great thing being motion activated means when your pet is still...the bone shuts off and reactivates with movement, thereby saving power on the rechargeable battery. This unit pairs very easily with each other and I had no problems with that. The buttons on the remote are very nicely sized so it is great for someone who has bigger hands. There are individual lights on the remote so you can see when you press the #1 or the #2 buttons. Or both at the same time. The vibrate works like a low sounding electric toothbrush but is 3 buzzes in succession. Gentle yet very effective to distract from what they were doing, and you can use a command in conjuction with that. Ok, is it perfect? Nearly a resounding YES ! The only thing I wished it had, was an on/off switch on the remote. Since I am a woman, the remote doesn't go in a pocket, but in my purse, or something like that. I was a tad worried I would accidentally press a button when I was not training (i.e. driving in the car with them and they had their collars on.) Or, other instances.Well, to my surprise, nearly a month later I discover they have a new model called Magic E Collar MEC-1 that DOES have an on/off switch. So, I ordered it. The switch is located in the back. Now here I also had a few surprises... the remote is smaller. The antenna must be built in, so there is not one that sticks out, the buttons for the different functions vibrate and shock are further apart which is wonderful and Plus, it has a lanyard you can attach. I have used it around my neck and it is very light weight. Now this set also comes with different collars plastic encased nylon. At first glance you think they are totally plastic then you realize they are heavy duty laminated for easy cleaning. Oh and I almost forgot something quite important the charges on both the remote and the bones last a nice long time. So, no worries there. With the USB charger capability you can charge in the car if you need to. Yesss!! Am I missing anything? I hope not. Is this one perfect? 99%....am I never satisfied? Of course I am..this one is minor...the on/off switch on the back is a tad sharp on the edges, so I took a nail file and just smoothed them out
Well, I have been as thorough as I could, as honest as I could, so I hope this helps future buyers become believers in this product. Oh, by the way when we are in stores or out and about, people are curious about the bone I think you will find this happening to you too.. I end up talking to them for 10 minutes or so, bragging about how wonderful this is compared to what I have had and seen in the pet stores. Maybe I should be carrying around their business cards or something, LOL. Whichever one you choose,it is a matter of choice and comfort for each individual. Either way, you win!
