This is an excellent training product and is not cruel. I fitted it to my arm and jerked on it as hard as I use it on the dog. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. The prongs are not sharp. It has been very effective with my lab puppy who has been pulling very hard on his leash to the point that he would gag and cough. After one walk with this collar his pulling behavior was completely eliminated.

The people who downplay this collar must never have had a dog who loves to pull. I have had 2 Siberian Huskies and they love to pull. This is not a problem if you have a sled, however on a leash it is another thing completely. My Huskies were unmanageable on a leash until I got this collar. With it she will walk properly, next to you, and a 3 year old could control her. This style of collar relies on the Alpha dog method of controlling the pack by nipping on the neck.

What I find cruel are people who use choke collars or harnesses so the dog is constantly straining on the leash and usually choking as a result.

It's funny that people can look at one picture of an item and cast it off as cruel. This collar is ot cruel. In fact, it is more humane that a regular 'choke' collar, why? Because if a choke collar is musused it can crush the dogs windpipe killing the dog. This product provides a small pinch evenly around the dogs neck as a deterent to pulling and other problematic behaviors.

I am in the process of training a dog as a therapy dog and this is the collar I use. It's not the picture that is cruel, it's how it is used. Used properly, this allows the dog to learn proper behaviors and discipline. Before I bought this I wrapped it around my arm and pulled rather violently, it left no marks and caused no pain beyond te pinch.

Yes, it looks a little nasty, but in reality it is not. Before you pass judgement please look into things first. It's a great collar and one I will always recommend.

This "trianing tool" does not keep a dog honest. If your dog keeps walking ahead of you or misbehaving overall, then it's something YOU're doing...a collar isn't going to fix it. I used one of these on my Doberman and all it did was fill him with anxiety, it took him a year and a half to forgive me. Talk about going down the wrong path. Nothing but positive reinforcement now!!!

These collars and choke collars are inappropriate for dog training. In fact, many times dogs will end up head shy and anxious after wearing these. Purchase a Gentle Leader or Snoot Loop and have a veterinarian help you fit it correctly (many people use them improperly). Please don't buy into the dominance ways of Milan and such.
