When I received mine in the mail, the little clip to adjust the nose piece wouldn't clip in place. I quickly fixed it with a safety pin, and we were off.

This comes with a book of instructions, a DVD, absolutely everything you need to train yourself on how to train your dog. It teaches you how to strap it on, and how to give them treats as they learn to walk. After I was sure how to strap it on, I took to the streets with my boisterous lab.

The first thing people have to realize is this is NOT a muzzle. It goes around the top of the nose, and your dog can completely open their mouth.

The concept is simple: if you are walking forward, and your head is forced to the side, you will stop. You can't see where you're going. Dogs are the same way. This collar and leash puts the pressure in the correct way so that when the dog pulls beyond the reach of the leash, their head gets pulled to the side, instead of the neck getting strangled, and they simply stop. At first, they'll paw at it and try to get it off, but that's why you have the instructions and treats to get them used to it. Once you're done...you'll wonder how you ever lived without it!

After the first two walks, my dog now sniffs at her gentle leader constantly, trying to get me to take her for more walks even though there's snow everywhere!

My dog is one year old and still quite frisky. She is getting stronger and the kids were starting to have a hard time walking her. This completely solved the problem. The only issue I have with it is that only my 11 year old has figured out how to put it on. LOL

I just recently purchased this, so my dog is still getting use to it. My dog is like a little horse and when I received this and took it out of the package it immediately reminded me of a horse harness. I am using it to train my dog so I can walk him. He is so big and has so much power, that with our prior choke chain and chain leash I could not walk him. With the Gentle Leader Head Collar his demeanor is changed and he is a lot calmer. I am now training him to walk with me before I take the big jump and take him to the park. He is still getting use to the head collar and as soon as everything comes together I will take him for a walk. He is also a stubborn dog so this is taking a little longer. The quality of the head collar is very light, but well stitched. I thought the plastic piece would break, but so far so good. I find that by controlling his head, I can control him a lot better. I can't wait to be able to take him for walks.
