Weiss Walkie No Pull Dog Leash

Weiss Walkie No Pull Dog Leash, Large, BlackWe use these to walk difficult dogs at the Animal Shelter I volunteer at and they are great. Keeps the dogs from biting and pulling at the leash and makes it easier to contol larger, stronger dogs.

I donated one small and one large leash to one of the local animal rescue organizations. They swear by this brand. Easy to use, and easy to control the animal. The variety of temperments in a shelter is wide, and these leashes seem to work for all.

I saw this leash being used by a local animal shelter. I have a 10 pound Maltese and 12 pound Bichon who both pull. Their harnesses cause matting in their hair so I was very interested in trying this out since it just uses a regular collar. It is fairly easy to get on and does work very well to control pulling. The only down side is that it isn't very long. I would guess it works for taller dogs but for small dogs like mine, it makes it hard for them to get off the sidewalk to do their business. Otherwise, they walk very well and it is very easy to make corrections when they start to bark.

My 75# dog continually tries to walk ahead of me and keeps pulling. I walk her daily and have been using a pronged chain collar so I thought I would try the Weiss Walkie after hearing it helps keep dogs from pulling. It was the same tugging and pulling only I had less control when other dogs came past etc. The rounded rope was hard for me to hang on to and way too long for walking my dog. Perhaps it would work on a young pup from the start, but it just didn't work for me.
