Now that we have that out of the way, a little background. I have two South African Mastiffs or Boerboels. For those of you who are familiar with the breed...no explanation necessary...for those who don't, imagine 150 lbs of muscle and determination. Under normal circumstances my pups are loving, intelligent and fun. They are very food motivated making clicker and treat training a breeze in a nice calm, controlled environment. They walk beautifully on a leash around the house and even on the street. You'd swear they were born on a leash.
The problem arises when we walk past a neighbor's yard...and that yard has another dog. My calm, loving, intelligent dogs turn into flailing masses of teeth, spit and general insanity. You can see my predicament. In that state of mind you can forget trying to distract them with treats and clicks...no matter how food motivated they are. No amount of praise or pats on the head would break them out of that trance.
I've tried flat collars, harnesses and even prong collars. Results ranged from highly ineffective in the case of the flat collar and the harness to mildly effective with the prong. Then I decided to try the simpleLeash. Within the first walk, at factory settings I noticed a huge improvement. I was actually able to make the block without fear of losing my arm. The shock from the collar was no doubt uncomfortable but by no means damaging or dangerous. I would even say this type of correction would be far safer than a choke or prong because there is no pressure on the neck or vertebrae. When I bring out the collar my dogs are excited to see it and anxious for their walk...that should tell you something.
The genius of the design is the beep before the shock. It reliably trains the dog to associate a pull with the beep..and a beep with the shock. The shock only happens after a couple seconds of beeping...giving the dog plenty of time to respond without correction.
I must say I almost lost hope of being able to peacefully walk my dogs but this collar has definitely made it a more enjoyable experience for not just me but the dogs as well. Despite what others may think some dogs simply cannot be trained by positive reinforcement alone and this to me might be the most humane and effective form of negative reinforcement you can use. It's like having the skills and technique of a professional trainer in a box.I have over twenty years of dog experience in conformation, obedience, and therapy dog training. I own a 10 month old female working breed who pulls no matter what training method: treats, praise, flat collar, training collar, gentle leader, canny collar, cesar milan illusion collar, and finally prong collar. She is excellent at heel in obedience class but real-life walks are another matter. I have tried to wear her out by biking with her using the "Let's Go" bike attatchment prior to our walks. The Simple Leash worked immediately. I disagree with those who think it is cruel to use shock methods every pet is different. I have a stronger bond now with my pet and we BOTH are enjoying our walks. There is a thirty day guarantee so there is nothing to lose trying out this collar it may just be the solution you are looking for!

On the VERY first walk using this collar my 110lbs. extremely exuberant 2 1/2 year old American Field Lab rescue pulled exactly ONCE. After that one correction the warning tone was enough. I've since capped one of the prongs, (as suggested in the instructions,) with one of the prong caps included in the package, (a clever use of the same tool used to change out the prongs to adjust for a long/short hair dog.)My guy has NEVER again pulled on our walks...no matter what the temptation. If he were to ever pull again, it would be very easy to remove the cap mid-walk so he would again get a correction. This is a real plus.
Another plus is the control box incorporated in the collar that contains all the controls and batteries is very small and next to invisible. While I wish it was available in colors other than grey, (since my guy is black,) it is still almost unnoticeable, certainly much less obvious than a prong collar.
I would have given this collar all 5-stars, but for: 1. To adjust the settings, (or replace the batteries,) requires unscrewing the control box. 2. Once you get it open, the switches and descriptions are so tiny you will need a magnifying glass to read them, and even with constant referral to the equally tiny print and pictures in the instructions, I was not sure what the actual settings were. 3. Not waterproof, (so we can walk on the beach, but if he wants to go in the water the collar has to be removed.) 4. I tried this on myself exactly once...at lowest setting, (factory set standard,) the vibration was so strong and unpleasant, it prompted me to open the thing up and try and ascertain if it was in fact the lowest setting, not really sure if it is or not, it was next to impossible to read the switch labeling... even when referring to the skimpy manual that comes with the unit. If it is the lowest setting possible, I can't even image what the higher settings would feel like, nor would I ever try it again on myself or another human I cared about.
Despite these relatively minor complaints, given the instant improvement, I would recommend this product...particularly if you have a dog capable of flying you across the street and possibly dragging you along the pavement in the process as well. If that is your situation, you will be amazed at what this collar can do to improve your relationship with your dog.

I have a very well trained, but VERY high energy lab. I love hiking with her, but it seems like more and more people expect her to be on a lead. I had tried the halters, Gentle Leader, and pinch collars, but she still couldn't help but pull. I tried this leash and collar and it worked like a charm the first time. It came ready to use. She had been trained on my Invisible Fence, so she understood exactly how this worked. Walks are much more enjoyable now.Want simpleLEASH - A No Pull Training Simple Leash and Collar Discount?
Thanks to Naveen Baldeo's very detailed review, I purchased this for my two 15 month old rescue pups (65 lb Husky, Coon Hound and Terrier mix siblings).I started walking them at 4 months old to get used to it, however it was a pull-along every time! The heavier they got, the stronger they got!
I love them so much and did discipline them, but they are just so excited to go walking it was difficult to do so.
The last straw happened a few months ago when they pulled me so hard I injured my wrist (I am barely 5' with skinny wrists). It took a while to heal and the fear of walking them again stopped us from doing so altogether.
These leashes are perfect! The beep is long enough before any corrective action occurs. I have taken them twice already and both times were great!
Yesterday it stopped them from chasing 2 squirrels, a cat, a dog that got loose AND stopped them from jumping on a child that wanted to pet them. All with just the Beep!!
I cannot recommend this enough for anyone who has a strong dog [or dogs] that you want to save from injury to yourself, or them too.
Thank you again Naveen!!
