We own two Weimaraners emphasis on the "wine". My husband and I had not gotten a good night sleep in two years. They howl and yelp all night unless they are sleeping on our bed which wasn't an option. Our neighbors could hear it too and now they hate us. I was skeptical of barking collars because I spent $150 on one several years ago at Pestsmart for our lab that wasn't worth beans.

Since this one was under $10 I decided said why not and gave it a try. We are now sleeping like babies.

I haven't had problems with it going off for no reason. In fact if they wine softly enough the collar won't react, it has to be a significant bark/yelp. It beeps every time they receive a shock and I can hear the beep from the garage wile watching TV in my living room, so I know its working fine. However, I think I would only put this on medium to large dogs.

They have been less vocal during the day when they aren't wearing the collars and that's a real plus too.

Update***The batteries run out quick, but that's something I have heard about other barking collars too. So stock up on batteries!

I read a lot of reviews on a lot of products before buying this one. It seemed to have the best rating. I did agree with a lot of other comments though. i have a 14 pound miniature daschund and the box is quite bulky for him. I did like that it seemed to have worked after 2 episodes. what I didn't like were the episodes. The first one I got bit. the tone was set off several times by either his tags hitting the box or me talking. The shock setting are low and high, which doesn't say a lot. the first time he ignored the tones and got shocked he was very upset and I ended up getting bit trying to get the collar off. the shock didn't seem to stop until i took the collar off. The 2nd time he ignored the tone it shocked him, stopped, then continued to tone and shock based on his cries and my other dog being upset and barking at him. On the bright side, it seems to have worked, but I was not happy to see the effect. Also like other reports, the battery does not last long at all, 2 weeks and it is dead, but showing him the collar if he barks seems to stop him.

I read the reviews on this item. Most of the complaints were due to the battery going dead. The battery is very easy and cheap to replace. It is a bit over sensitive and I had to put it on low, it still beeped allot and I had to remove it due to the fact it was zapping my dog even when he wan't barking. The 2 short periods of time my dog did wear the collar worked so well that I may never have to use the collar again. He has been perfectly quite. Something scolding him never did. Im very glad I bought the collar. I would however not recommend leaving it on for long periods of time since it is sensitive and may over shock your dog.

we purchased this dog collar, for the obvious reason, put it on our dog at night, and there was no sound that came from her at all. the next morning being a saturday we thought it weird she didn't even try to bark to tell us to come feed her etc.. here it was 9 o clock the next day and we go out there she is just wimpering tears all over her face she is just cowering afraid to move and we hear the beeping and the shock sounds just shocking her constantly!! it turns out that if you blow on it ( the wind, which is always outside) the wind activates the shock as if she were barking. Our dog was tortured for a full 12 hours tortured for no reason of course she didn't try to bark she didn't understand what the hell was going on . I was so distraught and angry, and am actually writing my firt review, just to keep other poor doggies from the same misfortune. Yeah, I only paid 7$ so it's not even worth the hassle of returning. but this is a terrible product. spend more money to get something that actually works the way you want it to.

PoochPad Pet Training Pad

After years of using the disposable pads, I switched to these and have been using them for a couple of months now. I have a 5 year old, 6 pound Yorkie, who is trained to go indoors on the pads. It bugged me every time I threw a disposable pad away so bad for the environment! To transition him, I put a pooch pad under the disposable for a couple of days, then I put it on top for a couple of days, and then I took the disposable away. No problems at all! Also, he seems to hit the pad better (I think the writing on it helps them see it better) and the pad really helps cut down on the odor. I kind of wish I had bought the large ones as he pees quite frequently. I bought two 2-packs and wash three at a time about every two or three days. I wash them according to the instructions on the package and they seem to be holding up just fine.

These pads are a good value for the money because you can wash them again and again and get a lot of use out of them. Another customer suggested having at least two so that there's always a spare on hand when one becomes soiled and I fully agree. I've found that these pads do hold a lot of liquid, but I use them with the Richell 94529 Paw Trax Pet Training Tray to protect my floors. The small pooch pads fit perfectly in this tray, despite being made by separate companies. I would recommend this setup for dogs under 20 lbs. After a few washings, I've noticed that the coloring has faded on the pooch pads but this does not affect their use. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

I bought these after training our Miniature Dachshund puppy to use wee wee pads indoors. We live in a climate that is always raining and we get lots of snow in a very long winter and felt it would be better to just have her be an indoor dog rather than fight getting her to go outside. I was having a lot of guilt throwing away the disposable pads all the time. She adjusted to them really easily. We use these with a tray, although they have never leaked, the tray keeps them in place. I have 6 and she soils about 2 a day, so we are able to keep on it a bit easier. She has been using these for about a year and they have held up great, I do line dry them though to hopefully have them last a little longer. They are more expensive than the disposables, however, I don't feel the guilt anymore at unnecessarily adding to the local landfill. I would recommend these to anyone with a dog that either is trained to go indoors or for dogs that need a back up plan when they can't make it outside. It is an excellent product I plan to repurchase when and if these ones ever wear out.

After dealing with shredded potty pads that were too thin and leaked urine everywhere, I decided to try these pads. I was hesitant to get a washable pad, despite the fact its better on our environment, due to the concept of urine in my washing machine, but it hasn't been a problem at all.

The pads can hold quite a bit of urine and reduce the smell, but they are not perfect. Over time, the moisture can sort of condensate, for lack of a better word, and cause moisture to build up underneath them. I noticed that my carpets felt damp and smelled like urine.

To fix this, I purchased a washing machine tray in the same dimensions to place underneath the pads, and it worked gloriously. I now no longer have issues with my carpets getting urine in them and if there are any "misses" on the edges, the tray will pool the urine for easy clean-up. If you purchase these, I highly recommend purchasing a washing machine tray as an accessory.

I've always used the regular disposable paper weewee pads, until I came across these doing a search for quality puppy pads. I have an 8lb dog and even with 3 walks a day he still uses a weewee pad 3x a day. At first I thought it was all about saving money, (and maybe being kind to the environment), but after some calculating, the savings aren't that much. I was buying my disposables at a good price, working out to about 20-25 cents a pad, 1 a day, that's about $75 a year, not terrible. 4 of these washable pads, plus 1 50-pack of disposables (to keep on hand when randomly necessary) would cost about that much anyway, so there are no savings (for me at least) in first year. And the savings for me over 4 years is only about $150.

BUT!! that's not what I love about them. Hard though my pup tries to go in the right place, sometimes he'll just be a little close to the edge of the regular paper pads and then there's a bunch of pee on my hardwood floor that seeps underneath the paper pad with plastic backing. Yuck. That's been going on for 9 months (which is how long i've had my pup). Well, I bought a pack of 2 of these pads 6 weeks ago (then bought another 2 pack) and have not had one bit of weewee on the floor since. Not only *that*! But these somehow absorb the smell much much better, Woohoo! When he has 3 walks a day I can leave the poochpad down for sometimes 2 days before changing it. I even left one pad down for 2 days once and after he let go this huge pee i thought for sure there would be something coming through the bottom of the pad, but nope, nothing. I also think they look a bit nicer than regular pads as they sit in the corner.

Re: washing. After 1 is ready to be changed i spray enzyme spray on it, run the shower over it for 30 seconds, and the pee is pretty much gone! I squeeze it out and line dry it, and it's perfect and ready to go again! So with just 4, I don't see myself every having some not available. Also, having them rinsed out means i can put them in my normal wash b/c there's really barely anything in the pad. (plus this way there's not a bunch of pee filled pads milling around in your house. After a normal wash, i feel like they are almost totally scent free, very impressive. I get the 20 x 27 inch medium for my 8lb dog.

So while I'll still have some disposables on hand for those random times (dog @ mom's house, pads all due for a wash, etc) I plan on using Poochpads from now on. : ). I will update if anything changes. (already updated this review 9/1/11)

3/24/12: Still love 'em. Now that i have less time i'm using paper pads at times, but i put them over the Poochpad. : ). So happy with these poochpads.

Cons: My dog hates it and avoids using it.

Other Thoughts: I could more then likely have trained my dog to use this with more effort, but for my situation using normal pads until house training was complete made more sense as she hated it so much. If your dog is going to use this forever, as in you aren't training it to go out, it will would be worth the extra time to train it.

I am taking my dog to Europe and was told I needed to bring a muzzle for him. He is a 7 pound chihuahua mix. I went to various pet stores and couldn't find a muzzle small enough for him. I finally went to a local pet groomer and asked if they had a muzzle that would fit him. They brought out this one in a size 0 and although he didn't like it, it did fit. I have had great success with the petsafe small dog training collar, when it's working. My dog who was aggressive with other dogs is like a lamb without having to use more than the beeper to remind him. also became easy to take in the car. But I have had trouble with these batteries. One quit after maybe 3 hours use. One wouldn't stop beeping. I changed out the battery and the collar stopped beeping so I know it was the battery. Also had trouble with the collar itself. I've given up on this product and now am searching for another brand that is hopefully more reliable
