Tri-Tronics Sport Junior G3 Training Collar

This is electronic dog collar is excellent. We have a young Jack Russell with a mind of her own and selective hearing. When I take her for walks in the field and take her off the leash, she has a tendency to run straight for the fenced dogs that line the right-of-way fields. Until getting this collar I spent a vast majority of our time walking over to the fences, leashing her, and taking her away. Often frustrated I would simply go home. All that ended with the Tri-Tronics Sport Junior. Now when I call her name she stops. When I tap the button on setting 2 she stops, turns, and runs. After 4 or 5 outings I seldom have to push the button as she is now reacting to my calls. I can't go on about how enjoyable this collar has made our walks. Now I even have a Chunk-It launcher and balls and we play catch. This is NOT what I would have done without the collar. I simply couldn't trust her to be that far away from me. While I haven't had to try out the full 1/4 mile distance, I can confirm the Junior G3 does works at 150 yards.

The red LED is also pretty awesome feature. We were walking the field and it was already dark. We stirred up a rabbit and off the dog went in pursuit of the rabbit. Before I knew it the dog and rabbit were out of my headlamp's view. Had it not been for the glowing LED I wouldn't have known where she went. Not only did the collar let me track the dog, a short continuous burst on setting 2 got her attention and she broke off the chase and returned to me.

Also, I thought I'd write up a little section on the levels of stimulation from this collar. I tried it on (it's only fair and the collar length out of the box is probably big enough for a cow.) I was surprised at just how light the stimulation was. Level 1 was barely noticeable literally I had to the hold the button to feel it. 2 was almost like a slight tickle the interesting part is that I keep the device on 2 for the dog and it's typically plenty to stimulate her attention. 3 is slightly more than 2 but and the stimulation is noticeable. 4 is about what I initially expected 1 to be. 5 is a little more than 4. 6 gets your attention quickly. 6 is the highest setting and it's uncomfortable more surprising than anything, it doesn't by any means hurt, it's just uncomfortable. I would say 6 is a big jump from 5 (just my opinion)but I don't have an electric meter built in to my skin to confirm. I was really surprised by the lack of jolt in these settings, I really did expect them to throw a lot more stimulation. With that being said, the 6 setting seem to be more than enough because I've never had to go any higher than a 3.

Another thing, we now spend our time chasing balls from the chunk-it as we walk. She spends a vast majority of the time sprinting after the ball and bringing it back. She can breath just fine throughout. She can drink water. She can bark (even out of breath a good/bad trait of Jack Russell's.) My point, the collar does not seem to obstruct her breathing.

I have a basset and they are notoriously slow, stubborn learners. I got him at a year and a half so training him should be that much more difficult. But thanks to the Tronics, "Patrick" has responded to "here" and "heel" beautifully. He still has some issues but considering and we haven't worked on "sit' yet but I fully expect him to do well there too.

He didn't like the collar probably because of his very loose neck skin which didn't make good contact consistently. Sometimes, I must have zapped him a bit too hard, causing him to react strongly. Eventually I found the number 4 signal strength worked best for him.

What's amazing about this training is that I have only used the device 5 times; he caught on that quickly. The DVD training program helped immensely. It pays to watch each segment a few times; there's a lot there.

I purchased my Tri-Tronics Sport Junior on December 21st, by February 1st the product no longer works, and I am a day late and a dollar short on my Amazon return policy.

The collar/ receiver and transmitter have gone through several batteries each, approximately $25 worth. I contacted Tri-Tronics customer service and received a woman who should not work in customer service, as she has no listening skills. With every description of the problem and my remedy (I.E. I replaced the batteries, 2 sets in each part and cleaned the contacts) the clam at customer service replied, "you need to replace the batteries".

Well no kidding...I already explained that.

She finally commented, "If you let the batteries drain too far the receiver/ collar processor will fail and the 2 parts (transmitter and receiver) will no longer communicate, you need to send the item back."

I don't remember reading that in the instruction book...

Lets see how this fiasco will turn out, until then I am without a training collar, and my GSD will have to go back in a pinch collar.

Don't buy this product from Amazon as it will probably fail and they won't help you get your money back. If you do still buy one, go to a store and keep your receipt so you have a better chance of getting your money back and buying a better product.

Very happy with overall use of this item. Straight-forward and easy to understand, made a difference as soon as we put it on the dog...he knew what it was as we had one before. A little disappointed that there isn't a pitch option before actually having to use the shock mode, but that was my fault for not reading up on. Overall happy with the product, like having a different dog when out for walks in the country.

It was time for a replacement leash. After reading several reviews on other leashes here on Amazon I selected this one. We've had it for a few weeks now and use it several times a day. Our dog is about 26 pounds so I decided on this one to give me a bit more control. It only has one control button to lock & release so we had to get use to it. Overall we are pleased with it and hopefully will have this one for several years.

Innotek Basic Contain and Train System

I like the idea of a containment system like this, which allows you to correct and contain. However, I think the implementation of the dog collars is severly lacking as far as the durability. When it is working, it does discourage the dogs from leaving our property. Since we have 1 1/2 acres of land, and 2 German short hair pointers, it is essential that they get exercise, but not leave the surrounding areas. It works fine when it is working, and the training does work good. But the collars seem to go bad within a couple of months, and the batteries need replacing on a very regular schedule every two months. And the batteries are relativity expensive (Usually over $6 at Radio shack, or higher). Thus it does cost more than $75 a year just for batteries. But in two years I have had to buy more than 7 collars just to have two that work. And the company doesn't seem to care much. I am sending 4 collars back to them to have them see why they have gone bad, but I had to suggest this, and ask them to study it. Furthermore, they did not say we would be happy to replace them, just that we will study why they went bad. They all exhibit the same problem and failure mode. I just think the engineering lacks something and they must have had a bad part in it that fails for some reason or other. I would seriously tell someone not to buy this product line from them, maybe another vendor, or try another line in their product lines, like I am, the IUC version (I am using the SD-3100 version). Since I have spent over $1200 over the past two years on trying to keep dogs in, I am not happy with this product. I will try their new version, but if it does not work, then I will switch vendors.

The other thing that does irritate, is that they have the zone system, but it does not work with the SD train and contain line. So you must spend some more money for another type of collar and system. Why can't they just have a universal system that all of the extras work with? And please don't give my some mumbo jumbo about it, for I am an engineer and know what does and doesn't work, and what can be designed and what can't. Like my sign said in my classroom "I always wanted to be and Engineer, now I are one". I don't know if the new IUC line works with the contain n train, because the literature is severly lacking and un-informative as to how things work, and what they work with.

While I can't compare this to other containment collars, I can remark on my experience with this system alone.

My chocolate lab has gone through four collars, one failed outright within the warranty period, three have cost me around $40 from Innotek. My dog's not particularly rough on the collars, but if there were means to open the collar receiver, I may have been able to repair the unit myself. Two of the instances, the parts inside the receiver can be heard rattling around inside. While the support staff is very helpful, I feel that I've have paid for this system twice by now, in the "warranty replacment" collars I've received (at a fee). I've read that Innotek's QC has fallen to the wayside, and if I didn't have to return this collar in order to get a new one, I'd take the chance on cracking it open to attempt a repair.

When working, it runs fine. Like other systems, read the directions, know the limitations, and it will work as advertised.

We bought these pads thinking they were the pads that turned the pee into gel or dried so quick our yorkies paws would not get wet with the pee. Instead, these are run of the mill just stay wet regular puppy pads. They are even more expensive than the good ones, ugh!!!! Very disappointed in this item, I would suggest they change their name because if the wrong person orders these as we did, they could tear Dry Paws apart because of their dogs wet paws.

All I can say is WOW! I have an 8 lb Dachshund who barks at anything. She literally will run out the door barking, just in case there's actually something there to bark at.It got so bad some neighbors were yelling at us over the fence at night, threatening to call the police. I started looking into bark collars and decided the shock collars are a bit extreme, especially for a small dog like mine. I saw this on QVC and decided to give it a try. I bought it here on Amazon with some refills, but was still sceptical to say the least. Well, I was shocked (No pun intended)by the results. After testing that it worked, I put it on her (a bit bulky for her small neck) and let her out. Of course she ran down the stairs ready to defend but when she barked and the short spray went off, she was immediately snapped out of that state of mind. OK, what was that? Bark! Spray. Hmmm,what the?! Bark, spray. Damn, when I bark I get sprayed with this stuff, I guess I better not bark. That was it!!!!!!!!! 3 barks, she figured it out, no more barking. What a Godsend. We put it on her, let her out, and there is never a peep. If you have any doubts, believe me when I say this is worth every penny. The only draw back I see is that the company says it's not waterproof and shouldn't be used if it's raining. I use it when it is, but just don't turn it on. She doesn't know it's off, lol. Don't worry about the Citronella. It's mild,but dogs don't like it. If you're really opposed the Citronella the scentless also works, but not as good as the scented. Bottom line is, if you have a dog that barks too much, give it a shot. if it doesn't you can always sell it on Ebay and get most of your money back. i hope this longwinded review helps......

I initially had high hopes of this collar. I will say it is 100% humane and the dogs are initially startled by the spray but mine did not get neurotic about it. I have 2 dogs one extremely smart and one not too bright. The not to bright dog is a 25lb beagle/rotweiler mix and is the barker of the 2. I put the collar on and she ran outside to bark and immediately got sprayed it stopped her in her tracks. Cease fire no more barking. Well the collar only holds about 4-5 sprays before it's empty. After being outside for an hour or so and some half attempts to bark which caused the spray to go off she realized the collar stopped spraying and then it was full throttle barking. I refilled it and she stayed quiet for a short time but eventually figured out that if she runs and barks the spray just blows by her and eventually runs out. Now it really doesn't work on her at all. She's immune to the citronella. My smart dog on the other hand (a 30lb beagle/border collie mix) realizes the spray is annoying and only barks once before stopping. She'll still test it from time to time (and I'm better about keeping it filled), but for the most part it works about 75% of the time on keeping her quiet. I ended up buying the PetSafe No-Bark Collar and am testing it out on the crazy barker. I'll write a review once I've given it a test run. BTW, you must stock up on extra batteries and citronella with the Multivet collar once the batteries run out or the collar is empty, the dogs quickly return to their old behavior. Good Luck!

I bought one to test it out because I was skeptical that it would work on my schnauzer and the price was a little higher than other citronella collars. My dogs will bark at anything and everything, so much so my neighbors complain. I put it on one of the dogs and the first time he barked it stopped him in his tracks. It makes a loud spray and the noise combined with the squirt startles the dog and he forgets why he was barking in the first place. A few weeks ago, I was clued into the fact that my dog barks while I'm gone a lot. This was not a training issue he never or almost never barks while I'm home beyond one quick warning bark, because he knows it's not acceptable. However, separation anxiety/hearing the neighbors open their next door apartment/hearing a truck go by made him very barky all day while I wasn't around. I set up a webcam and watched from work during the day while he barked himself crazy sometimes at things, sometimes because he was lonely, sometimes for no reason.

Either way, my landlord told me the dog needed to stop barking, or I needed to move out, so a quick fix solution was necessary. I had no interest in getting him a shock collar, and found one collar that vibrated like a cell phone but he really didn't seem to care, just kept barking through the vibration.

Then I decided to try the Innotek Anti-Bark Spray Collar. My dog is a small (~11.5 lb) dachsund, and the device is pretty big, but not so big that he can't lie down or move around. I had him wear it for a day or so with it turned off so that he could get used to it. Then I turned it on.

To test it, I walked out of the apartment, and shut the door. I heard him yelp and bark and heard the spray go off then... silence. Glorious silence. He ventured another test bark spray then quiet.

He doesn't like the collar but he tolerates my putting it on him. It does occasionally spray him for doing something that's NOT barking for instance, when I get home and he's trying to jump on me but it honestly doesn't happen that often and usually happens when he's doing something he shouldn't be (like jumping on people). He only wears it while I'm at work and it comes off when I'm home. It works great, three weeks out he knows what happens once the collar goes on and rarely even tries to bark when I leave. (He also knows, incidentally, that if the collar's off he'll be able to bark without consequence so it's not effective as a training device).

I'm deducting a star because while the spray/microphone piece is excellent, the collar itself is fairly low quality nylon. My dog actually ripped it to shreds by pawing at it repeatedly for a couple days (then very helpfully placed it on my pillow. Screw you Mom, indeed). Luckily, the device isn't anchored to the collar, so I replaced it with a higher quality buckle collar which seems to be holding up well.

My oldest Yorkie, Sparky (The Barky) has always suffered from separation anxiety and would bark uncontrollably when I left the house. I recently moved into an apartment with my two Yorkies after having lived in a house. Needless to say, our new neighbor was not pleased with all the barking whenever I left. He was not very nice even though he owned a dog himself and I had told him I was doing my best to try to solve the problem. I do admit he still cracks a few small barks here and there as I leave but not bad and then he stops. He is learning that he is ok, regardless if I leave and he barks. I still give him an all natural calming aid and I have learned to just relax and act like it's no big deal that I'm leaving. So if you still have trouble with your dog try pairing this item with other alternatives. Yorkies are barkers and my dog was stubborn. It's amazing how well this worked. Now he's more calm and I am too! If he does bark the citronella smell is great, like a burst of air freshener. It is bit bulky for smaller dogs but I think that that itself is a deterrant to barking, but really it's not that heavy. I wouldn't recommend leaving it on 24/7. I just use it when needed. You can also cut the excess collar material so it doesn't hang and bother your pet. I have been very pleased with the results! Good luck:)

Unfortunately this was the second muzzle I had to order in less than 48 hours. A little over a hundred dollars later I had two muzzles, one that did not fit properly and a second that was destroyed in less than thirty seconds. I wish I could have uploaded a picture to show, but the problem is that the grommets that hold the leather straps to the wire basket are about a centimeter from the edge of the leather, as well as the leather straps being a little on the thin side in width and thickness; when the dog tries to remove the muzzle it will break very easily. The fit is another vital issue that needs to be addressed before deciding on what one to purchase and I wish they would include a page or link to a video on how to size your dog. A great video on how to do this that I found is from leerburg and can be found by searching "muzzle" on their site. They also have a video on how to train your dog on how to accept the muzzle which I feel is very important.

Aside from the product not meeting my dog's needs, my whole experience with this seller I would rate positive. The shipping was fast (I ordered Friday, it was on my doorstep Saturday morning!) and making the returns was very easy and at no expense to me.

Herm Sprenger Extra Heavy Pinch Collar, 20-Inch, 3.8-Mm

I have a 9 month old 75 pound Rottweiler.

She has been walking on a leash since she was 2 months.

As she grew older and stronger controlling the walk became more

and more work. Slip leashes or traditional choke chains were not doing the job.

For the most part she is very well behaved, however when a smell

catches her attention she will jerk away from our stride to try and check it out.

I saw this type of a collar used by Cesar on "The dog whisperer" for dogs that need to have their tugging corrected.

Since purchasing this Sprenger collar her behavior is nearly perfect during our nightly walks.

I was skeptical about how effective this would be on my sweet female German Shorthaired Pointer. If you know anything about them, as birddogs, they are easily distracted and love to run at will, after birds or anything that moves. Since my dog also gets to exercise daily off her leash, where she can run freely for long periods of time, leash walking with me on our neighborhood greenways trail didn't come naturally to her. She used to constantly pull and try to run ahead or sniff all the other people and dogs on the trail.

Literally, from the first minute she had this collar on, she seemed comfortable and didn't pull. Before today, I would walk her straining to keep her in the "heel" position, and I'd be exhausted before I'd gone half the intended distance. Tonight we doubled that distance and both came home happy and feeling great. The collar is very heavy duty, and I probably could have gotten the next smaller size and weight, because I did have to remove a half dozen links to fit her properly. She's nearly full grown at about 50 lbs. I can foresee maybe having to put a link or two back sometime in the future, but probably not soon. VERY IMPORTANT as another reviewer said, type "HOW TO PROPERLY FIT A PINCH COLLAR" into your search engine and look for Youtube videos from other dogowners. The trick is getting the collar to stay in the right position and not allowing it to be too tight or worse, too loose. It was easy after watching two or three others demonstrating it. The collar does not work like a choke collar!! It SHOULD NOT slide over your dog's head when putting it on. It's a little tricky to separate the links to get it on and off, but if I can do it (not having the greatest hand strength,) most people probably can. Good luck and enjoy!

We have a 150 lb cane (cahnay) corso. We kept his old puppy pinch collar but it was weakening. Every time he would scratch his neck he would pop it off.

After getting this collar, I am very confident that it won't pop off. It stays in place a little better than the regular pinch collar, because the prongs face in both ways. However our dog always shakes his head and the collar slides down his neck a bit. Cane corso's have very thick necks so it's hard to find one that stays up top. Each prong is very large and it's already just tight enough so I cannot add or remove another link.

I think the thickness of it makes it a little harder to correct him after he shakes his head and it goes to the base of his neck. When it is up at the top of his neck he really respects it. I might try one size down just because the prongs are so thick that it's a little hard to correct him, but this collar does exactly what I need it to so I'd recommend it to anyone with a giant dog.

Natures Miracle Quick Results Training Pads, 80 Count

I'm not as enthusiastic about Nature's Miracle Quick Results Training Pads as the other reviewers seem to be. I'm currently using them for the third time the first time, three years ago with a male Westie; the second two years ago with a female Scotty; and at the moment with a male Cesky Terrier. You may ask me why, if I'm not entirely satisfied with the pads, have I continued to use them? And the answer is: They're better than the alternative particularly if the alternative is newspaper.

My reluctance to give the pads a five star endoresement goes mostly to the manufacturer's claim that their "fresh grass scent" somehow promotes house breaking. That has not been my experience. I will concede that terriers are notoriously hard to house break it took almost a year for our Scotty to get it right without fail but putting that aside, nothing about their "scent" seems to attract a puppy. What is important is "place." You have to make sure that they are in the same place, each and every time and of course, as you learn your pup's "restroom signals" and schedule, you need to take him/her outside as often as possible.

But like I said, the pads beat newspaper, hands down. They are much more absorbent, easier to handle, and much less likely to "soak" through, (they also don't transfere ink to your carpet as newspaper sometimes does). And while a used pad is not odor free, there is some mitigation of smell.

A tip on prices: Check Amazon carefully. For some reason, there are large variations in price, depending on the vendor and package size. The 80-count package is often a substantial savings when compared to the other sizes.

[An Up-date: 9/13/2012 I just thought that I'd add a couple of comments concerning the "soaking through" issue that many recent reviewers have raised. I'm sure that people are honestly reporting their experience, but mine has not been the same. Sherlock my male Cesky and the youngest of my three terriers is now three years old and fully house broken, but I still keep an area "padded up" so the dogs have a spot where they can go in "emergencies." Each of my dogs weighs in at about 22 pounds and if they've had to "hold it" for awhile, each of them can produce a copious amount of pee and I've never had a pad soak through. I'm not sure why some reviewers have found that the pads can't handle a "three pound Yorkie" it may have something to do with how long the pad sits, after it's been used not more than a couple of hours at my house. I guess the bottom line is that if you're in the market for puppy pads, Nature's Mircle is a pretty good product and at the price of an 80-count bag you can probably afford to check 'em out for yourself.]

Before I bought Nature's Miracle pads, my dog did not have the faintest idea what potty pads were for. Sometimes he would eat or nap on them, all the while relieving himself pretty much everywhere but the pads. I tried using fake urine and even some of his own urine (I blotted up an accident with a pad), with no luck. I really think that the type of pad helped him figure it all out. I can't smell any difference myself, but I believe he does.

I agree that the placement of the pad plays a big role, ie, he knows he can relieve himself in a particular spot, but I also think the smell is important. I ran out of these pads once, and put down some newspaper for him. He sniffed it very carefully, and decided it wasn't the right place to go. Similarly, when I move, I always make sure to show him where the pad is, and he appears to recognize the scent.

They are very absorbent and hold smells well (as in, you don't smell them). I love this product.

I agree with the other reviewer who said to check prices carefully on Amazon. For some reason, the eighty pad bag is cheaper than the fifty.

We have two 5.5 month old small breed puppies, and since January we've tried several different brands of puppy pads in addition to newspapers. These are the best ones we've used yet. They are very absorbant, thick, and that means far less messes, no beneath the pad wetness, and the puppies are far more accurate with these pads -I guess they like them better too! :)

I ordered these from Amazon to use when I hurt my back and could not lug home 14 lb jugs of cat litter. They saved the day, my floors, and my three cats took right to them. I placed two of them in the bottom of the cat litter box and presto! The cats used them immediately. Each pad more than contains a full male bladder of urine. I just roll them up and throw them in the trash can that I keep next to the litter box in the laundry room. They do not leak when I roll them up. They do not leak out the sides because of the special green liner around the pad. I couldn't be happier. I am actually thinking of giving up on cat litter altogether and just using these. It would save my back and a lot of volume in the trash can.

I had been purchasing these puppy pads at a local pet store here in Tallahassee. Last time I was running out of pads I looked on Amazon. The prices on Amazon are at least 50% less than a nation-wide chain pet store. I ordered three 80 pad packages at one time and am highly pleased. I already knew these pads to be good ones as I have used them for years with my two Shih Tzus and one Yorkie. The pads do not leak and are a perfect size for my ten pound +/dogs. If you use these pads I suggest ordering several packages of them at one time. You might save money (shipping) in the long run. I ordered three 80 pad packages at one time and the size of the box was manageable. I highly recommend these puppy pads for you and your dog. As an after-thought, I cut a oak log that is seven inches in diameter and sixteen inches tall. The log probably weighs about twelve pounds or so. I put this log (standing up) on one of the pads I keep on the floor. My male dogs (two of them) will pee on the log just like on the trees outside. The little girl dog is a perfect "lady" and would not consider using the floor without the pad in place. The log is just in her way and she mainly uses the other pad where the log is not placed. The "boys" are a little more less constrained, however. They consider a piece of pine straw on the floor (or anything else) as something that needs "wetting". After I put the oak log on the center of the puppy pad they liked the idea of lifting their leg to do their business. Of course, this has nothing to do with the puppy pads but just an idea someone might want to use with this excellent puppy pad product.

I think I got a defective unit, because the collar did not work on any setting except vibrate. If I turned it on beep or shock mode, it would vibrate when I pushed the launch button. The company was very helpful and let me return the unit for a refund.

I live in a rural area with neighbors about 1000 yards away. I needed a long range collar to reach our pup when she went over there. This collar works well at that range. This collar is not a heavy duty or rugged all weather coller, so if you are a serious dog trainer, get something with more quality. It is not the most user friendly, which isn't a problem for me, but could be for some. I think it's a good unit for the price.

My 10-year old pug loves Buddy Biscuits. He is allergic to most products that contain chicken. The duck flavor is his favorite. The price is good, as this is for a pack of 4. The biscuits are really soft, but do have a strong odor. I recommend storing biscuits in a plastic container or glass jar to keep fresh and eliminate the odor.

I love the fact that they are moist and soft, easily broken into even smaller nibbles (intact they are about as tall as a quarter, but not so wide), so the dogs can get a tasty morsel without eating a whole treat, and tiny dogs can enjoy them too. When I open the treat bag at the dog park all the dogs come running. The gingerbread man style shape is very cute though obviously the dogs don't care. The duck flavor is very hard to find locally. Amazon's prices are very reasonable and I'm glad not to have to chase these down. Cloud Star also makes crunchy treats that resemble these as well. My dog and her friends love all of them.

Oh, and unlike cutting up Red Barn or Natural Balance sausage rolls for treats (which are wonderful too), these guys don't spoil after a day or two. They are shelf stable. Very handy to keep in the car.

I have a dog who barks a lot and we have been training him not to bark as much by using the "Quiet" command and giving him a treat every time he is quiet (first we conditioned him before he barked by saying "quiet and giving him a treat every time we said that word now when we say that word he immediately stops whatever he is doing and looks for a treat).

Treats we have used in the past were good but because they were dry, they weren't as stinky and didn't get his attention during one of his barking rants. These treats are soo stinky and my dog loves them!

I love them because they are easy to break up into 10+ pieces for training since they are soft. Also, compared to most other snacks they are healthy with duck meat being the first ingredient. Although I wouldn't consider these treats to be the healthiest you can get, they are certainly not the unhealthiest. We use the duck flavor because my dog has diarrhea when he has chicken, beef, or salmon and these work well for him.

Maybe this will work well for some dogs, but this didn't do a thing for my Bichon. She'd sniff where I put this product down, than walk away and pee somewhere else. I'd say instead buy some of the bells that hang from the door, they're called doggie doorbells. This was what saved us with potty training ultimately.
