My dog no longer walks me so I have always recommended these for training your dogs on a leash. Many so called experts and animal lovers would like to tell you that these are inhumane but they are not in anyway a threat or a danger if used correctly and positioned around the dogs neck in the right location. My dogs have always been trained with these because they work (Gauranteed) and have never had any signs of physical damage around their necks from the spikes. Do the research on how to install these onto your dog, where it should be on their neck, etc and never yank back hard on the leash and just let the spikes do the work keeping a short leash length and the dog at your side and you'll learn to love and use this product for future training needs. Great product and within 3 days of using it the dog now only walks at my chosen speed and stops when I stop at my side. Just a tip for users with stubborn or hyper dogs "Don't stop using this at the first sign of improvement, continue the use of this collar 2 months after they have shown signs of not fighting you so that they can learn this good behavior and lock it into memory so that when they get to go back to a plain old collar they'll still behave well. If you think these are inhumane or cruel it's only because your dog is yelping in pain because you are not sane enough to use the product as directed around the proper section of their neck. I've used these on 5 dogs that I've owned, never had any of the five yelp or whimper in pain or show any signs of skin damage at all. Inhumane and cruel pet owners are the ones that yell at and/or beat their dogs and use great products like these incorrectly.

I've owned a similar collar before, and I was not disappointed when this product arrived. The ends are more rounded, which I appreciate because the point is not to cause pain, but to remind the dog when they misbehave. It's also more solid that the previous version I had (by another company).

My 120 pound beast used to drag me around the block, but now he walks right at my side. When correction is needed, the gentlest of tugs is all it takes. It has made walking so much more enjoyable for both my dog and I, and the neighbors are constantly complimenting me on what a well behaved pup I have.

To those that call it abuse or cruelty, tell that to my dog who wags his tail like a fool whenever the collar and leash come out!

Collars like this work wonders for the very stubborn or previously badly trained muscular dogs.

Those who claim that they are inhumane have never had to deal with these issues and do not understand

that all the dog has to do to avoid discomfort is to simply not pull too hard or lunge at people, cats,

children or other things of interest. This goes a long way in preventing future injuries both to dog

and others (my shoulder hurt so badly! lol) AND decreases the dogs chances of ending up in the pound

Easy Walk Harness - Small/Medium, Green

Oscar, my little weiner dog, keeps stepping over the leash when attached to this harness. Althought the harness is the right size (he is about 18 pounds), the ring on his chest droops too low to the ground. I improved this by clipping the leash into both his normal collar and the Easy Walk Harness at the same time. As long as I keep him on a short leash it works fine.

For a dachshund, I think a no-pull type harness would work better, because they attach to the leash between the shoulder blades. Of course, this is not as good for puppy training, but we could go for longer walks without having to unravel the leash from his front legs.

At the time, I bought 2 of these: one for each of our dogs. It works best with our older dog, who has filled out a bit more than our younger one. He is a little more muscular, so the harness seems to fit him better. The only complaint I have is that the front strap that goes across their chest does not remain "adjusted". When you tighten the front strap, after one or two uses, it completely loosens up. Other than that, it's a sturdy product that has tremendously helped our dogs. They rarely pull on walks now, and when they do, they are easily corrected.

The only reason i give this a 4/5 is I think the material is a bit heavy for the size of the dog. I've had a similar harness in the past that was lighter.

A comparison of Dogtra and Tritronics and my personal thoughts and experiences

Tri-Tronics Pro 200 G3 collar is the one I settled on after researching dog e-collars extensively (dogtra and cheaper petco collars). I will write/ link to a more extensive review with pictures and video at a later date. Will provide the url to it in an update but suffice it to say here are some of my findings and I hope this helps a dog lover with an unmanageable/ aggressive dog.

PLEASE, if you are considering `giving up' on your dog read on this is a tool that if used properly can really help your dog become a better citizen despite what people tell you about dogs and shock collars/ e-collars.

E-collars are for dogs that are `hard' dogs. This term refers to an aggressive dog toward other animals or humans and views your commands and hollering as `optional'.

The opposite is a `soft' dog may not follow your instructions but listens and tucks its tail between its legs when you raise your voice these collars SHOULD NOT be used with soft dogs (more on this later). For a very good video on this and how to use e-collars see link below:

We have had a rescue for six years and have contemplated getting an e-collar/ shock collar but have been very reluctant b/c it can cause pain to the animal. Last winter we found a small dog abandoned to die in the woods by our house (still makes me very sad to think that people do this). Our shepherd-mix is very aggressive, so the problem we had was she was ready to kill the little guy. Luckily we have a large home and could separate the two dogs and worked on slowly introducing them. Took some 6 months to where we could allow them into the same room (on leashes). Given the big dogs aggression we needed to get her under voice command every time. Also, given her high prey drive and tendency to roam we walk her on a 50ft. leash. She did break the leash a couple of times and it took a good hour to catch her as she would take off chasing an animal in the woods.

Along comes the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 collar. After following the leerburg dvd instructions and some 12 months later I can truly WISH I HAD BOUGHT THIS SIX YEARS AGO. I can take our big dog off leash in the woods and SHE ALWAYS COMES BACK. I can make her stop in her tracks with my voice command NO. I have used the shock feature about 10 times in one year. Only one time have I used it on a high setting (66% of full power). The rest of the time it has been on low settings (16%) it snaps her out of her prey drive and makes her pay attention to me. I MUST EMPAHSIZE I ALWAYS HAVE DOG TREATS IN MY FANNY PACK for both the little dog and the big one and I FOLLOWED THE ABOVE MENTIONED DVD INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY. Had I not bought the training DVD I would have done it all wrong so I cannot recommend the product enough (see url above).

Why I chose the Tri-Tronics Pro 200:

1. I wanted a collar that would allow me to control my dog from a distance. If you are in the woods and there are rock outcrops the stated distance on e-collars at which you can control your dog drops off considerably. Given how much I love my dogs and how paranoid I was about the distance issue I wanted one that would, without a doubt, control my big dog, whatever the terrain I therefore settled for the one with a range of one mile. Keep in mind I had never used an e-collar but envisaged letting my dog roam free with the little dog (the recent addition) probably following her and wanted to ensure that I could control her over a long distance both dogs off-leash. This was the ultimate goal and I was very unsure how long this would take but wanted to have a collar that would work to satisfy this endpoint.

2. There are two different ways to `shock' your dog. One is `CONTINUOUS' lasts for ~10 seconds the other is a `NICK' last for ~0.5 seconds and is momentary. Reading up and watching all the material I could find I felt that the NICK in the end would be what I used more than the continuous. A year later I can confirm I was right.

3. Gradations More the gradations for the shock nick or continuous the better so I could dial in the exact setting to get our big dogs attention fine tuning the device to her sensitivity.

4. Expandability keep in mind we had just found the second dog. He was small, very badly abused. I wasn't sure with time if he too would turn out to be a stubborn guy so I wanted to be able to use two collars (one on each dog) controlled with one remote (in my hand) if need be. After a year I can say with certainty that this is not the case at all and so I will never use an e-collar on the little fellow. He does wonderfully with my voice commands.

5. The two manufacturers that came to the top early on were Dogtra and Tri-tronics. Each of these manufacturers have several different models and this is where it gets tricky and why I am writing this review (for now without the pictures and videos of my beta-testing). I decided I needed a 1 mile range and as many nick gradations I could get. I looked at the Dogtra 3500 NCP and the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 because they met my criteria. I decided to buy both and then keep the one I felt was best returning the other one.

6. The Dogtra has 127 continuous gradations for both the nick and the continuous mode. It is smaller than the tri-tronics and I was leaning toward this manufacturer. After having bought both to test out I quickly realized that the tri-tronics is actually far better for both the dog and the trainer. The way the e-collar works is there is a component that sits around the dogs neck (the receiver) and the transmitter (you have in your hand). The component on the dog's neck has two prongs that push into the dog's neck and this is what carries the electric shock to the animal after you press the button on the transmitter. The prongs on the Dogtra were brutal. They were significantly more pronounced and pushed into the dogs neck in a way that I thought was excessive, especially when compared to the Tri-tronics design. Keep in mind I was using the SMALLEST prongs from both manufacturers. The prongs have threads that screw into the receiver and you get a couple of different sizes in each box. Dogtra is a Korean company and I felt that keeping the dog comfortable while it has the receiver around its neck was not a priority and came through in the design. Remember the receiver is only activated for a very small fraction of the time the dog has this around its neck. This was something that I never did see in any reviews and was surprised to find out when I actually had both units in my hand and was beta-testing them for my use.

7. The Dogtra has 127 gradations while the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 has 18 for Nick and still fewer 6 for Continuous. On the face of it I thought this was a major drawback with the Tri-Tronics Pro 200. Also, the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 has a bigger transmitter (the part that sits in your hand). Surprisingly the Tri-Tronics is really a more thoughtful design and SUPERIOR product despite having less fidelity in the transmitter. Turns out the 18 gradations for the Nick and the 6 for continuous in the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH. IMO there is also a design flaw in the Dogtra transmitters (regardless of model #) that again I only discovered because I bought both and was trying them out side-by-side and I haven't seen mentioned anyplace.

The Dogtra feels like a thick cell phone (think Motorola startac vintage but 2x thicker) that has a knurled knob where the antennae would go that you rotate and as you rotate it the level changes in a little LED screen on the face of the device, displaying the setting value (between 1 and 127). As you rotate it the value changes from 1 127. You have two rubberized buttons labeled nick or continuous positioned on the side of the instrument (where the volume buttons on a cell phone would be). You also have a vibrate button (more about this later) but this is on the face of the device above the LED display.

The Tri-Tronics Pro 200 has a knob on the top, with hard stops, and these go from 1-6. This device looks like a 2D maglite flashlight, albeit smaller and lighter. On the SIDE of the cylindrical device you have three buttons that control the levels of the shock low, middle and high. Take a look at the picture else it will be very confusing.

So, if you set the knob on TOP of the device to a 3 and press the low button on the SIDE of the device the dog get a nick at the 3 level. If you press the middle button instead (again on the SIDE) the dog is now nicked at a 9 level. If you press the low and middle buttons together the dog is now nicked at a level 12. So, you are ramping the level at which your dog is being shocked very rapidly. The third button is colored red and will provide a continuous shock (for ~10 secs) at a high setting (keep in mind the knob on the top stays at a 3 in each of the scenarios I listed). This is VERY IMPORTANT in your training and let me give you a real scenario where this became CRITICAL.

My large dog was out in the woods and as I have mentioned she has an incredibly high prey drive. She saw a woodchuck and took off after it down a valley (this is after we got the e-collars but were still testing them out). She was off leash b/c of how well the e-collars worked out. She had the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 on that day. I use it at a "3" on the top of the device and press the low button to get her attention. So, I am nicking her at 16% of the full power. Once she had locked onto the Woodchuck and took off I could not get her attention at this setting or the middle setting. I was worried she would catch and kill the woodchuck and so I pressed the red button, again with the setting on the top remaining unchanged and still at 3 (Here it is 66% of full power). She came back squealing really quickly. This has been the ONLY time in a little over a year that I used the high setting on her and I have never had a problem stopping her with a NO voice command since. Had I had the Dogtra system I would have had to have fiddled with the knob first, raised the setting level, and then pressed the continuous shock button. In the heat of the moment I am quite sure I would not have gotten this right and it would have taken me longer because I would have been messing with device. With the Tri-Tronics set up you are pressing a large button, without even really looking at the device in your hand. So, I went from pressing one button to pressing one above it almost reflexive never taking my eye off my dog. I think if you are training you want there not to be a time lag of any kind so there is no confusion in the dogs mind. Also, in this instance, I was able to avoid an untoward incident. If you have an aggressive dog you need to be able to switch to the highest setting instantly, without taking your eye off the dog.

8. Both units clearly work well. I think the Tri-Tronics Pro 200 is a better unit. If you have a dog that you are considering euthanizing or giving up for adoption because of behavior issues PLEASE CONSIDER trying an e-collar Dogtra or Tritronics in conjunction with the video I mention above. You will find your dog changes dramatically within a week. If you follow the instructions and the prep work in the video to the letter the first 15 minutes where you actually use the e-collar on the animal will have a DRAMATIC impact on behavior. Please do the prep work, it takes about 2 weeks but the results are truly stunning.

It took us rescuing our little dog to actually look into an e-collar for the Shepherd-mix. I wish we had done this sooner because she now roams without a leash and really enjoys herself on walks where before she was always on leash. I am happy to report the two dogs are now best of friends and the little fella actually loves the Shepherd more than he does us.

Our dog, an 11 year old lab mix, has struggled with arthritis and issues in his hips. Our vet suggested a product like this and we have tried several favors now of the Happy Hips brand.

I can certainly say he loves these -as another reviewer mentioned, they're now an expected part of the morning routine and the look of betrayal should we run out ... Well, we don't run out often.

The change in his mobility was gradual, but noticeable, it was more noticeable after we stopped giving him the strips for about two weeks after our first batch ran out. Suddenly, he was struggling to get up the stairs again, and the sudden decline was shocking. We checked with our vet who said this was a common reaction to,supplements like these, after a day or two of the strips again he was back to a normal, active, happy dog.

We've used these for about 3 years now and never noticed any issues with quality or strange smells. Our dog reports he likes the lamb and chicken, but the duck is by far his favorite.

After discovering that our dog had arthritis in two legs and spinal disc degeneration, we took her to a veterinary specialist who closely examined our dog's food for irritants and inflammation triggers. These treats were one of the few things the vet did not disapprove of.

Apparently chicken causes a number of physical and behavioral problems in canines, but duck is okay. What's even better about Happy Hips is that they contain glucosamine, which is beneficial to animals' joints. However, the amount of it is minimal so if your dog has arthritic issues, you should invest in some sort of glucosamine supplement to mix in your dog's food.

I've used Happy Hips and Vitality for years and there's no denying how effective the Dogswell treats are. The problem is the fact that there are constantly problems with their products because all their treats are made in China. It's a little odd because their food is made in the US. At first, it wasn't really an issue because the punishment for mistakes is severe in China so the issues were always dealt with. Problems with the chicken etc. were handled and people thought everything was fine. I work at a dog store so I learn things that not everybody will necessarily know, although I imagine everybody has access to the information if they look for it. The main thing I learned about all the Dogswell treats is that they treat the meat with quite a bit of radiation. The FDA has guidelines for the limits on how much radiation they can detect but it's hard to figure out how they handle that sort of thing with dog treats. I know that the Dogswell treats have been found to have something like double the amount allowed for human food. So far, my dog hasn't seemed to have any problems but my first dog died of cancer and I'm not entirely sure if this might have contributed since aside from the cancer she basically never had any health problems during her life.

I've been looking at other products, especially for joint products, and haven't really found any that have the same dosage that the Happy Hips contains. Most of the other treats are half or less, which would be fine except for the fact that I have to give my dog a significant amount every day so it's nice to have the higher dosage. The extra expense for the other products wouldn't be such a big deal for me. My dog is definitely worth whatever I have to spend. Part of the problem is that he has a sensitive stomach so there are very few treats he can have. That means I need to limit the number and kinds of treats I give him. I'm still using the Happy Hips and Vitality for now since he seems to be okay for the moment. However, I'm mostly doing that because I don't have another plan yet so I'm just continuing to do what I've always done with him. I think it would be a good idea for people to look for alternatives just like I am though.

For the cost alone, this was a no-brainer. Buying this bundle was cheaper than buying a bag dispenser and the bells separately. It didn't take long to train our puppy with the bell, as she's quickly learned to nudge it with her nose to signal when she needs to go. And the bag cady/dispenser is easy to clip onto the handle of a retractable lease. It zips, which also makes it super convenient for storing some snacks on a walk. All in all, this was a fantastic purchase.

The bells are loud enough to be heard in our very active household. There are 3 bells attached to the strap with an elastic band to hang on to a door or stair banister. The bag holder is standard but a nice bonus that it comes with it.

I have a small dog (lhasa also) and he has to jump to get to the bells, it needs to be longer. the part that hooks on the door knob fell off after just a short while. It gets the job done but it would be worth it to get something that lasts.

Large Martingale Pink Paisley Patterened Dog Collar

Mrs. Figg has been living in a hand-me-down collar for years, and after being called "Him" one time too many I broke down and looked for something that was a little more girly. This collar is super sturdy, nicely finished and even though Figg has long nighttime scratching events, it's stayed nice for weeks.

OUT! Dog Training Pads with Moisture Lock

I bought two of 50 packs and was very disappointed. They aren't the same quilted pads OUT distributes from Target. They weren't quilted and the urine ran off and leaked before it absorbed. I called OUT at 1-800-448-8552 and they confirmed they make two differnt grades of pads with the exact same name the only difference is the better quilted ones have a handle at the top of the package. Until Amazon sells this version saving $5 from Amazon over Target isn't worth it if you use that much in paper towels cleaning up the leaks.

The weather is sometimes bad here so I trained my Yorkie to use a litter box. I lined the pan with these pads and they seem to work well. Not as much tracking. The urine odor is there, but not nearly as bad as it has been with other pads. Much better absorption. I will be buying these again.

Last year I bought a package of Out pads that came with an additional 10 pads free. The quality was excellent. The plastic was quilted and the padding was even and absorbant. With my most recent purchase the paddding is clumpy and uneven, they are considerably smaller and the plastic is of poor quality. I will never buy this product again.

D.T. Systems 1125DT No Bark Trainer, Black

There's no remote the picture is wrong. You turn it on/off and adjust the setting by touching a magnet to the side. There's one on the collar, but you have to take it off to do that. There's also one for your keychain. Red LED blinks to say it's on. Fast means time to recharge.

The adjustable setting is great. 0-9. 0 you can't even feel. 3 tingles a bit. 4 surprises you... that's where I stopped :) I'm using 4 and so far it helps. The sensor doesn't go off on little noises but it gets her when she starts to get loud. And it's a small dog (8lbs).

I haven't noticed this go off undeservedly yet. The collar is very adjustable. I can't think of a dog it wouldn't fit. I just cut the slack.

This seems to work good if it would stay put and keep a charge..I own 2 others 1 is the Spray Sensor and the other the Shock Collar. My only complaint is it won't stay put!! And the charge is not as long as I was hoping for. My dog isn't stupid and she is the type of barker that once she gets going she is addicted to barking which drives us crazy!! The Spray Collar I got she figured out that if she kept barking it would go empty and my other Shock Collar would shock no matter what so she learned to put up with it so of course I didn't want her to be shocked for no reason at all. This one here I had to set to 8 and yes it worked immediately but it will not stay on her where it is suppose too so am still trying to get it to stay put and I can't make it any tighter or she can't breath (she is a 58 pound dog)..for the price I am actually disappointed but I am not giving up yet..will put the longer prongs on once the charge is up again and that is the other complaint it takes 14 hours before another charge to be complete. Okay if she has to wear the dang thing to learn to not bark why doesn't the charge last. UGH!! so now I will have to start all over again. She doesn't wear it 24 hours a day she mainly has to have it on for several hours in the afternoon but at night from 7 to 6 in the morning is when she needs it and now the battery is dead. Will try again tonight I guess otherwise will return it and give up...lol..To be Continued!! To anyone who is wondering YES I have worked with her for 5 years with all kinds of training guess she likes her voice and she is actually a well behaved young lady except for her barking!! Bark bark BARK bark that is her pattern and then she starts pacing. She hates dog runs (she tore one completely up..:-/) only likes her chain (for her safety)but she isn't on it all the time only when I have to be inside. She isn't a house dog we live in the country. Plus she has 3 other dogs she is with..I am totally confused why she Barks barks BARKS barks..driving me crazy and don't want to get rid of her she is family!!

PetSafe Lickety Stik

Since neither of my 2 dogs can write about this new Lickety Stik, I will do my best.

A new idea for treats is always welcomed. We had 3 flavors of Stiks, Bacon, Chicken and Liver. We tried all three on both Sundae and Casey. Sundae licked all three and seemed to like them all. Casey, however, wouldn't try any of the three, just turning his head in apparent disgust (lol). Having had dogs my whole life, you never can tell what a dog will like or dislike. I didn't give this 5 stars, because of some functional reasons, not because Casey didn't even try it. First, the lick ball is exactly like a deodorant ball. As a matter of fact, the container reminds me of an Arrid Rollerball Deodorant bottle exactly. It doesn't move freely by just licking, you have to gently squeeze the bottle for the liquid to be available to the dog. If you squeeze too hard, it drips onto the floor. Other than that, it seems to be enjoyable. It is supposed to be healthy, but I had to use a magnifying glass to read the rather small label.

Update July/September 2012: Sad to say both my beautiful puppies in this video have passed on. They were both 12 years old.

I am a veterinarian with 7 years experience, and I have 3 Great Danes. I am always looking for safe, effective, fun, and innovative new pet products. I saw the video for this product, and definitely agree that carrying a pocketful of crumbling treats isn't much fun for training/rewards, so decided to give it a try. All 3 of my girls tried to bite the bottle at first (and I think most dogs will), but within a few seconds, all of them figured it out, and were licking away very happily, each taking their turn sitting down for me. I also recently used it to help keep them standing still while my 8 year old daughter gave them baths outside with the hose on a nice warm day....much less mess than doing it in the tub inside! It was also handy when we went for a short hike at a local park a while back, as I am training the 2 younger Danes to wear backpacks (that's a whole other story!). Even if the dogs jump in the river wearing their backpacks and get them soaked, their treats won't get soggy. The only thing I would like to see is using a liquid treat that's maybe a bit healthier for them...the ingredient list on the Lickety Stik looks like a lot of processed stuff. It does have a bit of an odor, too, but I didn't find it that strong or offensive like some of the other people here did. And I think it's the odor that really draws the dogs to come check it out...otherwise, why would they want to just lick a plastic roller ball?

Also, I think it would be nice to have a bottle that is just a little bit larger for the large/giant breeds like mine...but this does work well regardless. Finally, I think it would be great to have a refillable bottle, so there would be less waste...500 licks goes fast when you're training 3 big dogs!

Oh, and yes, I will re-order this, and do recommend it.

It's been several weeks of using it and there is still a ton of licking left, definitely getting my moneys worth out of this treat.

Another thing that has been nice is the ability to keep this in my pocket without making a mess. So going for a walk with it has been nice (and a great way to keep his attention when there are other not well behaved dogs around).

UPDATE -

Well the puppy dog has spoken... he loves Lickety Stik!

When we first presented it to him he was a bit unsure and tried to bite the stick which was kind of cute but he quickly realized he had to lick it.

Now every time the Lickety Stik comes out as a reward or to teach him something, he just can't wait to lick the bejesus out of it.

Not only does the dog love it and responds really well to it, it's made in the USA!

This is a very unique, clean, easy to use, easy to carry, and fun treat for your dog. I would highly recommend this to most anyone. Way to go PetSafe!

Izzy, our mini schnauzer, is very food motivated. Schnauzers have a tendency to get chunky though, so rewarding her with food every time she does a trick is a balancing act between giving her something she likes but not having her snack with treats all day.

At 1 calorie per 10 licks, along with a fun interactive way to give her the treat, the lickety safe is fun and healthy. She had no trouble at all figuring out how to lick the deodorant like ball. I was first introduced to this brand through BarkBox, a subscription company that sends you a box of various pet-related items each month. My dog loved these treats! I like that they are natural and grain-free treats as we try and feed our dog the best treats and dog food due to her being prone to itchy skin. They are also made in the US and the first ingredient is... chicken! (not any of those other fillers) They are also a tad bit moist which is great because my dog doesn't like dry treats. There are plenty in each bag and I feel that they last a good amount of time to justify the price. For training, I usually tear them in half (they are soft enough to do that) and they last even longer that way. Would recommend!

My German Shepherd loves to gnaw the ends of bones and sticks. And he loves to use his front teeth to shred ropes and soft toys. I thought I had found a soft toy that he could toss and flip around inside the house, and would hold up better than a plush or rope toy. Alas, I was wrong. He quickly shredded the ropes that were woven through the rubber pieces, and left the rubber laying there once it came apart. It LOOKS stronger than regular rope toys, but it is only as strong as its weakest link.

My 90 lb. Golden Retriever liked this rope, but not as much as his other ropes. Maybe it was the black things in the middle that turned him off. In any case, the rope is not as durable as it looks (with the black rubber). It was destroyed within a week.
