My rescue hound/lab mix has been a puller from day one.

I've tried everything from gentle leader to canny collars, choke and prong collars in conjubction with training throughout.

I came across this harness in the book, When Pigs Fly, and decided to give it a try.

My dog is now 1 1/2 and while less interested in pulling and jumping on folks...she is still very excitable and it is still a concern.

The leash clasps to the front ring of the harness on the chest of the dog. As the dog begins to pull, she is turned toward the handler.

The harness has give and does not hobble the dog.

There is no learning/tolerance curve for your dog or you.

It's easy to put on and take off and low and behold it works as well as the longest running technique I've used----the ugly prong collar.

To put it mildly, I am thrilled to move my dog to a more comfortable and still effective control technique while we continue to work on her tendency to pull and jump.........

I would highly recommend you give this harness a try if you have a dog with a similar history.....even if you, like I, have developed a pricey collection of harness and collars.

The SENSEation harness replaced a chewed and repaired SENSEible harness. SENSEation supposed to be upgrade and more comfortable. Either harness are easier to adjust and fit much better than the Premier Easy Walk harness. Our other dog has the Premier and it never adjusts as easy or fits as well as the SENSEation.

My Border Collie mutt has been a leash-puller from the beginning. We have a collection of harnesses (they never fit -who knew I had an unusually shaped dog?) and Halti-type face collars (she passionately hated those and quickly figured out how to escape from them in mid-walk). This harness has been a revelation. The dog *immediately* stopped pulling on the leash and now walks eagerly but quietly next to me. She can tug gently on it, but not hard enough to pull the leash out of my daughter's hand. The multiple adjusters made the harness easy to fit properly, and the dog appears to find it comfortable.

With a small or short-legged dog, this harness will put the leash connection very low to the ground. You'll need to learn to hold the leash a little differently so it doesn't drag on the ground or trip the dog. It might be easier if there was a loop on the back to feed the leash through on short dogs -I may try adding one to mine and see if it helps with the leash dragging (but does not undo the anti-pulling effect of the front connection). A slightly longer leash is useful too.

This harness is so easy on my little 6-pound terrier mix. Use the measurement guide as a reference. My dog was right in between the sizes and I followed the directions for sizing (choosing the next size up) and got a perfect fit! My little dog doesn't mind sticking her head through the opening and having me connect the harness, which connects and snaps together with ease under her chest. When we walk I can steer her by pulling to either side of the harness, almost like a horse, and she naturally has to veer toward the way I'm pulling. She also is the stubborn dog that just decides to sit down or "put the brakes on" while walking (you guys who have this dog know what I mean!). With this harness, I just give a very slight and careful tug and she automatically has to start moving her legs because the harness sits right behind her shoulder blades. No more choking my dog or dragging my little puppy behind me, which is unsafe and just plain embarrassing. I wrap the leash around my hand a few times and can keep my dog right by my side without much effort. The construction is high quality and my dog doesn't mind wearing the soft nylon against her skin. The company even has an awesome program where you can send the harness back in and get it fixed should your dog chew on the harness or it need repair (at minimal cost). This harness is ingenious, safe, and perfect for those of us whose dogs won't or can't wear traditional harness's! The harness makes me and my dog feel more comfortable on walks. Well worth the money I spent.

This harness was great at first...my dog walks nicely by my side with it, her pulling and sniffing is minimized, and it's easier on my arm and her neck than the traditional leash-and-collar. However, after a few weeks of use, the hair has chafed away under her right "armpit" (although not the left). I specifically purchased this brand of harness because this is a common complaint with other brands, like easy-walk, for short-haired dogs, and Sense-ation was purported to solve this problem. I believe that I followed fitting instructions to a tee, so I'm disappointed that we still had this problem.

UPDATE: After loosening the armpit straps slightly, we had no more problems with chafing. HOWEVER. Part of the plastic fastener has already broken off. It's still functional (the middle prong broke slightly), but it would have been nice if that didn't happen. I would recommend this overall and would purchase again.

I had purchased the Rascal Dog smaller box design for my little Yorkie and I love how easy the box is to clean. I purchased the bigger size (Big Squirt) for my mom. She has three dogs, a toy poodle, a Maltese, and a Yorkie so I bought her the bigger size litter box since three dogs would be using it. My mom was spending a fortune in wee wee pads for her dogs so I surprised my mom and bought the big box for her. My mom loves how easy it is to clean and she is thrilled to be saving money by not buying pads any more. She placed the box in the same place that she use to place the wee wee pads and her dogs starting using the litter box with very little training in two days. Great product! I purchased the large size box because I have two doxies. They began using it within two days all on their own. It was great! However, I have found that this litter box is truly high-maintenance. I clean it just about every other day. It is very awkward to clean and for this past week, the dogs stopped using it. I think it's because they don't like the smell. I have been using antibacterial dish soap and that was OK until this week. I tried the scent spray that came with it to put a familiar odor back for them, but still they do their jobs on the carpet. My carpet is a mess because of the pee and poo outside of it. And my room stinks, something it never did with the potty pads (puppy training pads). I have tried leaving the grass carpet out of it but, they refuse to stand on the grid. We're going to keep trying to turn them around. It's a good product and an alternative to going out on cold snowy days, but it's not working too well for us right now. Cleaning it is still the big issue.

I had looked all over for a canine litter box for my Chinese crested and found this to be the perfect match. It is expensive, but it is well made and versatile. It can be used in many different ways depending on what you want to provide. For example I use puppy pads, but it comes with machine washable fake grass and a grate which would keep urine in the bottom of the box. I'm very happy with it and so is my dog! I ordered this product straight from the manufacturer over a year ago (when it was TWICE the price), and although it is a well-made product, it just didn't work for us at all. As others have mentioned, although my pup started using it right away, he subsequently stopped (after about a week) because the thing began to STINK. The grass was almost impossible to clean. When I would wash it (which was DAILY), the grass kept falling out all over the tub, and then it would take FOREVER to dry, so it would still be somewhat damp (and still stinky) when I put it pack in the holder. I eventually took the grass out and tried putting just the pad in there, but my dog had been so turned off at that point, he just refused to go back in. Believe it or not, just using the wee wee pad, flat on the floor, has been most effective for us. He is 100% good about only peeing on the pad, but he does sometimes have overspill. Which is why I had bought this thing in the first place, but Oh, well.

Einstein ET-400TS E-Collar 3/4 Mile Remote Dog Trainer

I have been using the ET-400TS for over a week. First, I need to comment on an amazingly fast and smooth delivery by Amazon (via DHL) to China the product was at my door within the same week which I have never had happen before.

First impressions of the unit are very positive, especially when compared to a budget remote training collar I originally purchased and promptly returned. The receiver is a nice and compact size and fits well on my Beagle it feels rock solid in terms of build quality and even after being vigorously put through its paces by my Beagle in a forest and scratching at it once in a while, there is not a scratch or dent to be seen.

The LED lighting on the receiver, which is activated remotely, is very effective and ensures my Beagle is always clearly visible at night whether I am walking with her in the city or in woodland. Very few competing products offer this and it is a useful addition.

The transmitter is a very refreshing design which happens to be highly functional and comfortable too. The flexibility of the momentary, continuous or mixed modes including a user-defined boost, is very useful and was one of the deciding factors in me buying the Einstein. The only niggle would be that I would prefer it in a more subtle color (such as the black ET-800TS), but bright yellow makes it difficult to lose if dropped (although there is already a lost transmitter function).

Note that this unit has a vibration function while the similarly-priced ET-500 has a tone function I was a little torn in deciding between the two, but the ET-400 has a smaller receiver which made me go for this one. My Beagle is stubborn and doesn't respond that much to the vibration, despite it being quite strong although after more use and conditioning, I am using it as a subtle way to get her attention and this appears to be working, lessing the need for any stimulation. A tone may prove similarly ineffective for some dogs/breeds. Ideally, the unit would have tone AND vibration options in addition to the stimulation, making the choice a little easier, although this is just a niggle.

In terms of stimulation levels, I have been using level 10-20 (out of 100) with my Beagle and this seems to be more than enough, with the use of a boost very rarely when her prey drive kicks in and goes "all nose". However, after just a week, I am using it on about a level 10 and very infrequently.

My primary challenge was fitting since my beagle has very loose skin around her neck if the receiver is not attached correctly (ie; snugly), the stimulation may not also be delivered properly. Since both overtightening and undertightening are a concern, my advice is to take your time (and some research via instructions and internet) in fitting it correctly. Once you have the correct fitting, I suggest you mark the collar so it can be consistently re-attached with the same tightness.

Since using the unit, my Beagle's off-leash behaviour has changed significantly (she would previously play very frustrating "catch me" games when off leash) and I am now primarily using the vibration function and issuing a command to get her attention. I did not use the "escape conditioning" technique but primarily used the collar to correct misbehaviour (running away, eating discarded food, etc.).

In addition to my positive experience with the product, I also received very good support and feedback after sending E-Collars an email with a few questions.

I can therefore highly recommend the product and the company behind it, who really do appear to be committed to customer satisfaction.

Purchased this collar to train my 9 month old Alaskan Klee Kai puppy to walk without a leash. She is still in the process of learning how to heel, however she now walks close to me and looks back frequently to check that I am still there walking nearby.

PROS:

My dog feels the stimulation at setting level 8. It causes her to shake her head and respond right away. I used the +30 emergency button once when she tried to chase a cat which caused her to let out a loud yelp (felt so bad doing it!). I think +30 is way too much of a boost for my puppy but I can see it coming in handy for real emergencies (running into traffic, etc.).

The light built into the collar is the BEST feature. I have it set on the blinking mode and it allows my dog to be visible at night from a distance. When walking my dog by a street, I leave it on the constant on mode so that people driving will be able to take notice easily as well. The white LED in the receiver is actually pretty bright as well which is a big plus.

The vibration mode confuses my dog at the moment. She doesn't know how to respond to it. I haven't been able to use the collar on her much, but I'm fairly certain that she'll learn that it's a warning eventually. Would've been nice to have an audible tone feature to use as a reward tone to compliment my use of the vibration feature as a warning sign.

I love the way the two components charge. Very straightforward. Pull out the rubber plugs and stick the power cables in to charge them. To turn the device on, you just align two red dots until you see the receiver blinking green. I see this as a positive feature as I'm assuming* this method is used to pair/sync the collar and remote to each other. I'm sure you don't want other people's remotes setting off your dogs collar!

CONS:

There are only a few things that I'm not satisfied about the product. I noticed that the stimulation buttons were not stimulating the dog on quite a few occasions using the smaller contact prongs. I switched them over to the longer prongs and the issue still persisted. The success rate is about 60%, meaning only 6 button presses worked out of 10. I didn't take a star off the review because my double coated puppy does have a lot of fur causing difficulty for the prongs to make skin contact. I cant tighten the collar any further as it causes my puppy too much discomfort (long prongs pushing into her throat). Would be great if there was someway to get the receiver to stay in place on the back of my dog's neck but it will always find itself back under her throat.

The strap that came with the unit is very heavy duty and has a lot of extra slack to make it usable on even very big dogs however it's not very friendly, in my opinion, for smaller dogs. It's a very stiff, rubbery feeling strap. An adjustable nylon collar would work much better for smaller dogs. However, the stiff and rugged strap is ideal and I can see it working perfectly for medium/large size dogs.

I'm a bit worried about the battery life due to the other review here. I will be taking my dog hiking this Sunday at and will get to see whether or not the collar will last me the entire day or not. Will revise the review if I find it to be an issue. Not too worried since Amazon has one of the best return policies to boot.

CONCLUSION:

Overall, I feel that this product is very well built and thought out. The design of the transmitter feels very ergonomic despite it being a perfect circle. Feels like I'm holding a children's walkie talkie device with the buttons placed in the right places (thumb on vibrate, middle on stimulate, ring finger on +30 boost). The receiver is also a good size for my small dog (8.5" neck, 7lbs.) although I have seen smaller receivers on the market. I almost went with a much cheaper electronic collar but I decided to spend more money on one with the right set of features, warranty, reviews, and reputation. Compared to Dogtra and Tri-tronics, I feel that the Einstein products are much better designed, priced better, and just as reliable. I have no qualms about recommending this product to my friends and family.

The battery life is exceptionally poor on this unit. If we put it on our dog in the AM, work, then to kennel for a few hours, then back to work the collar will be dead before our day is done.

We charged it for 18 hours to start.

Another complaint is to shut it off you have to line up the red dots. You have to have them really close to shut off and it is difficult to do if your dog is still in the training phase and not exactly cooperative.

The strength of the unit was not great for our dog but she does have a winter coat on. The longer points may make it much more effective.

I also do not think the collar is for all sizes of dogs. Although we can get the collar small enough it means there is about 8" of collar flapping around which is a distraction. We did not want to cut it off in case we wanted to use it on a larger dog later.

I would not recommend this collar at all.

I bought this close to 4 years ago at B.B&B when my dog was abt a year. I had fully trained her, but was really feeling guilty that she would hold her pee for 10 hrs while at work.

For a week, she rubbed herself on it , thinking its a toy. Finally got it, I would just place her on it, say "pee, pee", as that's the command I've always used while training her. She is a pro now.lol

DOGTEK NoBark Pulse Bark Control Collar

I have two shih poos that are sisters. One has a yappy bark and barks at every noise. I bought this collar for her and it is working great. All I have to do now is pick it up or threaten her with it and she will be quiet. I like that it does not shock her like the collars she has had before and love the rechargable battery. The others worked really well but the batteries were always dying and it is hard to find replacements. This one comes with a charger

I have a 4 pounds maltese Pomeranian mix, and she barks when we are not home... or more like shrieks.

I did the test to see if the collar works and it beeped and lit up the bulb, but when i put it on my little dog, it does not correct when she barks. I even shaved the throat area so that the prongs touch her skin, but still no luck. Maybe her barking is too high pitched? Either way, I am pretty disappointed, and am still looking for something that will work. I borrowed a spray collar from a friend and I I think the spray citronella collar works a little better, but I am having difficulty finding something for a small dog under 5lbs, as the spray box is bulky.

Bottom line, if you have a small dog under 5 pounds or so, this may not be the collar to use. The mechanism is quite bulky and it may not be capable of recognizing sounds from a small dog??

This collars works great, I have 3 dogs and I talk from experience. I will not recommend it to smaller dogs but definitly for a medium or large size dog. It is very efective. Dogs stopped barking after few minutes of using it.

I ordered a comfort adapter after a few days of using the dogtra IQ e-collar on my 14 lb rat terrier/chihuahua mix and seeing how much the regular prongs poked into her neck when the collar is tight enough not to move around. The collar works just as well with the comfort adapter on and she seems much more comfortable wearing it. So far I have been very pleased with this adapter & the e-collar.

I was worried that this might lesson the "correction: and that I would have to turn up the strength, but that wasn't the case. This seems to be a comfortable fit on my dog, way better that 2 prongs poking him.

I reluctantly bought my 15# terrier a bark collar after we were kicked out of one apartment, allowed to move to a different location in the same complex, and told that if there were any complaints we would have to move out entirely. He doesn't bark that much, but there is nothing to drown out the noise between neighbors. Anyway, I bought the Dogtra 300 and the prongs were huge for such a small dog. I bought the comfort adaptor and feel much better about putting the collar on. A lot of reviews talk about dogs getting sores where the collar lies. I think this adaptor will prevent anything like it. BTW, I tested the collar on myself and there is no way the static stimulation could cause these sores. If your dog yelps, try it on yourself and you will see it just doesn't like being corrected at all. It doesn't hurt at all for the levels I have used on my dog (up to 3).

This product is an excellent addition to the Dogtra IQ. My company utilizes the IQ on a regular basis training professional working dogs and doing human/dog aggressive rehabilitation. The spray doesn't work well on hands or clothing at our house. Also, several friends have reported that their older dogs actually appear to like the taste, so it obviously doesn't work for every dog. I suspect it works best for stopping a puppy chewing habit from forming rather than breaking a well-established habit, but it's inexpensive enough to seem worth trying even in those situations.

This product works really great and doesn't seem to stain or anything. Our Cockapoo puppy is in her chewing phase and we were having all kinds of problems with her chewing things. So we bought this and it works well. She sometimes even makes this cute little whine when we spray things complaining that we're taking her fun away.

I've found that for things like leashes and shoes that rub against other things all day this wears off quickly and you need to spray them every 2-4 days, but for things like cords, cables and the bottoms of chairs I haven't had to respray as the only thing rubbing against them and wearing off the spray is the puppy who's no longer doing so.

Been watching this product for the longest time, but just managed to stop by my local Petsmart and pick it up. I wish I had gotten it MONTHS ago! I've got a 10 month old Pomeranian who loved to chew on everything. Shoes, walls, furniture, cords, doorstops, you name it. I sprayed this on everything he's ever chewed and just like that, he stopped chewing. One inquisitive lick, after I had already sprayed, was all it took.
