Pet Agree Ultrasonic Training Aid
I think the reason people reviewing this product are saying it doesn't always work, or wears off after a time, is due to the fact that ultrasonic devices ALONE won't solve your problems! (1) You must first determine why the dog is doing what it's doing, and often that will be something in the environment/lifestyle that you need to change; (2) the purpose of the ultrasonic device is merely to INTERRUPT the behavior long enough for you to reward the brief stopping of the behavior and then insert a more appropriate behavior into the "void" you created by using the ultrasound (counterconditioning). To just point the device at your dog and press a button (as if it were some sort of "magic wand") might work sometimes, but it won't get to the root of the problem, and after a while most dogs will start igorning the sound and go on doing whatever they were doing. This is the "lazy way" to try to solve a dog's behavior issues and will not have long-lasting effects. Without positive reinforcement added to the process, it becomes a very negative, vicious cycle.
If you want to be successful using this kind of product, consult a good positive dog-training book, or call a professional to help you.
UPDATE APRIL 2012: I would like to add a few more thoughts to my original review: I was referring specifically to training one's own dog, as it is probably impossible to train a neighbor's annoying dog w/o the neighbor's cooperation! There are sonic devices available that you can post permanently in your yard, but unfortunately, these might not always work, either.
Using this Pet-Agree device would not permanently solve the "neighbor's barking dog" problem in most cases. It might stop the dog for a few seconds, but then they would resume barking at whatever was triggering them (which is sometimes just plain old boredom).
I agree that one has to speak to the neighbor, if at all possible, and find out what your town's barking ordinance is (it differs from place to place), and notify the authorities if the dog is exceeding the accepted limits. However, I do sympathize with Paul, who has had no luck going the conventional route. Unfortunately, this does happen much of the time, and we have limited control over someone else's pets (or children, for that matter)! :-)
As far as how to combine positive reinforcement with a "startle device" such as the Pet-Agree: It would be helpful to use clicker training if one is knowledgable about the concept and coordinated enough to manage it (a good book, video, or trainer could help you).
But even w/o a clicker, I would proceed this way: Use the Pet-Agree to interrupt the barking (if it works on your dog). Coupling the word "Quiet" with the startle device, as suggested by another poster, is valid. As soon as you get a couple of seconds of silence, click/praise and give your dog a tasty treat. Call the dog over to you to get the treat and then redirect his attention AWAY from what was triggering him to bark in the first place. If he tries to go back and bark some more, repeat the above process. Redirecting his attention is key.
Contrary to a lot of dog owners' beliefs, a dog does NOT have to sit by the window and bark at everything all day long! This is barrier frustration and it will get worse. Give your dog interactive, puzzle toys and safe "chewies" to keep him occupied AWAY from the windows while you're not at home. Block his access to troublesome windows in any way you can, if at all possible.
Most of all, make sure he gets enough EXERCISE!!! Behavior problems are caused or exacerbated by insufficient exercise. Do obedience training with him, on your own or with a trainer, and practice it every day. This will give him a job to do. Much barking is caused by boredom, unexpended energy, and frustration. After all, when a dog is bored, he has limited options. He can't watch TV, surf the net, talk on his smartphone, or read a book. It's either barking, chewing, or digging...none of which are usually acceptable to humans!
As for the "smarty" dogs who manipulate you to get the treat, if you suspect this is happening after a while, just praise the dog for a good response but do NOT click or treat unless you feel it is a genuine situation, not merely a ploy to get a treat.
Hope this is not too rambling and involved. As you can see, if you have real problems, you might need the help of a professional. But good luck to all of you out there with barking dogs! (BTW, the Pet-Agree can be used to interrupt other behaviors, such as jumping up).
Buy Pet Agree Ultrasonic Training Aid Now
I was skeptical whether this product would work given the price and give than my dog is a beast. You don't even have to point this at the animal and it works. I have a very aggressive and hyper german shepherd and this brings her right to attention. I wish I would have purchased this a long time ago before purchasing a shock collar. After opening the box, I realized that this is the same training aid my professional dog trainer uses. I just moved into my first place and the only negative is my neighbour's two very large, very aggressive, very bark-y dogs. They look like Rott/Pitbull mixes. They don't allow me or anyone else to get near the fence on my side and bark incessantly when anyone comes into my driveway. I went as far as to install an extra layer of chainlink on my side and still they get frenzied and hurl themselves up on to the fence causing it to lean. My new neighbour sits calmly on her porch and watches her demon dogs get completely out of control and does absolutely nothing about them. So I had to take matters into my own hands. I did lots of online research and finally settled on the Pet-Agree.I couldn't wait to try it out on the hell hounds! So I waited till I had a visitor. As soon as the car drove in,the dogs raced to my fence and started barking loudly. I gave the device one sustained press and immediately they whined a little and then stopped completely. I was amazed. I did not have to press it twice. They turned right around and retreated to their porch..quietly.I have now tried it three times with the same astounding result. I love it! Honestly I didn't have high hopes for this product , but for twenty something bucks I was willing to give it a try. I have two small dogs one is a miniature pincher and chihuahua mix and the other is a mix of five different dogs including doberman, chihuahua, and some kind of terrier. Anyway they make a sport of sitting in the window and barking like mad whenever someone walks or drives by. When someone comes to the door they suit up for war and are ready to bark till the death! Once they start barking their brains go blank and it's nearly impossible to break their focus and get them to stop. My husband and I have been tolerating the barking for 3 years now, but I felt it was time to try something new. I did not want to resort to bark control collars so I gave this product a try. All I can say is WOW so far I am thoroughly impressed! Their barking has decreased about 90% , ( I still want them to bark sometimes for security). That being said I feel this is a training aid not a magic button. What I did that I feel was extremely important was to hide the device in my pocket. I did not want my dogs to see the device and associate not barking only when I was holding a blue thing in my hand. When they began to bark I quickly hit the button while giving a firm verbal command " QUIET" at the same time I gave a hand signal of a closed fist. When my dogs stopped barking I praised them in a high pitched voice and gave them a couple treats. After only a few times I no longer needed to use the device at all. All I need to do is say quiet or give them the hand signal. Needless to say I am very pleased with this product.

I love this wire dog muzzle to train an unruly large dog who is hard to control. This product keeps all living creatures free from harm, to make training the animal much easier. The dog figures out how to drink and play with it on. I will not trade this muzzle, or the wonderful rescue dog, it helped to create, for anything.Read Best Reviews of Dean and Tyler Wire Basket Muzzle, Size No. R1 - Small Rottweiler Here

Lixit Original Dog Faucet Waterer
The only problems I've ever seen with the Lixit are that it does sometimes leak a little (but since it is for outside use, this isn't a big deal), and that if it is attached to a faucet that is in the sun, the metal parts can get pretty hot. Other than that, it just works.I've had several of these over the years. They work great but eventually they wear out. Make sure to check them cause if they aren't working it could be a real bad situation for your dog. I find that after a few years they start to leak and also hard water deposits will clog them.
Buy Lixit Original Dog Faucet Waterer Now
A great product for the convenience of not having to refill water bowls for pets and providing fresh water. However, unless the lixit is at an almost perfectly vertical (right) angle to the ground, it will not completely shut off, but continue to drip or dribble with a heavier flow the farther it is from vertical.Read Best Reviews of Lixit Original Dog Faucet Waterer Here
First Impression: At first I didn't know what Dad wanted me to do with the Lixit Dog Waterer. But after Dad showed me a couple times, I caught on very quickly. The instructions say you can put peanut butter on the lever, but Dad just pushed it with his finger. Also, he showed me that I can press my nose on the Lixit to make water come out. Fascinating! Conclusion: Dad says it's well worth the money! He never has to worry about a water bowl outside. When I play outside and get thirsty, I use the Dog Waterer. I lick it and it gives me fresh water. It hasn't leaked so far. I now think that Mom's bath faucet will turn on if I lick it for long enough. The Dog Waterer was very inexpensive and is recommended for all outdoor dogs, or even dogs that just go outside when they have to (like me).

I ordered two auto dog waterers. I was unable to get either one to install without leaking continuously. I finally took out the hard plastic washers and installed good rubber washers to prevent them from leaking when not being activated.Lixit needs to improve their quality control.

SportDOG YardTrainer 105 Dog Trainer, SD-105
My dog was quite well behaved but at one year old, I still struggled with "come" and "stay" and he also didn't walk consistently well and when excited would constantly pull on the leash. THIS PRODUCT HAS TURNED HIM INTO THE PERFECT DOG!!!
At first, he wore it all day and I used it for every command. I followed the directions carefully and combined my command with the tone and then correction when he did not listen. He now only wears it when we walk or are just hanging out in the front yard (non fenced). He listens to me with out the collar on 98% of the time (still a puppy) and when wearing the collar he rarely needs corrections. I walk him with this instead of a leash and we can walk by other crazy, pulling, barking, snarling, yapping dogs and he stays right at my heal and looks at them like they are crazy.
And I have owned this product for 3 months and have not had to change or replace the batteries and have yet to find a range/distance it did not work. Sometimes I can't see where my dog is and I call him and give the tone and he appears immediately.
THIS PRODUCT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY I PAID. Highly recommend this brand.

I just got it and I'm fairly happy so far. It's small and lightweight as advertised and the quality seems good. Loading batteries into the receiver can be tricky so be careful. The transmitter and receiver each take two batteries. I don't know yet how long they will last. The snap collar makes fastening easy. My biggest disappointment was that the collar would not fit my Cocker Spaniel. If your dog's neck size is smaller than 15", look for a different collar. The stimulation levels seem good I tested levels 1-4 on my underarm. Level one was barely noticeable, level four approaches discomfort and will probably be the highest I will need. Features that this model doesn't have but you may want to look for include rechargable batteries, waterproof transmitter, momentary stimulation and remote turn-off.Read Best Reviews of SportDOG YardTrainer 105 Dog Trainer, SD-105 Here
I ordered the yard trainer for my LAB. We go to the park Monday thru Saturday mornings and walk with other dog walkers and their dogs. Our dogs are allowed to run free, and they love it. My dog was the only one who kept her nose on the ground and ate everything from paper to poop. The trainer has helped a great deal, but we're not "there" yet. Only one problem so far. When it is cold (below 20 degrees or so), it freezes up and won't stay "on" or won't even turn on. Come warm weather, I hope to see more improvement both in her disgusting eating habit as well as her obedience.Want SportDOG YardTrainer 105 Dog Trainer, SD-105 Discount?
I was hesitant to use an E-collar but my 7 month old GSD puppy was just getting a bit out of hand with the chewing and jumping and barking and everything else. She is a good puppy most of the time but when she wants something, she'll pretty much knock down the glass door and she won't stop no matter what we do. Knowing that giving in would just empower her and reinforce the behavior, I got this collar after researching all the alternatives.I tested it on myself and determined that level 2 gives a slight numbing pulse while 4 gives a little snap like a higher powered static charge when you get out of your car and touch the car door on a cold day. I read the manual which is pretty good and straight forward and started working with the dog. The dog is already pretty good with "sit" and "down" and sometimes "come" but not "heel". I also couldn't take the dog out without a leash and it was always a battle with the tugging and pulling. One time it broke off a smaller collar and I had to buy a big thick double heavy duty nylon collar to hold her.
The behavior changed within 1 day of using this collar. The dog comes immediately when I call and I just have to beep and she'll run over and sit next to me. I don't need to shock her anymore after just 1 day as long as she sees me. I still have to shock her though if she doesn't see me and she will still jump all over the wife and kid so I have to monitor her.
First time walking her without a leash, she ran off to the neighbor's house as she always does, I beeped, she didn't respond, I turned on the shock, she ran back so fast at a full gallop that when she couldn't stop in time next to me, she hit my legs and almost knocked me over. The second time, she ventured out a few feet but didn't dare go past me. We took a walk around the neighborhood without a leash and she was always by my side. Truly amazing.
Like the heading says, it's only been 3 weeks and I have to constantly monitor her with the collar and once in a while I have to beep it to remind her to behave but I don't have to use the shock unless she is getting very unruly with the wife, then I have to use the shock to remind her to behave. Batteries are still good, but I always turn it off when not in use.
Even though this is a great tool, it is no substitute for taking the time to work with the dog. This will speed things up and supplement a good training regimen, but it is not a substitute.

Antler Dog Chew From Pet Expertis
Buy Antler Dog Chew From Pet Expertis Now
My year old dog loved the antler chew I purchased in Denver while on vacation. I ordered this chew after he demolished the other one. I purchased a large size because he seemed to chew up the medium one quite quickly. The chew arrived well packaged and before the anticipated delivery date. It is 9" long measured end to end. Since it is curved--probably more like 9 1/2". The ends were filed down and there are no sharp edges. I will definitely purchase additional products from Pet Expertise through Amazon. After giving up on the smelly mess called "bully sticks," I began hunting around for some antler dog chews. I bought a couple in pet shops that ended up being too crumbly, coming apart quite easily with stinky marrow inside. Although discouraged, I had heard such good things about antlers that I continued looking. These are perfect! They are very hard, but not so hard that they could damage your dog's teeth. Tobias, a french bulldog, is quite a strong chewer, and he's only taken off about an inch in the past month or so. There is much less mess, and it is completely odorless. Of course, there is still a little bit of mess, but you have to expect that when your dog is chewing a bone. Mostly Tobias chews it on his dog bed, but when he is allowed to chew the antler on the couch it is very easy to clean off the antler drool he leaves behind.I ordered the XL antler for my boxer dogs based on the size antlers that I had seen in my local stores. I probably could have gotten away with ordering a large from this company...the XL is a huge elk antler. Nevertheless, my dogs LOVE this antler. They chew on it daily. They have another antler from a local store that they like but this one is their favorite. I like these antlers because they last forever and they make no mess and have no smell. I really feel like I got my money's worth with this purchase and I would not hesitate to order another antler from this vendor when I need one.Friday, December 20, 2013
Punk Hollow Leather Dog Leash ~ Double Braided ~ 6 Ft. X 3/4 In. ~ Brown/Brass (Lifetime Guarantee)
About two weeks later, I went to a couple of different pet supply stores looking for a similar leash. Although they were less expense (by about $7.00), I found that the leather appeared significantly thinner than pictured on Amazon, and the stitching was questionable at best. So, I went back to Amazon and ordered Punk Hollow's leash (6' long, 3/4" wide). After I received it several days before the projected delivery date, I found that the online pictures didn't do it justice.
The leash I received is a handsome brown color, and made of substantially thick bridle-like leather. The double-braided leather at the ends is woven tightly together, and the handle fits nicely just above my wrist. It also has a solid brass swivel fastener to clip on the collar (thus, completely eliminating the possibility of inadvertently unclipping it!). Lastly, the brass studs holding the fastener and handle together are more than sufficient and superior to stitching, in my opinion, which gives me the confidence that I can restrain my dog if he lunges at a squirrel, or a cat, or a...
If I had to put this leash on any medium or large breed dog, I wouldn't have to worry about it being strong enough to hold them under any circumstances.
In sum, I cannot be more satisfied with my purchase. And if I ever have to replace this leash, I just hope Punk Hollow is still in business 20 years from now! It's that good.I recently purchased the double braided leather dog leash from punk hollow country kennels as well as one from Dean and Tyler at the same time. I had never purchased any items from either company. Both are leather leashes and 6 ft. long. Both are nice, however comparing the two,I feel that punk hollow's leash is a better quality. The braiding is stronger and the brass clip sturdier. I'll definitly purchase further leashes from this company.I was worried a leather leash would be $50-$60. This one was very reasonable and is of excellent quality! In a word, beautiful! Great quality, well made leather lead. I've got a 90lb. German Shepherd puppy who is strong. This leash is a great training lead and stylish to boot. I highly recommend this product. I'll be buying from Punk Hollow again.I purchased one of these leashes about 25 years ago when I had an Airedale Terrier. At that time, there was NO rivet used at all, which caused the leather end to curl up a little bit. I think the rivet is for asthetics. I used the leash on that dog for 14 years, and then I used it on my next dog; a Kerry Blue Terrier. She's 10 now and the leash is shows no wear at all, but is so nice and soft from the years of use. I can't imagine that I'll ever need to buy another leash, no matter how many dogs I own in the future.

Dean & Tyler DT Universal No Pull Dog Harness with Velcro Patches, Fits Girth Size 21-Inch-26-Inch,
I ordered this harness knowing that I wanted one but that it would likely be too big for our Toy Schnauzer, so I altered it to fit him.
Please, Dean & Tyler, make one for small toy dogs like our 9-lb. Toy Schnauzer and I will instantly order one. It would also be great if these were also available in a dark brown color instread of just black. Actually there are a lot of small dogs in the world, and getting to be more and more, contrary to the beliefs of many dog accessory and toy manufacturers!
Love this harness as it works great for our little service (hearing) dog!

Dogtra 2 Dog Advance Training Collar
Update 11/22/10 I have owned the collars for 1 year now and I stand by my original review. I continue to use the collars every day, but would say the highest level I have had to use over the last 6 months is 25, but mostly I use the vibration option as that is all that is really needed to get their attention. It is a great feeling not having to constantly worry about what the dogs are going to do when we go outside. I have noticed that there is a slight decrease in the battery life of the collar, but considering the level of use I am not terribly surprised and do not think it warrants a drop in my original rating at this time. If the time comes that I have to get the battery replaced, I will be sure to update this review again.
Update 6/29/11 I have owned the collars for over a year and a half now and I recently purchased a replacement battery for one of the collars. I purchased the battery directly from Dogtra as Amazon did not offer the battery. It did not set me back too much and now works the same as it did on day 1. I still love these collars and recommend them to any responsible dog owner. This is the second Dogtra collar I've owned. And I love it! The only reason I bought a new one is because I have two dogs now and decided to upgrade to the two-dog system. Dogtra makes the best collars, they are incredibly easy to use, very reliable, and last forever. And Dogtra has made some really great improvements over the last collar I purchased. It's much easier to activate the collars now. The only caution I give is to make sure you realize the buttons on the front are PAGERS not shock buttons. I found out the hard way when my dog ran away from me and got into the neighbors goat pen. I couldn't figure out why he wasn't even fazed by my shocking him at the highest level. well, needless to say I was "paging" him instead of shocking him. Go figure...he didn't answer my page when there were goats to smell! And thankfully I can get my dogs attention when the collars are only set to level 35 (not 125!). Anyway, I highly recommend these great collars.
Buy Dogtra 2 Dog Advance Training Collar Now
Purchased the dual collars for my dogs. One is very sensitive (Lab Terrier Mix, tall/lean at 40lbs) who only needs the collar set to vibrate, a sting no higher than 5. The other is a bully breed (about 60lbs) who we use the collars for schutzhund training. He has a very high pain threshold in drive and needs a reliable collar and the dogtra advanced does the trick, we still have room left to sting where as on many other collars he had no issues maxing it out. He is a tough and determined guy.The collar isn't overly heavy, easy for the dog to wear and the remote is sleek and easy to use (once you read the manual). I bought the dual collars for camping and hikes with my two and it's great so far but had not had the chance to use it yet for long periods of time. Comes in a nice case too! The only thing I wish it had was something to tighten the strap when I am wearing it around my wrist, but I can find something to solve that.
**please make sure you are trained in the use of electronic collars before use, or they will be useless to you and damaging to the dog**

My daughter has two dogs and asked for the Dogtra set as a Christmas gift for her and her fiancé. Now she can let the dogs out and they will listen to her commands with just the vibration setting. The difference in obedience is amazing and the stress of owning two rambunctious dogs has been reduced considerably. My daughters' fiancé is a professional dog trainer and asked specifically for this set and I can now see why he did. The quality of construction of the collars and transmitter is excellent and the batteries seems to last all day or longer. Perfect for multiple pet owners that need to exert more control.Want Dogtra 2 Dog Advance Training Collar Discount?
We have 2 English Springer Spaniels who like to dash across the road sometimes to check out the dog on the other side.I am not having it because they risk getting hit by a car.
We have tried a few of the other training collars and they are quite inferior compared to the quality of the Dogtra training collar.
When we opened the package, we discovered that the collars, receivers, transmitter and cords were nicely packed into a special storage case.
The design of the collar and receiver is so professional, not at all cheap-looking.
Definitely a highly quality-made product.
I love that the Dogtra has well over a 100+ levels of "behavior correction" because some dogs truly are immune to the lower levels of correction.
The tone feature works well too.
A feature that we really love is that there is no on/off button for the collars. There is a little red spot on the back of the transmitter, you swipe it over or near a red spot on the receiver(s) and the collar flashes green. To turn the collars off, you swipe the transmitter in the same way.
We have had the collars almost a month and they are still fully charged as is the transmitter.
We put the collars on to take them for a walk and then the collars come off until the next walk.
The collars are not a cheaply made collar, they are strong and durable. We did like that they were easy to cut so that we could ensure that not too much excess hangs out when they have their collars on.
The transmitter is easy to carry in one's hand, almost ergonomic-feeling. The buttons are easily within reach when needed.
True, this is a pricey collar but now that we own it and have tested it, we have only positive things to say about it and would highly recommend it.
