I purchased this collar for my 6 month old/60lb Rhodesian Ridegback at the advice of my vet. This dog is extremely intelligent and well trained, yet on a leash she pulls, lunges, and has herself choking (both with a regular collar and a harness). We have a crazy Great Dane puppy we should have gotten this for moooonths ago. We waited until he reached 170 lbs at 11 months old. Good idea right? Anyway, this collar is a MIRACLE! It literally worked on the first walk. I am NOT kidding. He would drag me and my husband everywhere before. Where he wanted to go...we went. Now he is the best walking dog on our block. He never pulls anymore, and if he trys slightly..then a small tug on the collar and he is PERFECT! I do recommend watching the dvd with directions. Those suckers are hard to get on at first. I have these for both my dalmation and my rat terrior who like to pull, putting these leaders on makes an instant change. My dogs don't love them but they are walking 90% better than before. The product does work, you really have to follow the directions for it to be successful. The key thing to successfully remove the smell from the carpet is to really saturate the area you are treating. Keep in mind by the time the pet urine has soaked into the carpet and padding it has most likey spread out an extra couple of inches in the area as well. I've used this product in the past and its the first thing I thought of after recently returning from being out of town and found that a fan near the bathroom door kept the cat from wanting to go in and use the litter box so a spot on my bedroom carpet was the target.

This is what I did and it worked both times I've had to use NM. I don't mess around with the smaller bottle because I want to "over do it" on purpose on the area I'm treating so I buy the gallon jug. Make sure you know exactly where the stain is and pour very slowly 1/2 of the gallon directly from the bottle onto the carpet and out from the spot a good 6 inches or so. (Test an area first for colorfastness...I've never had a problem with it discoloring before. 1st time used it on a light color and this time on a dark rug). This should saturate the area completly. I threw on a pair of flip flops and "mushed" it into the carpet afterward to make sure the solution squished deep into the carpet down thru the padding. Then I carefully stepped out of the flip flops so I didn't track anything smelly on other parts of the carpet.

Warning, this next step will smell!!! After you have poured 1/2 the gallon out onto the carpet, leave it alone (don't wipe it up or try to soak it up and definately don't use the carpet cleaner) and keep your pet away. You will now need to let the area dry gradually on its own. (takes a couple of days for the surface but a week or two for the padding to dry completely. You can use a fan in the room to keep the air circulated but don't blow it directly on the area. As the carpet begins to dry it will smell soooooo much worse than before. It will smell like you let all the neighborhood pets in to pee on that spot:( Believe it or not it is actually working. As the solution dries the enzymes in it actually "eat" the odor. So what you are smelling is the pee smell being drawn out and very slowly dissapating into the air. For example, I used it on a Monday and by Wednesday I thought the smell was going to choke me and burn my eyes. It will smell like you made the situation worse but don't fret, by Friday I had to really sniff to smell it. Its not a quick fix and does take a little time and patience so give it a chance.

Finally, because I like to make sure I get it right the first time, after about the 5 or 6th day (carpet is dry but padding is still wet) I went back and did it again with the last half. Again, let it dry on its own. That should do it unless you have a much larger area and then of course you will need to apply more.

So, satruate, let it dry on its own, hold your nose of a couple of days while it does its thing and you should be good to go. If not, check to make sure the spot you were trying to treat is not actually larger than you originally anticipated.

I am buying for the 2nd time. I bought the first time because my daughters diaper kept leaking and I had to find a way of getting rid of the smell. I found 3 different items which looked good so I bought them all. Natures Miracle, Kids and Pets, and Simple Solution. The Kids and pets smelled so strongly on its own I think it was worse than the urine smell. The Simple solution works, but you need to use a lot and it too has its own odor. This product works great! I soaked the carpeting with it, and let it set for 4 days. Then I used it in my carpet steam cleaner intead of the water, and it got rid of the dog pee stink that had been in the carpeting for awhile! Nothing else I tried even touched the smell! May have to repeat process a couple times if the smell is really bad. Now when cleaning my carpets, I will always use this! Leaves a nice fresh smell too!

I have a Labrador puppy and I use Bitter Apple Spray on items I don't want him to chew. I use it on my shoes, my furnoture and on the tail of my older dog so he can't pull her around. It tastes awful and he won't chew anything that is sprayed! I highly recommend this as a way of training a puppy not to chew up the furniture.

Be advised that some dogs LOVE this stuff and will happily lick it up. My puppy will lick this even while it's still wet--in fact, I think in his case it works as an attractant, not a deterrent. I had no luck with different brands either, such as Bitter Yuck. We were discussing this topic in obedience class and I'd say it did not work for 60-75% of the puppies whose owners tried it. And the people who said it did work complained that they had to re-apply it every day. I think it is still worth trying, but don't get your hopes up that it is some sort of miracle spray.

My Golden Retriever likes to make a snack out of her paws. I have been applying this to her paws once in the morning and once before bed. She hates the stuff and it deters her from licking her paws. I have read that some dogs are not affected by it or actually like it. I have not found this to be true with my dog. My advice is to try it and see. If it works for you great. We were warned when we purchased this item to try it on something we didn't really care about because some dogs are attracted to it. Fortunately my puppy hates it and after her first taste of it she will avoid anything that smells like it when freshly sprayed. Unfortunately this does require that you reapply fairly frequently, especially to your hands, shoes, and anything else that gets used frequently. I have to put this on my hands because the puppy likes to play bite and she is deaf so it's difficult to teach her any other way, since she can't hear a loud "No!" We haven't had to reapply it to the table legs for about a week now, but the chairs need a reapplication. All in all this has been working really well for us and has helped to save our furniture. I would suggest starting off with a small bottle if you haven't tried it before, and if it works then get a bigger bottle.

the collars work very well. I was hesitant because they were so inexpensive, but they do a fantastic job. the batteries in the remote work for a long time, but the batteries in the actual collar those need to be changed often.

I have successfully used this product to walk three dogs ranging in size from 32 to 125 pounds, although it barely stretches around the larger one's neck. I generally only use it with one dog who likes to pretend a walk is a squirrel hunt, especially when he has his pack with him. A couple reminders with the tone usually gets him focusing on his real job, making sure I get a challenging workout without a lot of pulling. I think part of the success of this collar is that it reminds him of the tone of the hated electric fence collar.

The only problem I've had is losing the transmitter. I like to clip it to my belt because I don't have to always actually use it once I show it to my squirrel hunter dog. However, I can't count how many times I've had to retrace my walk to look for the transmitter because it fell off, no matter where I hooked. The last time I lost it, it was on a seven mile walk and although I retraced my path several times of the next week, I couldn't find it. Meanwhile, the walking behavior of the squirrel hunter was degrading quickly from great walking partner to all pull all the time.

I contacted the seller to buy a replacement transmitter and learned they were not available. The seller did offer to send an entire replacement set if I returned the collars. The seller sent me a mailing label and when the seller received my original collars, sent out the replacement set.

I can't imagine a more acceptable resolution to this problem, although I wish they would redesign the transmitter so that it wouldn't fall off when we are walking rapidly.

I have added a tether to the transmitter and tie that to my belt. I recommend this remedy to anybody purchasing the collars. I have no complaints with the electronic aspects of the collars. Keep fresh batteries in them, don't drop them and they work well.

I purchased a much more expensive unit from Petsafe that didn't continue to work as long, although the transmitter never fell off my belt.

I bought this for my corgi. He started chewing the green coating off the bone "handle" on the top so I had to stop using it. It is also difficult to open and close. Would recommend for a dog that doesn't chew, but it wasn't a good fit for my dog.

I bought this to keep my chorkiedoodle to keep her occupied she was afraid of it, so passed it on to a friend's mini-pin who also didn't like it, so we tried the bichon frese who also was not willing to play with it. Maybe needs to be gifted to a much larger dog.

UltraSmart In-Ground Pet Fencing

The use of these fencing systems can be an emotionally charged topic. If you're like me, you've already tried several options to contain your dog and resorted to this for his/her safety. I wanted to write a review and share my experience for those of you who are trying to decide (like I was for months). In short, I do recommend this system.

I have two miniature Dachshunds who weigh 11lbs. and 14lbs. They are young but the elder of the two began to run and the other followed. They were certain to be hit by a car.

I chose the ultrasmart system because it is the smallest collar on the market that is rechargeable. So far, it's been three months and they haven't needed a charge.

Installation; It was easy. The wire only needs to be burried between 1 and 3 inches. I needed to bury about 750 feet of wire. I had an electric edger but discovered the secret after about 75 feet. For $30 I rented a gas powered edger. I ran the edger in one direction to slice the ground and pull the edger back through the same cut cleaning it out. Using a wooden paint stick, I burried the remaning 675 feet in two hours. Also, I used a power drill to twist the wire for those areas where you want the signal to be cancelled so the dogs can run through. Don't get me wrong, this installation is an all day project but the gas edger made the hard part easy.

Training; This product has you install the flags for the dogs to visualize the boundary and you start off with plastic contacts in the collar so they will not get a correction, just an audible tone. The dogs both picked up on the tone and I was able to teach the retreat pattern pretty well. We did this for the recommended amount of time when we changed plastic contacts with the real ones. I put the collar on the sensitive inside of my arm and walked through the boundary so I could feel the correction myself before putting it on the dogs. Startling Yes, Painful No. I would describe it as an electric pulse that you may get during a physical therapy session.

Now for the hard and controversial part. Your dog will get a correction. It will frighten them and no matter how well they know the retreat pattern, it goes out the window. KEEP THE DOG ON THE LEAD so you can control the situation. Both my dogs yiped and jumped, I had to pull them back into the safe zone. This is where I began to question my decision to use this product (but not to worry, in the end this was the best decision since deciding to have the dogs). My dogs where not only aware of the boundary but afraid to even step 3 feet away from the house. What really hurt was I noticed a considerable change in their demeanor. Instead of being playful outside they were cautious. I spent the next week outside playing with them in the safe zone to restore their confidence. It worked.

My system has been installed for three months now. In total, each dog received three corrections each and we went through a short period of timidness. Now, my dogs run free throughout the yard and play. It's awesome. It's exactly what I needed. I do not need the collars on them anymore, they know the boundary. I will use the collars when they will be outside for a long period but I've replaced the metal contacts with the plastic so if they inadvertantly wander they get the audible tone only and they will stay in the yard.

This product has made a huge difference with our family. It has removed a lot of worry, frustration, and stress with our dogs.

Sorry for the long review. I want to get two points across 1) Installation is easy if you spend the $30 and rent a gas edger. 2) The training will tug at your heart strings when they first start getting corrections. Not only when they get corrected, but their demeanor afterwards. But persevere they do get comfortable with the boundaries are soon back to themselves playing, but not running away :)

Wow, this unit really is smart. Or is it my dog that's smart? By following the training process advised by the innotek DVD and written instructions, everything went according to claims. Several of my neighbors installed this and it seemed to work very well for them, so I was convinced this would work for me. Sure enough, 2 weeks later, the dog will not cross the boundary for other dogs or people. Awesome! by the way, she's a 7 month old 50 lb Labradoodle.

We purchased Innotek ULTRASMART IN GROUND PET FENCING, back in May, we have two mixed breed sisters. We were so tired of tying them up! Whenever the door opened they would dart out the door. When we let them loose one at a time, there was no problem, two at a time, the first time, the larger sister went through as we could tell by the way she was yelping, it worked. She never went through it again. The smaller sister got through a bit and we called her back.

It has been 7 months, no escapes! The collars are still holding their charge and I have not recharged them in 3 months, they are still blinking green. My advice, do not over charge the collars. Would recommend this system to anyone and have.

Overall I am very pleased with this product. It took about six hours to install on a 1/2 acre lot. I used a straight edge shovel. I did not splice the connecting wires to the loop as indicated in the directions, as I had to use additional wire, and needed to use one of the waterproof splices for that purpose. I simply made sure I had enough wire to reach the unit inside the house, and then I cut a slit into a wooden wedge and secured it in the ground approximately three inches at the point of the loop before twisting the wire with the drill as directed. This seemed to make more sense anyway, rather than cutting and splicing unnecessarily.

The training process went fairly quickly, as my Vizsla soon understood the boundaries. I did have an issue with the collar stretching a bit, which resulted in no shock being delivered when he ran after a robin in the next yard. Fortunately I saw this happen, and after tracking him down, I tightened the collar, widened the field, and set the level to medium. He does not venture near the boundary now. The collar has loosened again, so I would recommend checking the fit each time you put it on. The collar issue is why it doesn't get five stars.

We put this in about six years ago after getting a crazy $2,300 quote from a local company! I put this in myself with a little help from my wife and it took a full day for my 1/2 acre backyard. We followed the training instructions and our labs now stay in our yard. If there is a squirrel or another dog going past, they still charge at the target but stop dead at the line. It scared the heck out of my neighbors the first few times.

I had a problem with one of the three collars a few months ago, but it was promptly replaced. I was outside the warranty so they charged me $30 which was fair.

I had hoped this muzzle would prevent our little mutt from barking while in her cage. It does, for a while, but she is evidently some sort of dog-Houdini.
